Politics / Re: Minister Under Fire Over Corps Members’ Posting by betrani(m): 9:49am On Jul 14, 2012
The question we should be asking is; Of wat use is NYSC to any Nigerian? A failed state; where everybody has his back and that of his family members alone! Is it worth dyin for any one when all we think of doin everyday; is hw to steal from others, kill others, loot what is meant for everyone, serve our personal gods we believe in, and kill others in the name of killin for this god or that god! These corps members are just not sensible! Is very simple; go on social network sites; get to knw who who and who is posted to ur own state of assignment(supposedly a troubled zone) form a formidable team and outrightly reject ur postings there and stick to what eva decisions u take as a team! If u can meet each other face to face and arrange things, simple!

Notin unique about BB! If u ve any phone with qwerty keypad(not china and oldskool) install whatsapp! And u can chat for mre than an hour with just N10! BB is just a hype! Notin dey am!

Java bit-code developed android in the first instance! By my understanding Sharpen converted Java scripts to C#! I still think programmers would do a lot of coding wit Java which would ve to be converted to C#! C# as a programming language for nw I won't say would alone develop Android OS! I c the scenario of combinin it with Java as is d case with web designin! Php with asp.net, java, html, xml xhtml etc!

LocalChamp: We will expose corrupt senators – Mark
On July 8, 2012 · In News 12:50 amEmail1

By HENRY UMORU

SENATE President David Mark has vowed to expose corrupt senators and those engaged in acts capable of tarnishing the image of the National Assembly.

Mark stressed that no amount of blackmail will deter the institution from carrying out its oversight functions. He, however, cautioned members of the public against compromising lawmakers in the discharge of their duties, stressing that the National Assembly will continue to clear itself in its strong determination to meet the expectations of the electorate.

Speaking at the National Assembly-Private Sector Forum organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Lagos, the Senate president noted that allegation of corruption against the National Assembly was exaggerated.

According to him, “There are those who say that the National Assembly takes the bunch of the budget. This is very ridiculous. I know that what goes to the National Assembly is not more than 2.5% of the total budget. The National Assembly members are always accused of corruption but Nigerians ,to a large extent ,are responsible for this alleged corruption.

”If a businessman gives a bribe to a lawmaker, is it only the lawmaker that is corrupt? If the business man didn’t offer the bribe, the lawmaker will not accept. But the question remains: Why did he accept it? If our National Assembly members are found wanting, we will discipline them.

“We will clean our house to earn the respect of those that elected us into our respective offices. We will continue to clean our house and those who bring us to shame will get their punishment accordingly.”

Stressing that the legislature as an arm of government is on a steady growth and improving by each legislative day, Mark recalled that the level of rancour that characterized the legislative houses between 1999 and 2003 has been reduced.

“We would continue to improve on legislative business until we attain a level where the average Nigerian will be satisfied with our performance”, he said.

mediainspired: See who's talking. Does Atiku even bother to gauge his popularity rating among Nigerians generally b4 plunging headlong on another futile presidential misadventure. I doubt he'll score more than 5%. Jonathan may hav performed abysmally, but Atiku is NEVER an alternative. Many people I'v interracted wit don't like him for TOO MANY reasons: DESPERATION, POLITICAL OPPORTUNISM, DISLOYALTY, MUD-SLINGING, UNTRUSTWORTHY, LACK OF PEDIGREE, FINANCIAL SCANDALS, UNMARKETABLE, QUESTIONABLE PAST &SOURCE OF INCOME; PLUS HE'S A DYE-IN-THE-WOOL NIGERIAN POLITICIAN OF THE OLD BREED WHO BLED THIS COUNTRY TO ITS PRESENT STUPOUR. Atiku, pls retire already!
I disagree wit u! As much as I ain't Pro-GEJ; I would say this; Nigerians always think it is possible to plant maize seeds nw and harvest a curb! They fail to understand that everythin works with time! As much as we knw that two years down his administration, GEJ hasn't performed! It is also ideal to say that the Nigeria we see today nids more than a personality to reform, rehabilitate, rennovate and put back on track! It isn't about getting on NL to rain abuses on individuals! Its about takin an individual stance for good or for bad and stickin to it! We want GEJ to build our country; same country that was destroyed by the same masters who planted him as president! Tell me hw we can ever move beyond what state we are now, with the everstrong grip shackling us! We make so much noise about protests; but fall victims to candy bars offer by the same traitors we protest against! Our progress is neva GEJ's duty! Its about shoutin a collective shout not only in our bedrooms but beyond; against injustice done our individual selves and against our country!

desari: @tpia,

Tpia, i am not claiming to be bill gates or steve jobs. For a single woman at my age with no children, i do pretty well. If i meet a man a man that is at my financial level then that's great, but if not..i at least want him to be able to buy some stuff like food stuff...go half on the bills when we eat out e.t.c. I don't think i am asking for much. I am going based off a past relationship, where this bobo wanted me to take care of all things financial...needless to say i had to kick him to the curb. I find it hard to respect such men.

Regardless of the fact that i have lived in the U.S for quite few years I am still a naija woman, and i would love it if a guy i was in a relationship came to me of his own free will and said "babe here is some money" cook some fabulous ila asepo and some hot amala for me" instead my ex would want me to buy groceries with my money all the time so he can enjoy the food too. imagine that nonsense?? Thats when i decided no more "akushe folks" bobos have to be able to play their part financialy or they can keep it moving.
! Hw come all women are the same? If its a man who puts u in his hws and baby-sit u; I guess u will be very ok with that! Since all u women do is wait on a man to sit on the driver's seat! U can't do that for a guy, cos its a guy! I won't even as a guy wait on a lady to feed my fangs! But wats wrong in feeding a guy? If u re sincere with what u want then soonest u will find a man! Otherwise u will neva get one! I ve an uncle whose wife claim to be rich! Even though the husband kick his own ass to be the man of the house, the woman neva sees his part as anytin! I just hope ur not one of such women who are scared to spend their money; even for the childrens benefit!

cold: FG insists on posting corps members to the north

The Federal Government has given the assurance of the safety of all corps members across the country during the mandatory National Youth Corp Service (NYSC).

This was made known on Wednesday at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

This is in reaction to the rejection by some newly posted corps members to some troubled states in the North Eastern region of the country.

Answering questions from state house correspondents after the FEC meeting, the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, said the government places premium on safety of corps members, adding that it was the responsibility of the government to ensure they are safe wherever they are deployed.

Aygem: When Micheal Ajere (Don Jazzy) announced the formation of his new music label, Mavin Records and the subsequent release of its debut album, "The Solar Plexus, many were ancticipating another hit album with the signing of yet anoda act Tiwa Savage but Mrs Tiwa couldnt Savage the album from being a failure as it hasnt gained much appeal from the Nigerian audience. Albums grow on people but it seems this make-shift album waned more than it actually shined despite the powerful vocaling strength of Tiwa Savage. She was allowed just a track on the album with the likes of D prince,Dr Sid and Wande Coal given the freedom to sing whack over a seemingly nice beat. Save for Amarachi,o ma ga, yolo which are average tracks, the other tracks in the album are monotous, boring and noisy,no wonder it couldnt make headway into the consciousness of nigeria music scene. The Mavin crew are surely missing something here!
And since when did u become an expert in music? Whoever told u, ur right as regards this album is a joker! If there isn't an album in comparison with this I would say there isn't any basis whatsoever to damn this album as being a fluke! The guy tried! Regardless of the lyrics of the other songs u didn't mention, He still got the bit right! Who told u nigerian artists ever sing sense? It is the beats that has "cotton-swabbed" us from hearin the wackness in the songs ok!

EnnyP: Am a graduate of accounting from federal polytechic Ado-ekiti. Its true we do a lot of accounting courses in school. I graduated 2004. While in school, some of our lecturers then were also contract lectures in the then University of Ado. And i can remember they always tells us in class that we do better than our counterparts in UNAD.
Well like someone has pointed out, the difference is in individuals. Its just frustrating the way HND graduates are being treated in Nigeria labour market. After my youth service, i got a job in access bank as a contract staff. The experience wasn't a nice one at all.
SO HOW COME WHEN EVER THESE BANKS ADVERTIZE POSITIONS, THEY OFTEN PREFER PEOPLE WITH HND CERTIFICATES, IF THE EXPERIENCE WASN'T A GOOD ONE? IS IT THAT THEY ARE SCARED OF PAYING B.SC HOLDERS LARGER SUMS, HALF OF WHICH THEY WOULD PREFER TO PAY A HND HOLDER OR WHAT? WHAT EXACTLY WAS UR EXPERIENCE? COS I ALWAYS THINK MYSELF; THAT POLYTECHNIC GRADUANDS ARE BETTER TRAINED THAN UNIVERSITY GRADUATES; PRACTICALLY ANYWAY NOT THEORITICALLY!

bayooooooo:

The above quote is where the NASS derives the power to summon "any person", let's look at "any person":

What happens if "any person" in this above quote for House of Representative is the Senate President or vice versa? Can Tambuwal(House of Reps) order David Mark to appear before him? Is it enforceable? That "any person" even when interpreted loosely is still not applicable to everyone in Nigeria. The supreme court will have to interpret if that "any person" can be applied to the office of president.

It's my opinion that GEJ is not duty bound to appear and can not be compelled to appear before NASS. NASS also does not have the means of enforcing such a resolution. Can they also order CJN to appear? Shunning such an invitation more so when it does not have any precedent can not amount to impeachable offence. SO on technicality of law, GEJ is not duty bound to appear.

I made the above contribution in a similar thread. The only addition I have now is to appreciate the fact that GEJ is taking the right step. Civil litigation in a democracy especially in a renascent one as ours can only help give true meaning to the boundary or limits of powers of each arm of government. There is a reason why we have Supreme Court and is in part to adjudicate on matters of this nature. Let supreme court decides if any person, in this case, is truly the same as everyone.

Now you are definitely showing yourself a MUMU. First you claimed the President should have nothing to do with it and I explained why the summon makes sense given that in Nigeria, the President is in Charge of Security. Instead of acknowledging your mistake, you choose to digress by offering up yet more stupid assumptions(as expected).

Briefing the representatives is akin to briefing Nigerians on the progress of his so called fight against Boko Haram. It has been more than a year since he claims to have been fighting the scourge. In that same period, Boko Haram has moved from being an occasional program to becoming regular place in he minds of Nigerians. The group seems to have gained more power and support in all that time. The house calling on the president to brief the nation on how he exactly he has been fighting this problem that has now earned us a bad name on the international scene, will help not only the house, but Nigerians who are intelligent and understand that this democracy is theirs too, understand if there has really been a fight or not, and where the problems really are and what they can do, if at all, about them.

Education is key! The security of a Nation is never meant to be a SECRET . . . the people should be well aware of what the plans are and if and how they will or might be affected. Jonathan is essentially head of security and having him brief the people on what the heck is going on, is what is called COMMON SENSE . . . get some!
Really! Common sense u call it! I think ur the one who needs a gumption here! Have u heard of the phrase; "classified information" in security terms? I think u need to get a meanin of that phrase! So u still have d bold mind to ask ur president to go face some clowns whom he has evidence are sponsoring the same violence? I think u need a better research urself!
