Yes Uwazuruike kicked off the struggle but it is time for him to go and rest. His style of freedom fighting will never get Biafra. I lost all respect for him when he went to the North. How can an Igbo man and genuine freedom fighter be going to the North yo make peace because of quit notice? Very disgraceful Uwazuruike is yet to understand that he is dealing with a Nigeria that does not want to grant anyone freedom and a radical approach is needed. |
Referendum or restructuring, the North are against both. Most Northerners dont see any difference between both of them as both lead down the same road of self determination. So what do you do if you want either of referendum or restructuring when the North rejects both? 'Accept the will of the North or strive for your freedom' Ojukwu faced the same choice 50 years ago All Nigerians will have to face the same choice at some point We all know what Ojukwu chose, what will the rest of you choose? |
izombie:What did you expect? When the master talks, the slave keeps quiet. But when IPOB or Kanu talks, thats when Yorubas will suddenly remember that their mouths can move. |
moninuola65:These Nigerians and their constant call for war. That some people said they dont want to belong, Nigerians will start shouting war. When that war comes Nigerians will start shouting "you caused it" |
Amarabae:Only a fool belives in Nigerian unity |
Ispiksdatroof20:Paying for a referendum is no problem, agreeing to conduct a referendum is the main problem. Freedom is more important than second Niger Bridge |
These Nothern youths are living in a bygone era. They want IPOB to be declared a terrorist organisation but cannot give any instance where IPOB commited any act of terrorism. |
Are you trying to tell me that a Sharia Court can be set up in my home state of Anambra? |
myright:Lol (16) Ninety-nine point nine per cent of Igbos have denounced secession because it is not good for BUSINESS!And how many percentage observed the sit at home referendum? |
I dont know who he is but he has never been to Igbo land. He cant say any Igbo word with the right intonation. |
StakerLives:A winner emerging is not the issue The issue is if the majority of the Anambra electorate reject the politics of Nigeria. If they do, it will send shockwaves throughout the Nigerian political landscape. Im an Anambra man and I urge my people to boycott the November elections for the following reasons. 1) The Anambra elections, like most elections in Nigeria, has already been rigged. What the powers that be are waiting for is the date to come so they can announce concocted results. Coming out to vote only helps to validate this fraud. 2) Every 4 years, you risk your life, stand under the sun and vote. Where is Nigeria today? What has all that voting achieved? One disasterous leader after the other. Next 4 years, you troop out to vote again to vote for the next set of thieves who only care about how to loot the treasury. If we keep repeating the same thing, how do we expect different results? This time around, lets send a powerful message to the political establishment of Nigeria that the people will not fooled any more. 3) A successful Anambra boycott will start a political revolution in Igbo land and peharps Nigeria. It will create a domino effect where many states will copy the Anambra formular to turn their backs on those criminals who call themselves our leaders. When these people realise that the people have rejected them at the polls, they will sit up and start taking the people serious. 4) In all sincererity and taking into account how Nigeria is structured. If Biafrans are serious about getting their freedom, a time will come when they have to reject the politics of Nigeria. How can we be participating in the politics of a country we want to leave? Im hoping that the Anambra elections will be the start of the total withdrawal of the people from the politics of Nigeria. 5) With the rejection of the politics of Nigeria by the people, even the international community will be sympathetic to the idea of referendum. Im not saying that the boycott will be enough to get referendum, but it will go a long way to getting it. |
Yyeske:Anyone can get a voters card. Wether they come out to vote is a different issue |
These people tjat are wasting their saliva shouting restructuring when they know that the North will allow one inch of Nigeria to be restructured. That same constitution that will not allow Biafra also will not allow restructuring. |
I dont know what the big deal is. Kanu and IPOB have asked the people to boycott the elections. It is now up to the people to heed that call or not. So what is fuss about? |
I was quite shocked to watch on youtube a major Kenyan tv channel dicussing Biafra and the break up of Nigeria. |
kn23h:Was done in 1967, it didnt make much difference. Unity beggers everywhere claiming to be great but cannot be independent. |
Markfemi2:"I am great but I need to be with Hausa and Igbo in one country". So much for greatness. Nobody takes Yorubas claim to being great serious. We all know it is hinged on the existence of Nigeria and not by self effort. |
kn23h:But you cone heads have not said how leaving the North will get anyone independence |
Markfemi2:Im not talking about the views of a few politicians who have sworn to uphold the unity of Nigeria. Im talking about the collective will of the people. What is the point of being great when you are still begging the North for restructuring? If you thnk you are great, demand your independence. |
Basic123:The example you gave does not relate to Nigeria. California isnt an indigenous tribe. Im talking about Yorubas who were self governing under the Oyo empire long before the creation of Nigeria but today have lost all sense of self determination. |
One thing Igbos like me will never understand about Yorubas is that despite all their claim to greatness, Yorubas cant do without ONE NIGERIA. I thought when people are great, they can afford to be independent? Whats the point of all the noise if you cant afford to be independent? |
I want referendum, you want restructuring. The Nigerian government says that neither is possible without changing the constitution. |
jpphilips:Quit the unity begging, that Lugards wife named you after a River does not mean some of us cannot come with our own names. |
Markfemi2:Why should Biafra be 5 states? dont you realise that the last Biafra was the entire Eastern Region? Do you know that the final president of Biafra was phlip Effiong, an Annang man? Biafra has nothing to do with states, it has everything to do with tribes |
Only in Nigeria can a genocidal war criminal called Gowon still be relevant. Im happy that much of the international community have shunned him and he is still regarded by them as one of the greatest killers to come out of Africa. It is uncivilised places that still regard people like him Why was Gowon and his fellow Northerners afraid of Nigerias break up? Is it that the Northerners loved Igbos and the minorities so much? They were afraid of Nigerias break up, just as they do now, because of loss of free Oil money. The minorities foolishly thought that the creation of the states would give them control of their resources while removing the fear of Igbo domination. Instead, full centralist government was introduced which took over their resources and made the caliphate of Sokoto their masters. I think that Ojukwu went to his grave laughing. The minorities that stood against Biafra only got a far worse deal in Nigeria, and the Nigeria that was fighting Biafra in the name of unity never mananged to find unity. |
Markfemi2:Thats why the Biafran agitators are all calling for referendum |
Markfemi2:So did Nigeria |
We should all remember that South South, South East and Niger Delta are just mere geographical expressions. In actual fact, they do not represent anyone. What represents people are their ethnic names. Now definitely, when two ethnic groups share borders fir hundreds of years, there is no way both would not have interacted in all that time. A Yoruba or Hausa man cannot claim to know Efik, Ibibio, Ogoja, legbo,Isoko, Ananng more than Igbos. Igbos have land borders with all of them. If Igbos decide that they want to leave the Nigerian union and begin a new country, it is only fair that Igbos inform its neigbours of what is coming and there is no harm in suggesting that they all move out together especially since but Igbos and the minority ethnic groups have the common complaint that they are marginalised in Nigeria If there is any ethinc group that feels more comfortable in Nigeria, they should voice their opinion but it should be mainly the will of the people, not a few priviledged. Igbos do not take people by force, it is not in their culture. Even Ojukwu asked for a mandate before declaring the Eastern Region as Biafra. Since the end of the war, it has been the minorities themselves who have taken up arms against Nigeria more than Igbos. This shows they are not happy with Nigeria. Hopefully, a referendum will finally settle everything once and for all. |
Personally, I wouldnt recommend a British Nigerian becoming involved in Nigerian politics unless it is one who has been resident in Nigeria for a while and understands the way things work There are very few 'gentlemen' in Nigerian politics and even if you are one, Nigerian politics will change that very fast. I have been involved in local party politics and seen how it can turn people into monsters. You have to become a monster to get anywhere in Nigerian politics because your opponents are equally monsters. For someone who is used to the civilised politics of a civilised country such as Britain, Nigerian politics may not be for you |
What is it with this crazy Nigerians? Whenever they see someone who is late 30's or early 40's they will be shouting "Settle down", "you are getting old", "get married". Na by force? Rita Dominic is having the time of her life and the only advice some people can give her is to marry a man that might break her neck tomorow. Other actresses like Tonto Dike who got married, what happend? Marriage and kids is not for everyone. There are many people who have both but are not happy. |
