Cat and Rat? I must say that is a rather unoriginal title and its pedestrian too. |
For creating the never-dying iPhone Killer Apps thread, the ever expanding Nokia Lumia 920 thread and demonstrating a solid understanding of the mobile phone industry(even though he earns his living in an unrelated sector) I nominate. . . (drumroll) Texazzpete ![]() |
The unquestioned assumption behind the premise of this thread is that The pronouncements of Paul = The voice of the Almighty |
That's still a fat rumor. The development name for Sony's next gen console was widely known as Orbis. Either way it's just a development name, upon completion the names usually change. |
^ The Pebble Gifts would have been a lovely idea except they had to mess up the experience with their badly designed website. Can't find my way about the site properly |
And I used to think I was the only one thoroughly disgusted by that question! It's not easily explained but that question is highly inappropriate, its not fitting for colleagues, acquaintances and certain types of friends to ask. A wise Teacher once taught that certain boundaries must be put in place if one is to deal correctly with his fellow men, these boundaries exist, amongst other forms, in the titles we use when addressing others and the degree of familiarity that those titles suggest. . . and I suspect, not sure though, that this question is a breach of one such boundaries. |
I'm not a big fan of Nigerian music but I'm sure similar complaints like this were raised in the 80s and 70s when many of the artists listed by OP were still in their heydays. Right now I consider music from the 90s when I was a teenager to be classic - the melody and rhythm of hip hop tracks from that era seem golden to me now but at that time they drew sharp criticism from my elders. The same cycle is repeating itself today, older people will find contemporary music unpleasant. Aside this observation there is no doubt that over the years there has a been a rapid decline in the moral value and content of music. This decline did not start with contemporary music, it has been there since the 60s and has just been increasingly coming to prominence. Even the music greats like Elvis, Barry White, Bob Marley etc, which many people admire had raunchy works too. |
For someone who just moved into a new town his/her first order of business should be to get his/her own place ASAP. Seriously the time it takes to quickly get one's own place should be long enough. This is how it should be even if one is on very good terms with the host, anything more just gives room for resentment and contempt to creep in and soil the relationship. However some situations may arise where the guest is not able to get his own place quickly, he should then take up some meaningful responsibility in that household that will make things somewhat better for his hosts, maybe cleaning or helping with the groceries or some other stuff. He should not assume (maybe because his hosts don't say anything) that his presence is not a burden and so should make concerted efforts to reduce the "footprints" of his stay. I have written all this because I realize that many Nigerians don't take these kinds of things into consideration. They just move in and make life difficult for their host. I'm sick of friends telling me they need a place to stay for a week then before you know 3 months have gone by and the friend is constantly raiding your fridge without replenishing, moving your stuff around, leaving dirty laundry about and basically trying to make your once pristine home into a hog pen that any herd of pigs would envy. |
^For real. The campaign is nicely done with a very interesting storyline (Menendez, Sgt Woods et al) Zombies has been reworked, made juicer with the open world Tranzit and multiplayer is still the ish. The word that easily comes to mind when describing the game is sweet. Sweet. Sweet. Thank you Treyarch for giving me a reason to rush home quickly after work. |
Nokia FTW! |
Fact: Having a child certainly changes everything. Everyone's choice, to have or not to have children should be respected. |
chinedumo: where did u download it?Didn't download it, paid 13K to buy a copy for my PS3. |

Not a sauna air. Now Jan ate all my cooked Dansani cuz I'm a heir. Kapeesh a key though Johnie wasn't there in the sauna air. Cool on sauna air. Adam there was, Saddam said oh woah. Couldn't no hey could I borrow, hey Now listen to Gangnam style and read the above paragraph again for it to make sense. ![]() |
Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Just when I thought I had seen it all Treyarch puts up a surprisingly good effort with this offering. Sweet. |
Another gripe thread. Yawn. |
Oh OK, I assumed that the charging plate was included upon purchase. Sometimes its a good thing to avoid the front page, that way the thread stays clear of them riffraff trolls who are up to no good. |
^ I'm a little confused, is the wireless charging plate a separate accessory? Does it not come in the box when you buy the 920? ![]() |
samir101ng: Samsung Galaxy Note II N99,000 & Samsung Galaxy SIII N87,999 (www.). Both devices come with Android OS. Now, with the asking price of N105,000 on the Nokia Lumia 920 and which won't be in stores till Dec and only to MTN subscribers, Nokia is making a HUGE mistake to say the least in marketing the Nokia Lumia 920. Windows Phone 8 is still an emerging platform needing more time to mature. The lower price point will have been an added advantage to attract new customers to the platform. The Android OS is a mature platform and will serve as an alternative in my opinion.I'll start off by saying that I wish the price were cheaper too but I don't think selling the 920 at 105K is a huge mistake. The price you quoted for the Samsung GSIII is its current price after over 6 months in the market! It is safe to assume that in the near future the price for the Lumia 920 will fall into the 90-99K neighborhood. This is Nokia's flagship after all and it's still way cheaper than the iPhone 5 which starts out at ~180K. There are other models from Nokia which will cater for the those with a lower budget. |
Lord_Reed: MTN says it is not going to be sim locked, all they have is a 3 month exclusive sale deal with Nokia. So one can buy the phone from MTN then use on the Etisalat network? |
I read the link in the first post. The phones are available on MTN for the next 3 months. |
@OP We've read tons of reviews on the 920 but I'm still curious, what were your real expectations? Some reviewers said it was too heavy (obviously an Apple biased reviewer ) did it feel that way? |
Hmmm. I wonder what he does for a living. |
N105K. Hmmm. Not an unreasonable price but it makes no sense to lock the phone to MTN. |
Will an Igbo man ever be sultan of Sokoto? |
supereagle: The Permanent Secretary noted that “it is also from the budget of N1.305 billion that we take care of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) which holds every Wednesday.”Tell members of the FEC to pack their own lunches. No more wasting of taxpayers money on an overfed bunch. |
Yeah yeah yeah. What will be the speeds at the customers end? All those numbers they mention are useless if they aren't significantly moved to the customers premises. Besides I find it somewhat suspect that it is usually somebody from marketing that makes these kinds of pronouncements. Many times they are quick to market a feature that they haven't technically sorted out first. |
DArkWhiteSoul obviously hasn't seen the legion of features that make the 920 just as good as the iPhone if not it's killer. The iPhone being American is an absolutely mute point. Start reading this thread from the first page to understand what we are talking about. Anyways on to other issues, if the speculation that the 920 will sell for >N100K is true then how does that help Nokia by offering it exclusively on MTN? I still don't get it. |
Okija_juju: I dont support this rubbish.. DSTV is a luxury not a necessity.. If a man cant afford Cable TV, then he should watch NTA.. [/b]+100 |
Misplaced priorities. CPC will not focus on industries that offer vital or sensitive services, like aviation and downstream petroleum, to Nigerians instead its TV?! There is also the fact that what they are requesting may be unfeasible. |
wkid: Any one playing Black Ops II yet? The game grossed over $500 million in 24 Hrs making it the highest entertainment launch ever thereby beating the previous record set by MW3. Reviews have been great also. I can't wait to get my hands on it.Got mine over the weekend and jumped straight to the zombies mode. Will visit the campaign and multiplayer much later, zombies was why I got this game in the first place. The two different submodes, Grief and Survival are definitely not straight forward but still provide that familiar thrill. . .now if only work will allow me more time Meanwhile na wa for Activision, every year despite the usual complaints that it’s just a regular iteration they keep breaking sales records with COD. $500 million on launch day? Damn! |
What's all this MTN exclusive nonsense? My plan was to get the 920 for my Etislat line. If its locked to MTN then it better be subsidised. Na wa o. ![]() |
Missy_B: Thanks a lot for eventually getting back to me. |
