And all the time you were even in touch with the embassy why didn't you use some as an opportunity to have this "receipt" grey area clarified? Hope this is adding up and nothing extra to it, maybe I'm not understanding something here sha.

Just, a simple question.

If for any reason you misplaced your receipt, was robbed, involved in a fire incident, etc, you won't then interview, right? And in your case the receipt is even with the embassy oh! There was no need to call off the trip to the embassy on the appointment date in my opinion, really.
If it was stolen or misplaced, then its a different case, but in her case she has used it for her dropbox and was called for interview which she went but was refused, thats why we are worried about it and decided to call the embassy to verify. She didnt remember that she didnt have the receipt the whole time she was in touch with the embassy, had it been that she found out about it,she should have asked them about it so that they can tell her whether or not she can attend the interview. She knew about it in the night of saturday, when she was packing her bag to travel to Abuja on sunday 31st july morning. And the embassy was closed for the day and there is nothing we could do,because monday morning 1st of Aug is her interview date. So thats why,Thank u very much for your contribution,i appreciate.

Yes she needs a receipt to gain entry into the interview hall.......but if you paid online on Gtbank platform, you would have easily reprinted another receipt.
Thats the mistake we made,i didnt know that GTB can reprint another receipt. Because she told me that all documents has to be ready before u are allowed into the interview hall and i haven't been to the US embassy to know how it works.Thats why i said its better we dont take the risk. But now i know better, thanks

Pls house, my wife was refused a visa after dropbox interview. But we want to pay another fee and book for another appointment, only to find out from our US embassy mail account that she can still book appointment with the previous visa fee. i doubted it before but i ask my wife to contact the embassy for this and she called them on different occasions and was answered by different embassy people that she is good to go,just to make sure we dont make a mistake. And we booked the appointment for August 1. But when she wanted to travel a day before her interview, she find out that she has no payment receipt because she submitted it together for the Dropbox before. So that moment i decided with her that she shouldnt take that chance to travel that Long distance and later be turned back by the embassy. we decided to pay and book for another interview coming up in Sept which is far,. So my question is could they have interviewed her had it been that she attended the interview? Because she is still arguing with me about it.Secondly, how do i expedite the interview without any reason? because she is not Pregnant. its just for this summer vacation.

Just for info purpose.
My spouse wasn't present @ delivery so his name couldn't be included on birth certificate as stated by hospital rule. The DS3053 which I notarized in naija wasn't used as only my name was accepted in processing. My baby's US PP.

So it is possible to have only the mothers name in the baby birth certificate and still collect the baby passport?

There's no matter. You are 100% correct. Bt if she is rejected in the renewal she can travel with the existing visa. She only will lose 48k
Sometimes they might stamp cancel without prejudice on your existing visa if u are refused renewal. Her best bet is to use her existing visa to avoid taking risks and stories that touches the heart. U know this embassy people does whatever they like whether it suits their applicants or not.

Thanks Fisttymum, I think I sounded confident and composed. I have UK and Dubai visas that I used in 2014 and then Ghana stamps of air and Road transport of early this year. Could it be any of these? I am sensing he saw something cos no request for documents was made.
my sister, they didn't see anything wrong and you didn't do anything wrong.its just that sometimes it's not your luck or you ran into a visa officer that woke up angry that morning. because I have seen people that answered worse than you did and were with virgin passport and still got their visas. How can you explain that my wife was issued b1/b2 visa in 2014,she used it two times (2014 and 2015),stayed 2 months in her first visit and 3 weeks in her second visit, she never used it for child birth, and when she put in for her Dropbox renewal, she was called for interview and was refused for just no reason. They are just doing what they like, So just take it in good faith and don't give up.just reapply,God will do it for you.

DENIAL INTERVIEW- July 8

Houston bound mums for first week in August should please reach out.
Thank God and congrats for your successful visa interview. This shows that there are no specific time to wait before reapplying if you were previously denied. I wonder how you get another appointment so fast, because my wife Dropbox interview was denied in the beginning of June, but another available date we got was August.

If she had gotten the visa and was going for renewal, I would say the answer would be no.
Since she's going for a fresh interview and will have to present the passport to the vo, it is my opinion that the answer should be yes because it was cancelled albeit without prejudice.
When she clicks yes, I believe a column will come up for her to explain. She can indicate that the (expired) visa was cancelled without prejudice during her last interview.
I believe too much Is always better than too little. Without knowing why her visa was refused during renewal, it would be better to thread on the side of caution and cross every t.
thanks LadyG, she will do as you said. I just don't want any wahala this time around.

^^^oga Austine2020 her answer "I was stamped for 6months so I decided to stay for 2 months instead of 2weeks" does not really support the strong ties IMO. If she could tell the VO she 'just changed her mind' about how long she was staying just because she was stamped in for 6months don't you think the VO wouldn't see the kids as a strong enough tie? Or was she with the kids on that trip? Was she with her whole family?

She changed her mind on a wimp. She can decide not to return to Nigeria at all on her next trip......

That's what I think anyways.... I wasn't the VO.
My kids traveled with her on that first trip, but they travel with their European passports not visas. But i didnt travel with them. Note, that was her first trip in 2014 and she later traveled in 2015 alone without my kids.

I understand how you feel, but i think you should try look at this from a neutral perspective where Lady G n co advised from.
It may as well have been how you speculated as vo being in a bad mood (but remember, you weren't there).
But i have already thanked Lady G for her advice before saying what i said. That shows that i accepted her advice. Anyways, thank u as well for your contribution. I think she can reapply now, because the earliest date for appointment is still far(ending of July).

Austine
Without any other info from u, I'll torchlight the following issues
1. The mood of the vo
2. The manner wherein your wife answered
3. Her actual answer. I will elucidate a bit here.
' I went for 2 weeks but since I was stamped 6 months I now stayed back visiting friends and what not.' IMO that shows she had no serious ties in Nigeria. She could change her plans at the drop of a hat. Clearly, she had no job to run back to. Maybe she even took paid employment whil there #inthevo'svoice. She could even afford to stay2 months away from her husband that is s'posed to be a tie.
Who's to say she has not made arrangements to now stay forever now.
4. Again I think her whole answer was flippant. It could rub of wrong on a bad 'mooded' vo

Wayforward
Anytime she's reapplying, she has to have it in mind to prove strong home ties and that she did not work while in the us
Thanks Lady G for the advice,. but she has enough strong ties with her 2 kids and her husband at home, our original marriage certificate, Our wedding and family pictures, her work appointment letter and pay slips, i even told her to go there with my company documents including my company statement of account and her own personal statements of account, all with good flow in and out of cash and a big balance afterall. All those things were not asked, just those 2 or 3 things that i wrote. I will just say that she fell in the hand of a wicked visa officer who woke up in a bad mood that day,if not, this couldn't have happened. But i have taken it in good faith and i have told her to reapply. she came back today, then tomorrow she will start the process of reapplying.

Hi Austine.

I'm confused. There's a problem somewhere, cos the schengen denial and the US denial cannot both be coincidence. Something must av been flagged somewhere.

I stayed 5mths and still got my visa renewed so I don't understand the reason.

I think you should reapply
I thought as much, because my father inlaw and mother in law even stayed for 5 months plus on two occasions and still renew theirs in lagos via Dropbox. but if something was flagged, why cant they tell her or ask her the thing,so that she can explain.Because am very sure that she has used her visa very well without any hindrance and abide by their rules all along, only for her to be refused in this unexpected way. I am even shocked and confused when she called me to tell me this. With this kind of refusal, am even tired to tell her to reapply. I havent seen this kind of refusal before, denying someone just for no reason. I will tell her to reapply, but there is no time, because i wanted them to travel for vacation this summer when my kids will have long vacation but the earliest date i saw today was 26 of july.

My Wife went for the interview today, but it was not successful.

VO: hello
DW: hi
VO: You filled 2 weeks in your visa form and stayed 2 months in the US,why and what were you doing in the US for 2 months?
DW: I was stamped in for 6 months and i decided to stay for 2 months to visits friends and families. I also visit some of the tourists places in Houston and its environs, because i came for vacation.More over,i spent only 3 weeks during my second visit last november.
VO: Sorry we cannot renew your visa.
DW: Why? Do you have specific time that i supposed to stay in the US when someone was issued a B1/B2 Visa and was stamped in for 6 months in the port of entry?
VO: Sorry, but u can still re apply.

This is just unimaginable, i have seen people that stayed in the US for 5 months and still renew their visa via Dropbox.while some were issued a visa for vacation and they gave birth with it in the US and still renew their Visa and some even traveled only once with their visa and still renew via Dropbox. This reason doesnt worth calling someone for interview. but all in all i hate this visa thing to the core, because after u did all your best to maintain your good relationship and trust with the embassy, they will still look for a way to reject you visa. This was what happened between her and the schengen people after she has been a regular traveler to Germany since 2009 with over 6 schengen visas and was still rejected last time for no reason. and now US again. She has never overstayed any of her visas. The worst part of it is that the embassy even lost her first Nigerian passport where all her past expired schengen visas were and told her that they didnt detach the passports. Take her phone number and told her that they will call her if they see the passport and even stamped cancel without prejudice in her expired US visa in her new passport. Am so heart broken by this embassy people, because i have arranged for their summer vacation this july. But all the same life must go on. God dey.

Hi Austine,

They might just want to know why she was denied a Schengen Visa! I would not want to delve into how you got your EU passport but you should check US visa form to see if husband and kid's nationality was asked for and what your reply was!

The VO could b thinking why d denial if u hold an EU passport and why schengen visa instead of an entry clearance /residence permit!

Then again, it could just b a random check but b prepared.

P.S: I'm no expert on immigration matters!

That might be one of the reasons, but its still proper to give your kids citizenship without giving your wife, because theirs is always easier without hassels than giving your wife. It has happened to a lot of people in Europe.Secondly, she has traveled so many times to Europe before she got this US Visa, but u know EU people are sometimes crazy when it comes to visa issuance. But all the same thanks for your advice,I will put it into consideration as well.

Welldone Everyone in the House for a good job being done here. Please House i need responses. My wife got her b1/b2 in 2014 & traveled in 2014 to the US with my kids who used their European passport together with their ESTA to travel with her as well. and in 2015 my wife traveled alone to the US for 1 month without my kids and came back. But in the same 2015,she went for a Schengen visa immediately as she came back but was denied for no reason, notwithstanding that she was a regular traveler to Europe before. She now put in for her US visa renewal via dropbox, but was called via an Email two days ago to come for interview at the Embassy. Pls my question is,could it be because of the Schengen rejected stamp in her passport or what could have been the reason for the interview? Has anyone had such experience in the past? i just want to know so that she can be well prepared for the questions that might come out during her interview. Note, she has never given birth in the US before or have any issues at the POE with CBP before. Lady G and others,Pls over to all of U.

of course state your child. Just try and be transparent this time around.
I think the main cause of the refusal might be that she birthed in the US with a wrong visa, because B1 doesn't cover medical,But B2 did. So she can come clean by applying for the right visa and tell the whole truth about her previous travel with all her burden of proof and hope that the VO will be fair to her, with the help of God she will be fine since she paid all her bills on the former one.

Careful with contracting oh!
That "contract with God" thingy showed me nwii!

I had baby at the start of 2010 and contracted with Baba God to give me 2 years, azzin so that baby will come in 2012 abi?

Guess when the next baby landed? Mid 2015... 5 years of agony!

I developed a deep respect for moms in waiting sha!... I was in pain chai! And i already had a boy and girl oh! I just wanted more. I could better imagine and appreciate all the battles that those who didnt have any were having to fight!

I think i went through a phase!

Then it clicked and i realised that God had not let me down in any way, and that He had been good to me (2 kids already, boy and girl)! That was when the seige was broken.

I'm a grateful woman!!!

This is exactly what am going through right now, We had a boy 2010 and a girl in 2012.but we decide to wait a little bit and since then uptil now no show, the thing just tire me and my wife. But God dey. She has a US Visa since 2014 and she traveled in 2014 and in 2015 with our kids but not for child birth. Sometimes its just frustrating for me because am not living in Nig. because i still have to come back to do the Job,but sometimes she comes over to Europe with my kids when they have Holiday until they refuse her European Visa last year November for no reason. I was home last Xmass but no show, and am planning to go again next month hoping that God will answer our Prayer this time around because i really need this US dream Child.

The only thing I can say is that this is the season to dot I s and cross T s. Apparently the season for ' I got visa for vacation but couldn't use it but now want to birth with it' is coming to an aburpt end. Letter of intent is no longer the magic cure to every shortcoming. If you get your visa for vacation, pls try and use it as such before any extra curry and kola activity
#myopinion
You are very correct, the best is to use the visa first for the purpose it was given to you and come back before even writing the intent change letter then child birth. The VO is angry that they haven't used the Visa for the purpose it was given to them before Getting for his mum to join for Child birth which wasn't the reason the visa was issued in the first place. Thats why its good for her to be in the US first and pay some Doctors and hospital fees like some people did, then send the receipts for her MIL to go along with it to the embassy. I just feel for them and i hope they will reapply backing it up with necessary "Burden of proof" and make their case known to the embassy, with God all things are possible.
