I was really against the removal of the fuel subsidy when the governors demanded it. However, with the announcement of a package to cushion the poor against any effects, I'm tending toward the idea. What we should do now is engage the govt in dialogue and ensure that there are no gaps and loopholes in the welfare package for the poor. Nigeria just MUST develop and we cannot keep pandering to the whims of the few corrupt pockets the subsidy goes into. Again, this is how the fuel subsidy works: 1. Marketer imports fuel at market price 2. FG pays importer total costs 3. Marketer smuggles the fuel into neighbouring countries for sale at market price of close to 4. FG imports more fuel to fill the shortfall 5. The process repeats The above is a losing game that we can never win. The most effective solution would be to cut out the subsidy totally. If that is done, the ball is in our courts to ensure that the savings are used judiciously. I am sure we will all dearly wish to see the words of Allison Maduake I posted earlier come to fruition, because they will represent a mega leap up the ladder for Nigerian society (I would love to see free education included, tho ):“The package would help guarantee improved maternal and child health services while also providing conditional cash transfer scheme to pregnant women in the country, a package which as you know is unprecedented our history. There is also provision for primary school feeding programme, youth employment package which also entails what we call active labour market and public works programmes for youth. |
1025:You and the other members of your flock of doomsday preachers need to project more intelligence. The judiciary is about the most corrupt arm of govt and was under the thumb of known criminals like Tinubu. Every Nigerian is happy that an attempt has been made to flush the bad eggs out; thankfully, the new man is a radical who has voiced the firing squad as a punishment for corruption. Is that what is making you jittery? Anyways, after your unhelpful diversion, I advice each and every one of us to find out the difference between the EFCC and the judiciary. The EFCC does not jail criminals, that is the job of the judiciary; so lets stop asking why EFCC has not jailed people. Its a bit of a nonsensical question really. |
^ Kwara has changed a lot man! I'm impressed, more pics of different areas please (especially around the central mosque in Ilorin). |
olawalebab:Those cases are not EFCC business; we should be asking questions about our judiciary. |
doctokwus:Its sad, but thats what happens at the downfall of a corrupt person. All their "friends" run away. I don't see how Gbenga Daniels will not spend a period in jail. |
I like both OnlyTruth and nolongTing, so you guy's please drop the agro. |
^ Lol! Deal with the issue's or scram. I wonder why the source of corruption matters to you people? Is it only valid when it is from PDP or outside the SW as I've been blatantly told on this thread? You bigots are a funny specie of creature indeed. Deal with the issue or zoom into the sunset. These are the issues: Why does Aregbesola live in Lagos? Why is he alleged to have slapped Fashola? Why is he in control of Lagos politics to the neglect of Osun? |
In fact, we really shouldn't even celebrate again until we are developed. |
debosky:Dude, you can keep carrying your long held grudge like a chip on your shoulder; it doesn't bother me one bit, I can't mop up your tears, I'll just be here laughing my head off. Run along now, fool. Lol! @topic I imagine that several people from Lagos will be joining Ikuforiji in EFCC's net. ![]() |
chy101:The waterways are dredged all the way to Warri. How do you think the goods are going to come from abroad to the port in Onitsha? |
@ Bold Are you expecting Rhino to believe that thrash? common! dude am by far far more than what you can imagine. Give me another reason or STFU! Am not your average PDP sychophant. Going by those article i posted, you can find more accute cases than the false alarm you have been tirlessly beating/creating for weeks.
Many like me wouldn't have bothered to read any of what you posted, because it was a foolish attempt to derail the thread that has failed woefully. If you cannot deal with issues raised like the one below, then you have no business here. Nobody is impressed with your business of selling sentiment in order to steal, rob and prop up corruption. Facts like these below are the meat of this thread. Deal with it or scram. djustice: |
debosky:And you've shown you are a fool trying to defend corruption. I'm here laughing. |
^ You won't be duplicating threads by posting issues about different governors. Why am I interested in Osun? Funny question from someone who has just posted about a 1000 other states! Hypocritical. Aregbesola's case is extraordinary by any Nigerian measure. Nothing remotely similar has ever happened in the history of Nigeria. It is also very dangerous. Last time I looked, Osun was in Nigeria as well. Why does Aregbesola live in Lagos? |
kizito96:Dude, nobody will knock on our doors to tell us about ungoing court cases. We all need to be more diligent and apply ourselves to get that info. |
debosky:Would that justify the cost of the ramp or make the transaction look less corrupt? Face your front jare! |
^ Then open your own thread, instead of defending the evil Aregbesola is doing with diversionary posts. Any observer would quickly conclude that you are defending Aregbesola by pointing fingers and trying (but failling) to derail this one. Simply create another thread, sir. |
bossinie:The bolded is very correct, sir. ![]() That imp is a blight on NL. |
Once more, the article is about this: Why does Aregbesola, governor of Oshun live in Lagos? www.nairaland.com/attachments/540918_Aregbesola1_jpg583e4028da0b7c62ae01bc0a9b995dd6 |
djustice:No! So its even worse than just being Tinubu's pointsman to harangue Fashola to deliver Lagos states wealth into his pocket. Fashola absolutely needs to grow an urgent di.ck. Thanks for that info, the whole empire is a sordid mess. |
^ Is it that you people are actually defending corruption and ineptitude by foolishly attempting to point your crooked fingers and dodge issues? FAIL!!! Its all about this:
|
^ Dodging as usual? Fail. Bros, for your info, Aregbesola lives in Alimosho in Lagos. He spent only two days in Oshun in June and just five in July and refused to budge from Lagos for an extended period up into August; I believe he didn't visit the state at all in April (I could be wrong). We all know Aregbesola is supervising corruption in Lagos as Tinubu's pointsman, because Fashola is not playing ball and wants to get on with it. Aregbesola is deliberately disrupting Lagos on behalf of Tinubu. It would be useful to see where stolen funds are traced to in a few years time. The love for Lagos from Osun has much more to it. |
If a mere walkway cost 2.5billion and the bridge itself cost less than a billion, no be problem be dat? |
Gbenga Daniel especially is likely to go to jail. I don't see what will save him. |

EFCC bera track down the contractors and trace the money. I'm sure a lot of interesting stuff will pop up. 2.5billion for a 100m pedestrian walkway is absurd. |
^ Boring. Here's a better pic to entertain you! ![]() www.nairaland.com/attachments/540918_Aregbesola1_jpg583e4028da0b7c62ae01bc0a9b995dd6 www.nairaland.com/attachments/180447_ROTFLMAO_gif3d0c775232c7f27cf80592785b9635b6 |
^ Abeg, go and sleep! Boring bigoted phucker. I've got better things to do than discuss with people who don't even know that state govts are responsible to the FG and must account for every dime they get. Instead, you want to convince me that only Yoruba's can criticise Aregbesola. In a few years when he is hopefully locked away by the EFCC, would it be because the FG is Yoruba? Sounds really daft. I'm done with you. Next! @topic Would any of Aregbesola's creatures be man enough to explain this? Bros, for your info, Aregbesola lives in Alimosho in Lagos.
Meh Like I said, I don't care what you think. It doesn't matter to me. I said what I said for the benefit of @kodewrita (who appears to be from Ilesha, and thus is also a very distant kinsman of mine)
The sound of the logically trounced! ![]() Next! |
There is nothing being "given" to Osun by the FG. It is Osun's right, under the laws that govern the land. Even if I gift someone $100, I have no right to say how he spends it. If I don't like how he is spending it, I can stop the gift. But as I said, this is no gift.
Really? You're coming up with even more intellectually constrained stuff. There is a reason why the EFCC and ICPC, both FG bodies are mandated to probe, prosecute and jail governors who have used their state funds corruptly. Guess what that reason is? . . .And I never heard that their ethnic group was ever taken into consideration either. Rubbish. |
olawalebab: hope it will turn to another Bankole showI don't understand you. Should Bankole be jailed without trial? His case is in court and I have few doubts that the phucker is headed for jail. We Nigerians need to develop a reading habit and a long attention span, because we tend to react by instinct all the time. It isn't good. Michael Jackson died 2 years ago, yet his doctors trial is only coming up now; the story is similar with that fool called Mutallab. Why can't we just allow the courts do their thing? We aren't running a dictatorship where people are just summarily flung in jail or made to disappear. |
^ I see you are "smokin d0p3 and sellin d0p3 str8 off d i-phone." A true Tinubu follower! Tinubu smokes do'pe and deals drugs too. ![]() |
Sorry, I missed this post. I'm not defending Aregbe's actions. I just don't see how his actions concern Beaf and the rest of these PDP rabblerousers with no connection to the SW or Osun. It is none of their business.
Lol! Another way of saying. . . "I'm not defending Aregbesola, but only Yoruba people can criticise him. . ." Whose money is Aregbesola wasting and using for Lagos state politics? Last time I looked, it was money given to Osun by the FG. Or maybe the FG is owned by Aregbesola and his coterie of eager bigots from the SW on NL. Every state in Nigeria is my business, regardless of what any closed-minded bigot thinks. |
