All on paper. Funny how people fall for this scam. Lekki free trade zone has remained on paper many years after conception, The Badagry express way, a supposedly Federal project which Fashola grabbed thinking its child's play is now in ruins as he can't cope with the financial demands of the work. Portions have been cleared, excavated and finally abandoned and left in ruins making a hitherto journey of 45 minutes last about 5 hours now. He is now accusing the Federal govt. for refusing to guaranty the loan he is seeking to complete the project as if the Federal govt. sent him to do the road. The rail line is only in Fashola's fantasy world. The Eko Atlantic itself is still at the paper stage as no single structure has been erected on the site as I type now. The Lekki-Epe express way which was constructed by tax payer's money is being tolled. At least 90% of the projects Fashola has been commissioning are PPP projects funded with little or no govt. contribution. People need to see through this ACN scam.
I strongly disagree with you. You can't expect them to operate at the same speed when the projects they are initiating and problems they're encountering aren't on the same scale. Fashola has to deal with over population(x4) of what Akabio has to deal with, congested roads, building clusters, slums, illegal market encroachments and lawless individuals......meanwhile Akpabio just bulldozes virgin lands and starts work.....all on the same amount. Akpabio has far less challenges to worry about. And work is on-going in all those lagos projects you mentioned. You don't expect a city to rise out of the Ocean in around 5 years, do you?.....BTW, that Badagry Express road has always being in ruins till the Fashola administration decided to fix it. And you saying the elevated rail line proves you've not been to Lagos in a long time. The concrete footings are there for all to see and workers are always on site. |
Fashola should go for lecutes from this man on how not to toll public roads.
Fashola is spear-heading the Eko Atlantic city project, The Lekki free trade zone, the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Badagry Expressway complete with rail lines down the middle, the expansion of the Ikorodu Expressway, The Elevated rail line project etc. Akpabio is trying but he is still a learner beside Fashola. Fashola needs all the money he can get. You can't compare the scale of the projects they are initiating. Vision pass vision. |

dayokanu: 600m is what Falilat Ogunkoya or Chioma Ajunwa would run in 1 minuteAbeg, cool down for this bridge, would you prefer she swam it?? |
tarryT: Afam4eva the Ijaws hater. U deserve an e-slap.U serious?? So u took part in kidnappings and blowing up of pipelines?? Where u not aware that you guys were further destroying your environment?? Are u aware that your leaders have a hand in the reason your region is like that?? Why kidnap for money and not seek more intelligent ways of attracting attention to your region?? I don't belive a sensible person will engage in kidnapping for any reason...only crooked people will welcome the idea..... Now your kind have introduced that criminal act of Kidnapping into this Country, hope you're happy now......BTW, Kidnapping is an act of terror, so is blowing up oil installation resulting in widespread poluting of your air and water. Just keep your 2nd round in your region. |
Omexonomy: why do you feel sorry for the citizens ? Is it becos the bridge was toll free ? Too many idiot on nairaland.Stop repeating that statement on tolling, its being one-directional minded. There are different conditions that determine tolling. Look at the Ibeano Community....does it's locals look like they are financially bouyant enough to pay tolls, let alone own cars on the average??......... If the bridge led into Asokoro in Abuja, and its tolled, no problem. Why do you think the tolled bridge was located in Lekki Phase one?? |
Revolva: Oga Jonathan....n building bridges..we dey hungry for here oo ..na bridge we go chopCross the bridge go find food abi na Oga Jona go come feed you and your family for house?? |
akpomeme: Cost of doing business in Nigeria has always been high. DSTV in SA does not deal with power failure or generator to power up its bases in SA but in Nigeria they do. Our laws governing international businesses in Nigeria can add up to many overhead cost. It makes more sense for a company like dstv to go on monthly plan package for its subscribers in Nigeria in order to manage risk and be assured of its receivables.Ok....thanks for the clarification. |
Regardless of who we align with, we will always be treated the way we treat ourselves. You need to see the way the Chinese treat our local workers and how much they're paid to understand that they're not really as nice as you think. |
akpomeme: Haven't we been thoroughly used by the western countries you mentioned since colonisation? What have they done for us? Shell, Chevron etc come in here and mess our environment up and take resources from here to their countries!!!. Who pays attention to CSR in Nigeria? The environment in the Niger-Delta is an eye sour!!! All these years of exploitation and nothing has changed. Who need a hand shake with 3k pounds visa country or resentful President of a supposed free country. China at least has put a win win capitalist proposal on the table which the government do not have qualms with. They were able to exploit us with our permission. Our leaders gave them the right to. For every foreign Company that exploits this Country, someone is getting paid and others are paid to look the other way. Until we sort this out within ourselves, the same thing will continue to happen regardless who we align with. Eg. DSTV operates on the "Pay as you go" plan in S.A but its the opposite in Nigeria. It helps them rip-off Nigerians and trust me, there are certain Nigerians collecting their cut up there for making it possible.....Let me add this, during the Slave trade era, it was actually leaders that sold slaves to the whites. They went on slave raids to exchange them for guns and other foreign goods etc. I'm yoruba but even those glorious Wars fought degenerated into Slave raids. |
Rossikk: It is not a personality thing, so GEJ doesn't really come in to it. It is a Nigeria thing. Nigeria represents genuine black power outside Obama's sphere of control and influence, and that makes Obama resentful. Oh, and countries like China, Brazil, India, et al ARE falling over each other to invest in Nigeria, so you should keep up with the news. With the immense potential we weild as a nation, even the U.S.A, UK, Germany and the likes should also be falling over themselves to get a piece of the Nigerian handshake......... With those Countries you mentioned, i wouldn't be too sure if its "Investment" or "Exploitation" that's the underlying motive for extending the hand of friendship to us......... Ratan Tata, an Indian industrialist bought the Jaguar/Land Rover automobile company and used his influence over it to develop their local automobile industry. Chinese Companies do the same to pool information and technical skills into their home industries. We have a lot of individuals that can afford to do the same here but aren't. As long as we keep expecting hand-outs, Nations like the U.S.A that are supposed to respect us will keep acting funny towards us. |
Lions will never lose sleep over the opinions and actions of sheep. Do the right things and Countries will fall over themselves to associate with you. @Rossik. Who can challenge Obama's intellect and political might in Africa?? G.E.J?? |
Pls, stop comparing Fashola to Akpabio. Its like giving a contractor N60million to maintain a 30 room mansion and another contractor the same amount to maintain a 3 bedroom bungalow. Apart from those beautiful roads that lead to nowhere and service nothing (From all the pics posted, its Tricycles, bicycles and people walking that are largely using it), nothing is happening in Akwa-Ibom, where is the Central Business district in Uyo?? Why is it only pictures of beautiful roads flanked by irrelevant rural looking buildings that are always provided?? Akpabio is working but there's more to development than just roads. |
All this arguements doesn't change the fact that Lagos is over-congested, the congestion is putting a strain on its infrastructure and service delivery, the migration urgently needs to be stopped and people should stay back and develop their regions. We know a large population is an advantaage to the economy of a location but this is getting too much. Its now turning to a disadvantage. |
Someone should put @Eko ile to shame and post pictures to discredit him.....at least a link naa. Don't let him run amok on NL. |
While i commend Gov Akpabio for his infrastructural initiative by constructing roads but i noticed the roads are mostly empty or being plyed by tricycles and bicycles in rural areas. What should come first?? Man-power development, Infrastructural development or attraction of industries in the state?? I belive he needs to tackle the remaining 2 with the same verve he's tackled road construction. |
awodman: You would have done well if you stopped at asking who has eaten cassava bread...going ahead to say that cassava bread or any other initiative about utilizing cassava is not responsible for this smacks of high ignorance..a little reading through the article would ave saved u dis follyThe export of dried cassava chips as you pointed out i belive is the main reason there's what we can call a "boom" in Cassava. It was started under OBJ and its commendable that GEJ encouraged it further. But i still don't agree on the Cassava bread having such impact as you and @Sincere Nigerian are tryin to potray. Prices of bread simply went higher with the wheat tarrif increase and people still bought along. |
With all the big grammar exchanged by some posters on this thread, I still stand on the fact that Cassava Bread is NOT responsible for the Cassava boom. Who eats Cassava bread?? Why speak as if it has resulted in a fad that's taking over the country when i'm sure 95 percent of Nigerians haven't seen it, let alone eat it. OBJ encouraged people to grow it for export, they did and they are now reaping its benefits. GEJ had nothing to do with it. |
This has nothing to do with Cassava bread. Obj encouraged exporting Cassava which a lot of people invested in. I remembered when some people complained bout its high price nd Obj replied them "To start planting it too to enjoy its price increase". Cassava bread was introduced to reduce our dependence on Flour importation and i belive it hasn't caught up yet. Who can tell me he's eaten or even seen Cassava bread in the market?? |
Islam is a religion that remains rigid and has fought change over the centuries. They still keep beards and dress in a particular way that's similar to how they did a long time ago.........The way Islam views women and Children encourages perversion too. Its ok to have multiple sex partners through marriage and marry kids. Christians do too but will never do it using Christianity as an excuse....they know within their hearts that its a sin.......Violence is also a problem with Islam. The Religion justifies certain acts of Violence whereas Christ preached "When your cheek is slapped, turn the other" and "he without sin cast the first stone". Christians can also be violent but will never use the teachings of Christ as an excuse to.......Islam is easy to be misunderstood by fhools. |
SLIDE waxie: Dude, the action of tolling bridges has been alive in this world for long. And i will be glad to wet ur dry brain with some erudition as regard the reasons:I like the way you broke down the reason backing the idea of tolling. You can't see a tolled road by the LASG on the mainland because that's where majority of the middle/low income earners stay. I now use people's views on tolling to rate their intelligence. The only crime would now be for the LASG not to execute any project with the money collected from tolling. |
Mieye007: Yeah, no pictures for your hate-filled eyes to see. If want to see things for yourself, take a trip to yenagoa and fill you hypermyopic eyes with all the images and pictures you need. Na by force to show you picture? If you're truely interested, then you should emulate Labaran Maku who visited 36 states to see first hand whats going on. Dey there dey look for pictures.Conclusion......."You have nothing to offer". Sad. Quick to say one has hate filled eyes.....I'd say its a guilty concience you have that made you think that. |
Using Don-Jazzy to advertize the "World"s Most Expensive Champagne" seems like a very bad marketing strategy. |
That's not Wiz-Kid's garage. It belongs to a man on the Island that has over 15 exotic cars, all White. Rolls, Bentleys, G-Wagon, Maserati, Lambo Aventador Etc. Confirm your stories before posting or else someone will come along and make a fool of you. |
Mieye007: Words of the Wise.....God bless you my brother!Despite the 1000 000 000 likes, still not 1 picture. |
I would seriously love to hear Tinubu's answer. |
