Bollinger:The reason Nigeria still remains the same is because people like you have already given up on your country. Nigeria has immense resources and a great deal of potential, especially in terms of human capital. In one generation this country is going to be transformed into a true economic power house. Nigeria is the number one destination for foreign direct investment on the African continent and has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Nigerians are extremely smart and innovative. They are the most highly educated and skilled immigrant group in the United States. The only problem Nigeria has is poor leadership and a lack of planning, look for that to change in the coming years. |
Bollinger:Your words do not stand up to scrutiny. Nigerians are not more dumb or less politically savvy than people from any other nation in the world. If you are a Nigerian then the shame is yours alone. The fact that you would even make such sweeping statements about your country without any concrete or objective basis already reveals the limitations of your own personal intellect and low self esteem. The problem is yours my friend. |
Bollinger:Proven statistically by who? Where was the research done and in which journal was it published? Do you think politicians don't make ridiculous promises in other countries of the world? Judging by your list you are the dumb type who gives Nigeria a bad name. |
Nonsense. At the end of the day Buhari will be judged by the same standards that Jonathan was judged by, unrealistic promises or not. If he delivers in the areas where Jonathan did not then he'll be okay, if he performs as cluelessly then he will be voted out as well. Finish. |
Mogidi:The election is over, AIT have done their worst and they have failed. Nothing they can do at this point matters again. |
Mogidi:The previous holder of the position was sacked by GEJ to make way for this new appointment. That's the same way Buhari will sack this Sanusi Lamido person to make way for another person. |
dadaic:PwC has no hand in releasing this report. Jonathan hired them to do an audit of NNPC, they finished their work and submitted the report to Jonathan before the election. It was Jonathan who released an incomplete version saying only $1.48 billion was missing and unaccounted for. Buhari threatened to release the full report and to do a proper probe after May 29th, that was why Jonathan hastily released the full report yesterday trying to deceive people into thinking that his hands are clean. |
Haba! Did Boko Haram rescue the girls from themselves or what na? |
adconline:Obama has never willingly gone on Bill O'Reilly's show. The two times he had interviews with him was because Fox News was nominated by the White House press corps to get the presidential interview during a major sporting event. Also Fox News has complained several times that the Obama administration has been denying them access, including refusing to call on their reporters during press conferences. Denying access to a news outfit that you believe will not give you fair coverage is perfectly legal for a government to do. By the way Buhari has not yet been sworn in so he is still a private citizen with the right to determine the boundaries of his own privacy. AIT is still free to report whatever they want, they have not been banned. But the ability to follow Buhari to functions and to ask him questions face to face is not a right but a privilege that needs to be earned. Based on their ridiculously biased reporting during the elections, AIT has not earned that privilege. |
dearpreye:How many of his campaign promises did Jonathan keep? Where is the second Niger bridge? Where is steady power supply? You people gave Jonathan a pass on his failed campaign promises after four years but you won't even give Buhari the benefit of the doubt before he is sworn in. It is obvious your hypocrisy stinks to high heavens. |
Nothing good came out of that conference. The 11 billon naira spent on it was a complete waste. No govt should have to gather people together and pay them obscene amounts of money to give recommendations that should be common sense solutions. Basildvalour: |
Bayswater:Did you read the story? It said he appealed to the governors to review and change the laws. Nowhere did it suggest that Buhari wants to singlehandedly repeal any pension laws. Like Festus Keyamo said in the story, changing the laws will require a moral suasion campaign as it cannot be done by fiat. |
Chiefpriest1:Itsekiri people are part of the extended Yoruba family. |
Bevista:Based on the Nigerian constitution you can't stop a person from joining your party if they want to. Membership must be open to any and everyone who wants to join. |
Johnpaul2k2:The most violent state by far in this election cycle has been Rivers state. |
This Fani-Kayode guy has still not learnt his lesson. I'm almost starting to feel sorry for him. Almost. |
PenSniper:You must be joking. This is crazy talk o. Bombing Lagos government structures because you hate Igbos, that is just ridiculous. |
I'm also a Yoruba and I was disgusted by Oba Akiolu's statement. But the truth is that these traditional rulers are for the most part completely irrelevant politically. For the most part, even a LG chairman has more political power than most of these Obas. There is no need to attach any more relevance to the Oba's statement than it deserves. He does not speak for Lagos state and he most definitely does not speak for Yorubas at large. The Oba is simply speaking for himself and for his own personal interests, nothing more. He is entitled to hold his own personal opinion no matter how foolish and he has no power to do anything to anybody. |
Billyonaire:The Niger Delta is the poorest area in Nigeria. This is in spite of the high allocations those states get every month as well has having their son at the center of power at the federal level for 8 years. |
I don't believe this story. The Oba of Lagos couldn't have stooped so low as to say that. This was supposedly a closed door meeting for which the writer of the story does not claim to have been present. This is another case of PDP propaganda until proven otherwise. |
abduljabbar4:But who picked those people? Whether the ones in Aso Rock or the ones in the military. Was it not Jonathan? |
Dick Morris is a discredited liar, no serious person in America pays him any attention anymore ever since he falsely predicted a massive win for Mitt Romney over Obama in 2012. Please ignore his diabolical rants. |
You are right. Jonathan is not a hero. I almost got carried away by his supposed noble gesture in the euphoria of the moment but I realize now that he did what he felt he had to do to save his own skin. |
Rochas did not say anything about greed in his statement, it was the OP who for reasons best known to him chose to use the word greed in his topic headline. Owelle Rochas was simply making the case that Nd'igbo should not have put all their eggs in one PDP basket, that's all. |
koife:There is no way to determine that these pictures are actually from the just concluded election. If indeed you are sure that they are authentic, you should forward them to the PDP HQs. It should be good evidence in their tribunal case challenging the results. |
manck2:Nonsense. Musiwa you better go and find something better to do with the copious amount of free time you seem to always have on your hands. |
nigerdeltaa:No we can't survive without the Igbo. There can be no Nigeria without the Igbo. Every tribe has it's role to play in making this country great again. Anyone still insisting on secession should be careful what they wish for. Just look at the example of South Sudan. |
chuose:But the middle belt also voted for Buhari na. |
APC will retain the governorship of Lagos for one reason only, the Fashola factor. In the points you raised in your post you did not consider the very high popularity that the current governor enjoys among most Lagosians. Truly, Ambode is no Fashola but then again neither is Agbaje. |
GhostProtocol:He's a politician, I don't expect him to be able to fulfill every single one of his promises. The realities between being a candidate and an office holder are vastly different. That being said, I believe we should hold him and his running mate accountable for their campaign promises especially regarding the most important issues of which I don't think this is one. |
Shameless people. Buhari really has a lot of house cleaning to do once he resumes duty as president. |
