I don't know if the author of this post meant to say that the men in question are billionaires or millionaires. Or perhaps that they are dollar and pound sterling millionaires. In today's Nigeria to become just a millionaire is not really a big deal considering that one million naira is just about £4000.00 (four thousand pound) or about $6000.00 (six thousand US dollars). I believe that perhaps millions of Nigerians can boast of being naira millionaires even people engaged in legitimate businesses or trades including Nigerians in diaspora. Besides just having a few million naira does not guarantee anybody a comfortable lifestyle in Nigeria unless we are talking about millions of pounds and dollars. |
OBJ is really a man most Nigerians love to hate and hate to love. |
I de laugh!! |
Why do the northerners always feel that they are the right people to provide strong leadership? They have to get it into their heads that they are not stronger than any other tribe in Nigeria. Their time has come and gone, when they used several military regimes headed by the northerners to ruin the economic, social, political and educational systems of the country. Those days are come and gone and we are witnessing a new era in Nigeria but only the northerners refuse to embrace this change. Shakespare once said "Oh ye gods, you make the weak most strong; oh ye gods the tyrant do defeat", But that was then in the Shakespearean time and not now. |
Buhari is not only an Islamic fundamentalist, he is also a ruthless tribalist. He overthrew Shagari's civilian regime for no good reason and had no policies that could move Nigeria forward apart from his "War against Indisciple" slogan. His main reason for taking over power was to prevent Dr Alex Ekwueme (an Ibo man) from becoming the next Nigerian president after Shagari. He can never become president of Nigeria even if he chooses to make the Pope or even Jesus Christ his running mate. |
GEJ has accomplished a lot more in less than one year than Yaradua ever accomplished in three years but his critics cannot relate to that fact. All the unrest and sabotage in Nigeria are coming from the north because northerners feel that it is their birthright to govern. Newsflash, the time of northerners is up and God not Allah is shaping up Nigeria polity and a lot more people are more aware of what is happening and what had happened in the country, thanks to modern technology. |
Naijacann, I will need to finalize my own deal before I can help you. I intend to travel to Nigeria as soon as my business is finalized in UK and my shipment is due for Nigeria. I live in UK but do my business between UK and Nigeria. I have been calling my agent to ensure that the said plots of land are kept for me until I return. So when I go and inspect the land and do all necessary searches with Ministry of lands, Owerri, I will decide on buying the land if everything is OK. Buying or selling land is not something to be rushed, care must be taken to ensure that we don't run into the hands of crooks. I was in Nigeria a couple of months ago and was shown 3 plots of land at Irette @ N1.5million per plot. After my enquiries, I found that the land had a problem as it falls within areas designated for government development. I spent some money for the investigation but I thank God that I did not rush or else I could have lost N4.5million because once payment is made, it becomes a big problem to get your money back. However, I have 5 plots of land situate at Ogbaku, along Owerri - Onitsha road. It is on a very good site along the express road and there are strong indications that Imo State university would be be moved to a site at Ogbaku on the opposite side of the road facing the land. I am selling the Ogbaku land at N1.0million per plot. If you are interested you can contact me ASAP or you can recommend someone who is interested. This is my personal land, so you won't be charged any agent's fees. |
Samokprpty, I am quite familiar with Umuguma area of Owerri. As a matter of fact I just sold two plots of land I had in Umuguma a couple of months ago. I was having problems with government not allowing me to build the type of structure I want, so I sold the two plots of land. I need three plots of land around the same area or any other area around like Egbu road, Orlu road, PH road (but not Avu) or MCC/Uratta road. My agent in Nigeria has just informed me about 3 plots available at N1.4million per plot but I am trying to get them even cheaper. I am a bona-fide son of Imo state and I know my way around, so I can always get a very good deal if I have the time to scout around. |
Available!! |
Does anybody have 3 plots of land at Owerri or surrounding areas for sale? |
I am interested in plots of land in PH or Owerri. |
I don't encounter PHCN staff very often so I have little business with them. Nigerian Police is the most annoying, corrupt and incompetent force than I have encountered throughout my entire experience with police force in other countries both developed and undeveloped. When they see me driving in any of my big jeeps, they will never ask for my particulars, the worst they will say is "anything for the boys"? However anytime I drive any of my small cars, I get harassed and asked to park and show my particulars and so on. One day I was driving along Lagos Shagamu express road and another driver was behind me with a newly registered car I was just trying to take home. I got a lot of harassment that I had to ask them if "it was a crime for anyone to buy or register a new car in Nigeria"? However the car was not even a new car as such but a car I had used for nearly 10 years in UK and then I decided to bring it home. When I felt so uncomfortable with their constant harassment I decided to call on my Commissioner of Police friend and had him speak to his men anytime they stopped me to ask for bribe. However my Commissioner of Police friend asked me not to be too harsh with the policemen. He said that I should not have asked the policemen if "it was a crime for someone to buy a new car (or Tokumbo) in Nigeria. Overseas, nobody either the police or civilians even your neighbours cares whether you buy a new car or not. It's not a big deal because almost everybody can afford to buy one. I have never been stopped by police in either UK, Germany or USA where I have driven different cars on different ocassions. Nigerian police is a sham and the grassroot of corruption as they display their corrupt practice openly on the streets making it a norm. |
Very kind gesture from Fashola. However are we not blessed with enough resources and professionals in Nigeria to have such hospitals that could cater for the healthcare needs of Nigerians and even people from other parts of the world? Gone are the days when Indians had to come to Nigeria to seek for greener pastures; when the Naira was worth between 66 to 70 Indian Rupees. I have observed that the Indian currency has not lost its value from what it used to be in the 1980s when Nigerian students living in India were looked upon as lords because of the purchasing power of the Naira relative to the Indian Rupees. |
Kind-hearted people like Fashola are very hard to come by in our country where some people have billions of dollars of ill-gotten wealth but only turn blind eye and deaf ear to the needy in our society. |
Just a point of correction to fstranger1. I know Soludo as UNN graduate and not Uniben. He graduated from UNN (University of Nigeria Nsukka) in 1983 with a first class honours degree in Economics before pursuing his postgraduate studies and professional career. I must tell you that UNN standard as at that time could compete even with Oxford standard if not better. I too studied at UNN when the standard was indeed very high. I have also sat in the same class with a graduate of Oxford university during my post graduate studies in a top university in London and I did not find anything special about the Oxford graduate in my class. I even asked him what is so special about Oxford university and he told me that he did not see anything different between Oxford university and University of London. All the hype about Oxford university is not real. When you compete in the same class with graduates from Oxford university, you will find out that they don't even measure up. This is from my own personal experience. Academic-wise I feel that Soludo is by far brighter that Aganga. Oxford university is only great by its name, their graduates are not better in any way. |
IBB is the most criminal-mined ruler Nigeria ever had. He could not stop the killings during his wreckless rule of Nigeria, instead he masterminded the killings. It is very easy for people to make criticisms especially when they have ulterior motives. |

Thank you for your response. Right now I am in UK and would be in Nigeria by next month. You can also reach me on frankjoe344@gmail.com. I sent you an email with that email address regarding the said land but I got no reply from you. |
I do not condone, support or justify fraud, corruption in office and embezzlement of public money by any means or by any person. But why is it that when an Ibo person or a person from any of the South East minority tribes commits even the smallest crime in Nigeria, he or she is very easily questioned and exposed? But if the person is from other privileged tribes, he or she is exonerated or covered up. What happened to N52Billion, which Bankole wasted in useless overseas trips in just two years and has anybody convicted him of any crime? I even heard that the former speaker whom Bankole took office from was relieved of her office for misappropriating a fraction of a billion naira. However she was removed from office simply because she is from the South East, only to be replaced by someone who steals in multiples of billions of naira. She would have been covered up or protected if she was a Yoruba or Hausa woman. Ogbulafor was forced to resign from office for misappropriating about N100million, which is nothing compared with what many senators lavish in a few months or weeks. Many people have become glorified sacred cows, fat cats and untouchables in Nigeria simply because they are from one tribe or another even when it is more than obvious that they have looted billions or even trillions of naira from government coffers. I do not think that our approach is right when it comes to flushing out corrupt people from our country. Only a few vulnerable people who do not have the immunity and protection that the big untouchable Nigerians enjoy are used as sacrificial lambs. It is very regrettable and unjust. |
If I confirm that the land is genuine and I like the location, what kind of discount will I get for buying all the 11 plots of land? |
I have noticed for a very long time that onions is very expensive in Nigeria. Perhaps I will start considering bringing my onions from UK whenever I am coming to Nigeria. It is possible to buy a whole bag of onions for £3 in UK (about N720), which could last a family of up to seven people for a whole month or more. But I discover that it is not possible to manage N500 worth of onions for a family of seven for one week in Nigeria. Is it because it is produced in the north? Perhaps if crude oil was to be located in the northern part of Nigeria, the cost of petrol (particularly in the south)could be anybody's guess. I do not understand why what we produce in Nigeria should be more expensive than if it were imported from outside the country. |
Is the area developed with electricity, water and tarred road access? |
I have listened to that guy on few occassions and feel that his utterances amount to mere gibberish and he was a complete incommunicado. |

Only when we start questioning, arresting and imprisoning or even killing all past and present leaders, looters and their associates who we know did not have much before their connections with government, can we be said to be serious about combating fraud in Nigeria. As long as we continue to let our economy destroyers and looters go about freely and even boast about their properties as if they truly worked for their so called acquisitions, as long as these people are hailed and even worshipped in our society, as long as these people continue to act as our role models, then fraud, corruption and ill-gotten wealth will continue to be endemic in Nigeria and development will continue to elude us. So long shall we continue to be mocked and ridiculed all over the world and so long shall our shameless state of affairs continue to haunt and shame some of us who abhor the deplorable state of the nation. |
Finally Nigerian electorate appears to be getting it right. |
Just be very prayerful and ask God to give you a husband. If possible belong to a prayer group, church or organisation where people share their problems with each other. |
Thanks Paulsan for your Godly advise. |
Why should anybody go to IBB University? Nothing good can ever come out of BADamosi because it has bad entrenched in it. Something good comes out GOODluck. |
