Oluwatoniloba David Obafemi was kidnapped by Comfort Amos on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at RCCG, Central Parish, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja. Comfort Amos is a member of the church choir where Timothy Taiwo Obafemi (Toni's Father) is the Deputy HOD of the choir. Comfort Amos unusually sat where the nursing mothers sat in church on Sunday and particularly sat beside Mariah Toyin Obafemi (Toni's mother), who is also a Sunday School teacher. Comfort carried and played with Toniloba and after some minutes requested that she wanted to go give her house-help money for 'offering' in the children's church. She left with Toniloba. After some minutes, Toyin got unsettled and decided to go look for Comfort. All efforts to track Comfort has since proven abortive. Wole Shonibare, a church member called Comfort and she confirmed she was in Jabi Park and when she was advised to return the baby, she snapped back at him that she will not return the baby. All efforts to speak with Comfort after that has been fruitless. Toni is 9months old while Comfort is 40/41 years old. She was last tracked to Shendam, Plateau State. pls call 08105661286; 08084848757, 08077032661, 08031893290 for any useful infomation, pls re-broadcast 4 a wider spread, pls |

When President Goodluck Jonathan pointed out that he thinks that he is the most criticized president in the whole world, he also mentioned that by the time he is leaving he would be the most praised president. Could it possibly be that the praises have already started pouring in for the president? In the middle of several criticisms, praises might indeed have begun to trickle in for President GoodluckJonathan. The occasion was the 79th birthday of legal icon, social justice crusader and a former presidential candidate, Dr Tunji Braithwaite. On the same day a book titled “Jurisprudence of The Living Oracles’’, written by Braithwaite was also launched. While the numerous guests at the occasion poured encomiums on the legal luminary, when he had the opportunity to speak, Braithwaite commended the personality of the President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that he was divinely ordained. According to Dr Braithwaite, “When I visited the president six weeks ago, journalists accosted me and said ‘what have you come here to do?’ I told them I was there for the good of Nigeria. I am not diplomatic when it comes to issues affecting the welfare of the nation. I said President Jonathan is a president we should all support… This country will not disintegrate. I sincerely believe we will have a national dialogue to solve our problems. I am glad we have a listening president put there by the owner of the universe.” http://talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=DE2AD02B-3057-44E2-BCD3-F06E0D546B77 |
The National Universities Commission (NUC), the body charged with the responsibility of monitoring the activities of universities in the country, has banned the conduct of re-sit examinations in Nigerian universities. The NUC, in a statement by its Chief Information Officer, Mrs Bukola Olatunji, in Abuja, on Wednesday, frowned on the discovery that some universities conduct supplementary examination for their students, in addition to regular semester examinations. The commission therefore warned that the conduct of such examinations was in violation of extant rules and regulations, and urged all universities involved to stop the practice henceforth or face sanction. In her words, “The attention of the NUC has been drawn to the fact that some universities conduct supplementary examination for their students, in addition to regular semester examinations… This contradicts the Course Credit System in operation in the Nigerian university system, which has no provision for re-sit or supplementary examinations. “For the avoidance of doubt, the Course Credit System provides that courses should be taken on semester basis and a course failed in one semester should be carried over to the following year and to be re-taken at the next available opportunity.” http://www.informationnigeria.org/2012/09/no-more-re-sit-exams-in-universities-nuc.html http://talkofnaija.com/news_details.aspx?NewsId=C7A372C3-AB0E-464E-A3A7-2211D4DB648B |

Minister of Trade and Investment Mr. Olusegun Aganga has described Nigeria as the most attractive destination for investments in Africa. Aganga said Nigeria has recorded the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), translating to $8.4bn (about N930bn). He spoke at the opening of the ongoing Nigeria Oil and Gas Trade and Investment Forum 2012 taking place at the Onne Oil and gas Free Zone, a location that has attracted investments of over $6bn from 160 companies from around the world. The minister noted that the statistics he is working with was produced by United Nation Commission for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which also rated Nigeria as the 25th most likely country to attract investment fund in the world. Aganga added that free trade zone arrangement was now being deployed by countries around the world as an integral part of their trade stimulation apparatus. He said: “The Onne Oil and Gas Free Zone, undoubtedly, is on course and it is today adjudged the single largest and fastest growing Free Zone in the world. It is dedicated to the oil and gas industry with a cumulative investment of $6 billion as at today and presence of over 160 investors.” In his key address on the occasion, President Goodluck Jonathan said that the forum was to showcase the Onne Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone with a view to attracting more FDIs and at the same time enhancing the role of private sector in driving the economy towards sustainable development. The President was represented by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State. He said his administration’s transformation agenda was anchored on the belief that the private sector is the engine of economic growth and prime mover of the reform process. He said: “One of the cornerstones of the transformation agenda of the present administration is the public private sector partnership initiative. I assure all investors and prospective investors in Nigeria of government’s commitment and total support as long as there is sincerity of purpose to our collective efforts to reposition our economy to be among the leading 20 economies of the world in the year 20:2020.” http://nationalmirroronline.net/news/52014.html |
@OP: How many times will you post this thread? Choose one nah, Na wa oh |
I will give him 9. Reason being that his leadership showcases a determination to keep the country in Unity; determination to win the War against terrorism, corruption and other social vices eg. trial of those involved in the oil subsidy scam; a determination to reorientate Nigerians; a determination to empower the youths and women (Youwin and sure programme). I minused 1 mark for him just because he is human and not perfect. |
About 40 million of the 73.5 million registered Nigerian voters during the 2011 general election would be issued with permanent biometric chip-based voters’ cards before the end the year while the remaining 33.5 million would be given out in 2013. The move is part of the strategic plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to tackle all kinds of irregularities that Nigeria is famous for when it comes to conducting elections. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, disclosed this in an interview at a two-day INEC 2012 Strategic Plan Retreat, which began in Lagos yesterday. Jega, who described the initiative as ‘unique and first of its kind in Nigeria’ said already, the contract for the production of the biometric chip-based voters’ card had been awarded by the commission. The chairman added that the scheme would bring more efficiency and credibility into the conduct of elections in the country. He said: “With regards to the permanent voters’ register, we are working assiduously on this. If you are aware, when we did the registration of voters in January and February 2011, we registered about 73.5 million voters. We intend to produce permanent voters’ cards for all registered individuals and we would ensure that everybody registered gets a permanent voters’ card. “We have already given out the contract as I speak with you, and we hope that before the end of this year, we will commence the distribution of the permanent voters’ cards for about 40 million registered voters. By next year, we hope to be able to complete the production of the rest of the permanent voters’ card.” http://nationalmirroronline.net/news/49729.html |
My State has 3 senators. Some Bills receive approval from the house of reps but get thrown out at the senate, and vice versa. This shows that one of the differences is the opinions of the masses being represented by the senators/house of reps members. |

I appreciate the artist. I just hope Oshiomole would assist him to be self-reliant. Having a studio set up for him could help. By the way, that's if the guy doesn't have one already. We need to applaud the Gov's down to earth manners. How many rich people can allow a poor artist to come into their compound, let alone draw their portrait? |
This is clearly a case of Multiple personality disorder, when one person believes that he has more than one personality inside him/her. it's a psychological problem. He needs prayers |
``A lot of work has been done by this administration in the past two years which has not been adequately reported in the media. So, this tour will expose a lot things for everyone to see,” Maku said. They should also expect feedback from the people. The masses should be able to assess the developmental projects and make inputs as to how to make them better. |
However, action speaks louder than word. Oga should just concentrate and do his work for all to see. Only then will the "evil forces" be put to shame |
Na wa oh, some people just rush to comment before even reading the contents of a post. The president simply identified that co-operation and collaboration of efforts is needed to make things work. It's left for Fashola to decide if whether he wants to collaborate with the federal government or not, okay? |

He can vie for the position of the governor of his home state for all I care, but Nigerian presido? Nah! Nah!! Nah!!! |
The fact remains that in a true democratic system of government, there is room for opposition. However, the opposition should be characterized by constructive criticisms, healthy competitions and meaningful advice. It should not be full of intimidations, blackmails and efforts to pull down the present administration, as it is the case in Nigeria. Politicians in Nigeria are blinded by sheer greed, selfishness and ignorance. It doesn't work like that! Be that as it may, the position of the President should be a brave and fearless one. Therefore, Jonathan's warning to his detractors is right. |
Rubbish! We have enough Nollywood movies to watch. We don't like seeing Ghana's p*o*r*n-like movies. People know where to buy the real ones if they like. ![]() |
Just look at how some people are derailing this Thread. If u don't like tennis, u are not under any obligation to comment on this thread. I remember when it was on the news that Arsenal FC would no longer visit Nigeria as planned, many people were busy shouting, cursing and blaming anybody that came to their mind for the postponed visit. Now, the Williams sisters are coming to Nigeria, the same people are here saying it's of no use, eg free2rhyme. What do you guys really want? BTW, I think their visit would be a motivation for tennis lovers. They could also learn some skills from the ladies, u know. |
