The BMW X3 was the car that launched the mid-size SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) segment in 2003. Since then, BMW has recorded more than 1.5 million new registrations of the X3 across the two model generations so far. And now the new BMW X3 is set to write the next chapter in this success story with three model variants (xLine, M Sport and Luxury Line trim). The third generation all new BMW X3 follows in its predecessors’ tyre tracks by combining rugged off-road looks with a sporting presence. Its familiar proportions, including very short front and rear overhangs, shine the spotlight on the perfect 50:50 distribution of weight between the front and rear axle. The potent dynamic intent of the new BMW X3 is highlighted by a chunky kidney grille and foglamps featuring a hexagonal design for the first time on a BMW X model. At the rear, the light clusters (whose three-dimensional look in optional full-LED guise give them considerable visual impact), markedly downward-sloping roof spoiler and twin exhaust tailpipes bring matters to a suitably muscular conclusion. The interior of the new BMW X3 displays unbeatable fit and finish and material quality, and is even classier and more luxurious than its predecessor. Comfort levels are further elevated by a host of new equipment options like three-zone automatic climate control, the Ambient Air package, active seat ventilation, the cargo function of the standard 40:20:40 split/folding rear seat backrests and the panoramic glass roof that brings extra airiness to the interior and further enhances perceived quality. Another new equipment item is the optional BMW Display Key, which not only locks and unlocks the BMW X3 by radio remote control, but also shows a variety of status information on the car and serves as the control unit for the optional auxiliary heating, for example. Optimised combination of dynamic sharpness and ride comfort. Even more efficient line-up of engines and intelligent lightweight design. Two diesel engines and three petrol units will be available from launch (or shortly afterwards) for the new BMW X3. The 360 hp BMW X3 M40i has combined fuel consumption of 34.5 mpg. The BMW X3 xDrive30i produces 252 hp with combined fuel consumption 38.2 mpg. All the engine variants will team up as standard with an optimised version of the eight-speed Steptronic transmission. BMW ConnectedDrive: semi-automated driving and cutting-edge connectivity. When it comes to the BMW Personal CoPilot features focusing on driver assistance and (semi-)automated driving, the new BMW X3 can be specified as an option with the latest generation of Active Cruise Control and the Driving Assistant Plus safety package, including Steering and lane control assistant, Lane Change Assistant and Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision protection. This extensive line-up of assistance systems puts clear water between the new BMW X3 and its direct rivals. The second pillar of BMW ConnectedDrive – alongside the BMW Personal CoPilot driver assistance systems – is formed by BMW ConnectedDrive Services and apps. As a result, the new BMW X3 now also features BMW Connected. Working on the basis of a flexible platform, the Open Mobility Cloud, this new integrated digital concept for enhanced personal mobility uses various touchpoints (such as smartphones and smartwatches) to integrate the car seamlessly into the user’s digital life. This means, for example, that it can transfer mobility-related information, such as addresses from calendar entries, from a smartphone into the car, enter them automatically as destinations into the navigation system and calculate the optimum departure time for the journey. Gesture control allows various navigation and infotainment system functions to be operated intuitively using finger and hand gestures. Meanwhile, the likewise optional Voice Assistant lets the driver use everyday language to have their requests turned into the appropriate actions instead of having to use set spoken commands. And the optional Head-Up Display enables the most important driving-related information to be projected directly into the driver’s field of vision. The Head-Up Display in the new BMW X3 is unrivalled in its segment for graphics, resolution and display options. Estimated starting price in Nigeria is N22.6m Tell us what you love most about the new BMW X3 https://autojosh.com/new-bmw-x3/

Railway or train accidents in Nigeria are close to zero ,let’s just say most people get lucky all the time .We have seen and heard of cases where people did not get lucky. What are we doing wrong ?.Let us find out 1.Hanging On Trains Most Nigerians like anything free ,I see a lot of people hanging on trains . There are so many sometimes , you would think they are more than the people in the train. This is not safe, your life is worth more than the 300 Naira you are trying to save . If you don’t have money, ask !,even if you get embarrased you would still get help. Your life is important !. 2.Selling On Railway Lines My mum told me of a story that happened years ago at Tejuosho ,how a woman couldn’t pack her goods on time before getting torn into pieces. I know you are trying to make your daily bread, but who would you feed with the bread if you are no more. Stay Safe !. 3.Walking Too Close To The Railway When a train is passing by, stay as far away as possible . The train is wider than the tracks , you could get hooked up and dragged along . You could get hit by debris as the train passes by,this could lead to serious injuries or even death. Remember Goliath ? 4.Waiting On The Railway Line You shouldn’t stand on the railway line for any reason . You can easily get carried away and forget where you are standing . Did I hear you say “the horn is loud enough” ?,Are you fast enough ?. Thats if you even hear it ,the human mind can easily shut out our other senses when one is focused ,for example ,pressing your phone and smiling sheepishly at Nkechi’s profile picture. 5.Driving Over In A Traffic Jam This is a very very dangerous thing some drivers do during a traffic jam.I noticed this especially at Jibowu. Always leave enough space and make sure your front is clear enough before you proceed. You could get stuck and it might be too late .Never stay on the tracks !. Enjoyed this ? Which of these are you guilty of ? Let’s hear from you Kindly share and comment By Donald3d https://autojosh.com/5-train-railway-safety-mistakes-nigerians-make-often/

Do you remember the old Peugeot 404 and 504 pick up trucks? Sure, it’s been a while and they’ve been gone like forever. They gave Peugeot that unparalleled prestige at the time.. In a bid to have a new workhorse, a new Peugeot pick up truck has been birthed. It is based on the design of the Chinese pick up (Zhengzhou Nissan Auto Rich) . The pick-up is aimed at the African market due to the past success of the 404 and 504. According to Peugeot, the new pickup truck has a length of 5.08m (197.2in), a ground clearance between 210mm (8.3in) and 215mm (8.5in), depending on the model, a 1.4m (55.1in) and 1.39m (54.7in) wide bed, with anchoring hooks, and a maximum payload of 815kg (1,797lbs). It is powered by a 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine that makes 115hp and 207lb-ft of torque, combined with a 5-speed stick shift. Although pictures of the interior haven’t been released, there are two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions, with the latter bringing 4 High and 4 Low modes from which customers can choose from. The Peugeot Pick-up Truck will commence sales from September in Africa. Give us your candid opinion about the vehicle in the comment section. If a child is below 13 years old or not big enough for the front seat, then they don't have any business seating in the front seat. It's so sad spotting parents driving with little babies or 3 year old kids in the front seat. Some of these kids even stand up to have a good view of the road ahead when the car is in motion.. Note: It can't get more cruel than this. Babies that are below 1 year old should ride in a car seat facing the rear of the car.. They can face forward or backward between age 1-4 depending on which is more convenient. 4-7 year olds should use a forward facing car seat after which they can use the booster seat until age 13.. or when seat belts are good enough for them. In addition, height and growth level also have a role to play so you may not rely on age only. Let me spare you all this plenty gist and stick to the topic for today. 5 reasons front seats are very dangerous for your kids 1) Airbag may not deploy The front passenger seat of most cars have a weight sensor that turn on the front passenger airbag if the sensor registers a weight up to 30kg (this figure may vary). So if you have a 20kg kid on that seat, the airbag will be off and an major impact is probably sending that child right through the windscreen.. TOO BAD.. You certainly don't want that. 2) Airbag may injure or kill the child if it deploys If the passenger seat sensor senses the child's weight and the airbag deploys, this may be catastrophic. The front airbags are made to protect adults. They are very powerful when they deploy and this may injure or suffocate the child. 3) Seat belt won't fit them When we were kids, we used to fit our Daddy's cloths, shoes and belts.. Guess what, they were always to big for us.. Obviously, you can't have a child's car seat in front.. so imagine trying to restrain a 5 year old with the seat belt, it's either a mission impossible or a suicide mission. It would probably injure them rather than save them. 4) They can fiddle with stuffs and distract the driver How many times have you yelled at your kids.. "stop that!".. "don't touch that!". They'll always look for something to touch. That's their specialty.. then you put them in the front passenger's seat close to the gear lever, controls on the dash, power window and door switches. Sorry pal, they just can't stop fiddling with all that. 5) No child lock on the front doors I got cracked up when I saw 2 kids arguing that the back doors would never open from inside. They grumbled as they clamoured that it's only Daddy and Mummy's doors that do open. Little do they know it's for their safety. A safety feature children who seat in front are deprived of. You have any to add? Tell us in the comment section. Don't forget to like, rate, share and download our android app. https://autojosh.com/5-reasons-kids-should-not-sit-in-the-front-seat-of-your-car/

Electric vehicles are catching the attention of the whole world ,the crave is turning into an obsession. But electric cars have two major problems ; range and recharging time ,hopefully a recent breakthrough could end this problems. Stanford University researchers have worked out a way to transmit electric charges via a wireless medium to a nearby moving object. The team transmitted 1 milliwatt of charge – 10 million times less than what’s needed for operating an electric car -it’s small but a promising step to something bigger. Here is what Shanhui Fan – a professor of electrical engineering and senior author of the study- had to say “We still need to significantly increase the amount of electricity being transferred to charge electric cars, but we may not need to push the distance too much more” The system is envisoned as a forerunner for a charge-as-you-drive mode.In theory ,this means you would not need to stop your car to charge it. This technology is based on an existing experiment on wireless charging ,which was fired up by the folks at MIT (Massachusetts Institute Of Technology) in 2007. The original set up was based on magnetic resonances. The electric charge is transmitted using an oscillating magnetic field. This set up requires the charging circuits to be in alignment and requires adjustment, done manually . To make it commercially viable ,since not everybody is tech oriented,Standford researchers added a feedback resistor and voltage amplifier to the system to make everything work automatically !. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nkOgiTxfEs This is an awesome step into the future, because it wont only be useful in cars but mobile phones and so many other electronics. What do you think ? Let’s hear from you . Kindly share too ! Takata which is a Japanese parts supplier is now ready to file for bankruptcy. This comes after the company supplied defective airbag inflators being responsible for the largest automotive recall in history. A US auto parts maker, Key Safety Systems is already interested in buying over Takata’s assets for the some of 180 billion yen (N592 billion). This acquisition will be concluded under the name of a newly found company which would continue supplying airbags, seatbelts and other automotive products Takata’s problems started after being sanctioned for supplying about 100 million defective airbag inflators to automakers around the world. These inflators explode with excessive force when a crash occurs spreading fragments allover the cabin of the vehicle. This has killed at least 16 people and more than 180 have been injured. Now, they’ve been found guilty of crime and fined $1 billion ( N370 billion) in settlement. They have already paid some victims.. one victim got $25 million (N9 billion) and another got $125 million (N46 billion) while some others will be paid in 2018. Do we have any Nigerian that has a claim from Takata? Driving Skills For Life (DSFL) is a yearly training sponsored by Ford Motor Company and its Nigerian distributor, Coscharis Motors. It’s a 2 day programme organised to equip Nigerians with proper driving skills as well as safety tips.. through members of the Nigeria Auto Journalists’ Association (NAJA) who were in attendance. So when next you read some safety tips on AutoJosh, I probably learnt them from DSFL. The training had both theory and practical.. During the practical section, each participant had the opportunity to test drive and experience the extreme off-road capabilities of the four wheel drive Ford Ranger on different terrains.. We also had a first hand experience of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) in the Ford Figo at speeds ranging from 60-100 km/h. The most challenging part of the training was the drunk-driving simulation. All trainees drove the Ford Focus with drunk-driving goggles which made it seem like we were driving under the influence of alcohol. Sincerely, i really wonder how people manage to drink and drive. According to Mr Abiona Babarinde who is the General Manager – Marketing and Corporate Communications, at Ford/Coscharis Motors, “Against this background, Ford is very pleased to be able to offer its proven road safety tool in the form of the Driving Skills for Life programme” “This time around we are concentrating in working with the local motoring journalists and we trust they will transfer all their learnings on the DSFL course to their readers and viewers to spread the importance of safe driving and road safety.” The Driving Skills For Life was launched in the 2003 in United States of America, since then, the training has been adopted in several other countries all over the world. The programme is aimed at providing information and improving driving skills in prospective and existing drivers.. in order to ensure a safe environment for humanity. Note: Don’t drink and drive, it’s no fun in anyway.. https://autojosh.com/ford-nigeria-sponsors-driving-skills-for-life-in-nigeria/

Many other SUV models have been given five stars overall ratings by the National Highway Traffic Administration, but all got four star ratings on rollover risk due to the high center of gravity that they possess. But the electric-powered Model X with its falcon- winged doors that open vertically, has a heavy lithium battery pack on the bottom of the car that provides the power, and thus has a much lower center of gravity than the typical SUV. And besides the risk of a rollover, the Tesla SUV was also tested for how safe it is in head-on collision, side collision and swerving into a pole or a tree on it side and the results were amazing and comforting too. Tesla said that those tests found out that the Model X passengers and driver have a 93% chance of walking away from an accident without serious injury or no injury at all which makes it second highest on record behind Tesla’s own Model S. This is actually the first time NHTSA has tested the Tesla Model X SUV since it went on sale since late 2015 for prices ranging from N30m ($82,500) to N36m ($100,000), although Tesla didnt reach full production until last year. https://autojosh.com/tesla-model-x-suv-rated-five-stars-for-safety/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Are you a driving maniac who is in love with over-speeding?.. If over-speeding and passing every other driver on the road is your hubby,.. I’ve got bad news for you. The bad news is these 6 disadvantages of over-speeding. Disadvantages of over-speeding: 1) More fuel consumption Cars are designed to be driven up to a certain speed range to get the best gas mileage. Therefore over speeding will lead to a higher fuel consumption. The higher the speed especially if above 120km/h, the more fuel the car will consume. 2) Increased possibility of accident Crash, death, severe injury, manslaughter.. I am sure you don’t like the sound of all that. Especially on our Nigerian roads where we have potholes, jaywalkers, okadas, Danfos etc.. Over-speeding gives you a shorter time to respond to obstructions on your path.. Note: a fraction of a second can mean a lot of difference between life and death. Drive at reasonable speed or within speed limits for your safety and that of those around you. 3) Damage of vehicle The damage could result from a crash, potholes you could not avoid, engine wear etc. Your car tyres also have speed ratings and could get damaged if you go beyond the recommended speed rating. Even if you argue that frequently driving your car at high RPMs does not damage your car, I am sure you’ll still agree lower RPMs are relatively better for your engine. 4) Air pollution Levels of air pollution can be significantly reduced by less aggressive driving and by simply reducing your speed. Researchers studied air quality on some Amsterdam roads, where the speed limit was lowered from 100 km/h to 80 km/h, and found that levels of some pollutants were reduced by up to 15 per cent. This means you could be saving the whole world as well as posterity by not driving too fast. 5) Bad for your health Speeding can increase your anxiety level.. this is okay if it occurs once in a while. However, wanting to be the road champion 24/7 could lead to chronic anxiety. This definitely comes with a bunch of health issues from physical health degradation to mental disorder.. I am sure you don’t want to go crazy with road rage. 6) It could actually increase your travel time Sure, you can save 12 minutes by going 20 km/h faster on a 1 hour trip. However, this greatly reduces your response time.. and a single miscalculation can cost you the whole day. The great danger is moving way faster than the normal flow of traffic. You may be careful but can you vouch for other road users? I bet you can’t Kindly add yours and let’s all drive to stay alive…. https://autojosh.com/6-disadvantages-of-over-speeding/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

The Peel P50 older model was first launched at the 1964 British Motorcycle Show held at Earl’s Court Exhibition Center which only had a compartment for the driver and a gear box that didn’t have the reverse function so parking it required pushing. It landed in the Guinness Book of Records for being the smallest production car ever made, but its development didn’t stop here, as the Peel Engineering Company, based on the Isle of Man, eventually came up with a newer model – The Trident. Featured as “a saloon car comfort with scooter cost”, and acclaimed to be cheaper than walking, thanks to its 49cc engine, which achieved a top speed of 38mph (61km/h) and reportedly returned 100 UK mpg (83.27 US mpg / 2.8 l/100 km), the Peel Trident added a new body design, highlighted by a clear plastic dome. It was built for two occupants, but after testing, it could only accommodate the driver , who still had to step out of the car to “park” it since it gearbox still lacked reverse. https://autojosh.com/this-is-the-tiniest-car-you-have-ever-seen-peel-p50-photos/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

The Hyundai Kona has been introduced to sit below the Santa Fe and Tucson. It comes with a fresh design and new-to-hyundai technology. “With its true SUV genes, a progressive design and premium features, Kona reflects the lifestyle of modern customers, enhancing the brand’s appeal and attracting new customers” said Thomas Schmid, Hyundai Europe’s chief operating officer. The Kona will go on sale in Korea next month, followed by North America and Europe. It is coming with front and all-wheel-drive. The name “Kona” was taken from a Hawaiian coastal region as Hyundai likes to name its SUVs after travel destination just like Tucson and Santa Fe. The two petrol engines available at launch will be a 1.0LT-GDI with a six-speed manual transmission and a 1.6L T-GDI with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The 1.0L unit will produce 118bhp, with a 0-62mph time of 12.0sec and a top speed of 112mph. The more powerful 1.6-litre petrol unit has 174bhp with 0-63mph in 7.9sec and top speed of 127mph. The Kona will get 2 drive modes: Normal and Sport and some with 2.0-litre MPI Atkinson engine would also be available. Sangyup Lee, Hyundai’s head of styling, said: “We wanted to create a character that was strong. As a design, creating an icon is a tough challenge. The overall first impression is about dynamic character.” The interior looks premium and comes with a 5.0-inch TFT screen as standard, with an optional 8.0-inch colour touchscreen available. In a first for Hyundai, the Kona is available with a Display Audio system that features connected services, including smartphone syncing using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. A wireless smartphone charging pad is available as an option. It also gets an eight speaker sound system from Krell. Other features are head-up display autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, rear-cross traffic alert and blind spot detection. The £15,000 price tag should be in the range of N12m in Nigeria after shipping and clearing. https://autojosh.com/hyundai-launches-the-kona/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun
