His statement is part of investigation likewise answers he would have to give to whatever is asked him as well as evidence of his innocence or guilt if he has any

Lol!! All you APC bigots always makes me laugh!! What made him a criminal.. all issues against him are purely alleged!! Which court pronounced him a criminal??

You guys always act like your headmaster!! Acting before thinking..
That is why he is being given opportunity to prove his innocence or otherwise before a court

Laying siege in front of Dino's house is not the right way to go! Do you know how many armed personnel/equipment were taken to Dino's place? This is the time that Nigerians want the NPF to go to Maiduguri to fight the Boko Haram menace that has ravaged the nation. Not fighting personal vendettas!
So Book haram look like riot to you. Police is to maintain law and other not to fight wars. Laying siege on his house isn't the right way, the right way would have been breaking down his door commando style and bringing him out, that is international best practice to arrest a hiding criminal.

What is the evil in inviting a suspect for interrogation. In fact they should have broken into the house cos that is what would have been done if Dino were a poor man. Y waste state resources laying siege on him?
PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye Fainted On The Floor After Eight-Day Siege by Baselm: 10:22pm On Jan 04, 2019
those of you supporting Dino,I hope you would say the same thing if your kinsman was the one shot by Dino's thugs. Dino has never denied the allegation even in proxy and he's also not ready to prove his innocence in a court of law instead he is acting up. I'm sure he wouldn't be granted bail cos he failed to show up in the court the other time he had a court date

Everyone is laughing right now at Dino!! But the truth is that we are under an authoritalian system of government!!

Mr president who called himself a saint is using every tool available to him to intimidate and frustrate the opposition and everyone thinks it’s okay!

He has turned Nigeria to a private property enriching his family and friends, he has breached almost every laws of the land and everyone thinks it’s okay! This is a far cry of what Nigerians deserve..
I hope you would say the same thing if your kinsman was the one shot by Dino's thugs. Dino has never denied the allegation even in proxy and he's also not ready to prove his innocence in a court of law.

PoliticsRe: Despite Fight, Corruption Still Thrives In Nigeria, NBS Says by Baselm: 7:29pm On Jan 03, 2019
Can any government stop Nigerians from demanding bribe? Even if you don't demand, they will give willingly as it was stated in the statistics. The corruption that affects the masses most is the diversion of public funds into private pockets. Giving and taking of bribe has become a cultural thing in this country and fighting that type of corruption will leave nobody else on the streets of Nigeria.

Ojukwu could raise an army because Easterners were filled with anger over the pogroms and felt the way to sort that was to establish their homeland as an independent country - they had a cause. Let's say you people are right that Nzeogwu was the Jack Bauer of the desert. Explain how he could have raised an army in the north.
Nzeogwu was not fighting a regional war like Ojukwu, even Northerners followed him to kill the Sardauna, he was loved within the rank and file of the army including the officers. He was fighting against the terrible government and he has successfully captured Northern Nigeria and even Northern top ranking officials have pledged their allegiances after he stated his cause. The coup was initially celebrated across Nigeria until Ironsi and co bleeped up. He already took control of Kaduna, including the newly formed Nigerian air force, so technically he had more military force than Ironsi had in the south.
PoliticsRe: General Ironsi And Lt Colonel Fajuyi The Day Before They Were Killed (Photo) by Baselm: 7:14pm On Dec 31, 2018
JuanDeDios:
No, you overestimate him. Ironsi simply didn't want further bloodshed. That was his mistake - he thought he could stop bloodshed by letting people get away with murder. But Nzeogwu would not have won even if he had succeeded in raising an army in the north - which he could NOT have done.
He has more chances of winning than Ojukwu did, yet Ojukwu engaged. Ure grossly underestimating Nzeogwu.

wow! You read much about the coup. I learnt that Akintola even engaged them with rifle and Sardauna's guards did same. Sardauna's fence was brought down by Nseogwu himself with a Carl Gustav gun and he sustained injuries in the process.
Your account is very correct.

I wouldn't pay whoever did this shoddy job if I was Atiku or whoever contracted him

How did Ironsi exhibit tribalism?

Ojukwu claimed that Nzeogwu and ifeajuna were making contacts with the Nigerian government. He claimed they planned to execute a coup in the Biafran territory, kill him and surrender to the Nigerian government.
I like the fact u used the word claimed.
Nzeogwu died on one of his raids on the Federal troops when Ojukwu didn't give such a man a troop to lead.
It was Ifeanjuwa and Brigadier Banjo that were killed by Ojukwu on allegations of those claims.

Even if the allegations were true, was it not better Ojukwu was killed and they hand over to the federal troops rather than the thousands of lives wasted before Ojukwu fled and hand over.

It only shows who amongst them was tribal and who was a more tactical soldier.
PoliticsRe: General Ironsi And Lt Colonel Fajuyi The Day Before They Were Killed (Photo) by Baselm: 5:33pm On Dec 31, 2018
It was the action of Ironsi and other reactionists like Ojukwu who benefitted from the coup of the revolutionists (Ademoyega, Nzeogwu, Ifeanjuna, Onwuategu, Okafor and co) that made Nigerians term the First coup a tribal coup. Those guys planned everything, in fact they ensured there were no civilian casualties, Most of the politicians and officers killed were those who resisted arrest and later when they had to flee, they had to kill others as most of those Officers arrested are highly skilled and could take advantage of the situation.
The coup was largely celebrated as at then cos the country especially the western region was in tension. It was the tribalism exhibited by Ironsi that made people start reading tribalism in the coup.

To show they had a different outlook to Ojukwu, despite serving under the biafran army which granted them pardon, Nzeogwu was not given a command, Ifeanjuna was killed by Ojukwu, Ademoyega was released but wasn't supported in his bid to capture the mid western region and proceed to the western region, Ojukwu was only interested in the Eastern region, He was subsequently returned to prison after less than 2 months by Ojukwu.

Please you all should correct the wrong impression.
prime minister and all the regional premiers as well as other top government people including chief of defense Ironsi, were to be arrested. Those killed(Sardauna and Akintola resisted arrest by fighting back, Others like okoti eboh, Tafawa were killed after Ironsi had regained the command of troops by ).

What have you been smoking?

Nzeogwu"s coup was aborted by Ironsi so how would the issue of installing Awolowo have featured in the scheme of things?

Go and read your kindergarten children books, this kid...
Those guys are revolutionists, not reactionists, so they had planned everything before embarking on the coup, Awolowo was to be released that day but the captain supposed to go and effect his release, didn't turn up according to Ademoyega's record.

Nzeogwu claimed they were going to install/hand over to awolowo after some time.
Yes, in fact the young captain that was to fly in a special plane to effect the release of Awolowo on the D-Day didn't report. Awolowo, would have been released on the day of the coup

Fayose surrendered himself to EFCC, he was Interrogated and released. The last time Dino had a court case he went missing, the other time he was arrested, he jumped offa truck and had to be handcuffed to a sick bed. A sane national assembly should have that guy suspended for being a national embarrassment

Murtala was assassinated on the road,
Abacha was murdered as strong as he is
Buhari went to mecah n was overthrown by Ibb n Wen he returned he was imprisoned.
Those are more gallant way to be overthrown. Not just people walking in and walking out with the head of state, going on to flog him to death.it shows a country with a weak defense

The northern oligarchy became powerful because the NPC was ruling the country, right? Yet, the NPC was only able to form a government because the NCNC agreed to a coalition. Whose fault was it that the NCNC did not wrest sufficient concessions from their coalition partners such that a northernisation of national institutions was taking place under their nose?

We were not headed towards a civil war and the sort of corruption you had then was nothing compared to what you have now. And why the barbaric murders - why didn't they simply lock up the politicians?

When you advocate a revolution, you're TRUSTING those who will carry out the revolution to be any better or that the revolution will not be hijacked by people with a separate agenda like it happened in Iran. Goodluck with that. But you saw what military rule did to Nigeria. Ghana improved because Rawlings was sincere - he could have set the country on a part to improvement like he did without the killings. After all, Samuel Doe killed people in a similar fashion in Liberia and we know the result. You think the Arabs are less bigoted than us?
Only those who resisted arrest were murdered( Sardauna and Akintola), some were also murdered when the coup failed and Ademoyega and Ifeanjuwa were trying to escape , they wouldn't make it with those prisoners. You will hardly hear of any civilian casualty, even the likes of Fani Kayode were released, but u can't just release a military prisoner of war at a time u are volatile.

My brother I know he didn't listen to Ojukwu advice but he is not a coward. Remember that the capital then was Lagos. N he can't leave Lagos. If call him a coward, what of gowon he was removed by cue, murtala was murdered, what of buhari he was removed by cue, shagari nko are they all cowards?
They walked in, picked Ironsi, drove him away and flogged him to death. Is that how a head of state should be overthrown, it shows how weak the structure was under him, he was just having a swell time as head of state, he doesn't even know what to do. If he wasn't listening to Ojukwu, then who was he listening to? Ojukwu was his right hand man.
That was the same way Ojukwu didn't prepare for the civil war before starting and was using civilians as a wall, till he eventually ran away cowardly.

I agree with the bolded - he was a professional soldier, not an IT politician. As to your call for a revolution, be careful what you wish for. If you're wondering what I mean, take a pencil and write down every country that went through are violent revolution, including the Arab Spring and reflect on where it got them.

The problem was the first coup. The soldiers should have let the politicians commit their blunders and we would have emerged out of it. Maybe things won't have improved but they certainly won't have got as bad it turned out with the soldiers.
There was no politics at play, it was just a rule of the Northern Oligarchy, Census was canceled and rigged, Western Nigeria was already on fire with Awolowo(opposition leader in the federal parliament) imprisoned. If they hadn't intervened, we would be in a far worse situation than we are now. I only wish they had succeeded.

Arabs and their Islamic revolutions is not to be used as an example. those guys are bigots. Jk. Rawlings kinda revolution is more apt.

You seriously believe Nzeogwu and co could have thrived in the north after killing the Sardauna who was considered a god by northern folk? No, they won't. If that was Ironsi's thinking, he erred. And sold out the country the way our leaders are doing today by releasing Boko Haram commanders and paying the terrorists millions of dollars. What you do is declare Nzeogwu and co wanted and send the troops after them like it was done with Dimka. They were in the north, but that did not mean that soldiers stationed in the north were with them.
were they captured in the North?were they fugitives in the North? Who was in control of the Northern army?most of those soldiers don't know what to make of the alien situation, they simply do as they are told. if they are to make a choice between Nzeogwu and Ironsi, we know who will win. Nzeogwu ceremoniously left Kaduna for Lagos to form part of the unity government. Alas Ironsi wasn't a man of his words.

Almost all that came out of this episode alive gained something. Danjuma became a billionaire, Bello and even his son , became a governor, Ironsi's son Thomas was given an appointment by Obj, whilst Ironsi' ADC, Nwankwo, we're told became a senator later.

Hmm,

Pray what happened to the family of the gallant Adekunle Fajuyi who paid the ultimate sacrifice for loyalty.

Never heard that any of his children later went on to become anything.
That is what Obasanjo does, he's so self centered and egocentric, he could have helped his family, the same way he could have immortalized MKO despite being the biggest beneficiary of MKO's fight for democracy

You don't do it. Ironsi was knaive not to have seen what was coming. The fact that Danjuma got away with murdering the head of state and went on to prosper with his blood-soaked hands is a part of our tragedy as a nation.
They killed the prime minister, Yes. but they have a leverage( the whole of Northern Nigeria which is bigger than southern Nigeria) and handed themselves over to Aguiyi, they weren't captured. They could have started a civil war at the expense of civilian lives which they have more resources and tactical heads to win than Ojukwu who did the same
PoliticsRe: General Ironsi And Lt Colonel Fajuyi The Day Before They Were Killed (Photo) by Baselm: 2:33pm On Dec 31, 2018

You've been reading Danjuma chapter 1 verse 1. Stop believing lies. Aguiyi-Ironsi was cited for bravery in Congo among other places.
U might be a brave soldier and know nothing about governance, coupled with the fact he wasn't prepared for governance, he was just a reactionist who benefitted from the heroics of the revolutionists.

We need men like Nzeogwu, Ademoyega and Ifeanjuwa again to start another revolution in this country, but they must complete the revolution this time, not surrender to some opportunistic reactionists.
PoliticsRe: General Ironsi And Lt Colonel Fajuyi The Day Before They Were Killed (Photo) by Baselm: 2:28pm On Dec 31, 2018

You mean knaive. He was. But his real mistake was letting those who murdered the prime minister get away with it. That was wrong. He should have had them swiftly tried and executed and there would have been no counter-coup.
Were the likes of TY Danjuma who plotted the counter coup even imprisoned? They lived, died and some still lives freemen. Most of the 1966 coup plotters died in prison or during the civil war.

Ironsi promised that they would be pardoned and form part of his government as conditions for Nzeogwu's surrender of Northern Nigeria, he even had the air force as it was only in Northern Nigeria, he saved Nigeria from a civil war by surrendering because he would have won.
