The BMW M760Li has a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine producing 601 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. 0-60 time is an amazing 3.6 seconds… Imagine having poor brakes with all that power. That’s why BWM is recalling the M760Li… the engine could leak oil onto the front brakes which could decrease stopping power.

The problem is due to an improperly crimped line which was first noticed in a customer’s vehicle. Although, there has been no accident or injury.. BMW is recalling about 97 units in the United States as a precaution to have the oil lines inspected and possibly replaced.

This car currently cost about N80million in Nigeria.

You all remember Honda Passport ? It was Honda’s first SUV, dipping the Japanese automaker’s toes in the proverbial water before it came out with the original CR-V. Now it turns out that Honda could be preparing to bring the name back out of retirement.

Car and Driver located an application filed by Honda with the US Patent and Trademark Office for just that nameplate, suggesting that the plan is already in motion to expand the manufacturer’s SUV lineup with another model.

Though it’s unclear at the moment just what that model would be, we could see it turn up on the anticipated short-wheelbase version of the Pilot. The model is expected to arrive sometime next year with only two rows of seating instead of the new Pilot’s three, bridging the gap between that model and the CR-V that sits below it.

The original Passport, in case you’re having trouble recalling that far back, lasted for two generations, from 1993-97 and 1997-2002, and overlapped with the CR-V that arrived in 1995. Only instead of developing the model itself, Honda simply rebadged the Isuzu Rodeo in its own image. The upscale Acura division did the same with the 1996-99 Acura SLX, similarly badge-engineered from the Isuzu Trooper, prior to the launch of the first-generation MDX in 2000.

Whatever model the Passport name is applied to next, it isn’t likely to have anything to do with Isuzu whatsoever.

Volvo is known for its strength and ruggedness ,they are about to take it a step further .

At the recently held Shanghai Auto Show,they made it known that they would be building an electric car soon and it would be made available in 2019.

They haven’t given any info on what it would be called yet,but its going to be based on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA).

They plan on concentrating production in China ,which would also be made available around the world .The plan is to help China with its current struggle with pollution by producing more electric cars and hybrids.

Volvo also made it known that they would be creating hybrid plug-in versions for their existing models .They also have a target and aim of selling 1 million electrified cars by 2025.

While the crave for electric and hybrid cars is becoming insatiable,more brands and auto companies are showing interest and working tirelessly to up their game .

Do you think Volvo can give the likes of Tesla and other brands a run for their money when it comes to electric and hybrid vehicles .

Few days ago, I spotted someone applying make-up behind the wheels of a moving car.. and kids were inside the car. That’s the craziest I have ever seen. What about you?

Distracted driving includes all activities that diverts the attention of the driver away from the primary task of driving. Distractions endanger the safety of the driver, passengers and other road users.

Avoid these 13 distracted driving habits:

1. Talking on phone
Buy and install a bluetooth hands free device in your car if it does not have one. Alternatively, use the ear piece because… if police catch you…. I beg Sir will not resolve the matter.

2. Texting, Whatsapping and updating social media
Looking at your phone for 3 to 5 seconds is absolutely disastrous. But some drivers still find it difficult to resist in this social media age.

3. Engaging in thoughts outside driving (Daydreaming)
A “Benz S65 AMG” overtakes your “Honda Baby Boy” and you start to daydream.

4. Keeping an eye on the kids.
This is one of the reasons the child safety seat is absolutely necessary.

5. Applying makeups or grooming
Imagine applying mascara or eye pencil on the eyes you are meant to use to see the highway.

6. Eating, drinking or smoking
The tummy is important but your life is more important.

7. Street or house searching
Better to park and ask for direction instead of causing chaos in the middle of the road.

8. Drivers greeting each other in the middle of the road
Some will even block the entire road and talk for like a minute ignoring all the honking.

9. Watching in-dash or sun visor DVD while driving
Some drivers install that aftermarket DVD to show off but it’s risky.

10. Talking to or arguing with passengers
Ibadan drivers can like to do this!

11. Fiddling with entertainment and on board electronics

12. Wanting to catch up with everything that happens on the road
Amebo drivers can be so annoying. They slow down and turn their rubber neck to be fully debriefed when any incident occurs on the road.

13. Killing or chasing flies and mosquitoes inside your car while driving
This is uncommon but it has led to some terrible road accidents.

4) Local Government Council Officials
These guys have been so tenacious despite being banned. Several years back, they used to arrest drivers with the flimsiest of all excuses with no law to back it up. Now, they focus on company cars, busses and pickup trucks. If you don’t have the local government permit or a dustbin in your pickup truck, these guys are out there searching for you. The sad part is most of them don’t even wear any uniform.

President Mohammadu Buhari may well have ignited stakeholders’ confidence in Nigeria’s automotive industry as he appointed renowned General Motors Senior Creative Designer as the new Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC.

Aliyu, who also designed the awe-inspiring Chevrolet Volt replaces Engineer Aminu Jalal.

But who is Jelani Aliyu? Born in Kaduna in 1966 to Alhaji Aliya and Sharifiya Hauwa’u Aliyu who both hail from Sokoto State, Jelani Aliyu attended Capital School, Sokoto between 1971 and 1978, and then proceeded to Federal Government College, Sokoto, where he graduated with honours as ‘best technical drawing student.’

He was later offered admission to study Architecture at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria but declined the offer for a similar course at the Birnin Kebbi Polytechnic, Kebbi State from 1986 to 1988 – the institution that formally embedded in Jelani the culture of automobile design.

While at the Polytechnic, Jelani Aliyu did in depth research into home designs and construction, experimenting with materials and structures that could best be functional for buildings in the hot northern climate without necessarily using air conditioning system.

His effort earned him another accolade when upon graduation he was hired at the Ministry of Works, Sokoto, where he worked briefly.

An exceptionally curious Aliyu soon moved in 1990 to Detroit, Michigan, USA where he enrolled at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit under a Sokoto Scholarship board sponsorship.

Having always wanted to study Automobile Design, Jelani Aliyu became enthusiastic in automotive design and as he says: “The course was very practical and emphasis was put on creativity and the development of new designs to provide solutions.”

Upon graduation in 1994, he began his career with the design staff of General Motors, where he worked on the Buick Rendezvous and later became lead exterior designer of the Pontiac G6 and Astra, General Motors’ Opel Division and soon designed the Chevrolet Volt which was unveiled in 2007.

Married with three kids, Jelani was recently quoted as saying “I think with the new automotive policy, with the support the government is giving to the industry, it has begun to create the momentum needed. We just need to continue pushing it through the next stages, especially in terms of enabling a Nigerian vehicle that is conceptualized, designed and developed by Nigerians for Nigerians in Nigeria.

“When I say Nigerian vehicle, I don’t necessarily mean the whole thing, but a vehicle designed specifically for the Nigerian populace. A vehicle in tune with the history, culture, environment and economic structure of the people, and I think we are heading there.”

Despite delays due to the emission scandal, Audi is not loosing focus. The Audi Q4 is a done deal as the company is back on track.

The Q4 was announced during the automaker’s annual earning news conference. The SUV which will be introduced in 2019 will look like a lifted off-road Audi TT.

It will be on the same platform with the Q5 but with a sloping roofline. Therefore competing with the X4, GLC Coupe and Evoque.

Elon Musk is pretty keen on adding a pickup truck to the Tesla line-up. Hence, Tesla plans to reveal an electric pickup truck within the next 2 years.

The truck name is assumed to be Model P and this picture is a rendered image.

Elon Musk said..

“I am quite keen on building a truck and I think there’s a lot one can do with truck technology.”

“One of the things that I think should be present in trucks is something like an air suspension that dynamically adjusts the load and sorta keeps the angle of the truck correct and the ride height even and adjust the dampening in real-time.”

“I think it’s possible to produce a really well handling truck that feels good at any load point. That would be really great.”

Porsche cars have always had a sense of luxury and class.But what is coming might leave you speechless…or not.

The next Porsche we would be seeing soon is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS .

Taking some features from the second-generation 911 chassis and hardware from the GT3 RS, the rear-wheel drive GT2 RS will get rear-axle steering with Porsche Torque Vectoring, also a fully variable locking rear differential.

Power will be delivered by a turbocharged flat-six engine that’s related to 911 Turbo S’s unit but has been ramped up to produce close to 700bhp.

It is expected to hit 62mph in about 2.5sec and top speed to be over 205mph, beating the numbers of the GT3 RS and even the four-wheel drive Turbo S.

It will also produce more downforce from its track-spec bodywork than any other 911 on sale.

The company has not released much details ,but we hope to see and know all in a couple of months.

I have heard horror stories of one chance victims ,some killed,some robbed ,some left to die and my dad almost thrown over Third Mainland Bridge. Prevention is always better than cure.

What if you have fallen victim already ?,what can you do to come out alive or safe guard your property and money.This tips would help prepare you for a worse case scenario which I don’t pray happens.

1.Always Go Out With A Dummy ATM Card
This something I do as much as I can .Banking is now so easy ,at times you don’t even need a card to withdraw cash.

Here is what you should do, always have a card with you that has little or no money.Then when you need money ,transfer from another account into the account designated to the card with you.That way you won’t loose much money in case you are threatened to withdraw cash from your account.

There are stories of one chance robbers who use POS machines ,so do not underestimate them.

2.Know When To Strike
This is debatable if there is a chance to escape or jump out of the vehicle you might want to take it,or you might even want to cry out for help .But you have to consider what can possibly go wrong :

You could get killed(eg getting shot).

You could get thrown out of a fast moving vehicle.

Its safer to cry for help,or try to fight back when the vehicle is in a very busy area or at a traffic light.This is why you should always be alert for weird eye contacts between so called “passengers” and “conductors”.

If they have a weapon ,you might want to rethink this.

3.Ladies Should Have An Extra Line Of Defense
I once heard a horror story of a student of my school,who had pepper stuffed down her private part and I think she was also raped.

Its wise for ladies to have an extra line of defense ,if you wear skirts wear a “bum short” underneath .While this is not completely fail proof ,it acts as a delay,in cases like this every second matters,because it might save you from mishaps.

4.Secure Your Self
While most Nigerians don’t even know what pepper spray is ,its safe especially for the ladies to carry one around.Also don’t underestimate what a razor blade can do for you ,so have one handy.Aim at the eyes and spray hard.

If you have a razor blade aim at the thighs,if you are lucky to hit the femoral artery ,you would completely immobilize him and he would most likely die in 5 minutes(I am not saying you should kill,but you know your life is at stake here ,so its self defense).

The face is also a good place to aim at with the razor .

5.Stop Showing Off
Some one chance robberies are opportunistic ones.They make a move when they see a possibility of gain.So quit talking about large amount of money on the phone and stop flashing your expensive phones.

6.Always Make Sure You Are Traceable
While there may be privacy concerns ,its safe to make sure a family member or friend knows your location at all times .I found an app for that here.You can as well look for other apps ,just search for “family tracker ” or related terms.Don’t forget to leave your data on at all times.

7.Study Your Environment
If non of the above works and it turns out to be a case of kidnap,make sure you study your environment very well as you are being taken away.Create a mental map,as it might be useful in the event that you escape.

Honda has just introduced a robotic lawnmover. It is called Miimo and it comes in 2 versions and 3 programmable cutting modes.

HRM 310 model is cheaper with 22.2 volt/1.8 Ah battery and it can cut half-acre of lawn in 30 minutes. While the HRM 520 model with 3.6Ah battery can do 50% more work and full battery charge can last an hour.

They both weigh 11.8kg and equipped with 360 degrees monitoring sensors which helps the mower identify and back-off from obstacles.

Miimo return to its charging station itself when the battery is low.

You can set 3 cutting modes which are: random, directional and mixed mode.

It has an anti-theft alarm which goes off when lifted from the ground to prevent it from being stolen. A security PIN can also be used to resume operation.

Some of the reactions revealed that speed limits are usually not appreciated. So I thought we should look at some of the possible benefits of speed limits on Nigerian road:

Reduced accidents:
It reduces overall risk of road accidents as well as its severity if it eventually occurs. Speed limits generally reduces lane hopping, unnecessary manoeuvres and speed into intersections and curves which makes the road safer.

Reduced fuel consumption:
The more you flog your car engine with the RPM tending towards the red zone, the more the fuel consumption. Speed limits definitely reduces such aggressive driving.

Reduced environmental pollution:
The lower the incidence of rapid acceleration, deceleration and braking, the lower the vehicle emission which reduces air pollution. It’s a good feeling to know that you are contributing your quota to saving the whole world when driving within speed limits.

Improved health:
More relaxed driving and less adrenaline rush is absolutely good for your health. Driving on Nigerian roads is a sure recipe for high blood pressure but speed limits can reduce such effect.

Lower maintenance cost and cars last longer:
Over-revving your vehicle engine and slamming the brakes adversely effect engines, brakes, tyres and other vehicle components.. They tend to wear faster. Lower speed cuts down maintenance cost and slows down depreciation therefore vehicles last longer.

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator is a luxury SUV with uncompromising comfort.. coupled with a big 10 inches display screen that looks like a TV and a piano key shifter.

A twin-turbocharged 3.5L engine, generating 450 horsepower and a 10-speed transmission puts the driver and passengers at ease.

It is 90kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks to the aluminum body. It also comes standard with WIFI and wireless charging as well as a speed adaptive headlight that spread at low speed and focus at high speed. Just to name a few.

The new Infiniti QX80 is less terrible to look at. The new exterior design language is definitely going to be a selling point for the monstrous flagship.

It is bigger than most SUVs with its 5 metres length, almost 2 metres height and more than 2 metres width.

Just revealed in New York, it looks absolutely luxurious and spacious. The double extended exhaust is already tickling enthusiasts.

According to Infiniti’s president, Roland Krueger: “The QX80 Monograph represents a design study into our expertise or exterior design. It shows our concept of luxury and style on the road, and is an exploration of how we could enhance our future Infiniti offering in the luxury SUV segment.”

Could this be the replacement for the Toyota FJ Cruiser? Although it is slightly smaller.

The Toyota FT-4X appears with a rugged exterior and futuristic interior.. The photos got leaked ahead of this week’s New York Auto Show.

According to Kelly Blue Book, the FT-4X measures 4249mm long, 1821mm wide and 1623mm tall.

The interior is absolutely simplistic with minimal buttons and dials and a centre armrest that doubles as a sleeping bag.

The FT-4X is expected to run on a four-cylinder engine matched with a four-wheel drive system.

The rate at which SUVs and Crossovers are being introduced into the automobile market is alarming.. At this rate, that’s probably all we’ll be driving in the near future.

Mercedes is preparing a GLB crossover which is expected to sit between the GLA and GLC as the name implies.

Being a baby G-Wagon, it is expected to be more upright and rugged in style than the other 2 siblings.

The design will tend towards the Ener-G-Force concept (pictured) that was revealed in 2012.

The Mercedes GLB will be 181 inches long.. however, an extended package will be available with extra row to accommodate 7 passengers. There will also be an off-road package which would further emphasize benzers’ rugged profile.

We’ll be getting four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines as well as a top end AMG GLB 45 getting upwards of 400bhp.

Those blades are like Commodus Vs Maximus in the Gladiator movie. The only difference is these blades will not hit each other which even makes it more scary.

The helicopter is called “Kaman K-Max” and it is used to haul heavy items using long cables. Its slim body helps to improve the pilot’s visibility.
