pendusky: SMH for you!!! I am a lekki resident, i could remember when we protested in 2010 when we read in paper the amount to be paid on toll gate when it is completed. Am sure we made an impact there and the amount was reduced..am sure u live at epe vilage suburb, and yet ure braging toll fee is diet coke and gala money..whch road do you take to VI? Elegushi beach abi?

@op i think FASH is trying to decongests the traffic and the same time make money with it.
So you can't afford to pay N250 and you live in that axis. You're biting more than you can chew. The estate association might end up weeding you out with the annual dues.
I wonder why you feel lekki is a billionaire's paradise. As far as I know, Apapa gra, magodo and ikeja gra are in the same class as lekki. And what do you mean by only the rich, most are working lass people who have to pay various taxes this govt levies on them. Is the orile badagry road going to be tolled, why didn't the govt toll the roads in surulere, how many govt schools or hospitals do you see in lekki axis, is there any water facility there? All they do is to toll the roads saying it is a high brow area. Take a trip around lekki and u will see that it is home to all classes of people, rich, middle class and poor.

I can afford to pay the toll but it does not make it right cause not everybody living in that axis is buoyant.
"THERE IS A FREE ALTERNATIVE ROAD!!!!" I'm not even sure my English is correct but the message is. Take the one that suits your pocket.

ilugunboy: I've given up on trying to let this people understand the essence of the bridge on the other thread...those that liken them to a still-fan aren't wrong after all
I guess that's the reason Lagos is fast accelerating and leaving the rest of Nigeria behind. I'm glad i'm a part of it though. We still haven't mention the Badagry Expressway, the elevated metro line and the Ikorodu Expressway Expansion for starters. Big things are going on and they want it on a platter of Gold?? Nigerians can like Free things.

At least, after decades of stagnation and rot in Lagos, LASG has found a way out of this rut and suddenly, projects are springing up around......Even if they are tolled(For maintainance and to fund other projects), it's sure better that what we had waiting for Obj and the Federal Govt when nothing happened. When will people understand that the alternative Lagosians have to these tolled projects have never been reliable. Speaking of "Alternatives"......"THERE IS A FREE ALTERNATIVE ROUTE!!!". If LASG wanted to be greedy, they would block that off and force everyone to pass the tolled bridge.....Then we'll know what "Slavery" is.

As usual, no points.....Just insults. And he'll claim to be matured. Just copying and pasting what @Billante said, If you don't have a mind to generate thoughts, go read a book. Play your part or get lost. You're obviously pained and you need someone to lash out. Sorry, i feel for you.....You have "moodswings" at your age? I guess it must be as a result of excess female hormones in your body and if you feel you're too old, find somewhere and "DIE".

I don't work for LASG. I just thank God that paying N500 toll everyday isn't my problem....Funny enough, the problem i have is "Do i have change??" And if it adds to the IGR of Lagos State as they tell us....So be it. Because you don't pay tax doesn't mean there are people who don't. When you run your own Company, you'll find out that its unavoidable in Lagos.....And before i forget..."THERE IS A FREE ALTERNATE ROUTE!!!!".

There's no need to celebrate the Toll Booths but instead of people to work hard and smart so that N250 won't be a problem for them in their lives, they sit and complain about it....N250. I dislike petty minded people. If you drive a car and you can't afford N250, Take the N120 route or take a bus. How can you be driving around without N120 in your pocket, that's less than a Dollar....Plain irresponsible.

billante: Mumu u hav already paid for it!! That's if u are old enough or employed to be paying tax, cause I can see u are jobless or still in being spoon fed by ur parents

US govt can never use tax payers money to build a bridge and still toll it again! They will only allow a toll on a road if it was constructed on a concessionaire basis to recoup investment!
Now who sounds like the child out of you and I?? Already resulting to insults as if you grew up in an abusive home, very immature of you. I am self-employed and I'm a co-owner in a registered company. The tax paid is what makes Lagos the State with the highest IGR. Play your part or get lost.

teskyg: EKO -Ile and his cohourts in LASG Establishment can celebrate this fraud of double taxation cos they will just wave the Identity card and allowed free access.I pay my tax every month and I still have to pay another toll to pass this fraud route.
The tax system is also designed to de-populate Lagos State. Other states are more tax friendly.....you could try them.

djustice: See mumus paying tolls for a bridge built with their own money. Lagosians are the biggest mugus I know. Totally magalised.
Its better to pay a token toll(Bottled coke and Gala money) to use a bridge that's convenient than not pay a toll and get stuck on River Niger bridge....I mean, so you can't pay N250 to avoid the traffic on Niger Bridge??. At least the people paying aint complaining cuz they aint broke and if you can't afford it, there's a cheaper route and a free route. If you aint careful, they'll charge you to look at the bridge....looks good, don't it? You seem bitter about the bridge, are you truely that concerned?? Enter Politics naa if you are.
Politics › Re: Who Suffers If Nigeria Divides? by ba7man(m): 4:43pm On Jun 02, 2013
Gbawe: Illiterate dullard. How many Britons are running visible business in India and Pakistan yet how many shops are owned by Indians and Pakistanis in the UK? What does that then prove? That the Pakistanis and Indians be deemed "kings of business" because their corner shops are everywhere in the UK and the Britons should be condemned as worthless at business because they don't have the Street business presence in Mumbai that Indians have in London? What a clown.

When you get the fundamental argument behind that contextual example then you will appreciate how ridiculous, unintelligent and downright ignorant you sound. A m0r0n like you better not be what your ilk predicate Igbo "superiority" on. You cannot even think moderately well in comparison to others and you are talking of "ethnic superiority" as if it is something every member of your ethnic group is born with? Deluded Joker.
Can you see the type of person you've been arguing with all this while?? He doesn't even know what the purpose of setting up Unions are. That means he needs someone to sit him down and explain the rudiments of setting up organizations in order to pool together like minded people to acheive a greater goal. The type of business competition he's talking about is the one in which you chase, grab and harrass people all over, trying to drag them to your shop to buy spare-parts while holding a car fender and bumper over your shoulder at the same time.....now that's his definition of being hard working.

SmartTalk: Wow, I thought I was explicit on that post. Oh well, let me break it down so that you can understand. I was responding to someone posting pictures of Lagos before Nigeria. That means Lagos was what it was at that time because of the colonials. And even then, the colonials pooled resources from other parts of Nigeria to fund infrastructural development in Lagos. Now, we have independence, a huge part of what Lagos is today is thanks to the contribution of other parts of Nigeria, and yes that includes the Igbo. I hope you get it now.

And it seems you see the North as an example worth following. While the Igbo do participate in the Northern economy to the level that they are allowed, I would not use the North as any kind of yardstick. But if you want the SW to resemble the North, be my guest. Just start with your own state before you decimate Lagos. That would give us time to sell all our assets in Lagos and leave it for you. And I think it is the residents of Lagos, from whatever origin, that should be thankful for investments from entrepreneurs, not the other way round.
You sound reasonable. My post was directed at an individual that posted that dumb notion that "Igbos own Lagos and what not" but i'm glad you agree its a collective effort. I do not see the North worth emmulating, I find their habit of being so quick to kill barbaric......but it goes out to your tribes men that say they're dominating and trash about the very region that welcomed them and hosts them. You don't do that.....not when you live and do business in their midst. The unguarded utterances of a few can put even the large number of innocent at risk.
I was just following his line of reasoning. cheesy
No problem dear. Your name shows you're Igbo but frankly i have nothing against Igbos. But as with every tribe, there are two kinds. (1) The nice, de-tribalized ones, there are a lot that grew up in Lagos and i see them as Lagosians. (2) The lousy, dumb, boastful ones that utter statements that can put the whole tribe in trouble. I guess its hate stories told to them about the civil-war that has transcended generations.
Politics › Re: Who Suffers If Nigeria Divides? by ba7man(m): 9:12pm On Jun 01, 2013
SmartTalk: False little man. Whatever progress that came into Lagos was as a result of investments by the colonials. And guess where the money came from - money pooled from all over the federation. That includes money from coal in the East and the North. What ever you see in Lagos, neither you or your ancestors built it. It's the bitter truth, sorry you had to hear it from me.

And yes, Lagos does need to be depopulated, but I think that's your cue to leave. Unless you can reimburse my tax contribution to this state with interest, you have no right to tell me where to go. Interesting that we were told to stay during population census.
I thought the Igbos were responsible for making Lagos what it?? Oh, now its the colonials. You guys have a false impression of yourselves. Apart from Ladipo,Computer Village and Alaba market, your perceived dominance ends....Places Fashola is even planning to destroy and re-Construct. Just be thankful we're good hosts and move on with life, if Lagos was in the north and the Northerners read all you say on NL, just pack your bags and run cuz lives will definitely be lost.

Lagos would be no better than Ibadan with Igbo mass exit. Don't think Lagos can stand on its feet without its cosmopolitanism. This is the only advantage Lagos has. Go and read about similar cosmopolitan cities where mass emigration occurred and see what is left of them. Read about Lahore in Pakistan and what became of it after emigration of Hindus. You don't even need to go too far, find out about Port Harcourt - find out how set it was to overtake Lagos and what became of PH after they seized Igbo properties. Nothing but stagnation awaits Lagos or any other city that despises the most important contributors to economic growth.
Lagos has been before the Igbos mass emigrated to it and will be after you leave. Those businesses you leave behind will be taken over by people that recognize the opportunity of your absense......and frankly, Lagos needs to be de-populated, so feel free to leave.

Balkan: Let me teach you slowpoke a little bit of Lagos state history. Commodore Ndubisi Kanu, 1977-1978, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe 1978 -1979. All these are Igbo men that governed Lagos state. You seem to be ignorant of your surroundings. You are a finished tribe, deal with it. We are in Lagos the way other tribes are in Lagos. We have come to claim back our possession your people tried to elude us during the war. Their is nothing your envy can do for you. Lagos is an Annex of Igbo land, try to live with it. You cant stop a moving train. We are dominating and intimidating you in your so called state are you not ashamed? The hatred fow the Jews all over the middle east is because the can tun sand into gold. We are the Jews my brother deal with That

I have checked and found out that there has never been a Youruba Governor in Igbo land.
I hate chest beating. Which type of "domination" are you talking about?? Is it "Alaba Market Domination", Computer Village Domination, or Ladipo Market Domination?? Apart from those 3 areas, You don't dominate diddly squat and if you feel that's what the economy of Lagos State is dependant on, you are a village Eeediot. Or is it because the Yorubas don't kill you guys like the northerners do? that's why you're having mouth. Go talk about "Domination" outside Yoruba land and see if they won't slice your throat. We let you live and thrive amongst us and you translate it to "Dominance", How dumb.

WHy does he preach in church and also pour out his personal opinion on church matters. Aren't people also being influenced? This is a lame excuse if you ask me.

If not for the noisy ones, we probably wouldn't have been existing as a country.
The lives he has positively affected with his words far outweighs any criticism he'll make against the Country's situation. He has made more impact on lives in this Country than the activists that protest everywhere.

dandollaz: Laughing in china!!!100% of Nigeria economy is based on oil.Lagos and Abuja is built wit oil money.if Nigeria disintegrate today hummm.there will be serious crisis in west because fuel prize will be more than N200 and that will meltdown the economy in the west.the Igbo man will never close his shop one day infact they will exploit the west well well.south will be new York because the money ment for 160million people will be availabe for only 20million.the northern part will boost there agriculture to sustain them.the west will suffer more on the long run. Gbam
Do you know the whole western coastline has untapped oil?? Haven't you seen the thread of how developed lagos was before "your oil" was discovered?? It was far more developed in the 50's and 60's than your region is today. Igbos exploit the west?? If the west choose to be tribally biased, they'll drive the Igbos out of their territory and tidy up those haphazard markets all over. Its the welcoming nature of the west that will be its strongest point and that will in-turn help it become economically sucessful.
