(1) Living in the moment - When you’re with your favorite people be it friends or family, the inside jokes, no phones, no checking of time, time flies - those moments are pure bliss. I used to take it for granted when I was younger. Very therapeutic. 10/10

(2) Sufficient Funds - As an adult, having just about enough money to pay all my bills and even change remaining gets me in good moods. I blame capitalism for this feeling. 4/10

(3) Entertainment And Art - Food, Music, Literature, Books, Orgasms, Nature, Comedy, Sports And Movies are just everything. Can be therapeutic 9/10

(4) My Face - Superficial, yes but I just really like my face lol Not the best looking but it’s easy to look at. 7/10

This is first class foolishness by the governor of Enugu state.

The idiots came with police to seal the shops but they don't assign police men that will protect the markets.

Business transaction needs customers too. If the traders open, will the governor force the customers out of their homes to buy? Maybe, he should go and arrest residents inside their homes.

They left Simon Ekperima and his gang to fight innocent residents. The governor has bullet proof suv. Is there any keke that is bulletproof? The police that should protect people are busy extorting motorist. If armed robbers come to your house and tell you to lie down, will you stand or obey? The governor is indirectly working for Ekpa because those businesses you are shutting down will have extra days to sit at home.
It is like the government taking over a farm because the owner refuse to come due to fulani herdsmen invasion. The traders should get a lawyer to sue the government for billions in damages.

He should have opened the shop himself and sell for them without any security detail attached to him and let him enjoy the “safety” of the area.

Oh my! Soul is deep

We all cant be the same but can adapt through unique social values.

Find joy in what you do.

Accepting change can be difficult but we gave to be ready

Dont get lost in your job that you'll forget those that matter to you in life

Everyone's passion should be nurtured and respected

Negative words impacts a lot. We all need encouraging words. It does a whole lot of help. Refuse to be swayed by people's negative words

There is always a moment where we find our spark.

It's good to be skilled.

And so on..

I have the exact same opinions about Soul. I watched Soul at a period in my life where I was starting to feel really lost in my career and Soul told me to breathe, it told me that it was enough to simply exist and love things and people and it was right. I cried when I watched Soul the first time, Soul spoke to my soul.

RobinRay:

my first encounter with Studio Ghibli movies was Spirited Away; I was initially drawn by the aesthetics of it all but it blossomed into an appreciation of the genius that is Hayao Miyazaki grin

Arcane was a weird one for me, I watched the first 2 episodes to see what the hype was about; I didn't know when I binged the whole season in one go, last I heard S2 might drop in early 2024...

LDR came out after I watched 5 seasons of Black Mirror, so it really satisfied my itch for anthologies at that point. S1 is the only season I can rewatch with no skips. My favourite episodes are The Secret War and probably Jibaro.

Tuca and Bertie is a must-watch for any fan of Bojack same goes with Undone.

Bojack Horseman singlehandedly raised my expectations of what a well-written show should be from the subtle jokes in the background to Princess Carolyn's tongue twisters to Todd's wacky schemes. Bojack Horseman is comedic perfection. My favourite episode? Free Churro S5E6; his eulogy at his mom's funeral. My favourite character has to be Princess Carolyn.

Bob Burgers and I can never seem to work grin, I just don't know why. Watched the first 2 seasons and I was like meh...

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give it a watch smiley

Yes yes same! I was initially interested in studio Ghibli because of the aesthetics but found the stories are even more compelling.

😂😂 I was reluctant to watch Arcane too until I did and it blew my mind. I really hope S2 is done.

Now that you mention it, I'll watch Black Mirror. I didn't even know it is an anthology. Same for me Jibaro in LDR.

Undone? I'll check out the trailer.

Ahhh you get it! You're a true movie enthusiast! I couldn't have described Bojack Horseman better. The transition cameos of the human-animals is just comedy gold. You never know maybe a bird will fly into a window on its way to work or a cow will serve milk from its udders at a restaurant. And the animal puns are well written too!
Free Churo is gut wrenching. "I.C.U? I see you. My mom died and all I got is a free churo"
Poor Princess Carolyn, glad things kinda worked out for her in the end sort of. "Of course, of course, of course, this is what you get when you fall for a horse"

Oh too bad! Bob's Burgers is the one I watch to really relax or enjoy a Saturday morning. There's always a feel good at the end of each episode, exciting music and the puns and witty remarks are the best I've heard in animation.

What's your favourite animated series now?

RobinRay:
Most Nigerians tend to assume animation is childish or redundant genre.

What they fail to realise is that it is a very very efficient medium of storytelling that live-action media could never replicate.

And it's incredibly diverse from animé to stop motion to 3d animation to conventional 2d animation.

Some of the best offerings I've seen this year in no particular order are:

Fired From Mars
The Boondocks (it's shocking how each episode can be applied to the Nigerian setting, we all know at least one Uncle Rukus)
Dr. Stone
Vinland Saga
Virtually all films by Studio Ghibli
When The Wind Blows
Arcane
Bojack Horseman
Family Guy/American Dad (not as comedic as earlier seasons anymore)
Undone
Tuca and Bertie
The Simpsons
Archer
and so on.

In summary, animation isn't a genre of media, but a medium by which complex stories are told in an engaging manner.

Is it weird to say you give me goosebumps?😅

I also have watched virtually all studio Ghibli, Ponyo, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle In The Sky,
Ocean Waves, Arietty, Spirited Away, When Marnie Was There, Princess Kaguya, The Wind Rises, My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Monoke,
Whisper Of The Heart, Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind, Kiki's Delivery Service, Only Yesterday.
My favourite has to be Spirited Away and Only Yesterday; it's even my NL profile pic.

Arcane was finely done! It's a bummer that they discontinued it! I have a feeling you watched Love Death + Robots too.

Family Guy is just squeezing what's left at this point.

I can't even believe there'd be a Nigerian watching Tuca and Bertie like I do! I absolutely love animations with animals in it for some reason lol I think the animal related comedy is fresh + Tuca And Bertie is very colourful and realistic somewhat until Tuca does something crazy 😂. Favourite episode is Season 2 Episode 4.

Bojack Horseman. My favourite TV show of all time. I obsess over Bojack Horseman. I watched Bojack Horseman so much that I even finish their sentences most of the time. "Mr Peanut Butter and Bojack Horseman in the same room, what is this, a cross over episode?" My favourite episode, hard to pick one but it's Fish out of Water, season 3 episode 4. Favourite character Todd Chavez.

After Bojack Horseman, for me is Bob's Burgers.

You should watch The House, animated anthology movie.

I don't have to pick one when i can do both. The big question is, of the 2 choices, which of them can pay off it's loan faster?... Nigeria already has pure natural gas which is currently being burnt away as flares. Nigeria currently burns away almost $1billion in gas annually which can pretty quickly be trapped as revenue... Developing agriculture is important, but I don't believe it's a good enough reason to abandon otehr viable income earners.

Those countries you mention will never abandon a readily available income generator like gas in their quest for developing agriculture. Agriculture is important, but again and again, that is not a reason you shouldn't grab other low hanging fruits.... Those countries will gladly use the money generated from the gas to develop their agricultural sector, they wouldn't abandon oil and gas in search of food!

That’s a whole different discussion as you’d have to give me realistic details on how you want to fund both projects. The topic is NNPCL to construct another gas pipeline only and you’re in support and I’m saying I’d rather we focus on Agriculture with that money.

These countries were well established in agriculture, some using our kind as slaves on plantations years before embarking on oil exploration.

You appear like a breathing symptom and possibly victim of exploitative capitalism and you’re allowed to have your opinion. I reckon knowledge on economic evolution and African history would have served you greatly. If you think this is the way, great then! Enjoy purchasing food items in dollars or food inflation.

No lets try that again cos your analogy is flawed.

You have FOOD only, while I have OIL and GAS and FOOD. Kindly explain to me how you'd inflate the price of your food to me when I also have food?

Like I said in my previous post, a poor man thinks of only his next meal, while a wealthy person thinks of how to sustain the next generation. A poor man thinks of hiw to grow food to feed his family, a rich mind thinks beyond just food.

lol you don’t even understand the philosophy behind your last paragraph and you keep bringing it up. A wealthy man is one that can feed his family that they even get fat. We in Nigeria are not wealthy yet. Tell me a country that is top ten in the world THAT HAS ARABLE LAND and doesn’t invest heavily in agriculture. USA, China, Russia even India are top producers. 54% of the land in Netherlands is used for agriculture despite having gas and it’s only natural according to evolution. Africa is starving because African countries with the arable land are digging the soil for everything but food.

The foundation of your argument is very questionable and like I said it’s a selfish worldview based on capitalist ejaculations.

Obviously, doing both would be great! But it’ll cost a lot to do both. In the event where we had to pick one (which was our initial argument), your opinion was suggesting oil and pipes over agriculture and I strongly disagreed.

A poor man thinks only of food and his belly. A rich man knows that if he develops his business and earns good money, he can buy anything he wants (including foods) with the money he has and he will never go hungry...

You say you'd rather borrow money and improve agriculture to feed instead of building a pipe. As for me, I would rather do both cos building that pipe would give me the money which can in-turn be used to improve agriculture, or even to quickly pay off the loan used to develop agriculture.... None of these projects is more or less important than the other and no sector has to suffer while we develop the others.

In otherwords, a developed agricultural sector can earn Nigeria billions of dollars, but that isnt a reason why Nigeria should abandon developing its export and local infrastructure for gas which can also earn the country billions of dollars.

I take it that you don’t read books on human evolution and Africa as well is why you think building a pipe is the same as food. All I see you say is earn earn earn, be selfish and that was the epoch of capitalism in this world.

If you have oil and pipes and I have food, I can inflate the price of my food so it appears like food that grows on its own in all lands and oil that is a luxury that requires several processes are of the same value. To buy my food, you therefore, have to reduce the value of your oil to shitttt to meet your food needs and that’s the story of Nigeria today and why we can’t join BRICS.

I really hope people like you do not aspire to be leaders in the near future because you don’t read the important African books only those “How to be a millionaire in 5 days” books.

Anything that improves the economy indirectly puts food on the table of every Nigerian.

If Nigeria starts exporting more of those gases that it flares, it translates to more revenue/forex income for the country, a better value for the Naira, more jobs, more income for Nigerians, a reduction in environmental degradation in the Niger Delta etc.

If we calm down, it's more than obvious that this oil thing is not the way forward short term. If we choose to diversify the economy, there are low hanging fruits in the areas of agriculture and security that'll ease the pressure on the populace directly.

I'd rather we borrow money to improve our agriculture to feed ourselves than to build pipes. No be who chop bellefull go dey build pipe.

You have a better understanding of the situation.

Two of the important issues you mentioned were taught in my primary and secondary school history classes

Our teacher never fail in reminding us that one of the advantages of the Europeans coming to colonise us was bringing an end to tribal warfare; we know better today that the tribal fights was only on suspension

The other one is what led to the fall of empires. If we look at problems bedeviling Nigeria today, it is not different from what led to the end of empires. Just like emperor's of old, Nigeria successive leadership have failed to tackle the issue of corruption by govt.officials, dwindling revenue, marginalisation of vassal states, insurrection etc.

Empires decline slowly. This one will fall one day if the managers fail to act!

Well said. What they call “tribal warfare” is what Russia and Ukraine are doing right now which is natural because each country is working on the basis of Unity Of Purpose like our regions were before Europeans.

Imagine if someone just stepped in now and amalgamated Ukraine and Russia lol you can say goodbye to world power Russia first of and all the ills you mentioned, corruption, insurrection will be the order of the day .

But ultimately, United States Of Africa must become a thing for defence against the West. Even if Africa divides into 132 different countries based on language, the goal is to know that all must be committed to AFRICA, have an African army and we must return to speaking our native languages and embracing our culture even more. It is when African people speak French and practice French culture that they can betray Africa. The absence of a united front in Africa is how black Africans lost Egypt to the Arabs and were chased to Sudan. Sorry for derailing a little.

Majority population of successful revolution share common language and religion

I agree! The move by Europeans amalgamating Nigeria sent us centuries back because it means Nigeria is yet to fight the series of tribal/civil wars that’ll set a strong foundation of UNITY OF LANGUAGE in each region, something we already enjoyed before white people. Unity of Language is the first instinct of humans for defence and safety.

I think in Southern Europe alone they fought about 3 civil wars.

It is only after a society has found UNITY OF LANGUAGE that they naturally proceed to have a strong foundation of UNITY OF PURPOSE. Common enemy changes from other languages speakers to your own language speaker wey dey do you and that’s always the govt.

It’s in the Unity of Purpose phase that people of common language decide that they are all the same people and the political class do not deserve better than them. Discussions of whose ethnic group’s turn it is never arises and there’s a strong sense of unity in whatever course of action they take.

According to history, the next Nigerian civil war is perhaps inevitable. Despite keeping Nigerian history away from kids at school to create a more docile population and less revolutionary-type youths, we still have symptoms of a fractured society with Ipob, Boko Haram and Oduduwa Agitators since school is not the only place people learn. Humans learn by watching too.

It’s a matter of time, I guess. No better recipe for a civil war than a crippling economy, selfish govt officials and an everyday recovering tribe in the east that’s been marginalized.

The guy also wants cheaper fuel too.

I know Nigerians very well. Minute prices goes up, everyone is calling for a revolution, lol.

It's almost like Nigerians don't understand why prices have to go up sometimes. Companies do not exist to suck up money into one rich Alhaji;s pocket....they have to pay for a host of stuff.

Yes, it’s only right cheaper fuel should be demanded for after a revolution, which is very attainable if govt owned refineries were working as they should at maximum capacity.

What’s wrong with demanding a revolution when prices of things that are already inflated go further up? Why are Nigerians so far behind when it comes to the discussion of emancipation?

I don’t fully understand your last paragraph but it suggests that you’re glorifying capitalists that are making you and I suffer. Prices of cars, wrist watchs, televisions can go as high as they want but the essentials like food, water, land, materials for housing, gas/fuel should NEVER be high. They should be close to free in fact because nobody owns them, we all found them in the soil and they grow on their own.

Oga, if you are organizing a revolution because you want prices to be cheaper, you are setting the stage for long queues and chronic scarcity.

The problem is, people have to make money.

What you are calling for has been tried before in many countries...and it always failed.

What are you talking about? Not a revolution for cheaper fuel lol, that’s not even a revolution.

I think what he meant is a revolution to halt the fraudulent activities of the government/civil service and make a new constitution by the people and for the people.
