The economy was already on a downward spiral when buhari got there so the loss of naira value was less to do with his reforms and more to do with not enough dollars to defend the naira.

Banks do have dollar now because reports have it that CBN sold to them a couple of days ago at ₦1,490/usd.

I'll pass at that price.The naira is severely undervalued..We are now at the point where one pound sterling is 1900naira. One pound does not even get you a portion of chips in London but gets you rice,beans, plantain and two bottles of cold beer in Nigeria.The purchasing power of both currencies used to be comparable when naira was 500 to the pound.
Some people will be ecstatic now that things has gone south for the nigerian economy but I've now realized that they are really youngsters who are being fed and their school fees paid. My friend had his son's fees increased from one million five to two million three at Babcock and he is not happy about it and a cashew nut exporter is now selling four containers for the same price he was selling three before. I know that the government would have an endgame but it seems far away.

The whole thing looks like a government sponsored scheme to take the citizens mind off the hunger ravaging the country.

SW people are not too much into tribalism and religion.Most families have christians and Muslims. They vote mainly on the candidates antecedents and trustworthiness.
I remember one year I asked my mother and her friends to vote for Ribadu and not Jonathan as Ribadu would fight corruption.She declined, saying that the northerners have a born to rule mentality.
Buhari conned people. People thought he would fight corruption because of his record with Idiagbon. Nobody knew he was just a figurehead and that Idiagbon was the real ruler then.
Tinubu s record is greater than Peter obis as he faced huge adversities during his governorships tenure and moreover Obi is not trusted on security as he could release Kanu and thereby unleash Igboho and all the insurrectionists in Nigeria causing huge problems.
The south east has never brought forward any competent principled candidate. The presidency is a marathon not a sprint and requires strategic thinking.To win, the south east must present a political goliath that the nation would want to rally behind.
