very little in the scheme of things? tell that to indomie when they send 35 40feet containers to central African sub region a month...it gives them latitude to expand and developpe new products. why dont you appreciate the small things, and bigger things will happen in the future. understand that increased level and expansion for indomie meas more employment for naija persons.
I think you must have missed the entire point of this thread. The scheme of things I was talking about is in reference to the valuation of the naira. Of course it's a great thing for Nigeria's economy if indomie manufacturers its products here and exports to other African countries. My point is that the level of trade we are talking about has no significant impact on the demand for the naira as opposed to the dollar on the international foreign exchange markets.
The balance of trade of the Nigerian economy has to shift in a massive and truly global way to justify a purposeful devaluation of our currency. What we are experiencing at the moment is the result of economic chaos and lack of planning. Nothing good can ever come out of it.

shachris:
my brother, you wont understand. i was looking forward to this debate. i even bought fuel and kept my charged inverter battery in case NEPA strikes. I really wanted to see buhari on this debate, but he has failed me and i believe countless nigerians too.
You have not been paying attention then. Buhari already made it clear that he won't participate in this debate several months ago.
PoliticsRe: Why Is Buhari Absent From The Debate? by babadee1(m): 5:29pm On Mar 22, 2015
shachris:
I am a die hard APC supporter but what i do not understand is why buhari is dodging debates?

I want to categorically say it here that if buhari does not participate in any debate before the elections, i will not vote for him.
The people organizing and moderating this debate are the very same people who produced and broadcast misleading hit pieces against him in the name of documentaries. They are experts at manufacturing propaganda and they work for GEJ.

what is this you are saying? 95% of instant noodles eaten in cameroon from naija, 100% in chad, 100% in equatorial guine, 100 in central africa republic, 5% in south africa and 02% in pekham, in london.
70% of fuel used in northern cameroun is for nigeria.
bobo and dudu drinks have 80% market share of such driks in cameroon.
multa guiness nigeria with nafdac number has 99% market share of canned malta guiness in cameroon.
made in nigeria beauty products have a 45% market share in cameroon.

many more i can talk about, but dont have the time
You must be joking if you think all those things you mentioned amount to any meaningful exports. All Nigerian trading within West Africa is to satellite economies. It's still more or less part of the Nigerian economy. Meaningful exports will amount to billions of dollars, real foreign exchange earners. All those African countries probably pay in naira or even in their own local currency which amounts to very little in the scheme of things.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Should Deny It, If He's Not Getting Funds From ISIS, Al Queda - FFK by babadee1(m): 4:02pm On Mar 21, 2015
They are stepping up their attacks against GMB now that the election is one week away. Only a losing party will descend to this abysmal level of mudslinging and character assassination. They think Nigerians do not see through their lies and propaganda but we do.
Buhari does not have to reply to any of FFK's false accusations. We the people will reply them ourselves through our votes next Saturday. It is time to safeguard our future from incompetence and to prove to selfish politicians that power truly belongs to the people.
PoliticsRe: Mrs Buhari Didn't Address 'edo Prostitute' In A Ridiculous Way (punch) by babadee1(m): 12:54am On Mar 21, 2015
PDP propagandists have twisted the words of our incoming first lady to suit their own diabolical purposes, but that won't stop Nigerians from turning out in massive numbers to vote out their principal next weekend.

Army headquarters should warn the rank and file to stop degrading the profession with these useless acts.
You think a second lieutenant can be acting as an escort for a civilian's wife without authorization from army headquarters? The Nigerian Army is no longer a professional organization.

I'm progressing very well thanks for your concern. But that thing in the pictures is not progress. Nigerians are already building world standard cars in our country. We don't need to be celebrating mediocrity any longer.

PoliticsRe: The Falling Naira Is A Blessing by babadee1(m): 3:40pm On Mar 20, 2015
KevinBrown:
You are right about our low level of production. But one thing you are failing to realize is that the low level of production is not due to lack of capacity or technical know how. It's just plain economics. It's because it's cheaper (on the short run) to import such goods than produce it locally. But what happens when those imported goods become very, very expensive due to a weak currency?
Then we will have to start looking for local substitutes. And you will start seeing industries sprouting up, which will in turn create more jobs.
See pictures of Nigerian made vehicles... They need local patronage to survive
Don't be silly. The entire Nigerian economy is import dependent. At the current rate, local production will never rise to meet demand not even in 100 years. Those vehicles you showed in the picture still rely on foreign partners for their production, the raw materials are internationally sourced. Countries that artificially devalue their currency do so because they have a massive manufacturing base and access to a huge international market.
China needs a weak currency to make it easier for America and other countries to buy their products. The only way a devalued naira can be good for Nigeria is if we have very strong exports which we don't. No country is patronizing made in Nigeria goods at any level that can sustain this current devaluation. Even our oil no longer has a stable international market and sustainable demand. If this trend continues, especially with the treasury being emptied and our foreign reserves being depleted, the result will be massive inflation and economic hardship. Just wait and see.

Naira falling to 263 to a dollar isn't actually as bad as we all make it seem. It could serve as a major catalyst in driving morr foreign direct investment into the country as well as also increasing the country's revenue since we are gonna be paid in dollars for exporting oil.

Yes they should leave Nigeria alone so that our leaders can continue to finish off the country. If a full blown civil war ever happens again in Nigeria you will be among those people begging for America to intervene.

She has achieved nothing in her life except to marry. Her husband was personally selected by Obasanjo and imposed on Nigerians, that is not an achievement in any sense of the word. Nigerians were terribly cheated of good leadership by Obasanjo when he forced Yar'Adua and Jonathan on all of us.

All the others can't vote because of different reasons. If you listened to Buhari's speech in PHC on Thursday, you will never vote for him except you are brain dead like him.
His blunders were unforgiveable.
Which blunders can be worse than "stealing is not corruption" and "how much did Nwobodo stole? money not up to the price of a Peugeot." Only somebody who doesn't give a damn about the future of Nigeria can vote for Goodluck Jonathan in this elections.

Just an RIP is difficult for you to say but you can take time to get partisan where it is utterly uncalled for. undecided
RIP to the dead gallant heroes. But everyone knows that Jonathan has already politicized the Boko Haram situation, otherwise why was there no coordinated effort to confront the insurgents until a few weeks to the elections?
