He revealed to me Tony himself and Standard Trust Bank were raking in billions from buying from CBN and selling through BDCs to ordinary citizens. The situation remained the same or even worse under Emefiele.

This is the best thing. There is no need having two different exchange rate. No matter what CBN does, as long as the average man can go to BDC and purchase dollar, there will always be disparity between official rate and black market.

What CBN need to do is to ensure that dollar is not in the hands of the citizens. Any one that needs dollar for importation, school or health should go and bank and bank will make the payment for them. All the local schools and organisations that transact in dollars should be discouraged. Some wealthy individuals will just use naira to buy dollars only to pile it up in their dorm accts. All these are part of what is making price of dollar skyrocket at the black market.

If CBN wants to achieve a little stability, they should starve the BDCs of dollar so that the average citizens cannot easily access it.

You have a point but it's difficult to implement. Everyone cannot go to bank to get dollars. Do banks even have sufficient forex to meet the demand of the people? Even in advanced countries, BDC exist but our import dependent economy is our major problem.

The +2.5% allows for a decent profit margin and the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports force transparency from the BDCs. This will increase forex flow and help protect the Naira from the speculative and destructive forex trading we’ve witnessed.

Godwin Emefiele trusted mortals in power and forgot that power is, in fact, ephemeral. He trusted human beings and forgot that humans are fickle and non-dependable.

He trusted Buhari as president. He visited him at short notice at the Villa and in Daura. They did 'high five' and posed for pictures smiling like playground mates. Emefiele didn't mind stepping on people's back to make Buhari happy. Targeting the hawks that Buhari despised, he changed the colours of Naira notes but the new notes are nowhere to be seen. When the Finance Minister kicked, Buhari defended him. He made banks broke the agelong culture of customers getting back their money on demand. Innocent people suffered and businesses floundered. Unfortunately, the same Buhari whom he loved to impress didn't seem to stand up for him when 'the shylock' came calling for a pound of his flesh.

Emefiele kowtowed before Northern oligarchs as though his life depended on that. Yes, they made sure his job was secured and it was but he served them like a slave. He flouted regulations and conventions to be in their good book. Unfortunately, the same oligarchs took cover in protection of their interests when the hawk came for the chick.

Worthy of note is that Emefiele refused to wise up when Buhari didn't stop DSS from attempting to arrest him when he was the president. That was a red flag that foretold his current situation but he refused to take notice. Perhaps he was too power-intoxicated or may be he was simply trapped in the corridors of power.

Used and dumped like a piece of trash at a lonely crossroad and with the people treating him like a smelly leper, Emefiele is surrounded by 'hyenas' warming up to devour him like a piece of soft flesh. Looking pale and hopeless, only God can save him from drowning in sorrows of being disappointed by the humans he trusted.

Now he will understand what it means to have freedom.

This is not so. The deposed president is from the minority tribe and those in support of the coup are from the majority tribe. Even if he's not popular, military takeover is not an option. We understand the country is passing through a lot of challenges and it requires a lot of strategic planning to fix the rot in the system, however, have you thought about the fact that most of the killings attributed to the fulani herdsmen while Buhari was in power will resume if any Fulani gets into power again. People are actually feeling a lot of pain now but this can not be solved overnight. All the Nigerian president have their share of the blame. Had it been Obasanjo during his eight years was able to revamp the power sector, things will not get messy as this. Yaradua also made mistake reversing the sale of the refineries, Jonathan too couldn't make any headway in fixing the power sector likewise Buhari, e be like say dem curse all these leaders to the the needful.

You're ignorant. There was no provision for subsidy in the 2023 budget effective July 2023. So it wasn't Tinubu that removed it but there was no provision for it.
