Thank you very much biolabee and ileobatojo. The babycentre page really helped. I'll read more to him and get flashcards while working on changing his school. |
Thanks biolabee. We speak English and Yoruba at home. As regard speech, he didn't talk much until he was 2years. Now he talks and understands most of what is said to him. I've heard of Corona but i think that would be on d high side. We're middle income earners. |
You also should register with ICCON (Institute of chartered chemists of Nigeria). |
I'm worried that my 2yrs 7month old son cant recognise any letter or number. He also doesn't recognise basic shapes and colours. I've been trying to do my bit at home (through some boardbooks) but i feel they are not doing much to help in school. He recites the alphabets and numbers but i don't think that's enough. I'm considering changing his school in the third term. Kindly reccommend any good school around Gbagada or Oworosoki. |

Very good thread. I've drawn quite a lot of inspiration from u. How much have u spent from plastering stage till d present stage. |
Superpower without power? Impossicant! |
Learn to read properly b4 commenting. The late Akanbi was an engineer in an oil firm and could afford some luxury. Ur insinuations are uncalled for. Save them for some other day. Toyin akanbi Rip Godman_n: Always your thought. I do not wish any person dead, but the way Nigerians live their lives in frauds and cheating; so many deserve to die. It is always the bad people and never what we are reaping what we sowed. Only God will judge |
I was shocked when i saw this thread on fp. I was expecting the usual 'kidnap for ransom' story. This is really pathetic. May God give his family the strenght to bear this loss. RIP |
I stumbled on old adverts for ava soap, omo (remember those 2 girls), joy girl (where d cobbler used white polish on black shoes), elephant blue detergent, etc. They are tagged 'NTA adverts' or so. |
Ava bathing soap, rin soap, elephant blue detergent, daily need toothpaste. For those in lagos, we also had Cross and happy day bar soap |

Take the job. A friend of mine got a federal job while working as an attendant in a hotel in Abuja. She told me she was exceptional while working there- very polite and responsive to guest needs even though her salary was 25k. One of d guests linked her up after discovering she was a graduate obichijiokeobi: A year after my youth service, I got a job as a waiter in an hotel in Abuja; am confessed whether to take up d job, because am nt doing anything for now. What do u advice? |
This journalist is falling in love already. I pity her |
@op. Do u have his permission to take dat pic. U are infringing on his privacy. As a lawyer u ought to know better. |
Ah! Nigerian nurses are terrible except for very few good ones. I went to d general hospital cos i had a pain in my left ear sometime in 2011. The nurse who handled d preliminaries was rude to every one on d waiting line. It was so obvious that a senior nurse who noticed how i felt met me at d exit and apologised for d ill-treatment. |
Near CAC church? One would not be able to sleep. |
Cos naija is a patrilineal society |
GBAM! This is an experienced person talking here Ngutor: I think you have to first define what is unemployed and distinguish between wedding and marriage. It is sad to see many adults wait for someone to hand them a 9 to 5 schedule for them to see themselves as emplopyed and successful. What happens if they both loose them jobs after the marriage? Know of a couple(former bankers) guy lost his job a week after the wedding, lady a month later. Two years on and they dont have the 9 to 5 schedule yet. So what do they do? Break up or brace up? |
With nanny care, ur baby gets undivided attention and falls ill less often. However, u may have to make alternative arrangements if nanny fails to show up for one reason or d other. Also, u may find it hard leaving ur baby all alone with a stranger. There have been so many baby/nanny stories. With d daycare, ur baby gets to interact with other kids as time goes on and this helps his overall development. However kids in daycare take ill more often. My advice: search for a daycare with fewer kids and more caregivers say ratio 3kids to 1 caregiver. Ensure the surrounding and sleep areas are clean. Such daycare centres are usually costlier but nothing is too much to spend on ur child's well-being. I enrolled my son in a home creche run by a retired teacher. There were only 3kids in her home. The fee was high but d service was good. My son is in pre-school now. I discovered a nice creche recently around akoka- morris st. It's called babybloom. If u live or work around dat area u can give it a try. |
A true Awoist?Just because he wears Awo's kind of cap. Mama don't be deceived. |
This bride is lucky. She got a good man. Ibrahim Chatta is very down to heart and real. I wish them a happy married life. |
Few Nigerian movies are impressive. I saw Ije today- a Nigerian movie shot in d US. I think it's suspense-filled and impressive. Thumbs up to Genevive n Omotola |

In my post, I admitted that there's so much partiality. This syndrome is everywhere and it's creeping fast into d private sector too. I condemn it and advocate for merit-based recruitment. Notwithstanding, I make bold to repeat that in my case God intervened even when merit was about to be discarded. I will never play down on d God-factor. To each his own. 1forall: Even if it's the best job in the country, are you saying that it's okay to recruit largely based on partiality, connections and bribery? And you mention God in the same breath? |
U can't describe FG as d worst employer until you've been offered an appointment. Those employed by d FG are in a better position to comment. I agree with u that there's so much partialty in the recruitment process and it only takes d grace of God to get an offer if u do not have godfathers. However, having worked in the private sector for some years, i can confidently say that d FG has favourable working conditns- salaries (though not necessarily mouthwatering) are paid on time, annual leave (though without pay) is granted, 4 months maternity leave wit full pay, trainings, pension, 4pm or 5pm closing time depending on d agency, access to loans from cooperatives etc Just don't give up. Keep trying. Never conclude u won't be employed by FG cos u don't have a godfather. God the father is all u need. highlandre: I think the worst employer for 2012 is the Federal Government. There has not been any merit-based recruitment exercise this year at all; recruitments into federal ministries, boards and agencies have been enmeshed by acts of partiality, man-know-man syndrome and serious level of bribery. |

U.I. can still remember words like 'sabbatica' used to describe those who have repeated classes in pharmacy or vet.medicine. Their mates refer to them as being on sabbatical during the period. |
