Lagos Shuts Churches

The Lagos State Government has shut down a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and two parishes of Mountain of Fire Miracles Church, MFM.

Sixteen companies were also shut this morning over environmental pollution and degradation. Also shut down was Academy Press Plc, Ilupeju for obstructing LASEPA officials from carrying out their duty.

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, Task Force and OP-MESA stormed the affected places this morning and shut them for violating LASEPA Edict.

The three churches located in Ojo area of the state were shut over noise pollution.

The closure of the affected places is part of the state government’s effort to sanitise the environment and prevent all kinds of pollution.

Also shut down was Academy Press Plc, Ilupeju for obstructing LASEPA officials from carrying out their duty.

Flash Industries, Ogba, was shut for failing to comply with the directive of the agency as well as over poor management of waste oil.

TIPP Press Limited, Somolu, was closed for emitting fume from generator, noise pollution and poor aesthetics, while an illegal chemical depot in the area was also shut.

Ogekpo Printing Press, Ajao Estate, was shut over noise pollution and gaseous emission from generator, while Relonola Advertising Limited, Oregun was shut over noise pollution.

Veracity Company, Rolly Polly, Road Network Transport, all at Oregun and Feenak Company Limited, Ajao Estate were shut over spent oil spillage and a bakery was also shut over noise and air pollution.

Tower Houseware, Ikeja and Sosaco Nigeria Limited were shut over offences ranging from obstructing LASEPA officials from carrying out their duties, failure to observe industrial exercise and noise pollution from generators.

LASEPA General Manager, Engr. Rasheed Shabi said the agency over a period of time investigated complaints about sanitation and environmental pollution caused by these companies and churches and decided to shut them down.

The affected companies continued with their nuisance despite the issuance of abatement of nuisance notices.

Shabi stated that the affected companies will not be reopened until they comply with the environmental laws of the state.

Oct 15, 2009 - Lagos State Government was Thursday cleared of any financial commitment to the Sunborn Yacht Hotel as financiers of the investment; Diamond Capital Limited said the State Government has no hand in the hotel.

At a press briefing at the Lagos House Alausa, Ikeja, after a meeting chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to resolve the various issues surrounding the hotel, Managing Director of Diamond Capital Limited, Mr. Tony Onwu confirmed that the Lagos State Government and the taxpayers in the State have no financial commitment to the hotel.

In a short statement he read to pressmen at the occasion, Onwu declared, “Lagos State Government and the taxpayers in Lagos State do not have any financial commitment or otherwise to the entire investment that has brought this project this far”.

Dude that is why I said I won't waste time at all. Lagos state proposal happens to be different from any other like someone referenced CA. I believe like someone said the same sloar energy company in CA (monitored by the same dept) are the same people who are interested in investing Nigeria to set this up. I assumed you were educated, but I was wrong. For the record, Information are there for research purposes ok, I guess you did not know that did you. Just because it has nothing to do with Lagos, does not mean the variables, resources or anything comparable will change.

My bad, Lagos state govt. must have sent them the original detailed plan and budget for still " a proposed project. Even if people claimed to have this knowledge, must you believe them? Do you have any proof? Why are they not sharing this info with us? Do you wanna spin that again?


And let's deal with this research thing and get it out of the way. What's the porpoise of this research? Is it to discuss general applications of solar energy or it's directly dealing with the state's green energy plans including what the state is spending on the cars, the cost of batteries, installation, feasibility and consultancy charges? And is this research including the likely fact that it's a discounted PPP project, and the state is capable of negotiating better deals beyond what your research dictates because of the state's buying power, is it factoring that maybe everything could be donated by other entities doing business with the govt.


Of what use is this research again?

1. There are tons of several research and developments papers , articles, findings, forecasting tool and analytics, cost and benefit analysis,  about solar energy for several uses including residential, commercial, automotive and so on and forth and this includes your govt recent proposal.

Governor Fashola of Lagos State, who’s the wonder kid of Nigerian politics and infact one of the best who have risen since independence, is not blaming the federal government of marginalisation, before doing the wonders he is performing in Lagos. Fashola would have my vote and support any day he comes out to contest for the presidency; he is the best so far. What he has achieved for Lagos State in two years, is more than what anybody has achieved for his state since independence till now. Fashola has shown all of us that everything is possible, if the leaders could put their mind and energy to it. Fashola has taught all of us that any politician who is under-performing is mischievous and wicked, because, an Igbo saying has it that “he who claims not to know how to dig a hole on the ground, is mischievous (onye siri na ya amaghi ala egwü, bu onye aruruala)”. If Fashola can do it big time, why can’t other governors do it also?  

Lagos State government donated 10 APCs, 1,000 AK 47 riffles, one million rounds of ammunition and several communication gadgets to the State Police Command. Benue State Governor, Suswam, stated recently that his administration was doing all within its power to step up security, disclosing that he bought Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), to help security operatives in the state to perform their duties better.

I see its only in Nigeria, particularly Lagos that a when an official proposal is made, it lacks simple detail. For the record, official government proposals have detailed information beyond what you would imagine. Look at several U.S. state or FG proposals made before the U.S. congress or the people.

Budget and forecast are two different things entirely, perhaps if you clearly understood my english, I was saying forecasting (predicting) and our economics tells us we have different forecast techniques with some not necessary dealing with numbers. You are absolutely right, I need numbers based up certain data I gather from different sources. When I get home, I will do a quick analysis for you comparable to what I'm talking about. This was based on a simple study I did.
