NaWetinDey:This is a democracy and your religious analogy is totally misplaced. The people vote the govt into power and the govt is responsible to the people. We the people must hold our government at every level accountable. We must also hold ourselves accountable as a community. The first step is to point out wrongdoing wherever you see it. That was what I did with my initial post. I was holding the OP accountable for his own personal actions as an individual and you should too. |
iaamxavier:Because you and your friend are nobodies. |
NaWetinDey:What are you talking about? And how does your comment relate to my post? Are you saying we cannot hold the govt responsible for their actions and also hold citizens responsible for their actions at the same time? Spreading false information through media has led to violence, civil war and genocide in other African countries. Are you suggesting that we should allow people to continue spreading lies and misinforming the public? Let us fight lies wherever they may occur, whether from the govt or from dishonest posters on Nairaland. |
This is why the social media bill is desperately needed, so that people like the OP can be arrested and jailed for 10 years minimum. |
bonechamberlain:Didn't you read the article? NNPC has not made any money at all in any month for the past 15 years. They only report losses, in billions per month. This is the first profit they have made in 15 years. |
TrueSenator:The only debate that really matters is whether Dasuki is innocent or guilty. And only a court of competent jurisdiction can determine that. Revenge or not is irrelevant. |
I thought Ghana was an oil producing country itself now. |
Askmewhy:They want justice. Under Jonathan they got away with their crimes. Now Lady Nemesis has returned for them. |
FuckTheMods:You are obviously not as smart as you think you are. Obey them? Did they give the sharks verbal commands? Or are they creating a distraction to enable human divers to escape. There are several reported accounts of dolphins coming to the rescue of humans being attacked by sharks. Google it. |
Aisha96:You are not a Muslim. You're a liar and you're not fooling anyone. |
obaino860:Yes Ambode is my governor. My mother's family is old Lagos and I have lived here all my life. |
McJane:How many governors in Nigeria are doing their job? Who is your governor sef? |
PDP already had their chance and failed. Personally I think only KOWA can solve Nigeria's economic problems. |
rose54321:Nigeria was united because the north and southwest did not react to Jonathan the way easterners are reacting to Buhari now. Jonathan marginalized the west and ignored our complaints but you never heard of any threats to split the country back then because we are patriots. |
Mopolchi:You are the problem of Nigeria. You and your useless demented mentality. Nigeria must develop whether you like it or not. |
maafen:Yet several PDP governors are still not paying anything. |
macherie1:Kachikwu is still the minister for goodness sakes. How can he be reporting to himself? Also the new GMD will report to him in his double capacity both as Chairman and minister. You wailers are irredeemable. |
JonSnow:Unconscionable, incorrigible wailer. You people have nothing but insults. You will lose even bigger in 2019. |
mej67:Which part of my comment is a lie? Be specific. |
The campaign is long over. Buhari won. Wailers wailed and continue to wail. No need for Sai Buhari again. |
Sack or promotion? From GMD to Chairman of the board. |
pippimp:Why are otherwise quasi-intelligent people so immune to facts like this? Sadly it isn't just a Nigerian phenomenon. Read it and weep my friend. Facts at your disposal. http://www.itnewsafrica.com/2016/06/nigeria-takes-lead-with-online-shopping-via-mobile-devices/ |
Leebeedo:That is the same excuse the Nazis used when they were put on trial for their crimes after World War 2. "I was merely following orders. My boss gave me the instructions. My superiors told me to do it, ask them." That is no excuse my friend. Many were sentenced to life in prison or even hanged because following someone else's instructions is not an excuse for committing a crime. God gave all of us a brain to think for ourselves and a conscience to know right from wrong. Regarding GEJ, it was widely reported during the last elections that the two major presidential candidates had struck a deal moderated by the US under John Kerry's influence and local interest groups led by Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar. They both promised that whoever lost would be given total immunity from prosecution. It was in the news at the time. Also PMB was recently quoted to have said that he would never forget the kind gesture of GEJ in conceding defeat so quickly and graciously. I think it is safe to say that GEJ will never be arrested under Buhari. |
ehissi:My guy it's not even an issue of being objective. Pls what does the law say? Under every legal system in this world and in every country on earth if somebody gives you stolen money or stolen goods or goods bought with the proceeds of stolen money you are equally liable as the original thief. The best you can hope for is to be allowed to refund the money if indeed truly you did not know. But realize that anybody can knowingly receive stolen funds and later claim that they didn't know so it's your words against the prosecution. And most times the judicial process will tend to side with the prosecution under those circumstances. I personally know a friend of mine who unknown to him bought a car that was stolen. When the police finally traced the car to him he had to forfeit the vehicle to the original owner and the money he used to buy it was never refunded. If my friend had refused to return the stolen car he would have been charged to court for theft. That is the issue Metuh is facing now. |
pippimp:Ignoramus. Nigeria is number three in the world in MOBILE shopping and payments. Most western countries browse through laptops and PCs. China is number one, India is number two and Nigeria is number three in mobile phone shopping. USA and other western countries don't even register on cell phone browsing. |
OP, are you seriously saying you don't know it is a criminal offense to use public funds for party activities? The issue here is not whether GEJ gave Metuh the #400 million for an assignment. The issue is where did the money come from? EFCC has traced that money to the office of the NSA from funds budgeted to buy arms to fight Boko Haram. Spending govt money on PDP campaign activities is a crime. And don't tell me APC also did it cos two wrongs do not make a right. |
buksaylor001:Computer village is owned by the government of Lagos state and not IPOB. |
Bitterleafsoup:You cannot tell me Buhari is bad but Jonathan is good. That's an insult to my intelligence and to the intelligence of anyone who has been awake for the last 6 or 7 years. We know what Jonathan did and failed to do. Over a billion naira was spent on a conference and the report was hidden. Only to be released when the elections came around with the promise of implementing it. Any one who says Jonathan was better for the restructuring of Nigeria is being economical with the truth. That's my point and anything else is a distraction. |
Bitterleafsoup:Are we still talking about restructuring Nigeria or has the topic now been changed to trains? And what's my own with Amaechi? I don't think I've ever mentioned him in any of my posts on this forum. You're the one who seems to be obsessed with your Amaechi. Your own eye no fit clear lai lai. There's no point trading comments with biased elements like you. |
SavageGarden:My brother this is the question I've been asking myself these days. Why are many Nigerians so crass, materialistic and warped in their thinking? Truly decent Nigerians are more scarce than hens' teeth these days, and the situation is going downhill very fast. |
Pyno30:So who is the best in general ? |
OjukwuWarBird:Jonathan had his chance to restructure but he totally failed to do so. Five and a half years is more than enough to set the ball rolling on restructuring Nigeria but nothing was done. Please don't try to rewrite history now. It won't work. |
