TippyTop: Am tired of reading the statement "what did Jonathan do for the Niger Delta" Jonathan was not elected the president of Niger Delta, on the other hand Buhari seems to think he was elected president of the Fulanis, lets see where it leads Nigeria. That's not the issue. Forget about what people are saying about Jonathan or Buhari. How does it affect your life? Think instead about yourself and your country. If Buhari does not perform he will be voted out sooner or later. Don't waste your time thinking about him. |

I asked you a simple question since you're fixated with Jonathan. Tell me what Obasanjo did for Ogun state having ruled Nigeria for 11yrs. Obasanjo was a failure. Jonathan was also a failure. In fact Obasanjo's biggest failure was forcing Yar'Adua and Jonathan on to Nigerians. It is foolish to support either of them. |

attackgat: Even if this were true, it still comes down to control of the resources of their land which touches on the topic of sovereignty. Lest we forget, it is not the job of the southern minorties or any body for that matter to be providing billions of dollars from the Oil, Gas or otherwise to the Nigerian Government to be running Nigeria. If they are doing this, it is from the goodness of their heart and not because they owe anybody anything. It was their land, Oil and Gas long before Lugard came to create Nigeria. If you want to talk about sovereignty then you must realize that constitutionally the only sovereign entity in Nigeria is the government. There is no sovereignty of individuals or communities in Nigerian law. Also according to all relevant domestic and international laws, all natural resources in Nigeria belong to the government. The people may own the land, but the government has the absolute right to exploit the natural resources. That is the way it has been since colonial times. Now if you want to make the argument that such an arrangement is unfair, I may agree with you. But there is only one way to effectively bring about institutional change and it is not through violent confrontation. It is through peaceful civil activism. Mandela started out blowing up infrastructure in South Africa and he turned the world against himself and the ANC. When that did not work, he adopted the non-violent methods of Dr. Martin Luther King and the whole world fought on his side. Dr. King himself got his ideas from Gandhi who singlehandedly forced the mighty British off his ancestral lands without firing a single shot. The Niger Delta is part of the Nigerian system of governance for better or worse. You have elected governors, representatives and senators. The process of amending the constitution to give 100% resource control to host communities should start from them. Personally, I'm in full support of resource control. However, certain changes must take place within the host communities themselves for it to work. Otherwise 100% control will only go to waste the same way that 13% derivation has mostly gone to waste. Communities in the Niger Delta have been known to refuse to allow developmental projects to take off, preferring that the cash budgeted for such projects be handed over to them instead. That is not the way to develop a people or country. The issue of doing anything for Nigeria out of the goodness of their hearts does not arise. Again, Nigeria is the only sovereign entity within her current borders recognized by all international powers and treaties. At least for now. If there is a genuine desire or need to change that then it should be done peacefully. War is totally unnecessary in this scenario. At the end of the day, it is always a prelude for peaceful negotiations. Recall the situation of things between Sudan and South Sudan. All the major natural resources were in South Sudan, they were at war for several decades and eventually negotiated a peaceful separation in 2011. Today they are worse off economically than when they were part of the old Sudan. Today, many of the citizens of the new country now wish they had never seceded. |

Pavarottii: well U av a point, my angle would av been He recieved 813million last month and said his waybill is 2.4billion aside statrutory expenditures and loans his paying back and state maintainance and u don't expect him to pay some people and leave some others. My own is that he should pay 50% to all public servant starting from himself. Well you've made some good points especially regarding cutting all pay across the board. The problem with our leaders in Nigeria is that they lack sincerity. Thousands of workers are suffering but the governor and his aides are getting fully paid. Billions of naira of security vote money is still being unaccounted for every month. In a more developed society, the governor would have owned up to the truth long before now. He would have publicly admitted the financial situation of the state and pleaded for understanding. You can put all the non-essential state workers on furlough. Tell them to go home for the meantime and you will recall them when there is money to pay them. The essential workers you can ask them to work half days for half pay or put them on rotation. These are all ideas that might have worked if the governor had true sincerity. |

tete7000: And you are Garba Shehu or Femi Adesina, the presidential spokespersons who will tell us what the pressmen wrote in their media outfit is true or not? What you were being corrected for is that you jumped your brief (o be) in disproving what you are not in a position to disprove. If a media outfit gives a news, you hold it tentatively true until those who have the privilege to refute it come out and do so. You don't jumped and condemned the news like you did abinitio. So you are the guilty party here, that advice you gave when you knew you had it, you shouldnt have done what you initially did. So be more introspective, be sure you consult your inner self well next time before you condemn what you are not in a position to condemn. You sound very incoherent. |

tete7000: Thank God you have taken time to read it. That simply means the man can have it and still function to some extent but the disease can become serious and debilitating. it is also progressive and can lead to permanent ear loss. They said most tomes it affects only one ear. Meaning? It can be true that the president has it and still attend to some visitors as reported. So stop doubting. Always seek further information before refuting what you are told, it will do you some good in life. Once again you fail to take your own advice. It's all a rumour. There is no evidence that PMB has Meniere's disease. That is the main point. Not whether he can attend to some visitors or do one thing or the other. Until something is confirmed you should learn to keep your opinion to yourself. It will do you some good in life. |

tete7000: Why not do yourself some good to read about the disease online? That's what google is there for. That might clear your doubt as so whether the news could be true or not. It could allow you know whether it is possible for the president to do mild work with his condition or not. Two media sources have reported the man has ear infection. Three times a man known for travelling has abruptly cancelled his scheduled visits, don't you think that there might therefore be some truth in in the report? Think! Why don't you take your own advice? Read up on the disease it's not a big deal at all. It's self remitting and the symptoms come and go. Over time it goes away and it definitely doesn't kill. The symptoms are dizziness, reduced hearing and ringing noises. Apart from those occasional symptoms which can be very mild in many cases the person has no problems. It rarely ever affects working ability or traveling. |

Evil that men do live with them and even after them years later....
Blood of the innocent Biafran's killed will aways cry until Buhari hears their cry of freedom and set them free. The problem some Igbos have with Buhari, is it because he's Fulani or because he fought in the civil war or both? Obasanjo that was Buhari's commander why did all the south eastern states support him in 1999 and 2003? |

Bombing these infrastructures is criminality though. Right now investors prefer Iraq and Libya to Nigeria. They're leaving and they might not come back. If PDP has any issue, it is an in-house disagreement which isn't any good reason for INEC to threaten the already dying democracy. Pls I beg you read the article first before making comments. It's more than an in house disagreement. PDP must decide who their national executive is before they can conduct primaries. Two chairmen of PDP cannot conduct two separate primaries in Edo state.
