What is wrong with capitalism?

If you were given the visa to USA today, tell us you wouldn't go.

What makes you think I haven't already visited USA? Besides, what's the point with your question? Why not use Angola or Sudan, also capitalist countries.

Use this phrase as a guideline when you think of Capitalism -- "Just because you can doesn't mean you should"

CAPITALISM
The question should be what isn't wrong with Capitalism? Capitalism is a forced concept by European elites that allows them to do and take/use whatever belongs to the populace whilst impoverishing that populace. Capitalists pay peanuts to the populace, introduce insane working hours which we do for years, so they(Capitalists) can live anyhow and create waste.
Capitalists use our commonwealth/natural resources to create their wealth, so why do a few people get to decide what to do with our resources with go-ahead from the govt... because the Government is an extension of Capitalists/Elites in a Capitalist system.

Let me explain further why Capitalism is an elitist tool for exploitation. If capitalists could have their way, they would use our resources to build enterprise and make immense profit without employing a single person. Capitalists do it for themselves not for you. In Capitalism, there's always the winning side and the losing side instead of humanity side. Africa is losing Capitalism because USA/Europe is winning Capitalism. Dangote and a few MDs are winning Capitalism but a huge amount of Nigerians are losing Capitalism.

IMPERIALISM
Capitalism birthed colonialism/imperialism. Imperialism is Capitalism but on another nation's soil. Capitalism allows European Capitalists come into Nigeria and take natural resources, use it for enterprise, SIMPLY FOR PROFIT. Imperialism is insanity because initially blacks didn't have employment at European companies in Nigeria exploiting Nigerian resources SIMPLY for white profit. Does it make any sense? "Just because you can doesn't mean you should"

COMMUNISM/SOCIALISM
The idea in Karl Marx's Communism is for EVERYBODY, through the central authority, to decide what is best use for our resources, regardless of whatever innovative/passionate ideas individuals have. And the enterprise we decide on, everybody through the central authority decide working conditions and we all will be paid equally.
Under communism, enterprise is built for employment/comfort of the people not for profit. There are no poor people in Karl Marx's Communism.

Profit drives people crazy. Capitalism is why we're going to the moon with tax payers money amounting billions of dollars when there are poor people all over. "Just because you can doesn't mean you should"

It is a stupid thought.

If it were sited in Ondo state, won't people live there?

The refineries in Warri did not kill people.

See as you dey fight for capitalist who probably used your own money to build that refinery and will now pay you less than you deserve to work and refine OUR oil so he can become a billionaire. The only thing you should be doing is scrutinizing that refinery and it’s health hazards, not defending it.

You are the one who is sanctimonious and, most importantly, unprogressive. Have I denied any Nigerian is prejudiced? Including myself? I even bolded "myself" so you can see I am no hypocrite, always playing innocent victim, like you.

It is only your kind always playing victim because you view your future and fortunes as inextricably tied to 'one Nigeria' to the extent you cannot put pettiness aside to see the bigger picture.

You will even be going after individual when existentialist issues, affecting 200 million plus people, are being discussed because that is how incapable you are of rising above sentiments, emotions and bias when it matters. Something most responsible and progressive adult should be able to do.

Even in the most bitter war, mutually beneficial ceasefire can always be deployed between the most bitter of enemies for the greater good.

All you are showing here is just the petulance of a simple-minded adult, akin to a kid, who can only focus on people and not ideas.

If you claim people know me here then you should also know that most understand I am progressive always above everything else. Unlike pathetic haters and sadists like you looking for beef online always that deliver no solutions.

If those I even dislike are making progress I will be first to congratulate them because progress is what is most important.

Everything else, that we are all guilty of, are mere distractions. Those who do not understand that, like you, are the real and unreformable bigots who live to hate and blame.

How can you talk about progress when Tinubu and INEC have regressed our electoral system by 2 decades. Why not begin your fight for progress from the election which is most recent?

What is all the grammar you are writing?

Can yout grammar replace the jobs that thousands of the youths gained from entrance of Econet into our economy?

Do you even understand the spinoff associated with just their entrance?

People that used their employment to better their lot, travel abroad for postgraduate courses, build houses, marry, provide for their aged parents?

Let's not talk about the less privileged who were now able to make a living selling recharge cards and so on.

Abeg stop the useless grammar which cannot feed anyone and try to be pragmatic.

Grammar? Like I said, Jesus Christ doing the bare minimum.
You guys are a burden because you don’t read books that highlight black civilization and our upliftment. Hence, the conversation on NL is always shallow arguments about Tinubu and Obi instead of deep conversations about capitalism and socialism.

Yes, Econet a capitalist company made billions for themselves and by accident, provided jobs and put crumbs on the table for you after working to death but so did slavers in the 1700s. The mistake you make is to think billionaires/capitalist/Nigerian govt set up industry for your employment. Why then would minimum wage be 30k?

"Less privileged" black man meditate and receive consciousness, ask the important questions. What makes man "less privileged" in a world where we come naked without a thing. A less privileged man is one that is ON PURPOSE having less education, less healthcare, less everything, you strip them of their dignity for the basic things of life and call them "less privileged" because of the negligence and selfishness of people like Tinubu in this PHUCKED UP CAPITALIST WORLD.

Black man, I want you to meditate and receive consciousness. Read extensively on socialism and then look at your society and ask questions and you'll see the answers have always been there.

James Ibori vs Bola Ahmed Tinubu

When Econet came to Nigeria, they met with the political class to help them facilitate their operation lisence and Set-up

They met James Ibori who insisted on collecting millions of dollars as bribe

They met Bola Ahmed Tinubu who invested Lagos revenue in their company helping them setup and making profits in billions for Lagos State

When ExxonMobil wanted to build an headquarters, Bola Ahmed Tinubu quickly made available land in Lekki and as the company treasurer he ensured the building was constructed in Lagos

Sometimes it takes strong leadership like that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Jagaban of Borgu GCFR to control wayward youths and engage them like they did with MC Oluomo and his goons in Lagos

.
Sometimes you people make me feel like Jesus Christ in Nigeria and what's crazy is I don't even know much, all I know is the basics.

Let me break it down for you. When Tinubu became a tool for foreign interest and invested in these CAPITALISTS COMPANIES with OUR commonwealth, we Lagosians were underpaid by them. Lagosians were basically slaving and we still do.

But this is how you reduce the pain of slaving and the effects of exploitative capitalism. The tax paid by these Capitalists Companies you people call “IGR” ought to go AGGRESSIVELY towards ensuring the BEST standard of living for Lagosians. Housing, healthcare, education, loan, so that Lagosians can live a life of dignity.

Instead, all of our IGR is being gulped by one family. Your Tinubu is worse than Ibori because he’s smarter. A smart slaver.

NYSC / Re: Court Bars NYSC From Publicly Speaking On Peter Mbah's Certificate Saga by Babysho(m): 1:45pm On May 15, 2023

Many people ditch their Place of Primary Assignment placement or bribe their way to avoid it, because of other engagement or a more rewarding business activity. Who knows what Peter Mbah did.

Anyway, in present day Nigeria, the NYSC allowance is too small to sustain anyone, most especially when it comes in trickles, it more or less looks like slaving for peanuts.
The major aim of the NYSC, which is to help different tribe and people of Nigeria to socialise, in order to foster national unity in the space of 3 weeks at the camp should be sufficient.
I suggest the NYSC just involves only the on-camp orientation/training, (maybe it could be increased from 3 weeks to 4 or more) ,after that everyone should be discharged, and instead of the 33k which when cumulated would be about 390k+ corp members can be paid between 270k-350k at a go. This will help the government cut cost and would provide enterprising youth with capital for their business ideas.

Even starting shoe business will cost over 500k. Their SAED alone cost 15k-20k to learn shoe making. This is why socialism is important, the rat race and wastage don too much.

Warri was also one of the best cities in Nigeria, but it can't be compared to the likes of PH, Kaduna, Ibadan or Kano because of horrible politicians like Peter Obi that have been ruling Delta State

If Obi ruled Lagos State, Lagos State won't be at the level it is now, it would have still be competing with the likes of Kano

This is why I gave you a template to analyse their score card and HDI with respect to the condition of that state before they assumed office instead of using 'ifs'.

Don't use if. They both already did what they did with what they were given. A better way for you to sound logical is to debate with "Peter Obi could bring in a corruption free govt, one that is mostly for the masses but I don't believe it's good enough for economic growth".

Then, I could counter and say you believe Tinubu's corrupt government is right by you as long as there is economic development mostly for the elites/foreign interest. And I respect your capitalist, neocolonialist view.

Instead of clashing aimlessly claiming one did better than the other.

The same Peter Obi Anambra Indigenes dey wail bitterly about on this thread

https://www.nairaland.com/870945/what-exactly-peter-obi-doing

Lagos was already the best state in Nigeria, Tinubu said it himself in 1999 that Lagos was economically viable than most and when Tinubu took control of Lagos, he increased an already growing IGR from 1b to 6b, introduced free WAEC, good waste management, health care, financial management very impressive but his administration was riddled with so many corruption cases + how he increased his benefits.

Me and you know Anambra was a struggling state. Obi popular for debt management, collaborating with the missionaries for quality education, healthcare, low cost of govt BUT his administration had 1corruption case with the family brewery thing.

The only way to properly judge both of them is using their individual score card based on the quality of the states they took over at that time and not by what the states look like now. Couple the score card with their HDI rating and there's no way you'd easily say Tinubu did better. Both decent in their own capacity.

I think Tinubu supporters see the infrastructural side of his adminstration not knowing it's easy for Tinubu to do that and Obi supporters see the low cost of govt/low corruption and they know it's hard to do that.

- Capitalism
- Working For Someone Else Instead Of Yourself
- Waste
- Poverty
- Corruption
- Police Brutality
- Living In Fear
- Inability To Fulfill One's Purpose
- Inability To LIVE and Explore
(All of these work hand in hand)

Worst of all are the DOCILE ZOMBIES around us in their millions, who put weak leaders on pedestals for selfish reasons or sheer ignorance. Most of them are yet to pick up a single book on their evolution/history as black people, so they roam headlessly, slowing down the hour of true revolution of the most populated black country.

I've quoted you many times to reveal the truth to you but you're stuck on the fake news. Not all the states in Nigeria are on the same level in regards to development, FG funding, commercial viability, popularity etc

When you have their score card, then you look at their current age, health status, their party history, their character, their manifesto, vice etc and then you have your leader. Even if Tinubu's score card is 7/10 and Obi is 5/10, the rest age, health, party history, vice etc kinda gives Obi an edge at the end. Ki lo feel?

None whatsoever...!

I never expect anything from Nigerians and their leaders... That's one of the secrets of my good health! lipsrsealed

However, Tinubu has a lot to do in order to win over majority of Nigerians, and make them finally believe that he actually won that election!

The first is to clean up the petroleum and power sectors within one year in office...!

Next is to actually get EFCC and DSS working, not chasing shadows like lowlifes which they've been doing since Buhari came into office!

It will also be interesting to see how he manages the fuel subsidy removal along with its fallout!

National debt resolution can't be achieved in 6 months to a year except a miracle happens... But he should be able to start the process of sanitizing the debt situation of this already bankrupt nation!

If Tinubu makes EFCC work, even Tinubu will find himself and his urine bag behind bars. Politicians weaken all these parastatals on purpose so they can exploit them as they wish.

And quit calling them leaders, they’re mere politicians/businessmen/criminals.

If you see leader, to look am for eye go hard you. The name alone will give you goosebumps. Sankara! Mandela! Guevara!

The elections is come and gone and we have a president elect in Tinubu. A lot of Nigerians do not believe he his the right man to lead the nation forward while there are other group of people with a contrary opinions.

As a Nigerian, what are your expectations for Tinubu's first 6months in office?

I would go first!

In Tinubu's first 6months in office, I do not expect much difference from what we have experienced in Buhari's administration for a number if reasons.

1) 40% of his cabinet would likely be those already existing in Buhari's administration. These are the same set of people that have destroyed this nation in the last 8 years and are regrouping under the leadership of Tinubu. The lobbying is already going on.

2) Due to the elections, Tinubu have not been able to pay adequate attention to his health, thereby making him struggle health wise. After the inaugurations, I expect Tinubu to be in Nigeria max 2 weeks before he jets out to Europe for further treatment of his ailment. This might take 3 - 6months. Guess who will be handling the affairs of this nation? Kashim Shettima.

3) Islamic extremist like Shettima would not prioritize nation building, his number one agenda is the expansion of Islam. I foresee insecurity increasing.

4) Corruption: There would be an increase in corruption among those that are in the corridors of power like never before in Tinubu's administration. The fight against corruption would cease. Any attempt to fight it would be countered by blackmails. After all , they all know each others secret. Corruption can not fight corruption.

5) Development: In a nation where insecurity and corruption is the bane of the day, where would development come from?? In a situation where the money meant for development is continuously been stolen and citizens don't feel secured enough to be productive. For example people don't feel secured going to their farm lands or working late nights. Issues like these would drastically reduce any nations productivity.

We should just forget about development and progress. If there is any, it would be at snail pace.

One chilled bottle of Heineken for the way you dissected the deja vu we will be witnessing with Buhari pro max.

You forgot to add that Nigeria will be witnessing even worse election malpractices in 2027.

We also will have more slurred speeches that will turn to memes online. A presidential joke.

We’ve reached the wicked final boss(Tinubu)and if we no defeat am, the game go dey stuck there for life.

NYSC / Re: NYSC Is 50! Please Tell The World Where You Served. by Babysho(m): 10:06am On May 11, 2023
sidney22:
In another thread, the topic is on the way forward after 50 years of the scheme.

I did my youth service when NYSC was 25 years old in Calabar , Cross River State.
That was in 1998.

The orientation period was the shortest yet in the history of NYSC till date - 2 weeks that looked like one month.

The service year too was still the shortest - from February to December.

Leaving the camp then, we were given questionnaires to fill on the way forward for the scheme.

What I suggested then is what I am still going to suggest now on the way forward for this noble scheme.

Presently as it stands , NYSC has outlived its usefulness as originally planned.

A very laudable program that requires modification and twerking to suit the present day Nigeria.

It should not be scrapped but rather restructured.

The scheme should be reduced to six months.

But the mandatory one year (monthly) allowance must be maintained.

The scheme should be broken down into three phases.

Each phase should last just two months.

During this six months every corp member must enjoy his/her monthly allowance.

At the end of the six months every corp member should be disengaged and six months allowance paid in full to prepare them for live in the larger society.

Phase 1- Security Training

Every corp member should be made to undergo two months compulsory security/military training.

The most basic security/military training must be given to every Nigerian graduate.

This is what is obtainable in Israel and the Korea nations.

At the long run, the country will have a pool of youth already endowed with the basics in private and public defence mechanisms who can always and easily be called upon in terms of emergency.

Other nations have military reserves and these can serve the same purpose.

Phase 2 - Food security

For the purpose of food security , depending on the season of call up, all corp member should be engaged in one form of agriculture or the other for the next two months.

Every state as a matter of fact must provide land for farming, facilities for poultry, piggery, fishery etc.

Depending on the season, any batch that comes in, continues from where the last batch ended.

For example, if it is for cropping, if batch A does the planting , batch B or C does the tending, the harvesting and as well the marketing if need be.

Every state must provide silos for storage after harvesting.

The States should as well partner NYSC and NGOs with the procurement and provision of necessary preservation equipments like cold rooms, drying/heating equipments.

Mills should be built in areas where cereals and legumes are foremost.

Hatchery facilities should also be procured .

Phase 3 - National Orientation

This phase that will also last for two months, takes care of the inter cultural and inter religious relationships of the diverse tribes and religions that make up the country.

Here every corp member must be taught all they need to know about their host community, state and tribe.

This is where the seed of "ONE" Nigeria must be sowed.

Integration and assimilation should be the bed rock of this phase.

In my opinion , the era of one who read Literature in the the Higher Institution, having a god father in NNPC and consequently securing a job in NNPC will be a thing of the past.

A History graduate can no longer serve in CBN because he has an oga at top.

With this plan or restructure every corp member will be highly productive to the nation.

Not this idea of CDS, that doesn't have meaning.

To me this is a better way to go

I'm brought to tears whenever I see creative minds like ours stuck on NL. We should be at the helms of Nigeria's affairs captaining it with innovative policies and plans!

Yes! I could see how the 6 months plan could be beneficial to every single corper. I'd even suggest 9 months, 3 months each for the 3 phases cos some plants take some time to grow so the corpers can learn the full cycle.

The phase of national orientation, I'd suggest introducing serious classes on the language of that state. Some corpers leave states they're posted to without learning a single culture of that state. We MUST learn each other's language.

Don't tell me to get Resource Manager certificate when there are no jobs out there. Instead there's a hungry, unsecured and tribalistic population out there. Agriculture, Security and National Orientation must be top priority!

You seems not to know the meaning of being private citizen. The day an individual declared himself or acts in away that he or she could be called an activist or a politician or a leader in any way, he or she ceases to be a private citizen. Anything that puts one in public eyes makes one a public figure. One must not necessarily be a politician or occupying public office before he or she could be seen as a public figure. For example, public commentators are public figures too.
By many standard, that boy who call himself faz is not only a politician or activist, he has choose to be a leader in his own way and he must live like that. When you say what the government is doing is bad, it means you have a better way such doing can be done if it were you in the power.
My people have a saying which literally goes that, the Friday which will good, it's from Thursday you will know it.

An entire epistle of falsified info.

Unfortunately, you've made it all up just to make it seem like you too get brain. According to the constitution, Falz remains a private citizen. As long as he doesn't hold any official public office, he is a private citizen. Activism is not an official position.

See the kind of men we have these days. Truly men are scarce, all we have are nothing to write home about, it's either they are druggie, alcohol addicts, bet addicts, brothel addicts and others. If you are a man and do not indulge in any of these may God bless you abundantly , you are the real alpha male and kings every good woman desires. God bless you

When you say druggie, no be Tinubu be their role model. Your Lord.

Nice one our Jagaban.

I believe in you though, even though many Nigerians don't understand how this works.

How what works? 😂😂 His spokesperson didn't even mention a single organisation or even country Tinubu would be visiting. They keep leaving you guys in the dark to conclude that he means well without evidence.

You lots ruined it. Obi gan na 5/10 for my books but still, we Nigerians would have finally gotten a chance to have a president (Obi) that is accessible, a humble president that actually listens. No be all these sick selfish insatiable tin god presido.

Obi for be President and Datti Vice wey go try set down laws to make sure say corruption go be a thing of the past as he tried in Anambra. No be Governor wey dey increase him benefits and already high judiciary salary and call am ending corruption (Tinubu)

Good afternoon nairalanders
I always felt i wasn't addicted to betting but mehn
these past few months ,I have been dealt with severely by betting companies
my entire salary for the month of April went straight into the coffers of 1xbet
my April salary came in May (2nd) AND I didnt hesitate to deposite the entire sum of (#78,000) because i was chasing my loss
I had lost #80,000 the previous month (march).

I picked about three games to win #170,000 ,Almost came through if not for man united

my fury knew no bounds ,it was just as if i woke up every day by 5am and return home 7pm just to hussle money for the bookies

I bet because i have lots of expectations to meet ,I am the first son of 5 , clocked 29 in april
my salary isnt enough and all the side hustles aint paying .(surveys and co)
upwork and fiverr arent easy for nigerians.
delving into fraud isnt part of the plan,i'd rather die poor

this afternoon ,the small 4k i was supposed to use and transport for the week ,sportybet collected it.
for a moment i had suicidal thoughts (not suicidal per say ) but i am tired of the world ...for months now ,death doesnt even scare me
i see it as an end to the suffering (we all are gonna die anyways).

if you know of any legit paying side hustles or something someone can do..
and how does one stop betting

i would like for the FG to ban betting ,it is a killer but youths wont know it
though some people are gaining from it ,but it is pffffff

No dey make am be like say betting na the worst thing. You earn 78k, nothing bad if u budget N500 every weekend say u just won play high odds games. Trust me sometimes N100 on 1000 odds risky games sure pass that N78k on 10 odds game.

Even though the pressure is plenty, NEVER play what you can't afford to lose.

I wander why City loan out Cancelo sef

Guardiola's pride obviously grin grin. He thought Cancelo irrelevant with his new shape.

Fact just hold debruyne city is gone 💯

Another angle is allow Walker and Akanji (their most uncreative players) all the space in the world and nothing will happen.

Great analysis. Guardiola needs to go back to the drawing board else it will be another breakfast for them. He still has time though.
Yeah true but what to do? I don't see any City player that can turn it around. Cancelo would have ate in all that space that Akanji and Walker are wasting but I know Guardiola is the type of coach that knows exactly what to do in just 15 mins in Locker room so let's see.
