Someone close to me is a single mom and I know how tough it was for her. She lost her job when the boss found out. Imagine!!! Like how was it her business. Thank God for family that stood by her and protected her from public scorn. Now the kid is 2yrs and everything is fine.

The annoying thing is all those guys that come to marry her but put condition that she will leave the boy behind angry
I wonder how they just expect her to abandon her son

Insanity: Its good you're bragging on ya course of study but I don't know if you're in the system. In the full course of events before the exporting of crude, We have different phases, from basic engineering>detailed engineering>procurement>construction>installation>commissioning>first oil.

Geology comes in the beginning of basic engineering BE, that's like 1-2 years of discovery, examining the crude type to determine the type of topsides facilities needed to refine the crude to the required specifications. Mind you, this done with the reservoir engineers. After the BE, their works is done, i n comes the detailed eng phase, work starts for the subsea engineers (depending on the location of the bloc), process eng, mechanical engineer, piping engineers, rotating equipment engineers, PDMS enigneers, structural engineers to design the facilities. This phase last for like 2-4 years, or even longer. Then procurement and purchasing of materials, construction where We have material eng, welding eng, mechanical eng, civil/structural/construction eng. And it goes on and on...this is strictly for E&P ie exploration and production coys, mostly IOCs.

So you see, geology is not the back bone discipline in this illustration. In my opinion, We all complement each other 'cause you can't work without any of them. Take Care.
The work of the Geologist and petroleum Engr is never done. Even during the operate phase of the field life cycle, they are heavily involved with the field and facilities management. Even during abandonment and restoration, there is always need for their input

Swiftboy: Sorry to burst your bubbles...Geologists are not the main discipline in oil and gas...its well Engineers! grin
Geosciences forns the bedrock of the E&P industry. Without them the whole oil to tank chain will not take place

Pastor Olu T: Did u read the post? It has nothing to do with water baptism, the water there means the WORD!
Ephesians 5:25: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
John 17:17: Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth
James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls
1Peter 1:23: having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides foreve

Christianity EtcRe: A Thread For Catholics by babestell(f): 4:25pm On Jan 08, 2014
Why?

Pope Francis has reportedly abolished the practice of granting priests the honorary title of "monsignor" and has communicated the decision through Vatican ambassadors around the world.
From now on, only diocesan priests over the age of 65 will be eligible to receive the title, according to a report Saturday at the Italian newspaper La Stampa's website Vatican Insider.

The title monsignor is an honorific of sorts normally granted to priests as a reward for service to the church or as a sign of some special function they serve in church governance. The title had usually been granted by the pope on the recommendation of the priest's local bishop.

Some have criticized the practice, saying it leads to an air of careerism in the church.

The subject of abolishing the monsignor title had been on the pope's mind since at least October, when sources had told NCR it had come up at the first meeting of the Council of Cardinals, the eight member group of cardinals from around the world who are advising the pope on reforming the Vatican bureaucracy.

I like it. Now I hope some of them will return to concentrating on being Priest

Mr Aboki: Is the catholic Church the oppressed or the Oppressor?!
In this particular context, what do you think?
Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis Speech At The Conclusion Of Third Vatican Council. by babestell(f): 11:12am On Jan 06, 2014
Origins: On December 2013, the Diversity Chronicle blog published an article positing that at the Third Vatican Council, Pope Francis had condemned racism and declared that "all religions are true":
Shortly afterwards links and excerpts referencing this article were being circulated via social media, with many of those who encountered the item mistaking it for a genuine news item. However, the article was just a spoof: No Third Vatican Council has been convened (the Second Vatican Council took place in the early 1960s), and the blog that published this item, the Diversity Chronicle includes a disclaimer noting that "The original content on this blog is largely satirical."
Read more at http://www.snopes.com/politics/satire/francis.asp#MSlcDcZ8jCyxUti2.99

@OP
The Bible clearly tells us not to give false witness. You read the article on the Diversity blog and also saw the disclaimer but you still went ahead to post it on Nairaland without posting the disclaimer as well. Just know that God fights for the oppressed and maligned, a word is enough for the wise

Certain pilgrimages have activities attached to certain spiritual activities that go on there. So if I go on a pilgrimage to Lourdes I will receive indulgences attached to praying the rosary there or stations of the cross. Remember some people go there as tourists and actually have no interest in obtaining indulgences.
Pilgrimages like retreats if properly managed are extremely powerful ways of reconnecting with the spiritual, a good way to receive power from above. I pray I have the opportunity to walk the same route as my Saviour walked while he went to the cross, to imagine that 2000 years ago Emmanuel was being tortured on this same route, haba! that is very humbling. But it is also true that people capitalize on this devotion to make cash, yesterday in CIWA someone was selling Jerusalem stone, claiming it would cure poison, pursue demons etc. His market was really moving!

Do you plan to remain a Catholic after marriage. Have you discussed this with your husband to be?
Christianity EtcRe: A Thread For Catholics by babestell(f): 7:42am On Jan 04, 2014
Sal C: Dear Sister, though you realize you did something wrong out of curiosity, I have. Few things to tell you.

1) Whatever you do in life without considering God's stand or will, you are bound to fail and regret.
2) In your relationship, you should put God first.

You wanted to go ahead of God by engaging in fornication by God simply want to let you know that the final decision rests with him.

If you truly love this man as you said, and you are convinced he's the right person, go ahead and marry him, please get married and legally wedded before God and see what God can do, I've seen it happen before.
Sound advice

Btw ladies, if you are about to get married, don't listen to this talk of abstinence... sample that tool and make sure it works perfectly fine to your satisfaction before your wedding night. No one wants to pull down those pants and see her pinky finger dangling in front of her or have a 2min man as a husband.

RomanceRe: Abortion: Now A Proof Of Love? by babestell(f): 12:54pm On Jan 03, 2014
Life is a b**ch to women in naija sha
Your family is on your neck to get married so you hook up with Mr A whom you like unfortunately you get knocked up and then Mr A realizes he cant afford a family or get married and you cant go back home because the stigma and disgrace would be too much to bear. Hence you readily agree when he says lets abort, Unfortunately he confides in his friends who advise him that if you could agree so easily that means that you must be very experienced in it, is he sure you haven't done previous abortions, would you still be able to give birth bla-bla, before u know it, your boyfriend-less and everyone is wondering why you cant keep a guy.

From childhood boys are taught to be independent and decision makers, girls are taught to depend on their fathers, brothers and future husbands. unfortunately they carry over this mentalities to their relationships and seem to relinquish even control of their bodies to men.

Sunshine lady: Just see d dangers : heartbreak, STDs, unwanted pregnancy, abortion, droppin out of skul(if u r still in skul), ur parents disownin u (if dey are d strict type), bein a single mum, loosing ur self esteem etc. Pls pls my fellow ladies, let's help ourselves. Men are created naturally selfish (don't mean any offence by dat) , & dey ll do anythin to get wat dey want; claimin to love u, promisin marriage, usin money, saying since u aint a virgin so y don't u do it, threatenin to leave u, etc. Pls all don't fall for any of dese.
I really liked your statement but unfortunately despite all these dangers there are countless examples of girls who did the "runs" and ended up happy or so it seems, and most times these are the ones that are held up as examples for others to follow. Maybe its time to teach ourselves to be selfish especially about our bodies and hearts.

rigarmortis: yes OP...abortion is a proof of love.
if a girl loves a guy and "mistakenly" got preggy for the same guy....
if the guy is not ready to settle down...due to some reasons.......(working on a project that requires full attention, masters degree, has not built his house etc,) then the girl should be able to prove her love and abort the foetus before it becomes a baby.
yes.....its a proof of love.
.
You may insult him all you like, but rigarmortis has a valid point (from a guy's POV). Because this is how they think, it makes rational sense to them....even the so called ones who carry church on their head.

On the flip side. For those interested in restoring their lost purity http://thisgirlscity.com/hymen-repair-how-to-get-virginity-back/

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!

Happy last day of 2013 to you all. Our God is indeed mighty as he allowed us to see this day. May his name be praised for ever and ever. My message for all as we approach a new year is

Joshua Chapter 1 [From the NLT - New Living Translation]

1 After the death of Moses the Lord's servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' assistant. He said................., 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do...... 9 This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Every time I read the first chapter of the book of Joshua I feel encouraged to go out and take over the world (like literally). Unfortunately a lot of people feel ambition is not a Christian/Catholic trait. But the WORD here clearly states what we need to do in order for ambition not to clash with our love of God and neighbour. As we enter the new year I want to encourage everyone of us to be doers and not just sayers. Support your faith with action...know that the Lord rewards the bold and see strength and courage as a virtue. Like Joshua, We, too, are being asked to go forward with courage and strength because God has promised to be with us, guiding us, holding us close. God is here and will not fail us or forsake us.
It's time to start taking steps toward being a person, like Joshua, who can be with God's help, strong and courageous for Christ.

Step One: We need to be able to accept change in our life. We need to let go of the past and be willing to move forward, to start fresh, to take a new step, or a giant leap, when God calls for it.
Step Two: We must stand on the promises with confidence and assurance.
Step Three: We must fully believe and accept and embrace the promise of Jesus Christ.

Have a blissful last day of the year. God bless us all
