Bankole stops motion against acting president From JAMES OJO, Abuja Thursday, March 25, 2010 A deft move by the leadership of the House of Representatives yesterday stalled a motion to curtail the power of the Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan. Daily Sun gathered that the motion would have come under matter of urgent national importance since it was not listed on the order paper, while it was confirmed that the motion was being sponsored by members from Katsina State. It was gathered that the Speaker, Dimeji Bankole had approved the motion to be moved, but later had a rethink when some members of the leadership and his kitchen cabinet pointed to him the implication of such motion. Some members, who preferred to attend to committee assignments had to rush back to the chamber when information reached them that a motion against the acting president was in the offing, with active support of the leadership. “We are returning to the chamber, when we hear that a motion to challenge the acting president will be moved. If such is allowed, this House is finished. How can anybody contemplate such thing? Do they want Nigerians to stone us? Haba, these people should stop ridiculing the House. “This is not the time to do things that will make the people to stage protest castigating us,” a member said on his way to the chamber. But the sponsors of the motion insisted that the motion has become imperatives to protect President Umaru Yar’Adua, who is recuperating and his family. According to one of the sponsors, who craved for anonymity since the leadership prevented the motion from been moved, reports in the media showed that the safety of the president and his household was at risk. “What we are reading in some newspapers, which I have copies suggests to me and other well meaning Nigerians and indeed, my constituents, I mean the people of Katsina State that the safety, security and comfort of President Yar’Adua and his immediate family is being threatened. “I make reference to the publication of SundayTrust of Mrach 21, 2010, that suggests that there is an attempt to deny President Yar’Adua the services of his Chief Security Officer [CSO and his Aide De Camp [ADC] and this attempt is not in any way denied or countered. “I am also drawing the attention of my colleagues to Sunday Sun of March 21st 2010 with a reference to an interview granted by a prominent Nigerian, suggesting a threat to Mr President’s personal security and safety,” the member observed. Another supporter of the motion from the South East argued that any threat to the security and the welfare of the president and his immediate family was contrary to section 14 [2] [b] of the 1999 constitution. “It was the leaders who prevailed on us not to move the motion , they asked us to do more consultation because they were afraid that such a motion will polarize the House and that they don’t want it. They said that we should take the motion to the North East caucus. “But we told them that we have done enough consultation and truly, we were surprised the way members showed interest, the truth is that we are ready for the motion. This is not about the North, we are talking about the president of Nigeria ,” the said. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/mar/25/national-25-03-2010-002.htm |
biina:Of course, with your unusual logic, the typo's must have been made by the bank clients. Sanusi wasn't responsible? Damn! In which country (including Sudan) does the Central Bank publish typo's? Where have you heard of any central bank (including the one in Khartoum) publishing false figures only to recant and call them typo's? Do you realise the gravity in the institution of the Central Bank or do you think we are talking cheap about Dugbe or Kazaure markets here? The fact that typo's were published by an institution as grave and sacred as our Central Bank only goes to show that its boss, Sanusi is a mere bush man struggling to operate in a league that is beyond his simple agbero mentality. If you genuinely think I am "just trying to blow the typos", then you need to takeup less demanding arguments; if however, you've been paid to put up these illogical positions, then I hope you don't have to do it for much longer. May Jonathans broom sweep away Sanusi's bow tied, marabout ar'se. Why am I not surprised that you have nothing to say about the EFCC's implication in attempts to extort $2 million from Cecilia Ibru? |
Yar’Adua: Yakassai cautions Bankole From DESMOND MGBOH, Kano Thursday, March 25, 2010 Elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has cautioned the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole to do all in his power to check the moves of the pro- Jonathan group, pointing out that his own position as the Speaker of House automatically comes under threat, the day any harm comes to the Yar’Adua Presidency. Speaking to Daily Sun in his residence in Kano, on Tuesday, Yakasai insisted that the recent dissolution of the Federal Executive Council was part of a grand design to remove President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua from office. The Second Republic adviser to the president, who is one of the few voices on the side of the ailing president remarked that he could smell an unholy alliance between the pro-Jonathan group and the Senate President, David Mark in the entire plot. He, was, however, optimistic that though the acting president would try to remove Yar’Adua’s structure using his reconstituted executive council yet, he said, the entire plot would fail. Noting that the removal of Yar’Adua constitutionally required the Senate president and the speaker to sign the medical report in the event that the new executive council got to that stage, he also added that given the history of the strained relationship between the Senate and the House of Representatives, it was unlikely that both chambers would ever find a meeting point in the unholy plot. But to Speaker Dimeji, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai noted that given that there have been previous attempts to remove him from office by forces loyal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, “the speaker must note that the fight is not just for Yar’Adua, but he is fighting to protect his own position too. His position as the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives will be endangered once he allows Yar’Adua’s own to come to threat.” He further alleged that from the beginning, all the crises were orchestrated by the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, in a bid to realize his political ambition. According to him, a few hours before Yar’Adua departed from Nigeria, he made frantic efforts to meet with his Deputy, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan through his aides. But he added that somehow, Jonathan made himself inaccessible as at then, only to call on phone shortly before the departure of Yar’Adua’s plane. He recalled that even then, President Yar’Adua had urged him to assume all the duties of the president. Hear him repeat what Yar’ Adua told Jonathan: “I am traveling now; I leave everything under your care. You are free to run the country as you deem fit. You can refer to me only when you feel that there is a need to refer to me.” Alhaji Tanko went on: “But immediately he (Yar’Adua) left, Dr. Jonathan refused to do anything. Even those things that he was doing when Yar’Adua was around, he simply stopped doing them all. He refused to do anything on the grounds that Yar’Adua has not handed over to him and so, the files kept piling until it reached the point when the party leadership of the PDP went to see him.” https://www.northernunion.net/fileAdmin/useruploads/lignum/d93e27a414b050d050866e4ae7a0f938_26.jpg http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/mar/25/national-25-03-2010-018.htm |
What sophistication can we expect from a marabout with a sharia degree from Sudan? Is it not the same Sanusi that said the CEO's should be lined up at Bar Beach and executed by firing squad? This is even while his so called bank audit had thrown up all sorts of false debts which where then promptly and immorally published, only for the CBN to recant after being sued and challenged by several bank clients. The same fiasco reared its head in the tracing of asset ownerships. Right now the EFCC has been implicated in attempts to extort $2 million from Cecilia Ibru. The whole thing is a mess, but we can't expect better when the man on whose desk the buck stops, Sanusi, is a simple bush man who is struggling to operate in a league way above his station. |
18 platoon:Only iliterates think like you, I am sure you have heard the relevant ND people talk about who the enemy is. You talk too much. |
EFCC is now embroiled in $2 million extorsion saga with an ex-CEO, so the trial by press moves by Sanusi et al might be seen as part of an elaborate greasy scheme. Scratch my back, I free you. . . |

I am quite sure the US can site a nuclear power plant in Nigeria at warp speed. Remember they proposed to help Jonathan with 10,000 Mega Watts (not our 6,000 target I say a big YES to the nuclear power plant. There are two things we must make sure of though;
[li]Nigerians must have oversight of all technologies with the firm view of taking over[/li] [li]There must be a well defined, researched and acceptable means of disposing our nuclear waste[/li]
|
If this project does take off, it should go hand in hand with the total revamp of all roads through to Benue state and more importantly, a highway / goods railway from Asaba through to Warri port. With the aove, the bridge would soon pay for itself as well as greatly reduce heav goods traffic on the over laboured Ore-Lagos road. |
FG Raises Hope On Second Niger Bridge Tony Ailemen 24 March 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Abuja — Acting President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday renewed hope for the construction of the second Niger Bridge which has been described as strategic for national unity. The came on the heels of current fears that the old Niger Bridge which was recently declared as " unsafe" was under the threat of possible collapse. Governors Peter Obi of Anambra State, Martins Elechi of Ebonyi State, Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Theodore Orji of Abia State and Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State were all at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to meet with Jonathan over the problems of the South East geo-political zone. Governor Obi who briefed State House Correspondents after the meeting assured that the federal government gave assurances on the construction of the second Niger Bridge. He said: "The second Niger Bridge, as you know is necessary. The first Niger Bridge built several years ago is collapsing. The Ministry of Works, the Senate and House Committees on Works and the contractors handling the projects have said that the bridge is no longer safe and there is an urgent need to start the construction of the second Niger Bridge," he said. He said the Acting President in the meeting promised to intervene with a view to commencing the construction of the second Niger Bridge before the expiration of the tenure of this administration. The governors, who said they were at the Villa to discuss issues affecting the South-East region, listed those issues to include erosion, insecurity and those of abandoned federal government projects as some of the issues on the front burner requiring urgent federal government attention in the South East. "As you know, last year, the federal government declared the entire south east a disaster area and promised to intervene and government actually formed a committee led by the Acting President himself," Obi said. He noted that most of the governors in the south east were spending fortunes to keep the police and other security agencies but the situation, he said, cannot continue because they found out that the hoodlums firepower was more than that of the police. "The security agencies are trying but they need more support from the federal government. There is also the issue of water in the urban areas, the federal government in the past awarded contracts for water scheme in Aba, Enugu, Onitsha, Orlu, all these have become abandoned projects. These and other issues, such as the dearth of federal government projects in the south east, that is why we are here," he noted. http://allafrica.com/stories/printable/201003240622.html |
RoadStar:That is the exact analogy to the bankrupt argument Sanusi attempts to make with Soludo. There is a gulf of several Worlds between the way our learned marabout employed area boy tactics of coporate lynching, hear tearing, frantic blame games and finger pointing. . . And the way a true banking professional quietly went about his job, building trust, confidence and capacity. Needless to say, the US was one of the first to come out of recession; over here, we don't even know what the true state of the economy is, but Sanusi thinks he should take his eye of the job and pitch for popularity stakes by dabbling in the power sector. His is the signature of a man that still hasn't grasped the remit of his job after all this time. ![]() |

biina:Talking of falsification, what can be more criminal and unprofessional than a Central Bank Governor simply discarding the gravity of his office and adding zero's to bank clients debts, publishing the false figures in the media and cooperating with EFCC to hunt both the guilty and the innocent. Major parts of the CEO bruhaha have already collapsed disgracefully like the sham arrangement it always was; one has got his bank back and the EFCC is embroiled in a $2 million extortion scandal with another. All the while the banking sector sinks deeper into the avoidable morasse Sabusi built. They can't lend money (a fundamental function), but major domo is busy investing in the power sector. That man is bewildered, lost, mediocre and confused. |
papadonkee:Tony Anenih is a finished force. You are right. He has been battered and broken by Oshiomole, I don't know if you saw the interview he did with Gbenga Aruleba. Anenih had constituted himself into Edo states one man cabal, but has since been through some major league roughing up; I doubt he can even control his own LG, talkless of influencing nominations in Anambra. |

The rest of the country needs to dig in to fight and utterly defeat those criminals claiming to be fighting for the "Norhern interest". They are nothing short of grand robbers, murderers and worthless parasites. They must be defeated. It is left for the true Northerners to look around themselves and began to ask intelligent questions about what this so called "Norhern interest" is an why it has never touched them; even though its proponents have ruled this country since 1960 (aside from OBJ who they enthroned to protect "Norhern interest" . The North remains, by far the poorest region, but curiously, a handful of its population are by far, the richest Nigerians ("Norhern interest" ).It is time for us to put away the useless primordal, tribal sentiments these leaches propagate and reach for merit, which is the most powerful tool for development. Say NO to rotational presidency. |

^ We sadly witness the rebirth of one of NL's greatest screamers and outright dunces. ![]() Dis Guy:Jonathan is a very smart guy, I can assure you that if such happens, it will be the govs and Ogbolafor that will have egg in their faces. |
A lot of the posts here are a bit on the ignorant side, but thats Nigerians for you. We love our shouting and screaming, some even mistake it for a sign of wisdom and Godliness. So please people, don't join the dim bulbs; lets wait for things to settle. I am almost sure that some of the names on that list are duds; how else would one man deal with the intense lobbying from 500+ politicians now camped in Abuja?. . . And thats not counting "royal highnesses" eg, Emir of Sokoto (who traditionally has to nominees). Its a mad house out there! Let the dust settle and we'll know whats going on. Those who are calling Jonathan names like mumu, it tells a lot about your person. |
The nature of politics s that you dine with the devil. You can be sure that the recycled deadwoods are going to be sent to ministries of kpomo and noise making. Jonathan will put his own guys in strategic posts, he will also have at least, a two thirds majority in the FEC. . . .Its the way of politics. |
Yaaaayyyyyyyy! Am on da list!!! ![]() |

I an neither a muslim nor a hausa from the north but i can defend issues that i see as baseless and irrelevant. Sharia may have been adopted in the some parts of the north but that is as far as it gets. The only people that are happy with cosmetic growth figures are the thieves and parasites that have been ruining this country. Last time I looked, Sanusi had given up orthodox banking to invest in power supply; this is the very same way he replaced his visions for our banks with vulgar dreams of CEO's at extrajudicial firing squads. . . Perhaps, his natural failings are the result of the marabout in him, but then, every bush man has a way of neglecting both duty and commonsense where they matter most. . . .A bow tied square peg in a round hole! |
hollandis:What is this about? How can an adult say such senseless and evil things? This is surely a sign of mental illness. |
There isn't anything wrong with what he said. At the time he came in, the country was really in danger of falling apart; that is why he was fished out of jail. It was a frantic attempt to salve nerves that were frayed over June 12 and other similar pressing matters. It worked. . . Just that now we have brand new principalities and powers in the cabal. ![]() |
Yar’Adua’s men fight back March 23, 2010 by Bunmi Awolusi ■Hire 7 SANS to tackle Jonathan ■2 ex-ministers fail security tests ■Jonathan, lawmakers in crucial meeting Loyalists of ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua are said to have hired, at least, seven Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to fight the decision by the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to dissolve the Federal Executive Council (FEC). It was gathered that the aggrieved kitchen cabinet members had resolved to fight the acting president for taking the decision without recourse to the sitting president. A source said that members of the dislodged cabal were bitter over the dissolution of the cabinet, which meant that all of them had lost their plum positions. The group is said to have raised N500 million to prosecute its legal challenge. It was gathered that the group was also planning to embark on lobbying of members of the Senate to ensure that they delayed the screening and confirmation of ministerial nominees for, at least, two weeks. http://nigerianbulletin.com/summary-plus-news/yar%E2%80%99adua%E2%80%99s-men-fight-back-tribune/23032010/14553/ |
