babakb: @BigBashiru, What I expect you to discuss here is the employability of Nigerians in other African Countries.
Whether we like it or not, the Americans, Europeans and Asians that are securing top jobs in Africa upskilled themselves and out competed us, and we have been very lazy to catch up with them here, we prefer to go to their Countries to take the lesser jobs they rejected
As a Nigerian, if you want to be employable across Africa and take up top jobs, you must at the very least:
Hold a Bachelors Degree Have a minimum of three years working experience Speak English, French and Arabic Fluently Be Skilled in Data Analysis Have Project Management Skills and Certifications. For STEM professions, have the required license to practice.
The non Africans taking up Jobs in Africa came in very prepared, they are not joking. Ur not correct (sorry to say)....the core objective of colonisation was not theft of resources but rather to systematically convince or indoctrinate Africans to think less of themselves and we can see the intergenerational effects of this indoctrination today. Majority of Africans regard Europeans as god. Simply put Europeans esp French white get those jobs because Africans give it to them even though they not fully qualified but becos deep down they believe the i.e. the Europeans are superior. |

erniok: Which silicon valley is reaping colonial spoils? See, accountability has really helped the west, they frown strongly on corruption unlike what we have here.
If they don't have strong institutions that deal with nasty issues that drag down the whole society, they wouldn't be where they are today. Western european savages colonized the native Indians are reaping the fruits today... |

I think Road travel is actually fine....
When air passenger volume decreases and their costs remain constant, many airlines will go out of business..... |

Contango: While you are partly right, I think you misunderstood his point of view. Revenue is a function of both sales volume (number of passengers) and price (cost of ticket). Not price alone. Giving that the cost of transporting the aircraft from one location to another with or without passengers is fairly constant, it would have been wise for them to make the increase at a reasonable rate…say 40k. This is an optimization problem and the parameters involved are sales volume and selling price. Ramping the price by additional 10k has greatly reduced their revenue and since the cost of transporting the aircraft remains the same, the result will be a drastic reduction in revenue hence reducing profit or increase even incurring losses. 40k = USD80....for relatively short distances.....it ain't cheap.... |

Colonial spoils that happened years ago, I bet your foolishness won't let you know the worth of silicon valley. Keep living in the past while the rest of the world moves on. Silicon valley is still reaping colonial spoils that belongs rightfully to the native Americans. The western Europeans are savages who need both aboriginal and African civilization so they can become civilized |

Nonpartisan1: Meanwhile, flight from Copenhagen to London (Return Ticket) is 481.91 (DKK)Danish Krones which is about 30,500 Naira.
Oh, it's usually cheaper during holidays like Easter and Christmas. It was about 13K Naira plus during Christmas.
Nigeria is too expensive for a poor country. I keep saying the main culprit is the N1000 note. That is what made the currency to lose its value. Price increases are caused by humans.... it's psychological.....ppl make most of what's easily available to them....if N1000 is avail then price jumps will also be in 000s.... N10000 is a lot of money abroad but what we are seeing in in Nigeria is that money has no value again in part due to N1000 note in circulation.... |

Rugaria: Basically, Buhari is about to kill the airline industry too? I hope you all know that these are jobs, businesses and investments that are about being decimated by a totally inebriated president, who doesn't know his left from his right. The soaring forex rates and the increasing cost of aviation fuel contributed to this. In all this, all the president is interested in, is "grazing routes" and his brothers in zinder and marada in Niger republic.. Nigerias borders extended to niger before the French redrew it in the 1800s. |

FERNANDEZISBACK: No one is talking about most powerful.. The sanctions imposed so far? — Of course, it might survive. The sanctions do not try to destroy Russia’s economy. They limit its growth. So, while other economies grow through trade, investment, technology transfer, etc, Russia’s economy will miss on some trade, much of foreign investment, a good deal of technology transfer, and so on. While in the 1960s, Russia (via the USSR) controlled a huge fraction of world industrial production and money flows (40% if I am not mistaken), it now controls around 2% (which is comparable to its population as a fraction of the world's population). This drastic change is largely due to fast economic growth in China and India, as well as to the loss of Russia's influence in Eastern Europe and ex-USSR republics. In the next 10-20 years, Russia won't be able to significantly exceed the 2% mark, and may even lose ground..
That's what sanction does reduce you bit by bit.. Your analysis is not correct but let's not argue. Africa Russia trade and relations has been growing steadily so much so that the west are jealous. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: USA, EU & UK Impose First Stage Sanctions On Russia by BigBashiru: 5:32am On Feb 22, 2022 |
chucks4sure: NATO invaded Iraq and Libya and destroyed these countries and assisted rebels in Syria with everything they could to overturn a legitimate government of Syria. All those countries are Russia allies.
What of Afghanistan they also invaded it and put their cronies there. We have eastern and western bloc. Russia and China are the big eastern bloc countries plus other countries.
The western bloc comprises NATO mainly. The western bloc has upper hand because of the collapse of Soviet union. NATO was formed during the cold war between USA and Soviet union Some European countries entered alliances with America for protection in case of war, they were afraid of Soviet union headed by Russia.
Ukraine was part Soviet republic that has borders with Russia. Now Ukraine wants to be a member of NATO. That means America and NATO can now station thier Army and war base at the backyard of Russia. Russia can not allow that no matter what. And is ready to go into full scale war. Remember that Russia is a very powerful nuclear war head producer and has a number that can erase the whole of NATO countries. China too has a very big number of nuclear war heads has entered alliance with Russia. NATO can't go to war because of Ukraine that is not a member of NATO. During the cold war Cuba having borders with America( separated by water ) allowed Soviet Union to plant 72 nuclear war heads at their borders and were pointed towards America. America wanted to invade Cuba that would have led to 3rd world war. Soviet dismantled the war for sake of peace. Now America and his allies NATO is gradually urging Ukraine to become a member of NATO. Ukraine having borders with Russia, can led to unfortunate events.
Economically Russia has an edge in the area of gas which most NATO countries depend on them for supplies. That is why Germany and France are not supporting the sanctions drumming by America and Uk.
Ukraine should forget NATO membership for now for sake of peace. If not they will lose their sovereignty. I want to educate some people that don't know what is happening but will want to comment ignorantly. Before you begin to condemn Russia understand what is happening. Russia is fighting for their security. Russia is also more morally upright than the West. |

There are so many jobs especially outside Lagos - problem is Nigerians just love to complain. Flutterwave just had a job fair in Lagos few days ago. and jobs are now being given on merit in lagos. Nigerians have ECOWAS passport which means they can go seek work in 14 african countries.... so many ghana taxi drivers in lagos. once you apply and get for your ecowas travel certificate you can go work in all ecowas countries. First off you free to travel to wherever you want. It's not the objective of this thread to tell you what to do.
Why dont we recognize that there are great travel and work destinations within Africa??
Travel Plenty oyinbo ppl are trooping to African countries to vlog from Tanzania to Morocco to Rwanda and posting their enjoyment on youtube- Nigerians only want to go to UK and US - them use UK swear for una?? There are so many wonderful African countries. Even Air Peace now travels to many African destinations.
Work As I write Turkey is seriously lobbying africa same as China; EU are trying to force themselves on AU seeking "alliance" but Afruca Union say they only want "Partnership" and plenty other countries. Business is booming in africa and jobs are inevitable. And these African countries don't hv the high living costs of Europe. Yet una dey brainwashed - if it's not Canada or USA ur not going. Canada is one dead country- where u guys got the reputation/impression that it's good I don't know. Yet u guys continue to troop in. Canada is a very expensive high tax cold country where its difficult to save. Many African countries are better than all dem Cyprus.
Destinations in Africa for Work Kenya South Africa Ghana just next door Rwanda Nigeria (so many good jobs in and outside lagos) |

IyaOmo1: Dear Great Nairalanders
I am in urgent need of your advice on a decision I am about to make that could shape my life and my young family in about few months from now.
I am currently running successful businesses which give me a steady minimum of N1.5M per month with a potential for expansion. I have been nursing the idea of going to UK on a study Visa by September this year with the hope that I can get a well paying job that could surpass my current earnings here in naijja. I also intend to keep my naija business running but we all know trusting people with kind of investment can be tricky and risky.
What assurance do I have about earning more and having a better life in UK? What happens to my businesses I already built up in Naija? What happens to my properties here in naija?
Your advice will be of great help at this critical decision making moment of my life. Thank you Inferiority complex and colonial brainwashing has eaten deep into the heart and mind of Africans. There's nothing in the UK. Nigeria is actually better. |

This is simply not true.... I used to believe but I sympathize with you. The primary objective of colonization was not theft of resources but to make you think less of yourself. The wars and instability in africa is sponsored by the west. Anywhere around the world is unstable if resources don't reach citizens including UK and USA. There was a time there was fuel shortage in Britain and the British island SAVAGES started acting the exam same way poor Nigerians act. It's not a racist issue. And there are countries in Africa more developed than western Europe. Even many parts of Lagos and Abuja are better than western Europe Stop worshipping western Europeans. They are savages. |
