PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Orders Attacked Son Released From Abuja Hospital Over Safety Concern by AustineE1:
..on who's authority is Obasanjo ordering his son's removal from one hospital to the other! He is a personnel of Nigerian military and hence should be treated like every other Nigerian soldier..military rules of engagement demands that all injured officers on official duties shall be taken care of by the military Authority.Enough of this nonsense!Btw why are they contemplating taking him to a medical tourism abroad, while other gallant soldiers are still fighting and dying for Nigeria,Obasanjo's son is recieving VIP treatment, this will dampen the morale of other patriotic soldiers who as usual get injured from time to time...this nepotism must stop,i supposed,he must have been promoted rapidly in the military as against his peers because of his privileged background!
i wonder why he is even been celebrated,a commanding officer who lost 24 members of his platoon to a rag tag terrorist is an under-achiever!!!
Long live our gallant soldiers, may their labour never be in vain!

ochejoseph: Wonderful News ! But don't be sad if you don't see it as broadcast message on your BBM , retweeted on twitter, posted to Facebook or shared on Nairaland.

Social Media has turned many of us into Weapons in the hands of the Enemy

1. Without knowing it, many of us have taken over the role of Abu Qaqa

2. Transforming personal Blogs, twitter handle and social media spaces into platforms for propagating terror

3. How will you feel if that Video you are sharing and broadcasting is that of someone you know, sharing such Videos and information that massages the ego of the insurgents in the height of insensitivity!

4. Supporting our troops is a civic responsibility

Supporting their families while they are in the front lines is a duty we must all embrace

Supporting the families of fallen soldiers is a debt we need to start repaying !

May God help us to help ourselves!

GOD BLESS NIGERIA
How wonderful is it to know that we still have very reasonable youths like you and some few others,in a cyber world where many Nigerian youths has been deceived,manipulated,mis-led,hypnotised by a section of the opposition elites and their cronies in some media houses into foolery! You indeed has given me reason to believe that this generation of Nigerian youths may truly nt be a generation of idiots as argued in some quarters.

MeAboki: Igbos, united in bigotry: so Ihejirika is innocent until proven guilty but Modu Sheriff is guilty until proven innocent; even though both were jointly f!ngered by a completely neutral detribalised person with nothing to gain by his revelation.

The argument trying to absolve Ihejirika by his kinsmen, on the basis that he lacks motive because he is Igbo and a Christian in view that these groups were victims of Boko Haram, is as insincere as it is myopic - in fact, all groups are victims; majority (and still counting) being by far Muslims and northerners; while the latter are the least affected.

Whereas Modu Sheriff could have been motivated by anything; Ihejirika could only have been motivated by one thing, as clearly pointed out by his accuser: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY - what is so difficult to figure out, after all is he not Igbo? What would Igbo not do for money?

Bunch of mother fvcking hypocrites Mtccheeeww!
....you dont have to insult just to put your point across,Modu Sheriff as known by Bornu people was the founder of a clandestine movement which latter metamorphosed into present day boko haram, though his intention was strickly a political movement but the rest is now history!
however Gen.Ihejirika was a pain in the neck of the Islamic north terrorist cabal,we cant forget in a hurry how the so -called Maidugari elders promised to take him to ICC,for indiscriminate killing of Boko haram members and sympathisers. The plan failed and the Australian political mercenary was conscripted to do the dirty job or simply known as plan B.
I almost wanted to also reply you with an insult but when i checked your moniker and i saw 'MeAboki',i had no choice but to hold back because i know the challenges you go through to even come online, you need encouragement

I do not have issues with any party but i will always cast my vote where the interest of my people will be guided and as such any party or person that can move Nigeria forward.
However it is also important to state that APC as a party is politically immature, there nature of response to national issues often connotes high level of irresponsibilty and often portrays them as an embittered group of bigots and failed shenanigans!...shamelessly,inspite of the fact that it has been said that the Australian wasnt employed by the federal govt. They still held on to the falsehood, how then can we ever have trust in such a party of hooligans! If the Australian political mercenary had mentioned Buhari or Tinubu, they wld ve called him names and tag him a PDP stalwart, but all of a sudden the are now calling on ICC....APC is a national embarrassment to the good people of Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: 10 Generals Guilty Of Arming Boko Haram by AustineE1:
There is a trend i see in Nigeria that is quite disturbing and dangerous, there has been a concerted effort by some disgruntled politicians and a section of this country to rope people from a particular region and also other minorites tribes whom may have given their support to this regime....how else can one explain the fact that the late National security advicer Rtd Gen. Aziza was almost always blamed for the failure of Nigeria military to conquer Boko haram terrorists, now forwarded to present day,we now have a certain Rtd Gen.Gusau(from the north) as the NSA and not even a single finger has ever been pointed at him, despite the loses some times incurred by our military!
Since the end of the civil war,it is believed that a secret pact was signed by the ruling military elites, that never again shall an Igbo man be the chief of Army staff, but along came one GEJ who deemed it fit to give the top military Job to the most qualified(in the real sense of the word)military guy and hence, the old order was ruffled and hell was let loose.

Gen.Ihejirika killed boko haram terrorists in their numbers, they said the are heading to world court for genocide and when it failed, they now say he is a sponsor of the terrorist group and again it has failed, woe to the enemies of Nigeria.

Do you still listen to this government?
Fact is ,there is no government .
Governance in Nigeria has never gone beyond aso rock .
Family evacuating today.
Soldiers will be "tactically manoeuvring" into Cameroon tomorrow.
Have you been following this conflict at all?
The commanders are nothing short of useless and brainless.
That assaulted bama barrack had a massive hill behind it .yet Boko haram took the damn place .imagine having such a physical obstacle yet they could not defend their own barracks.
Paying ordinary well diggers to build a network of caves and bunkers could have turn that place to well supplied bunkers capable of holding out for months.
Some soldiers from the east , who deserted their army post ,were asked why,
they said ," why should they die in/for a place that is not my home ".
That my friend ,is Nigeria.
A non -Nation.
The only glue holding the country together is the esprit de corp amongst the dying stupid ,corrupt ,power usurping and devious ex-military leaders.
I must also add oil.
As much as people want to deny it ,we share absolutely nothing of substance(things needed to forge a great nation) in common.
you are so pathetic, why do you derive joy in using any slightest opportunity to fight your usual e-tribal war(of course thats the only place for cowards and weaklings).Do you know that you are doing more harm to this country than even the so called boko haram, you disseminate falsehood online, spread dangerous propaganda and sow seeds of discord among fellow country men!..it is easy for you to sit some where in 'lagos',and spew thrash online,to the point you now know the origin of the deserting Nigerian Army personnels and you also interviewed them and they told you their mind!Must you use ethnic leanings to describe an already bad situation,in other climes you should by now be preparing to enlist into the military, inother to defend our territorial intergrity.
Btw,Boko haram are bittered by the level of casualties they incurred by sustained bombing of their positions by the Nigerian Air Force and army in Bama, hence the embarked on cheap propaganda, which is a very powerful tool in wars....From the way the so -called Shekau had claimed he was going to lead the invasion of Maidugari and wont mind being martyred, shows that it is a case of a drowning man. This must be fought and won!God bless our military.

....igbo land is made up of communities and families with great legacies, the community you refered to,should be 'Ovim Isikwu ato' the land of the generals!where you have great men like Admiral Ndubuisi Kalu, former military administrator of Lagos state and also he was partly responsible for placing most of their people in the military e.g Gen.Ike Nwachukwu, maj.gen Ihejirika amongs many!...there are also many great kindreds in Igbo land e.g in Nimo in Anambra State, the royal family of Onyiuke where the former director general of Nigeria stock exchange hails from(mrs onyiuke)its a very big family partly because Igwe onyiuke in his days married many wives and one of his brothers became a notable barrister, got to be a SAN and in those days was made the chief Justice of Tanzania,he awarded scholarship to any member of the kindred who wishes to study law and as of the last count, there are over (70) seventy lawyers from the kindred alone, all answering Onyiuke except those who got married and their names were changed to their husbands name.

As the days passes-by,the average man in the street is beginning to sympathesize more with GEJ,simply because of the brand of dirty politics APC has introduced and as never seen before in Nigeria!People now think that the only crime of GEJ is his origin from a minority christian tribe.
The Buharis,Tinubus,Atikus and their likes whom APC are presenting as the solution to bad governance, are still thesame thieving elites that has looted, squandered, spillaged and bastadized every thing Nigeria with the highest level of impunity and reckless abandon.
hence, success of a people in Nigeria can only be born out of relentless hard work and not by my brother being named the president, take the North for example...4 million Almajiris loitering the streets, inspite of many years of presidency.

Confirmed Cases Still 10, 4 Now Dead, No Ebola in Enugu, all Cases in Lagos
Category: SPECIAL REPORTS

By Dan Nwomeh
Press Statement By The Honourable Minister Of Health, Professor C. O. Onyebuchi Chukwu On The 14th August, 2014 At The Federal Ministry Of Health, Abuja.
Nigeria has now recorded ten (10) confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). Out of these, four (4) have died and six (6) are currently under treatment. (It is important to note that the number of confirmed cases remains ten (10) as at today and not eleven (11) as earlier announced this morning. We regret the error which arose from double counting in the process of communicating the additional death from the operational centre in Lagos to the Federal Ministry of Health). The fourth death recorded today was a Nigerian nurse who participated in the initial management of the index case.
The total number of persons under surveillance in Lagos is now 169. These are all secondary contacts as all the primary contacts have completed the 21-day incubation period and have been delisted to resume their normal lives.
Enugu State now has 6 persons under surveillance as 15 after complete evaluation were found not to have had contact with the nurse, a primary contact of the index case who became symptomatic and tested positive and is one of the 10 confirmed cases. The nurse who had been placed under surveillance in Lagos disobeyed the Incidence Management Committee and travelled to Enugu. At the time she made the trip, she was yet to show any symptom and did not infect anyone on her way as transmission of the disease is only possible when a carrier of the virus becomes ill. However, she has since been brought back to Lagos. Before the return journey, she had become symptomatic and had to be conveyed to Lagos with her spouse in special ambulances. The husband is not symptomatic neither is he positive for Ebola Virus Disease but has been quarantined given the intimate contact with her while in Enugu.
It is therefore important to emphasise that there is no Ebola Virus Disease in Enugu. All cases are still confined to Lagos State. Also, reports of Ebola Virus Disease in Abia, Imo, Akwa Ibom and Anambra States as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja have all been investigated and none of them was found to be Ebola Virus positive.
On Monday the 11th August, 2014 the Honourable Minister of Health convened an Emergency National Council on Health (NCH) Meeting as Chairman, with the Minister of State for Health, the Commissioners for Health in the 36 States and the Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. The meeting reviewed the state of preparedness of the country to contain the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease and resolved on actions to be taken.
In furtherance of the national containment efforts, President Goodluck Jonathan himself convened a meeting of the 36 State Governors and the Minister of the FCTA, Commissioners for Health and the Secretary of Health of the FCTA on 13th August. The meeting was briefed by the Minister of Health, the Project Director of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Nigeria. The Governor of Lagos State also briefed the meeting on the situation in Lagos. Each State of the Federation and the FCTA reported on the status of their preparedness to prevent and mitigate the disease through their Commissioner of Health and the Secretary of Health in FCTA. The vast majority of the States were fully prepared while a few others are in the process of completing all the requirements.
Since the last press briefing, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Labour and Productivity have met with the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to secure their buy-in on the strategy to contain the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak.
The private sector stakeholders and Foundations are also showing interest in containing the EVD outbreak and here today, there will be a special announcement by the Dangote Foundation.
It is also important to note the laboratories where specimen can be taken for laboratory analysis. They are:
a. NCDC Laboratory at LUTH, Idi-Araba Lagos
b. NCDC Laboratory at Asokoro, Abuja
c. Redeemer’s University Laboratory, Lagos-Shagamu Express Way
d. UCH Laboratory, Ibadan
Let me once again reassure Nigerians that the Government is working hard to ensure the containment of the outbreak.
Thank you.

Anambra Becomes SMART State, Partners FG on Spec ICT Programme

Published on Tuesday, 12 August 2014 20:47
By Emeka Ozumba

Anambra State has been selected by the Broadband Council of Nigeria as one of the five states, technically referred to as the SMART States and specially designated for the accelerated roll-out of ICT infrastructure programme that will set the country up for technological revolution in the country. Other states include Bayelsa, Gombe, Katsina and Ondo states.
This was the basis of a preliminary partnership agreement signed today between the Anambra State government and the Ministry of Communications Technology in Awka during a working visit on the governor of the state by the Hon. Minister of Communication Technology, Dr. Mrs. Omobola Johnson.
According to the terms of reference of the agreement, Anambra State will be working in close partnership with the Federal Government to create and enabling environment to position the state an enabling environment that would facilitate the roll-out of ICT infrastructure across the state.
Speaking on the development, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano said that ICT is critical in achieving the vision of making Anambra State the first choice investment destination and hub for industrialization and commercial activities.
According to him, the effective implementation of his Four Pillars of Development for Ndi Anambra which includes Agriculture, Trade and Commerce, Industrialization and Oil and Gas depends largely on how fast the stae is in adapting the dynamic changes in the ICT world.
Emphasizing the importance of ICT to his administration’s plans to introduce e-commerce to the large business community in the state, Chief Obiano assured that he would soon send a bill to the State House of Assembly to provide the legal framework for the introduction of e-commerce to enable businessmen and women of the state to keep pace with their peers across the world.
The governor further assured that Anambra State would soon become a reference point amongst the selected states for the ICT programme, emphasizing that the state has commenced the process in various sectors including installation of internet services in schools, and the use of drones in security operations and the erosion control.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the Minister of Communications Technology Dr. Mrs Omobola Johnson had observed that the collaboration between Federal Government and the states and the telecommunications companies would lead to the deployment of communications infrastructure that would bring down the cost of networks deployment and an increase in the rollout of ICT services to commercial centers and the undeserved and rural areas by telecommunication operators.
According to her, Anambra was selected for the programme because it has demonstrated commitment in the promotion of ICT in its programmes. Dr. Mrs Johnson also explained that the rollout would increase broadband penetration and access to such services at affordable prices for customers and digitally enable urban areas to stimulate growth in economic activities, productivity and overall development of the state.
Dr. Mrs Johnson further expressed optimism that the initiative would cover standardized fees for site building and approvals with the state, reduction in fees and possibility of waiver for Rights-of-Way in deserving instances, implementation of Dig-once-Policy, promotion of colocation between operators and connectivity to institutions within a kilometer of the Right-of-Way.
Also speaking, former Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and member of the Minister’s Advisory Committee, Engr Ernest Ndukwe commended the zeal and commitment displayed by Governor Obiano on the programme. He noted that the Minister aims at moving ICT revolution forward and that the selected states would be transformed to centers of excellence in ICT.

Mans inhumanity to his fellow man,how can a governor elected by popular vote wake up one morning and increase school fees of LASU from #25,000 to about #350,000,some times i wonder if these leaders of ours ever had any human conscience in them, this same man wld blame federal govt in every slightest thing just because of party differences!
Reverting it now may just be a little too late, knowing that some parents have way died of High BP and other tension related diseases and how about students you have gone into robbery just to pay this outrageous and brutally wicked school fees.
The questn is why in the first place did he increase the school fees when he knew that status quo can be maintained!
Indeed Ekiti election has taught those greedy bullies a big lesson and 2015 is just by the corner!

In what many has described as the fear of 2015 general election, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has instructed that the school fees of Lagos State University (LASU) be reversed back to the former amount.
The directive was given on Thursday when the governor played host to students and parents during the school convocation, the school fees which earlier stood at N25,000 for humanities and education was astronomically raised to N198,000 while the medical students were to pay N350,000.
The school fees caused serious protest by both the students and lecturers before the governor agreed to reduce it by 34 to 60 percent which also never went well with the students
The reversal sent joy to the students who will now have to pay the old school fees.
