Anyone following the last elections online would have said that Buhari was a sure winner, even here on Nairaland the polls showed him to be ahead but at the end, in real life, GEJ emerged as the winner. I think history is about to repeat itself again; Buhari's supporters are in every online nook and cranny, shouts of Sai Buhari are on all NL threads, the rhetoric is everywhere... but I've since come to learn that cyberspace and real life are two different realities, the prize might elude Buhari again. He must surely suspect this too. |
The presidency must be living in a parallel universe where oil prices are above $200/barrel. These guys are oblivious of the realities that the country faces. |
rman:The strategic advisor for a certain defense company here in Abuja is paid a little over a million dollars. That's well over N10m after conversion and that's a non CEO position. I'd say same occurs in those Telecoms and O&G firms for top executive positions where pay is linked to a percentage of company profits. I do not have any details as to what the exact roles are so my comment is largely anecdotal. I cannot state the one O&G company where I am privy to the renumeration package of one of its key staff but after coming across that info and the one for the defense coy, I quickly since did away with the assumption that nobody here in Nigeria earns > N10m/month. |
rman:Nobody earns N10m working for an oil coy except CEOs. LOL! Your statement smacks of underestimation. True such pay packages like that are not wide spread but they certainly exist and it's not just in the oil sector. Telecoms, finance and even a couple of Nigerian based defence organisations have positions asides that of their CEO that pay that much. |
OP should spell words properly. This fad to spell words like a dyslexic is insane. |
Beautiful piece. Buhari and his supporters keep chanting anti corruption everywhere but they have not offered us an explanation on how they intend to achieve this. Up till now Buhari has yet to tell us how he intends to work on the Nigerian economy, how he intends to create jobs, how he intends to provide reliable electricity supply, how he intends to deal with Boko haram... Nothing up till now, yet he wants me to support him? Negro please. It is worth repeating that this is how Jonathan structured his campaign back in 2011, back then it was the "I had no shoes" theme and many Nigerians fell for that, now Buhari is running his "I'm-so-honest-I-borrowed-money-for-everything" campaign. Personally I don't care if Buhari eats once a day because of integrity all I need to know is what exactly he plans to do to turn this nation around, all these anti corruption chants don't explain jack! |
Good. Now can attention be focused on how these would be leaders (and the incumbents) plan to deal with the issues that we all face as a nation? It appears both the PDP and the APC are only interested in the personalities of their candidates, no mention is made about how they intend to tackle insecurity, economic development, power/electricity supply and the many other critical areas of our national life. And no, shouting anti corruption everywhere like the APC is doing doesn't count as addressing these critical issues. |
The DSS obviously has a lot of free time for it to concern itself with this union strike. Has the boko haram insurgency in the north been dealth with completely? |
^ Schoolboy Q's Oxymoron has several hits like Man of The Year, Collared Greens (ft Kendrick Lemar) and Yay Yay. I also like What They Want (ft 2 Chains) F--- LA and Hell of a Night. I think it's a great rap album and it's certainly my album of the year. |
Janet101:Great. I want 500K, I'll pay you back after the new yam festival. Thanks. |
AKMoney1:I thought Sahara Reporters was mainly anti PDP. |
APC now has the added task of selling an unknown candidate to Nigerians. This is one of those plans that look good on paper but not so good in real life. Victory at the 2015 polls just got harder for APC. |
Gotham returns on the 5th of January 2015. Y'all better chill till then. |
Before long the conspiracists and jihadists will take over this thread and choke off any chance of sane and reasonable discourse. Just you watch. |
major466:Jihadist alert !!!! |
aimuan:Why do supporters of Buhari have to lie like this? Buhari did not pay off Nigeria's debt! Stop manufacturing lies, they can easily be disproven. |
sanmibukunmi:Where do you live? I need to know so I can send you a bottle of coke. You have aptly described what I have been saying on this forum. We are all engrossed with things that have no bearing with the issues at stake and are ignoring the important things. |
oyb:There has to be a good reason for the 'lifting'. maybe he totally forgot to include the source. ![]() Ray. Don't let judgement be passed in your absence, defend yourself. I suggest you demand trial by combat! ![]() I will be your champion. ![]() |
^ I know right. When I first came across Breaking Bad in 2008 I thought it was going to be some kind of comedy as I used to watch Malcom in the Middle and was used to Bryan Cranston, Malcom's dad, as a bumbling actor. Was I in for a surprise or what? It did turn out to be one of the best shows I watched on tv though. |
The OP with a few exceptions articulates my position perfectly! How can anything good come from Evil vs Useless? |
He is never comfortable without cows? ![]() |
All this Sai Buhari will end here on Nairaland. It happened before it will happen again. |
Buhari + Anybody = Loss in 2015 election. Simple |
Are we about to have some in house drama on this thread? Oh goodie... ![]() Ray. You stand accused of comment-plagiarism. Defend yourself. ![]() |
datribune:What do you mean Buhari brought back Nigeria's economy? That's a verbose claim and anybody can make it. What did he do to improve Nigeria's economy? The only people who will fall for that line are the unlettered children in the villages. Abeg talk another thing. Which American president was once a dictator?! You are doing a disservice to Buhari's campaign by presenting these untruths! What is without dispute is that Buhari was once a dictator, all the high sounding but empty talk cannot undo that. |
datribune:It's always amusing how we tend to recolor history to suit our purpose. Everyone who was involved in a military coup d'etat will say their effort was a patriotic gesture of rescue, a selfless salvage mission and what not. The fact is a coup d'état will always remain that - a forceful takeover of government. They will not want to mention that it's a power grab plain and simple. There is no way we can reconcile that with democratic principles and this shadow will forever loom against Buhari's campaign. Aside from putting aside his army fatigue how can Buhari prove that he is a democrat, one who is willing to consider the views and aspirations of others that are not in line with his? It's also funny that you say he is a tried an tested leader. So in the ~18 months that his dictatorship lasted you were able to gleen that he is the best man suited for leading this country forward come 2015. Lol! It's only in Nigeria that a dictator can become a democrat overnight. |
hazyfm:You obviously are under the halo effect. It is the halo effect that makes the baker think that he can run a successful bakery with just baking skills or a chef that thinks his cooking is all that is required to run a successful restaurant. For one to be successful in a specific role one must have developed the skill set that will be used in that particular role. Raising a good family while commendable in itself is not a criteria for successfully leading a country. The family is not a democracy, the parents decisions are final, children don't get to decide which instructions of their parents they will follow. Saying that Buhari raised good children therefore we should vote for him won't stand. What we want to know are his traits as a leader and as an individual, his plans for steering this nation to greatness and so forth. If anyone thinks that their record as a parent (no offence to all the good parents out there)is a prerequisite for leadership positions let them go and open a school and lead there. |
datribune:Man of integrity indeed. The fact that he lead that coup d'état signifies that he doesn't not believe in the democratic principles or system. In other words he can choose to disregard the laws of the land to achieve his own goals. Besides it wasn't as though his regime was characterised by fairness and justice, reports abound of him stifling the press, involving in human rights abuses and questionable economic policies. All of a sudden in this democratic dispensation we are suppose to see in him a messiah that will move this country forward? As I said earlier the fact that he was an ex dictator is a very big stigma to get rid of. It speaks volumes against him as a leader. At the end of the day we as nation should be ashamed that the only other option for us to choose a leader asides the uninspiring GEJ is a recycled dictator. |
hazyfm:What does well trained children have to do with anything? Can we please have a campaign of solid ideas and mandates and not all this sentimental rubbish that have no place in government. |
Even if somebody from the heavenly host is chosen as Buhari's running mate they will still be a hard sell. Buhari is a former dictator, one who saw it fit to wrest power from a democratically elected government. That is a very big stigma to wash off and it will continnue to be the cause of his downfall no matter how dazzling his rhetoric might sound. Anyone who spearheaded a forceful takeover shouldn't be allowed to lead in a democracy. |
chamboy:You will find all the answers to your question about the refineries on this Nairaland thread https://www.nairaland.com/1950074/notice-buhari-never-built-single Re: my question earlier, will Buhari go after his sponsors that are said to have gotten wealth from dubious means? I hope thats clearer. |
All this Sai Buhari will end here on Nairaland. When reality hits his supporters will go cry that they have been marginalised. Buhari is a relic from an age long past. |

Instead of building campaigns on Ideas and Debates we are using Life stories....Nigeria is not Ready for change.
