Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What You Should Be Doing If You’re Unemployed by ayandee: 7:20pm On Feb 12, 2013
Take the job. A friend of mine got a federal job while working as an attendant in a hotel in Abuja. She told me she was exceptional while working there- very polite and responsive to guest needs even though her salary was 25k. One of d guests linked her up after discovering she was a graduate
obichijiokeobi: A year after my youth service, I got a job as a waiter in an hotel in Abuja; am confessed whether to take up d job, because am nt doing anything for now. What do u advice?

Health › Re: Your Experience In The Hands Of Nigerian Nurses by ayandee: 4:03pm On Jan 19, 2013
Ah! Nigerian nurses are terrible except for very few good ones. I went to d general hospital cos i had a pain in my left ear sometime in 2011. The nurse who handled d preliminaries was rude to every one on d waiting line. It was so obvious that a senior nurse who noticed how i felt met me at d exit and apologised for d ill-treatment.

Family › Re: Unemployed Man Marrying An Unemployed Woman; Your Take? by ayandee: 10:20pm On Jan 08, 2013
GBAM! This is an experienced person talking here
Ngutor: I think you have to first define what is unemployed and distinguish between wedding and marriage. It is sad to see many adults wait for someone to hand them a 9 to 5 schedule for them to see themselves as emplopyed and successful. What happens if they both loose them jobs after the marriage? Know of a couple(former bankers) guy lost his job a week after the wedding, lady a month later. Two years on and they dont have the 9 to 5 schedule yet. So what do they do? Break up or brace up?
Some people comenting have never been married so they dont have an idea of what it is.Truth be told, they type of person you wanted to marry when you were twenty will change when you get to thirty, due to exsisting realities, changing priorities and clearer insight.
What should be important is the direction, effort, ability to have a means of existence.
Just my thought and in no way indisputable.
Family › Re: Nanny Or Day Care Which One Is Better by ayandee: 10:14pm On Jan 07, 2013
With nanny care, ur baby gets undivided attention and falls ill less often. However, u may have to make alternative arrangements if nanny fails to show up for one reason or d other. Also, u may find it hard leaving ur baby all alone with a stranger. There have been so many baby/nanny stories. With d daycare, ur baby gets to interact with other kids as time goes on and this helps his overall development. However kids in daycare take ill more often. My advice: search for a daycare with fewer kids and more caregivers say ratio 3kids to 1 caregiver. Ensure the surrounding and sleep areas are clean. Such daycare centres are usually costlier but nothing is too much to spend on ur child's well-being. I enrolled my son in a home creche run by a retired teacher. There were only 3kids in her home. The fee was high but d service was good. My son is in pre-school now. I discovered a nice creche recently around akoka- morris st. It's called babybloom. If u live or work around dat area u can give it a try.

Career › Re: Worst 2012 Employers, Share Your Experience by ayandee: 4:28pm On Dec 21, 2012
In my post, I admitted that there's so much partiality. This syndrome is everywhere and it's creeping fast into d private sector too. I condemn it and advocate for merit-based recruitment. Notwithstanding, I make bold to repeat that in my case God intervened even when merit was about to be discarded. I will never play down on d God-factor. To each his own.
1forall: Even if it's the best job in the country, are you saying that it's okay to recruit largely based on partiality, connections and bribery? And you mention God in the same breath?
That has to be the largest pile of sh.it I ever heard.
Career › Re: Worst 2012 Employers, Share Your Experience by ayandee: 3:30pm On Dec 21, 2012
U can't describe FG as d worst employer until you've been offered an appointment. Those employed by d FG are in a better position to comment. I agree with u that there's so much partialty in the recruitment process and it only takes d grace of God to get an offer if u do not have godfathers. However, having worked in the private sector for some years, i can confidently say that d FG has favourable working conditns- salaries (though not necessarily mouthwatering) are paid on time, annual leave (though without pay) is granted, 4 months maternity leave wit full pay, trainings, pension, 4pm or 5pm closing time depending on d agency, access to loans from cooperatives etc Just don't give up. Keep trying. Never conclude u won't be employed by FG cos u don't have a godfather. God the father is all u need.
highlandre: I think the worst employer for 2012 is the Federal Government. There has not been any merit-based recruitment exercise this year at all; recruitments into federal ministries, boards and agencies have been enmeshed by acts of partiality, man-know-man syndrome and serious level of bribery.

The FG as a direct employer of labour and supposed regulator of employment in the private sector through its policies has not only failed Nigerians, but allowed Indians, Lebanese and other useless foreigners and Nigerians to exploit my country men and women, by paying us peanuts, and subjecting us to worst kind of conditions of service. May God punish those among our leaders who made 2012 an ordinary, unprofitable year for Nigerians, amen!

I don't mind spending a fortune by sending them to d best vocational training school in the world.

Na wa o. Why are you drinking panadol for another man's headache? She wanted a baby and now she has it. Be happy for her or just waka pass.
lastpage: She wants to be "Mrs Melaye" by hook or crook! grin grin
It is obvious that some women have lost all sense of shame.

Will it not have been more prudent that she clears the air FIRST, on the baby's paternity before this senseless lavish naming?
Imagine, in this age of Technology, when that child grows up and starts reading about her "conception"?
How she was "unwanted, indiscriminately attached to different "father-to-be", rejected at conception, e.t.c! shocked angry angry

Even if DNA ended up proving that it was his (Melaye's) sperm that fertilized that egg, that resulted in this unwanted baby, the fact still remains that she was "UNDESIRABLE" (unwanted pregnancy!, forced on the Man) right from day 1.

Cant she just go for a "quiet abortion" when she realized she has missed her period ......... instead of trying to do "attachee" to BIG MAN
huh huh shocked

I guess it all boils down to who Melaye is.
(if na one omo-yiibo selling Puff-puff now or Pure water, she will not even tell him she is pregnant before flushing it!)

The man said he does not want a baby by you (afterall, you confessed to payment in form of Nice Cell phones and change of wardrobe! shocked shocked ) you say na lie, you must produce baby for him...wetin sef?

Ashawo no suppose dey get pregnant now?

Oya, carry the man go court for Abuja(l mean London joor) and "FORCE HIM" to pay Maintenance and Child support!
grin grin

Yeyee dey smell.

Politics › Re: Churches, Mosques Should Pay Tax – Falana by ayandee: 8:32am On Nov 27, 2012
Yes, religious bodies should pay taxes. Jesus and his disciple (Peter) paid taxes to Caesar. The churches are not involved in corporate social responsibility. The roads leading to some of the worship centres are really bad and they would not do as much as sandfill them in spite of several millions they generate all year round. The poor can't even afford their universities. It's time they rendered accounts for tax assessment.

An ex-military officer had a big 'fruit' (that was the name then) tree in his compound. We would climb to pluck the ripe fruit, eat the skin and crack the nut with stones to bring out the epa (seed). The man sighted us on d tree one day. He bellowed loudly 'eyin omo karanbani wo niyen?'(don't know what that means even now). We all fell from the tree and took our heels not minding d injuries sustained from d fall. I had bruises on my arms and knees but didn't tell anyone at home.
