Even though this is unfair, the irony is rather very funny. The imans were were "headed to North Carolina for a conference on prejudice against Muslims" and experienced the subject of their conference first hand. Oh the irony. cheesy

Politics › Re: Ohakim Congratulates Self: by Bawss1(m): 8:07pm On May 07, 2011
Even though I am not from Imo state I feel very pleased that Ohakim is no longer governor there. That is one individual that will hardly be missed. I hope that Rochas who replaces him will be a much better leader than that fake DSTV fronting, project photo-shopping and newspaper falsifying no good governor. He had better start packing his bags and hitting the highway.

because there is no other choice.you need to call and no i never seen any nigerian speak on the phone for 10 mins in a go talk less of  1 hour.so where is the excess here?
You certainly have not met many Nigerians if so. If anything talking excessively on the phone these days should be checked by the government cheesy

Countries like the UK can have very cheap call rates because they have a much more developed telecommunications infrastructure.
I don't think the cost of making phone calls in this country is exorbitant. Many of the telcos are bending over backwards trying outdo each other with cheaper call rates. It is the markets that will bring down the call costs not government interference. Besides you can't just kick out telcos and bring in new ones because they refused to reduce their costs. It doesn't work that way. The new coys will need to start building their networks from scratch, abi do you want them to inherit the networks of their predecessors?

If there is anything that needs to be addressed it is the quality of service. Also a road map for real nationwide broadband penetration should be put up by say the NCC. Those are areas that need addressing by the government ASAP
Family › Re: Whose Name Should Come First On The Wedding Invitations? by Bawss1(m): 2:00pm On May 07, 2011
Firstly I think that the person's name that comes first or second is completely inconsequential. Nothing could be more trivial than that. Secondly there is no social rule that dictates this occurrence. I don't even think westerners have a set way of doing this (see the picture of the wedding IV I posted earlier). However many female posters here say that the lady's name should come first  because its a long standing practice and not because of any other logical reason - an observation by Princek12 which I agree with. The ladies want their names to come first? Fine let it be so. To fuss over this is completely unnecessary.

Highlighted below are Princek12 lines that I think are excellently said.

Princek12:
As usual, a substantial majority of women will advocate in favor of following a long-standing practice when it suits or benefits them. Many women here are saying that the woman's name should come first because of its long-standing practice, not because of any other logical reason.

However, when these same women are confronted with another scenario in which men advocate for the continuance of a behavior because of its long-standing practice, these same women will revolt and say that such practice should change if such practice does not benefit them. This is feminist mentality to say the least, always cherry-picking when you want to be treated like a lady--obviously when it benefits women.

I don't think I have personally noticed a pattern of whose name comes first on the invitation, probably because I am not cognizant of such things, but I think whatever the long-standing practice is should control here. Presumably, it had been done that way for good reasons, not for malicious or invidiously discriminatory reasons.

Its the bride's name and her family's that come first.
Men sef!
Says who? There is no fast rule that says whose names comes first second or third. This is how we encourage the dominance of trivialities, things that have no real bearing on the importance of the occasion.
Foreign Affairs › Re: America Refer To Osama Bin Laden, A Hero. Proof of Conspiracy INSIDE by Bawss1(m): 9:28am On May 07, 2011
A political stunt eh? And yet Al Qaeda has admitted that its leader has indeed been killed?

There is nothing wrong with announcing the death of Osama, his elimination is indeed a remarkable milestone in the fight against terror. The decision to withhold his own pictures is understandable just as the decision to bury his remains at sea. Again it does not help the US' interests in indulging doubters. Besides what is to be gained if every whim of doubters is met? Come on dude.

No body questioned the video and pictures of Saddam when he was killed, so quit that line you're trying to tow, show us videos and pictures, are these request too hard?
The United States is not going to risk the lives of its soldiers and troops who are in the middle east in order to satisfy the doubters. There is a suspected spike in reprisal attacks that will result if the photos in question are made public. A similar trend was experienced when pictures of the Abu Ghraib photos were released so there is no need to risk lives in order to satisfy doubters who, trust me, will quickly find another reason to feed their theories.

There is no stopping such people. They will always find new material to fuel their conspiracy theories. Show them a picture and they will claim it is doctored. If you provide them with hard evidence they will claim it is fake.  The gains of leaving this killing as it is far outweighs the risk involved in satisfying the doubters. Let them be left alone to continue telling their tales of warped fantasy to willing listeners. The excitement it brings them will gradually inflate them like a balloon till their minds can hold no more theories and will eventually implode under the pressure of such dross.
Family › Re: I Am 30. Should I Marry Him by Bawss1(m): 3:46pm On May 06, 2011
Marriage is a union that has far reaching consequences. It should not be entered into unless both parties are fully aware of the stakes and are united in their quest for spiritual development. The requirements for any marriage to be a success include (but are not limited)  love, respect, and trust. With this understanding in mind one can get a glimpse of the seriousness of this institution and realize that entering into it on account of a baby or pregnancy or age is a very wrong move. To do so will be to cave in to societal pressure at the expense of true happiness and a defeat of the real purpose of marriage.

In plain words - get married for the right reasons, a baby isn't one of them.

Blasphemy! Sacrilege!

How can this stand? How can anyone dare to type such words? Do you want to be struck down by the goddess of Calabar cuisine? Do you not know that from state to state it is undisputed knowledge that Calabar women hold the title for the highest prowess displayed in the kitchen and bedroom. There are hundreds of hearts that have been won from tasting the delicious regimen of Calabar cooking. Marriages have been made and broken because of Calabar food. Such culinary renown is not unconnected to the fact that the women from that region are naturally equipped to see to the thorough satisfaction of their diners. . . in fact were one to delve into details of personal tales of delight of such  culinary (and post culinary) experiences, there might be an up shoot of blood pressure from readers here.

Let no one dare to breath such words of blasphemy;there can never be an over-hyping of Calabar food!
