Obama,  one of my favorite Americans. I wish him the best, but I still find it very difficult to believe that white Americans will allow him to be the next United States president on this planet.
And please, do not misunderstand me, my man (Obama) has it all and very much capable of making it happen, but it will be a mighty miracle.

I've also been asked several times that how come African Americans are very hesitant to accept or stand up and support this man (Obama).
What makes Obama special and different from Al Shapton, who also happened to run for the last presidential election?
Many African Americans also did not give Shapton full support he deserved.
If Shapton didn't command enough black support, why do you think Obama deserves or in a position to get more support from African Americans?

My answer:
Honestly, African Americans do not have much direct connection with OBAMA:
1. Obama's mother was a white American
2. Obama's father was a pure African
3. Obama doesn't have slave blood
4. Obama was raised in Hawaii, which has less than .2 percent African Americans.
5. and finally, apart from folks from Chicago, it is very difficult for other folks to identify 5 major things Obama has done for African Americans through out United States.

Shapton, on the other hand has done so much and one has to be severely retarded not to recognise Shapton's positive impact in African Americans' society today; infact, many (white Americans) despise Shapton today not because of anything, but because of his incompressible support for blacks and his selfless/vigorous fight for human rights in United States.

Hence, I do not blame African Americans for taking their time to show their love for Obama; but I'm sure that sooner or later, they will come around to positively elevate this man to the top.

Let's hope for the best!

It is widely known that touts (agbero) are lawless and crave to operate under an home made/ generic constitution. Why not persuade Ribadu to take this position.
Bribery/ gift is legally collected daily with absolutely no question and he wouldn't have to present his asset to anybody.

I've tried my best to ignore this topic, because it isn't right to talk about someone who is no long here; there is nothing worst than judging another human being, especially when he or she is not here to defend himself or herself. So, may God forgive me in advance for my comment.

Question:Would MKO Abiola Have Made A Good President?

First, MKO, a one of a kind; extremely intelligent and a very courageous human being.
But as a president, I'm not sure if he was the right man.
I feel that with that many kids, many wives and enormous amount of baby mamas and unclaimed kids, it would have been more than impossible for MKO to stay focused and tackle all these difficult unique issues facing our nation.
Moreover, from his character, I also saw a little bit of lack of willpower; which I think is very relevant for a true leader to have and to succeed.

Therefore, my honest answer will be capital "NO"

He was a great man; may his soul continue to rest in peace!

If the man was so sincere, dedicated and intelligent as his followers continue to claim, then he should have stepped down like a man of integrity immediately he realized that OBJ was using him to fight his political opponents or enemies and not corruption.
If that had taken place, I can assure you that this man would have been backed by many in Nigeria today.

It is also ridiculous that his followers continue to point figure and blame everybody, but the main designer (Ribadu, himself) of the heavy down-fall.
If moving forward is our mission in Nigeria, then we must be honest to one another and call spade "spade", not spade "snake"
This kind of unreasonable attitude will definitely leave us behind for many years to come.

We must understand that Nigeria comes first and not anybody else.

Former chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Warri, Delta State, Barrister Ojo. Abijogun, yesterday took a critical look at the tenure of embattled chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, saying Nigerians should not shed tears for him.

According to him, Ribadu made himself a stooge in the immediate past administration of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, stressing that as a result he deserves whatever treatment he is getting from the present government.
Abijogun in an interview Daily Sun, lamented that Mallam Ribadu turned EFCC into his personal estate while in office, stressing that he refused to listen to wise counsel from eminent Nigerians.

"One of the grievous mistakes he made was that he thought himself was the EFCC hence he made himself more powerful than anyone else. Above all, he allowed himself to be used by ex-President Obasanjo’s administration", lamented Abijogun, stressing that he (Ribadu) courted trouble for himself.

The Warri based legal practitioner recalled with sadness Mallam Ribadu’s vitepurations against some former Governors who he called thieves, regretting that such language was not decent enough.
"Only recently he blackmailed some former governors less than eight months before they left office and called them thieves. He has not done anything and a lot of them whom he blackmailed, are going about on the streets unmolested," remarked the former NBA boss.

The legal luminary who also commented on the masterplan for the development of the Niger Delta, enjoined all the people in the region to be patient with President Yar’Adua as he will execute the project judiciously.

"I am using this opportunity to appeal to our youths to exercise restraint and embrace peace as no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of violence," he added

Do not only focus on bribe, there are other illegal gifts or ways that men of power could enrich themselves. No need to sweat Ribadu or anybody to prove anything.
We know how much Ribadu supposed to make as the EFCC boss, we also knew how much he had before he took the position
More information will come out at the right time; we will all have the opportunity to know who is fooling who.

From what I know, it will be a miracle for one to be close and do dirty work for OBJ and still remain clean.

I think this is absolutely the right time!
We need to evaluate the war against corruption in Nigeria and I think this is a decent and an effective strategy to get the best result.

I am not surprised that Kongi himself and a cream of the others jumped on the bandwagon to say Ribadu must be spared to allow him to continue the work, adjudged as good, he is doing. It is saying he does not need the experience of training and cross fertilisation that comes with meeting and exchanging views with diverse people. No, Kongi and the others are looking at the awon, the mask they cannot see the masquerade. They are saying that no-one else can direct the EFCC as efficiently as Ribadu is doing or that in the case of death or incapacity the outfit will grind to a halt.

Given the obvious falsity, is it normal that a good thing should grind to a halt? Isn’t it right that we grow a battery of other equally good personnel who will step into the shoes of those who want to leave or are compelled to leave on account of their utility to themselves or the state?
I have, in any case, not been impressed by the record of the Ribadu’s EFCC and I have not minced words.

It has been partial; dishonest, political and partisan. I have not forgotten his open empty threat in Ibadan. At the university, he mounted the podium and short of calling Adedibu and Alao-Akala vermins, he promised to ensure they would not rule good people of Ibadan. He gave the impression he had some damming dossiers on them. Thereafter the whip cracked down on his back and he simmered down like a soup in an earthen port. That is dishonest, political and partisan.
He probably must have forgotten his intimidation of Obasanjo’s political opponents - intra party- and otherwise. But nothing cultured may grow than the intimidation of Mike Adenuga. He invaded his place with a large body of operatives. He scared him that the latter moved his operational headquarters to London. Ribadu did not need to be told that Mike has a portfolio of businesses that is helping to stem unemployment in this country. He is, from oil exploration to oil marketing; from banking to telecommunication. Mike has gone outside this country to stamp his mastery on neighbouring Benin.

He has commissioned his Globacom network. Why should such an entrepreneur be hounded out of his country? Can we forget so soon that Mike’s intimidation was as a result of Abubakar Atiku’s prosecution? Ribadu might have done one or two good things, but he must have done a lot of bad ones. Now, we have created a monster that we cannot tame or have refused to tame. I see the way he has used the press and I am not impressed. And if he is as dispensable as our people are saying must we build our future on infallible man? Why can’t Nuhu go and perform his miracles somewhere else?

I hope it was not Ribadu who has fed the press with the close sources and reliable sources that they are quoting and insinuating his inevitability and threatening to quit the force? Nothing spoils a case as much as that. In the civil service you defer to the head to allow you the opportunity to rear your head. In today’s set-up, Mike Okiro is his professional boss and the president the commander-in-chief. He has already created bad blood between himself and the AGF.

And that has taken tact and deft handling to extricate the AGF. Now, why must the appointment of a single man cost so much dissension? I thought we were saying in the run-up to the election and the crucificaton of Atiku that it should not be up to the president to appoint such an important officer. In the hands of vindictive man, such as Obasanjo, there is no limit to the havoc he can be used for.

So much bad blood has been created in the polity on the Ribadu's matter that Ribadu will be advised to quietly go for his course, and on completion, await his next posting. It would not matter whether it is to the EFCC or somewhere else. He has enjoyed the limelight for so long that it may be difficult to operate otherwise. It will pay him to learn, as a lawyer, that you cannot convict without trial. He should go to learn to do more work and less talking.[/b]

Ribadu: Flamboyant lifestyle of EFCC operatives for probe

AS controversies rage on following the recent decision of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, to send the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on a one-year course, it has been established that the training was a ploy by the authority to probe the activities of the commission, following an upsurge in the number of police officers requesting to be posted to the commission, hence the IGP became curious about the need to probe the EFCC Chairman and the activities of his boys at the commission in the last four years.


Sources at the Police Headquarters in Abuja told Sunday Tribune that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, became curious about the happenings in the commission following endless requests from policemen to be redeployed to EFCC.



“Although the police headquarters had received catalogue of petitions from victims of EFCC, alleging corruption and other vices, but the decision to send the EFCC boss, Malam Nuhu Ribadu on one year study leave was because of recent happenings in which nearly everybody now wants to work with EFCC. The upsurge in requests for posting to the EFCC actually made the IGP to want to probe activities in the commission and the best way to do it is to ease out Ribadu. “It is not possible to probe the commission while Ribadu still presides over the place,” a highly placed police source told Sunday Tribune.
Sunday Tribune also gathered from the police headquarters that the actions and activities of some of the policemen attached to the EFCC did not help matters as some of them often behaved as superstars, thus making their colleagues to begin to envy them.

“The situation is terrible, the EFCC operatives among us behave like superstars. They have unlimited access to money, unlike their counterparts, hence everybody began to envy them.

Apart from that, Sunday Tribune learnt that the policemen attached to the EFCC are often accused of being rude to their superiors, “you see, most of the boys working with Ribadu have developed swollen heads. They don’t respect anybody, apart from their boss, and this is a force where you take order from your superior, irrespective of whether you work under him or not, but in the case of the EFCC boys, the reverse is the case, they only recognise Ribadu, hence their actions became a subject of discussion within the force and everybody has been working on how to cut their wings,” a source told Sunday Tribune.

Sunday Tribune learnt that from next month, the Police authority would begin a probe into activities of the commission and find ways of ensuring that the operatives of EFCC succumb to the regular police force ways of doing things.


Also, the flambouyant lifestyles of the men of the commission, sources said, has become a source of worry to the police authority. Sunday Tribune learnt that some of the policemen attached to the commission live far above their income, hence the authority is finding ways of correcting the rot.

“They are flambouyant. We know that the operatives of the commission are living well, compared with the average policemenand there is the tendency that they make money through the commission. And this, coupled with the fact that series of petition bordering on corruption and abuse of office were pouring in on a daily basis from members of the public,” the source said.

The source also cited a case between the EFCC men and a former state governor. Sunday Tribune gathered that the former governor, in a petition to the IGP lamented that the men of the commission stormed his house and carted away millions of naira and American dollars. The governor in the petition stated that the EFCC men dealt with him despite collecting huge sum of money from him.

Senator Defends FG on Ribadu

Apparently disturbed by controversy trailing the recent directive handed over to the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to proceed on a one-year course at the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru, the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Anthony Agbo has allayed fears that the nation's anti-corruption campaign could be thwarted with Ribadu’s exit.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after opening his constituency office in Abakaliki, yesterday, Agbo who represents Ebonyi North senatorial zone said[b] the removal of the EFCC chairman should not warrant the kind of controversy it is attracting, adding that rather than being worried, Nigerians should wait patiently to see who would be his successor.
While dismissing the insinuations in some quarters that Ribadu’s removal had some political undertones, Agbo made it clear that the NIPSS arrangement did not begin with Ribadu, and as such should not be celebrated.
Agbo said it was normal for the police authorities to send their senior officers to the Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) to enable them handle more demanding tasks.
"First and foremost, Ribadu is a policeman before becoming anything else and as such, he is answerable to the Inspector General of Police (IGP). If the police authority resolves to replace him with another person as the EFCC chairman, Nigerians should not see it as an attempt to halt the activities of the agency. When he is no longer there, the government would also transfer the same anti-corruption mandate to another person. We can only watch to see how the new person would fit into the EFCC shoes.
“The problem we are having now is because people see Ribadu as the beginning and end of EFCC. EFCC should not be seen as a personal thing. It is a body established by the law, so if government decides to put somebody else there, it should not be misconstrued to mean that Yar’Adua wants to truncate the anti-corruption battle. We still have other Nigerians who are capable of handling the Agency much better than Ribadu, what we simply need to do is to give those Nigerians the opportunity.
After all, those that drafted the law establishing the body did not have Ribadu in mind, but today, all of us are happy because he excelled,” he stated.[/b]

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu's Study Leave: Good Or Bad?

This is a very bad move; it isn't good for Nigeria or war against corruption.
Ribadu should have remained the EFCC boss, so that:
1. all corrupt leaders could continue to enjoy their stolen money while Ribadu and OBJ are used as an excuse to remain free
2. 3rd term bribery allegation could remain unresolved (never investigated)
3. the presidential money laundering jet could remain unresolved (never investigated)
4. Folks like Bode George could remain untouchable while others are being harassed
5. he (Ribadu) could also cover his own tracks while he indirectly enriches himself.
6. Nigeria could remain divided, visionless and eventually crumble into dust.
7. one man show could continue with illegal operations while the human rights of the citizens are being heavily compromised.
8. the new administration could spend 90% of their time running around baby sitting Ribadu's uncountable incomplete selective operations.
9. folks like Adedibu could continue to freely destroy lives of many families in Ibadan without being questioned.

Since the position happens to be honorary position why not make him (Ribadu) a life time EFCC boss. It will be more productive; afterall he is the only person that could fight this war effectively and efficiently; he's the only dedicated and honest Nigerian. The rest of the country are too dull and can not be reliable/ honest enough to get the job done.

Let us also make him the ICPC boss, this way the one man show based business is fully and widely implemented in Nigeria on a higher level.
This move will brighten up our lives and make us better nation through out the world.

It would make absolutely no sense to empower the foundation Ribadu has already established, this isn't the time to tap into other talent and move this war toward a fruitful direction.
