The two most boko haram infested states, Borno and Yobe are ANPP states, so God alone knows who you are trying to decieve.
Everybody knows that Maiduguri (the capital of Borno) is boko harams capital, so please weave another long tale.

zameen: I've read quiet a number of comments here refering to Nigeria programmers as 'not-up-standard'. My concern now is, as an average Engineering student and a prospective programmer, are online tutorials enough for me to become a qualified programmer?
No, they are not. Knowledge is all they would give you, but you need an intense level of discipline and adherence to methodology to start you on the right track.
By all means, get your online tutorials. But as soon as you've learnt to walk, get involved in an open source programme (preferrably based in the developed World); the bigger, the better. It will expose you to a lot of standards, approaches and procedures.
That way, you can begin to develop a feel for what proper software development is all about.

Good luck, bro.
Politics › Re: When Will Nigerian Leaders Be Free From Corruption And Grow The Economy? by Beaf: 5:54am On Jul 08, 2012
There is no need for us to pine and wonder about our tomorrow.
Our LG bosses live right next door to us. We know their kids and where they live.

Are they accountable to you?
Do they fulfill the purpose for which they were voted in?
Can they account for every last kobo spent in your community?
Have they built firms that will industrialise your LG and make it pay its way in Nigeria, rather than exist with the ignominy of a perpetual awuf collector thats in worse shape than a truly wrecked invalid?

Today, the guy is an unaccountable LG boss, tomorrow they will become and unaccountable rep, then and unaccountable governor, senator or president.
Who will we blame, but ourselves for not demanding accountability, delivery and development when we had the opportunity at local level, before the beast grew into a monster? No one, but ourselves.

Burn their phucking houses down today. cool

Those talking about boko haram being a PDP thing are either being a bit foolish, naive or mischievious.
Boko haram started with ANPP and was embraced across all political parties in the core-North as a political weapon to install a core-Northern elite friendly govt, after GEJ broke the back of PDP's rotation. Buhari, Ribadu etc all bought into the wider "North" politics of 2011 even though they are not PDP members.

As Naptu has said, lets stop giving quinine to a typhoid patient. Nuff said. cool

naptu2: I've said this before and I'll say it again, we need to be wary of wrong diagnosis. If a man has typhoid and you administer malaria treatment on him, he could die before you know what's going on.

Boko Haram has splintered into many factions. You have the political element (thugs used by politicians to carry out their dirty deeds), you have the common criminals, you have the Yusuf faction and you have the Al-Qaeda faction.

To be fair, Shehu Sanni may mean well, but his claims are exaggerated. He may be in touch with one faction, but it is certainly not the Al-Qaeda faction, which is the most dangerous faction.

The Al-Qaeda faction is not interested in negotiation. They did not spring up because of President Jonathan, neither are they interested in petty politics. They have just one aim, which is to spread their brand of Islam across Nigeria.

Let me make this clear, they are not just interested in taking over Northern Nigeria, they want to take over the whole country and then spread across West Africa and they will kill anyone who opposes them, including Buhari, the Sultan, Babangida or whoever.

The sooner we put aside our differences and realise that Boko Haram is a threat to all Nigerians, the better for us.

We need to reactivate Ecomog and incorporate Cameroun into the group. We need to have troops in Niger, Chad and northern Cameroun, to prevent those places being used as safe havens by Al-Qaeda affiliated groups. The NIA must be more active. Why haven't they arrested the former Mauritanian president that is backing Boko Haram? We need NIA agents across West Africa to monitor and deal with Boko Haram sympathisers.

If we keep going on about our domestic problems and are not united in confronting this problem, then we might just be administering quinine to a typhoid patient and you know what the result will be.
Earlier today, I was thinking the exact same thing as the second bolded. We need to expand our military and its capabilities very quickly; we should be capable of carrying out bombing runs in places like Mali, Mauritania, throughout W.Africa and Central Africa. We should be capable of projecting force into N.Africa and taking on any recalcitrant enemies of Nigeria in those states.

It is all well and good that we now build our own armoured personel carriers, bullet proof vests, rifles, patrol boats etc... The real koko is in electronics, IT, satellites and drones. Lets not forget internation hit squads.

I know that under Azazi Nigeria set up some military outposts in Northern W.Africa; but these are not fighting or strike units. It is in Nigeria's interest to use the current ECOWAS interest in Mali to set up a well resourced military base there.
Boko haram should open our eyes to fact that we cannot keep on slacking and rapid development is now a priority.

There are a thousand and one better ways to achieve it, eg Electroactive Dielectric Elastomers (EAPs). These magic materials can generate electric currents when stretched or flexed (they can also be stretched or flexed by electric current).
The great thing is that they are dead cheap as well.

Nigeria should be very interested in such future tech. I can think of a thousand and one uses without even blinking.

Nigeria: FG Increases Excess Crude Account to N1.6 Trillion
BY ELIZABETH ARCHIBONG, 26 JUNE 2012
Comment
THE Federal Government has as part of an immediate plan to provide a buffer for the economy increased the Excess Crude Account (ECA) from N848 billioin ($5.3 billion) to N1.6 trillion ($10 billion).

This was part of the high points of the decision taken Monday by the National Economic Council (NEC) to protect the economy for at least three months from a possible global recession.

While expressing confidence in the economy, the National Economic Council stated, 'the economy is in good standing but pointed out the need for more judicious borrowing and application of funds by different levels of government.'

Other measures taken to protect the economy, according to Amaechi, include support for the President in his plans to appoint members of the Sovereign Wealth Funds Board of Directors including the Managing director, CEO as well as the executive and non- executive directors which is expected to come 'after a painstaking and credible recruitment process.'

The council's decision came following a presentation made by the Finance Minister and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy (CME), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on the Implementation Update on the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Athority (NSIA) as well as the need to protect Nigeria's economy from the persisting global economic crisis.

Council also considered the report of the Inter-Ministerial Teams on the recent Nation-wide inspection of 111 Federal Ministry of Water Resources Projects across the country by the Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe.

The report noted that the projects, which are at various stages of completion, require about N191.7 billion for completion, following which the Council recommended that all on-going projects should be completed to achieve meaningful development and avail Nigerians the opportunity of benefiting from the intended gains of the projects.

Both the Federal and State Governments will also partner to ensure that the various water, irrigation and dam projects are completed in a more beneficial and sustainable manner.

It directed Directorates of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources in the states and the state governments to jointly review the details of the projects to enable the government work out the funding arrangements and prepare a framework for completion of the projects.

Federal and the states are also to collaborate in the budgetary processes of some strategic ministries including Water Resources, Health, Education and works going forward, to promote synergy in projects implementation

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs Dr (Mrs) Precious Gbeneol, also briefed the Council on the N20.5 billion and N15 billion MDGs Fund for 2012 available to the States and LGAs respectively to fund development projects upon fulfillment of specified conditions including providing matching funds and bank guarantee bond.

The council advised the States to take advantage of the programme by meeting the required conditions which would enable them to access as much as N550 million per state.

It also mandated the MDGs office to provide a quarterly report on the progress made by the States as a means of gauging the overall progress made towards 2015.

Also speaking on Child Trafficking, the National Agency for the Prohibition of traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) also made a presentation to the Council on the growing incidence of trafficking and child labour and the danger they pose to the country's growth and development.

NEC said it noted the worsening development and backed the range of measures recommended by NAPTIP to check trafficking including deepening public enlightenment, rehabilitation and reintegrating of victims, establishing vocational centres for youths training, effective prosecution of traffickers and functional policing of our borders.

The council therefore recommended greater collaboration with the State and LGAs to address the push factors of trafficking and child labour.f
The guy you responded to is a bit retar'ded, but we are managing him sha. Lol!
We hear about the alarming sums that states like Lagos, Osun, Edo, Rivers etc are borrowing, many never ever question whose account the money their LG's and states borrowing comes out of, yet they claim to be a educated. A shame really.

Because our states and LG's are 100% reliant on awuf and generate absolutely zero, no sane foreign bank would lend them money. All borrowings by LG's and states are carried out on their behalf by the FG. The repayment money comes out of the state or LG's allocation.
Lagos state alone, accounts for 9.4% of Nigeria's external debt.

It is a pity that amongst supposedly educated people, some do not take the time to find out how things works and scream debt from the rooftops, whereas those debts belong to their states and LG's who have no means to repay, except out of the handouts the same FG gives to them. A pathetic state of existence indeed.

People, I'll keep screaming from the rooftops; hold your awuf luv'n lazy phuck LG boss and governor to account. If you cannot do this or preach it, then you are a gargantuan failure who represents all that must be rejected for Nigeria to develop; a failure.
LG bosses and state governors are elected to deliver services, not borrow money and shovel awuf oil money into their personal accounts.

TroGunn: So you are saying they are not suicide bombers because of the drugs. They only take the drugs to help them stay the course after deciding to kill. I can accept that. Armed robbers do that too, I hear.

Their Islamism ideology makes them suicide bombers, the drugs just help them not to chicken out. It means if they were not such cowards, these people would still be suicide bombers without need for the drugs. The root problem is the ideology.
Many suicide bombers are condemned to death by their masters and simply do not know what they are doing. They are pumped up with drugs, hyped up and sent on a one way journey. Others are half willing, and are pumped up with drugs to bolster them.

Dudes, there is nothing like a drug crazed fool who has been deprived all through life thinking they are stepping right off the cliff into a splendid land of unending puzzy.

People like Mutallab are different (perhaps, he failed because he wasn't on drugs).
Drugs and the altered state of mind they induce, are a terrorists number one weapon. With drugs, you can calmly slash the heads of "enemy" new born babies open (like in Jos) and set their innocent little corpses ablaze; with drugs, you can dull the event from your mind.

From his experience, Cosmas advises: “You can start any mean job as a stepping stone to where you want to be. The best skill you need is simply the ability to manage money properly and rely on God for grace. Blackberry is somebody’s brain child; same with Nokia. Unfortunately, many of us do not want to have brain children. Truly, many young people need to be completely reoriented because they have wrong conceptions of what it takes to be wealthy.

“They hit the wall because they search for success in wrong places like Yahoo Yahoo. Why not be practical about life if white collar jobs are not coming to you as a graduate? Learn to set goals for yourself! There are millions of jobs you could train yourself to do! If it takes serving as an apprentice, do it. Many of us die of frustration because we do not want to pay the price.

“I have five children and I ensure they go to school in Nigeria despite that some of them are American citizens, because I believe they need to learn street smartness! My oldest son graduated from the University of Lagos, and till age 25, he didn’t have a car because I didn’t give him any! He has done his MBA abroad, and now works with one of the banks in Nigeria. He now earns his own money and can buy himself whatever car he desires!”
True.
