Do not be silly .

It should have been obvious to you fro thenget go,if you have any sense ,that I was challenging your claim.

We were talking about land, within the context of freehold and native law.

Where does common law come into any of that.

You just threw it in to appear knowledgeable when in fact you are an empty vessel

You claimed Nigeria is a common law country

What the hell is a common law country?

What has common law got to do with what we were discussing?
In Nigeria Native law over land holding is the supreme title where proven. It cannot be revoked and land held under Native law can only be acquired in the public interest.
I believe you've now been educated on Common Law regardless of your stupidity.

How do one conclude a land transaction with a title holder in Nigeria? It's obvious you're irredeemable.

Come on, I urge all Igbos and every other person buying land to:

I) negotiate with the proper title holder/holders.

2) bargain which ever way you deem suitable. If agreed by the other party, draw the contract. If you offer more money for a freehold, and the other party agrees. Go for it! If the other party insists on a reversionary lease, accept it but don't agree to a "surrender" clause to your building/buildings. There are legal phrases to compel both parties to renewal after reversion. Negotiate it. You have freedom of contract.

Cheap

You claimed common law operates in Nigeria can you substantiate that?
If you know what common law is you would not make such an ignorant claim

Once again what is common law?

Good that you want to learn. In a nutshell, the Common Law legal system has its origins in the UK. It dates back to when King Henry II initiated the idea of a similar and unified legal system throughout his kingdom. Hence, the birth of the phrase "Common law".

Omonakooda, the system of "Common Law" is rooted in the doctrine of precedent, stare decisis and hierarchy. This means that the lower and inferior courts have to abide with the ruling of the superior courts. Excluding obiter dictum; obiter is a side statement. Nigeria and Engish cases are still cited in court rooms in both countries.

Thus, Nigeria's legal system is chiefly grounded in this system in addition to Sharia and Customary laws. Coming back to the discussion, contracts are integral part of the Common Law system. And the principles of the law of contract still applies to individuals who chooses to enter into a contractual relationship.

Deceive yourself

Is freehold in the Nigerian constitution.?
*Smart clauses" to keep you happy and deluded
When the time comes you will be shown historical clauses ,if you are still around.
In Lagos State you hold land under native law or at the pleasure of the governors.
The only exception is the former FCT of the Colony I.e Ikoyi ,VI and some parts ,not all, of Lagos Island
You cannot acquire what the giver cannot give

Ancestral land is held in Trust. It cannot be sold. It can only be leased.

Is there any clause telling you you bought land for eternity or in perpetuity?
Is their any clause conferring rights to minerals lying under the land?
You are deceiving yourself.

Ancestral land is not subject to inheritance tax. Any other land you can be taxed on when you sell at a profit or try to will o to your descendants
There are so many ways we can deal with you If you are external so don't gloat
Most of the houses in Lagos are built on land designated AGRICULTURAL use only.
Government turns a blind eye but the planning code has not changed.
That means your mansion can be demolished without warning afterwards it remains yours if they don't fine you and ask you to pay for demolition but you can only use it for cassava so don't celebrate too soon.

Just be quiet and humble

You can embolden your hopes any way you deem fit. The bottom line is that the doctrine of freedom of contract encompasses all the jaundiced, primitive phrases you're banking on.

The last time I checked, Nigeria is still a common law country and the system of laissez-faire still applies as per how individuals chooses whom and how to contract. The judges' construction in this regard wouldn't be anything unusual. My little friend, don't wallow in ignorance.

For your memory upgrade:

Conquer: one country or group of people conquers another, they take complete control of their land.
During 1936, Mussolini conquered Abyssinia
. [Collins dic.]

Just as Alimi the Fulani conquered Ilorin, took over the administrative authority of the territory, with the Yoruba surbordination in the full glare of the world as opposed to every inch of Igboland traditionally and politically controlled by native Igbos.

Pauperism is best exemplified with the destitution that is prompting a people to randomly sell 67 percent of the stretch of land from Mile 2 to Badagry to the very Igbo you love to hate. Including so many other areas. Critical thinking and evaluation are what you lack.

He has been a part of the successive oppressive regimes in Nigeria. Thats the much I know about him, and also that he is a Fulani from Ilorin.

And may he have the courage to tell the president whenever he is making a wrong decision or being advised to make a wrong decision.

You don't get it. It's all about Fulani regardless of state of origin. Gambari is a direct descendant of Alimi, the Fulani conqueror of Ilorin. It's all about Fulani minority conquest.

While the Immigration from the south to the north would mostly constitute of business people that aim to establish medium and large sized businesses.

And how does this "advantage" put them ahead of others...And why have Togo, Benin Republic, Gambia and so on not leveraged on it to economically supersede landlocked states like Rwanda, Ethiopia, Botswana and others?

TONY ALLEN was the founder of Afro beat and not co-founder. Fela attested to the fact as well.

The bridge is located in one of the local government councils where you find the ethnic Igbo minority, Umuezeokoha, in Benue state. These people have been crying about marginalization and begging to be merged with their brothers in Ebonyi state. Lord Lugard ceded this part of Igboland to "Northern Nigeria". They've not known happiness ever since.
Politics / Re: What Is The Estimated Population Of The Three Major Ethnicities In Nigeria? by AyakaDunukofia: 12:39pm On Apr 12, 2020
Current political allies and benefactors won't allow accurate census figures to prevail. However, those who created Nigeria and the superpowers knows our correct figures and the standing of each group. But unfortunately, they are now being influenced by the group in power at a given time.

For instance, Igbo was above the Yoruba in numbers for two years at the CIA factbook but have since the last one month or so dropped below the Yoruba with 0.3%, standing at 15.2 while the Yoruba got promoted to 15.5%.

Then, surprisingly, Fulani, one of the tinniest groups in Nigeria is now the number FOUR biggest population in Nigeria displacing Efik/Ibibio, Tiv, Ijaw, Edo and other numerically visible groups. These are what the CIA is telling the goats they assume we are. The country remains the big joke it's always been.

LarrySun:
The events of the first Mmanwu I witnessed as a child would forever remain stamped on my consciousness. Among the thirteen masqueraders that entertained the crowd that hot afternoon, the acrobatic displays of the Agaba was nonpareil; even the other twelve seemed to be mere followers of Agaba. The crown of its head – like that of a peacock, or the tail of a thoroughbred – swung majestically as it danced and we cheered. Unlike the others that would occasionally take some few steps towards terror-stricken children and cause them to dash off like major Temple Run characters, the Agaba’s interest was to impress the crowd with its warrior-like prowess and magical manifestations.

The most amazing feat Agaba performed was its demonstration of the impossible; it crossed the river to the other side and back absent canoe. Agaba walked on water before our very eyes! This was something no other masquerader had ever done in the history of our village. The crowd roared with surprise and admiration as they clapped their hands. I remember the chief priests nodding proudly as if they were the ones who performed the miracle.

Agaba returned just as dry as it was before making the sensational display. As if that was not enough to scare the broad daylight out of us children – out of me particularly, something else we didn’t see coming sufficed. Just out of nowhere, fire caught Agaba’s clothing made chiefly of bamboo rafters. No one knew how it happened but later rumours revealed that one jealous masquerader from the other twelve had betrayed Agaba by setting fire on him through sorcery.

Agaba’s power was probably not strong enough to douse the fire; and so there before the hundreds of people watching, the masquerader pulled off its coat.

Behold, Agaba was the village’s Catholic priest!

It's interesting the catholic priest was the sorcerous Agaba grin This must have come as a rude shock to the village's catholic community. Such has the potential to earn him excommunication. Well, ome nani bu ome nani.
Culture / Re: 25 Most Popular Igbo Masquerades by AyakaDunukofia: 11:46pm On Mar 15, 2020
Agaba:
The Agaba masquerade as a character is that of a warrior represented in its name that literally connotes “lets go”. The Agaba major attribute is warrior-like prowess, which specializes, in ritual manifestations. The chanting that accompanies the Agaba cut across ethnic dialects and cultures among the Igbos.

Op, I am not so convinced with your explanation concerning Agaba. It literally means let's-go in Igbo. But however, means warrior, belligerence, lion in the neighbouring Idoma land. The Idoma paramount ruler is addressed as Agaba-Idu signifying the lion. My point is that the meaning and symbol of Agaba in Idoma resonates with the symbol in Igboland rather than the ordinary meaning you gave in Igbo which I thought was far removed from the concept of Agaba.

I don't know what the government at the centre is driving at? What is their contention in the decentralized security issue?

If each of the states of a region or geopolitical zone form a security outfit, it would have amounted to a regional security organization and achieve the same objectives as a regional security network. Giving that the respective states would still be coordinating their operations without breaking any law.

So, can someone explain to me the reason behind Abuja's insistence on state and not regional security concept?

Should The Supreme Court Reverse Itself on The Imo Gubernatorial Ruling?

Court To Look Into The Miraculous Results In The Omitted 388 Polling Units.

The Imo State 2019 Governorship Election is just far from over, as the Supreme Court sets to hear the case brought before it f by Imeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a review.

Ihedioha is asking the Supreme Court to reverse its decision sacking him as the Imo State governor on January 14, 2020.

Recall that the Supreme Court in a judgement still raising dusts in both the Nigerian Judiciary, among political parties and the international community, declared Hope Uzodinma of the APC, winner of the election after he presented a controversial results before it, and the panel horridly accepted without thoroughly looking into the matter.

After the declaration, Nigerians troop to the street to demand that the Supreme Court reverse itself, and therefore, Ihedioha went back to the court to ask for the Supreme Court to correct itself and give him back his mandate.

Uzodinma and controversies

Before the Imo State Governorship election, Hope Uzodinma was indicted by the Presidential Task Force for diverting $11 million (N3,960,000000 billion) meant for sea dredging and currently has a bench warrant for his arrest issued by an Abuja Magistrate Court.

Uzodinma is also facing a criminal charges for issuing a dud cheaque of N200 million.

The results in 3,135 polling units.

Ihedioha - 273,404

Uche Nwosu - 190,364

Ifeanyi Ararume - 114,676

Hope Uzodima - 96,458

The Miraculous Results In The Omitted 388 Polling Units.

Ihedioha - 0

Uche Nwosu - 0

Ifeanyi Ararume - 0

Hope Uzodima - 213,615

Where did Hope get 213,615 in just 388 PUs and other candidates scored 0?

The Supreme Court will have to tell Nigerians.

Should The Supreme Court Reverse Itself on The Imo Gubernatorial Ruling?

The first question that should be asked is, "can the Supreme Court reverse itself?

Nigerian legal system gives room for a reversal in a certain circumstances including where the judgement was obtained fraudulent representations in the case herein.

And it is on this base stakeholders and Nigerians are asking that the Supreme Court review the judgement and reverse itself

Nigerians are also calling on the National Judiciary Council (NJC) to sanction the justices involved in the matter, alongside the CJN

Nigerians are waiting patiently.

What do you think about the issue?

Source: opera news

At the bolded, yes? Nigeria's legal system is rooted in the common law system. Although rare, there are instances where the House of Lords (UK Supreme Court ) departed from its own ruling. It will not be unprecedented if it happen in Nigeria.

If they back away for whatever reason(s), it is strictly their view of the situation at hand before you start lying to your children that South West and South East agreed on Amotekun and the West betrayed the East because you are the only people that can be betrayed you dont betray anybody according to the elders in your region.

Must one have to "consult" to form a connection with the other? No. The issue of regional police, its acceptance across the board, and the Yoruba deepening it to a point of no return, is unprecedented. It has by default created an inter regional alliance. There is no more room for treachery either from the SE or SW giving the dire situation in the country. Hard lesson.

Chasing around unarmed youths is what I cannot understand the reasoning behind it. The right to a peaceful assembly so long as it is peaceful cannot be taken away by the Nigerian police.

There are urgent national security issues that should be of great concern to the APC led government than attempting to stifle a legal, legitimate and non violent agitation.
