I can't help but appreciate the great work the town planners @ Alausa are doing, they're sculpting a perfect skyline.

Lagos must be the heaviest construction site in the world, just look at the busy construction cranes all over the place,

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR THE ID? what happens to those that are not qualified to have one? its simple.  you really need basic research. as a nigerian there is an obligation to read the constitution. that is why you think like a illiterate. you do not have a level of expectation for your leaders. the guvnor of each state is to issue orders and instructions on the security of the state to the commissioner.it is thus the responsibility of the state of security is that of the gurnor. and the verdict:terrible.
It was not meant for you, you're incapable of rational thoughts. I dare not waste my time messing with an ignoramus like you,

The on-going work on site is essentially a re-development project under the auspices of the Lagos State Government with necessary support of interested private sector operators. The objective of the re-development exercise is to; among other targets, ensure that the market, upon completion, is able to accommodate 10,000 traders in a healthy, well-managed environment of world-class standard. The project's plan makes provision for a well-equipped fire station and a truck loading and off-loading facility. Others are a police post, a sewage treatment plant and a car park with the capacity to accommodate at least 580 cars.

pls, has BRT solved the transportation crisis? Lagos is a metropole and one of the most populated cities in Africa and has no City Metro.  Joburg has, Cairo has, Windhoek has!!. BRT simply increases the traffic pressure on the road and is definitely not a long term solution and fast becoming a disaster. But the ingenious Govnor has a nice plan: throw out non-indigenes.
He must have personally conveyed this to you in your dream.

Lagosians are always on the JOB,

(AFP) – 12 hours ago

LAGOS — A Nigerian group said Tuesday it would next week mobilise over 5,000 volunteers to give a notorious slum in the centre of Lagos, the country's commercial hub, a facelift.

"On Saturday December 12, 2009, over 5,000 volunteers, will converge on Mushin local government area of Lagos State to paint seven selected streets in the area in an unprecedented community development initiative," project coordinator Fela Durotoye said in a statement here.

He said the initiative tagged "Mushin Makeover" would be a one-day exercise involving painting of houses and roadside curbs as well as structures along the most noticeable and eye-catching parts of the community, notorious for its dusty and dirty look, high crime rate and over-crowding.

Durotoye said volunteers from all walks of life -- entertainment, security agencies, students, traders, professionals and business and corporate class -- would participate in the beautification project.

He said the project being organised by Visible Impact, a non-profit making organisation, has the support of the state government because it fits into its ongoing megacity programme.

Lagos, Nigeria's most populous city with somewhere between 15 and 17 million people, has decided to overhaul its image.

Governor Babatunde Fashola said a trip he made to Singapore before becoming governor in 2007 gave him a model on which to base his transformed megacity.

He said focus has been put on revamping the transportation and road sector, improving waste management and water provision, property development and the environment.

Fashola should concentrate on deliverying the railway rather than that pointless ID Card scheme he has embark on. To be sincere who do u think will bear the brunt if the military boys take over now with this YARDUA Debacle - Tinubu, that N16 billion his company is collecting from Lagos State will cease I can gurantee you.

with a thief like fashola and an accomplice like tinubu, how would funds be left for the project. besides they still have to rely on the federal govt for funds because its a costly one. the idea for six geo-political states is bright because they would have a wider base for revenue and probably state police idea would be viable.
For some reason I enjoy reading your posts, I find them refreshingly comical, lol.

why this blind faith? for God's sake this unfortunate govnor has no respect for the constitution, why classify harmless defenceless poor invalids as public nusiance. The constitution clearly states that nigerian citizens are free to move and own property in any state of the federation. thus, why does fashola want to use this id mechanism to restrict and control movement of nigerian citizens. probably his next harebrain scheme is purge the state of all non-indigenes. this move is an unnecessary step backwards.
Really, your problem is paranoia, not Fashola.

^^^ Utter rubbish. The writer must think states are federal parastatals or local governments. He/she is in dire need of some crash course on Nigerian system of government and basic social studies.

You are a resident of where you live, work, shit and pay taxes and if not, you're a non resident, meaning you are not entitled to state benefits and you're free to go back to where ever you live, work, shit and pay taxes, they owe you same sets of benefits the Lagos state governments offers it's residents.

I know the state is chartering new and uncharted waters in Nigeria because the federal government and other states have been sleeping and still sleeping, they have no clue per their arrogated obligations and rights as a state/s. To a lot of them, the federal government is still the alpha and omega, the beginning and end of everything.

Fashola is obviously laying the foundation for a sane, credible and prosperous society, the society the federal government  don't give a hoot about and have zero or no interest in. Only a stupid and incompetent state government folds it's hands and take cues from useless and inept federal government.

The way I see it and hate or like him, Fashola is the main catalyst for change and meaningful government in Nigeria and states all over the country ought to borrow and use his template.

An for my own good and sanity, I'll ignore most of the dumb and Ignorant talk in the article,

PoliticsRe: Lagos Citizens To Have State Identity Card In 2010 - Fashola by babapupa: 12:09am On Nov 29, 2009
Fashola Advocates Accurate Census Figure As Bases For Good Governance.

Speaking on the topic, “Ethics and Good Corporate Citizenship, the Lagos Experience”, Governor Fashola declared, “If we do not resolve this fundamental issue very quickly; if we do not know the number of people in the country, how do we know how much power they need, how much water they need, how many houses they need, we can never get it right”.

The Governor lamented that even the basic information from individuals which are also fundamental in building up data for good governance are lacking, pointing out that people are unwilling to give such basic information as their ages, residential addresses, date of birth and other related information that are necessary for building up essential data.

Likening governance to staging a party, Governor Fashola queried, “How can anyone stage a party without knowing the number of guests that are expected? That is an invitation to chaos.”. He wondered why people shy away from giving such information at home while they readily do so at the entry points into foreign countries when they travel abroad. “Citizens must sign on. They must let us know that they exist”,
he said.

You guys are losing it, if you stayed in Abuja for one month you wouldn't wanna live in any other part of the country for obvious reasons, unless you are not all that rich or lucky to find yourself in a city of Abuja.

There's nothing i cherish in life like maximum security, good road network hence less traffic, serene environment and basic amenities.

Most people that claim to be living in Abuja live outside the city of Abuja, the best way one can enjoy Abuja is to own a house in Abuja.
How do you reconcile both?
