One re-occuring quote that people keep saying is:

Igbos caused the war!
Igbos caused the war!
Igbos caused the war!

How exactly did Igbos cause the war when it was:

General Yakubu Gowon who violated the terms of Aburi.

When it was the Federal Government that declared "police action"

When it was the Nigerian Army that first fired on the Biafran border town of Gakem in Ogoja on 6th of July 1967 which was the start of Armed struggle.

PoliticsRe: On The Metaphorical Implication Of Biafra And The Need For Restructuring by attackgat: 7:15am On Jul 11, 2017
I think that whoever wrote this should better face reality. The Urohbo nation simply does not have the numbers to ever be an effective voice in Nigeria. The Urohbo nation will always be a prisoner of Nigeria unless either of two things happen, restructuring or Biafra. There are no two ways about it. Using the Biafran agitation as a smokescreen to demand restructuring is not going to wash on Biafran agitators.

For those who do not know, the core North will never allow an inch of Nigeria to be restructured. The are standing at all the doors and they are holding the keys at the National Assembly. You can shout restructuring all you like but the North will never let it happen because they will lose big.

As for the Biafran agitation, when referendum comes, Urohbos can vote to continue with Nigeria while we get Anioma out.

Civil disobedience is COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE. Willie is a weak pawn and because those who support him have realized he can't get them their precious Biafra, they want to cause civil unrest in my state. SHAME! Osita Chidoka is a strategist and someone to whom the Biafra cause is dear to his heart, but he realizes we can't get it through noisemaking and acting like chimpanzees. Even if we do, he wants it done peacefully and diplomatically. It's not evertime that Nigerians and Igbo people should be acting like dogs with rabies.
How does civil disobedience now turn to civil unrest? For the Biafran, whoever lives in Government House Awka is not the important thing. You can bet that person will swear an oat to uphold Nigeria. The important thing is the boycott its self.

HOW DO WE ACHIEVE A SEPARATE COUNTRY? BIAFRA?

I think Nnamdi kanu has done the big step which is create and raise the awareness, but he and the IPOBs need to think inward now.

No matter how many demonstrations they carry out
No matter how many election boycott he succeeds in
No matter how many other countries support he gains

Rest of Nigeria will not give him a referendum, if it was given will be rigged, surprisingly with the same Igbos.
Money talks, firstly. And the support for Biafra is not absolutely. My own estimate there are a good 30% who are scared of uncertainty or heartedly will favour to remain in Nigeria.
If everybody remembers, it took just one 'sit at home' protest for Northern youths to support Biafra and ask the Igbos to go. This tells me that if IPOB piles enough pressure with boycotts (elections or otherwise), peaceful protest, mobilisation etc, a time will come when the political establishment of Nigeria will all come together and decide to give Biafrans a referendum. Unlike normal elections where voters vote for multiple candidates, referendums usually ask a single question which people vote YES or No to. Anyone planning to rig that hasnt been born yet.

Hence they ONLY way will be through the ballot.
restrategise the IPOB into regional party- like the SNP- Scottish National Party.

Have achieving Biafra as a prime point in the manifesto.

When the party wins elections in the states of interests that will be a good gauge of support. how much support.

When a state is won, IPOB will have the state's apparatus and machineries to start a Biafran nation building while under Nigeria.

Designating/planning / building for mass housing for the expected influx of returnees into the new Nation- Biafra.

Securing food production for the new nation.- setting up massive farms - feed stock and live stock.

Use the Fulani herdsmen menace as an opportunity to create 10,000 cattle farm that can feed a nation. Build four.

Use the state media infrastructures to relay the IPOB message and get more people prepared for the eventual referendum.

Lets not waste the opportunity of the upcoming Anambra election.
IPOB should take over a party- there are hundreds of dead parties they can take over-
Apply for a name change to something more relevant to the struggle like Freedom party, Independence party, Liberty, etc
And start the campaign and mobilization.

Biafran can be achieved without a gun shot or unnecessary death from demonstration.
IPOB becoming a political party or becoming involved in politics will mean the end of them. IPOB'S legitimacy comes from people seeing it as a freedom fighting organisation. Once they let themselves be stained by Nigerian politics, that legitimacy is gone and they will become another PDP or APC that cannot be trusted. Kanu has been very wise to keep IPOB out of the muddy waters of Nigerian politics. The structure of Nigeria is different from Britain. Britain is a federal structure of 4 autonomus Regions. Any party that supports secession are allowed to contest positions, and if they win, can move a motion of independence in their Regional house of parliament without having to go through the central government in London. Even if IPOB formed a political party and won every polical position in the SE/SS area, they would still have to go to Abuja to move a motion for independence at the National Assembly which is 100% guaranteed to fail as the other zones will definitely not vote for the break up of Nigeria. That would all be wasted effort. So I urge IPOB to continue what they are doing, they are on the right track. Im an Anambra man who thinks Obiano has done well but I support boycott because freedom is more important to me that whatever Obiano has done

Gourdoinc:
you have asked a good question, what stops the IPOB movement from conducting an internal referendum to determine who and who constitutes this biafra. such that when asked to leave they know where to go to. how come people are fighting for a nation whose members are not clearly spelt out via legitimate means. when you say being in Nigeria. you are a Nigerian because you say you are one. the moment you call yourself biafra then you must back that with resolve which in this case is, you must denounce Nigerian citizenship, relocate to biafra, boycott Nigerian affairs and start the process for self determination via normal means. which one has Kanu and his people done. many igbos like yours truly are simply watching the drama online and on the streets while we face our businesses all over Nigeria. nevertheless no true igbo man will wish biafra for himself because it is a terrible solution to our issues. we can't shoot ourselves in the foot because we can't compete politically. yet I tell you a secret even if an igbo man becomes president for the next ten years, he will do nothing for igbo land just as Jonathan did nothing for his region. the South east and south south aren't good in politics and that's the fact of the matter. this failure won't change just because we now have an economically disadvantaged homogenous region called biafra. the very concept spell a bad omen for ndi-igbo and must be fought at all levels. we must change our mentality by developing our regions and this is achieved via restructuring. the north have no say I. that because it's not only applicable to the igbos. there are many other tribes who favour that idea. thus it's a more noble cause to fight and die for. rather than a biafra which offers no advantages to the common igbo man nor his strengths in general
You and others like you better face reality. Less than 3 months ago, the entire Igbo land shut down to show they are solidly behind Biafra. This they did willingly. Already, IPOB has said that the area it considers Biafra is the old Eastern Region plus Delta state. This is where they want the referendum conducted. All the ethnic groups can then vote to carry on with Nigeria or opt out as Biafra. The ones vote to go become Biafra. Denouncing Nigerian citizenship and returning home is not what will bring Biafra. Anyone who does this will just be leaving one part of Nigeria to return to another part of part of Nigeria, the situation has not changed.

What Biafra represents for me is freedom. Freedom to know that I no longer have to be fighting with a Northerner or a Yoruba man to decide what is best for me and Igbo land with the co-operation of the minorities who are comfortable with us. That sort of freedom to decide ones destiny is worth more than all the Igbo investment in Nigeria.

Igbos will be great, but they need to get out of the hopeless disaster called Nigeria first.
PoliticsRe: Restructuring- 6 New Zones by attackgat: 8:38am On Jul 10, 2017

that deluded albino and his hapless miscreant followers have proven themselves weaklings. imagine them begging for a referendum. if truly they know what they are agitating for. why haven't we seen igbos vacating the north and other region in droves. empty chest beaters. you are political failures who can't compete in Nigeria and you running away to form another failed nation. success must be earned legitimately, just as the igbos didn't need to threaten biafra when the earned success in business in this country because that is their strong point. politics is their weakest point and thus have failed many times. yet I wonder if such failures won't exist in their so called biafra. I thank God fellow igbos like me are realizing this fact and fighting it everywhere we see it. Kanu will not drag us into penury and economic suicide. we will restructure this country and fight like everyone else to have a federal presence. if we could conquer Nigeria economically, we the new blood will find ways to do same politically. biafra is dead
Igbos will vacate the North to go where? Have they been granted Biafra? The same people asking Igbos to leave the North are ones who are fighting tooth and nail that Biafra will not be. That is not fair at all. They should ask Igbos to go when Biafra is declared, not while we are still all in Nigeria.

You better forget restructuring the same way you want Kanu to forget Biafra. The same North that are against Biafra are against restructuring. To the Northerner, there is little difference between restructuring and Biafra.

IPOB can not say they represent All of the territories the want for their biafra without a sort of factual electoral success.
like Scottish National party did
As catolonia is doing.

Even if the FG were to give you a referendum as it is they will rig it.

IPOB need to built the institution first.
Get access to state machnism of media and structure to propagate her information. All the need is one state to state from.

without the state mechanism , they can aggitate and demonstrate as long as they want. They federal government that is very irrational will ignore them forever.
IPOB is already an institution and has the mechanism of media. Remember, IPOB shut down the entire SE and parts of the SS. Even the federal Government cannot shut down the SE without rolling out the entire army, IPOB did it with nothing.

Elections are a bit different from referendum. Elections only get rigged because people are voting for politicians. In referendum, people are voting for issues not people. There is no motivation to rig referendum as nobody is getting elected
PoliticsRe: Biafra: What IPOB Should Do By Rev Chuks by attackgat: 7:27am On Jul 10, 2017
All these people with their useless ideas about how best to get Biafra. Ideas that will take 500 years to accomplish.

All this "make your Region great". "Hold your leaders accountable", "work with your Governors", "develop your land"

All of these things are absolute rubbish because none of them are achievable as long as Biafrans remain in a messed up place like Nigeria.

You have to be free to use your resources, human or natural, to develop your land.

Nigerian leaders cannot be held accountable because the flawed constitution of Nigeria makes them untouchable

How can anyone develope their land in a highly corrupt, inept and hostile enviroment like Nigeria? Not possible.

And how can anyone work with a Governor who is wielding invincible powers of immunity?

Bottom line is that freedom to change things only comes when you are free.

Nobody in Nigeria is free.

So I think that IPOB are on the right track. IPOB does not need to go to any war. All they have to do is keep using legal means such peaceful protest, election boycott, civil disobedience, mass mobilisation, Biafran sensitisation amongst others to put pressure on the powers that be. Eventually, I believe that Nigeria will get tired and give them a referendum.

I dont have to care about that. What is important is that the very country that created Nigeria is using democratic methods such as referendum to settle issues concerning secession and self determination while the Nigeria that they created are still using war and fighting to settle the same.

Yes referendum is not in the Nigerian constitution same as restructuring. The fact that restructuring is not in the constitution has not stopped people clamouring for it. So, IPOB will agitating for a referendum until the either the NASS or the Nigerian people agree to a referendum. It might be a long thing but everyone will be feeling the heat. Nobody is fighting war any more, civil disobedience is far more effective than war.

Hi pals , while we pray that common sense prevails I also feel obliged to pen some few scenarios of how a war between Nigeria and Biafra will play out.

Biafra has no standing Army while Nigeria has a military whose combat strength has only being proven in internal fights against insurgency, militancy and unarmed citizens. Cameroon has of recent killed More than 90 Nigerian citizens with little or no reaction from the military while the same Cameroon is currently in position of an oil Rich peninsular which they coveted from Nigeria on a platter .

With the Advent of advanced drones, use of Long range missiles invention of bombs with very high capacity incineration power and cluster power I strongly think this would be a tech war unlike the 1967 war that Biafra fought with crude bombs and machettes
Its you Nigerians that are always shouting war, IPOB wants referendum.

While its regretable the 90 peoole who died, they are not Nigerians but Cameroonians
