1) It's the job of the Brigade of Guards to protect the president and his family.

3) What you are trying to get at is the screening that's done for presidential guards and the processes that are involved in guarding the first family. The screening ensures that the guards are loyal, so that they do not compromise the first family's security after they finish their tour of duty.

They processes are designed in such a way that they change, so that a former guard would not know what changes have been made after he left the position and he won't be able to compromise the first family's security.

4) The US Secret Service actually has other roles apart from protecting the president. The Secret Service is actually like the US' version of the EFCC. Their original job is to fight financial crimes. However, they were assigned the task of guarding the president and other senior government officials after President William McKinley was killed in the early 1900s (I believe it was in 1901)

5) Some former presidential guards actually return to the job of fighting financial crimes after their tour of duty at the White House has ended.

6) The US also has special military units that guard or provide services to the president and the first family.

Not withstanding the fact the wife of the president is not an elected officer, the presidential guards are entitled to being secured due to the exposure from their husband or father being an elected officer.

The role of the presidential guards brigade is too elite or technical while using the DSS may be too over the top to serve as immediate bodyguard or ADC. Special agents trained in that role should be used and their role should straddle both the military and civil areas similar to the US Special Agents (they're not from FBI or CIA or the Military).

The problem however is the overbearing attitude of these guards. A Major guarding a president may end up being more powerful than the Chief of Army Staff sef

Without an official appointment letter, your salary is not sure but it might be a wake up call for you to startup something on the side. You can also work part time for your Microfinance bank as a side hustle while at the government house.
If not I would advise you stay put at your Microfinance bank except you're 100% the SA will not throw you under the bus.

Hello Nairalanders! Please I'm in serious need of your candid advice. Let me go straight to the point.

I've been going through a delimma for some days now. I'm presently working with a microfinance bank and i earn about 40k after tax. Recently, I was offered a job in government house with a salary slightly above my present salary.

In my present place of work, there is job security and I learn a lot on the job although the salary ain't much. In the new job, there is free accommodation but no job security because I'm being employed by the SA (special assistant) to the governor and i won't be getting any official appointment letter.

The problem now is, I'm stuck between the two. I don't know if I'm to go with the new offer or continue with my present job. I don't want to take a decision that I might regret tomorrow. My fear is that I might be sacked at any time because I'm not employed directly by the government but the SA.

I've been thinking about it and i still don't know the best decision to take. So, I decided to seek advice from nairaland cause I know I can get good advice here.

Please I will appreciate your sincere advice and contributions.

I think a special armed protection force drawn up from the armed forces should be created to provide immediate protection personnel to the president, vice president and their families.

The practice of using serving members of the forces is not ideal as they can be withdrawn back to their primary station bearing with them critical and secret informations about their principals which may someday lead to a security breach

Where did these new cases visit that resulted in them contracting the virus? Shouldn't NCDC do the following to avoid others contracting the virus?

1. Profile all cases to ascertain where they visited
2. Lockdown those places and decontaminate them?
3. Request everyone who visited those places to self-isolate
4. Step up preventive measures at other places susceptible to contamination?

But no, we don't get to hear where they visited nor do we hear of any places being locked down. Initially we hear of hospitals with infected staff being locked down, why not public places? Jabi Mall has been locked down because of the illegal concert and decontamination expected to take place there ...why not these ones?

Besides ....how did places like Gombe etc without Airports getting infected during the lockdown? Are we sure what they're passing for COVID19 is not actually normal cold flu resulting from the rains? Or malaria fever? Something is definitely wrong.
