Very sad! Politics and tribal sentiments has finally reared its ugly head in our church. What does having to be an indigenous person got to do with a church appointment. If he cannot speak their dialect, surely there would be folks who can and interpret. Same way the missionaries of old survived.

braimeddy:
See them. Just because an ipob man is not from IMO state, he was rejected. This is what we re going to be expecting when they eventually have Biafra as a country. No unity among them in anyway. The Bishop of rivers state is an Akwa ibom man. Yet u didn't hear any noise from the rivers people.

Travel › Re: Lawyer & His Uber Driver Stuck In Lagos Flood (Photos) by bigtt76(f): 8:52am On Jun 30, 2017
Big Abuja lawyer like go de lodge for Ajah-Ilaje con de blame Lagos! You left all the hotels for Lekki Phase One go stay for yonder.... Sorrray o!

That road you got stuck in is no longer in use. It was alternative route when the bridge was being built.

CastedDude:
A Nigerian lawyer identified as Firsts Baba Isa, based in Abuja has narrated his "horrible" experience in Lagos after falling in love with the commercial city. The man and his Uber driver got stuck in a flood after deciding to take a short-cut to the airport. Read what he shared on his social media page yesterday.

Lagos does it to me again.

I remember sometime last year when I came to Lagos and had to literally swim through a flood to find my way to court. Since then I have been to Lagos several times and I thought those days are gone for good. I thought Lagos finally decided to be nice to the Ninja Lawyer.

On Tuesday I waited for 5 hours in the Abuja airport before getting to Lagos. A 6pm flight became 7:30pm and finally we took off by 9pm or thereabouts for Lagos. We landed way pass 10pm and by the time I got to Lekki where I will be lodging Wednesday was saying goodbye to Tuesday.

Well, this wasn't entirely Lagos fault, so I didn't allow it affect our relationship. I started questioning my decision to fall in love with Lagos when on my way to court on Wednesday morning I got caught up in a nasty traffic.

I knew it. This traffic will not allow my relationship with Lagos to flourish. I gnashed my teeth throughout the uber ride to court and by the time I got there court was already sitting. Hay God!

Luckily I wasn't late for my matter.

After court, I and Lagos made up. I hooked up with some friends and proteges. We sat out for lunch and a beautiful discussion. Yeah, Lasgidi, this is how to be romantic in a relationship.

Then Lagos...

This morning I booked an uber ride, heads to the airport to catch my 11am flight, then Lagos started happening to me.

My oversabi driver started looking for short cuts to beat traffic. Me, what and where do I know na? I sat down there giving tacit approval: go guy, go; by all means dodge the gaddem traffic!

We negotiated a bend and a massive body of water appeared before us in the middle of a dilapidated street. My driver drove to what he considered the side of the body of water and roared in.

Right in the middle of that big dirty body of water, the engine died without even giving us the respect of coughing the traditional last cough cars cough before they die.

Before you can say Juliet, the car was already flooding. The driver got out and swam to safety leaving me in the car. I was shouting for him to come open the door for me before that bastard realized that he has mistakenly locked me in.

I swam out too. Shoe, trousers and all. We got my laptop bag and suit case out before water could get to it but my other bag in the boot wasn't that lucky. It was dripping water when we brought it out. My court files, my diary, my books are in this bag.

I started to laugh because I wanted to cry.

We paid some guys to push the car out of the water and another uber came to pick me up to the airport. The race to catch my flight began in the wicked Lagos traffic. God even saved me from a terrible accident.

My driver nearly ran into a parked car, thinking it was a moving car. He missed it by the whiskers. Hay God. I begged him to take it easy. It was clear I will miss my flight anyways.

Then I prayed to God for the flight to be delayed. Just as I said "Amen", I got a text: the 11am flight has been shifted to 2pm. If you see the way I celebrated God in that car ehn, the driver just weak.

You may call this coincidence. You might have a scientific or whatever explanation for this occurrence, that one is your own. All I know is that I prayed for that flight to be shifted and it was shifted immediately. Praise God.

But, seriously, those of you who love Lagos, how do you survive in such an abusive relationship?

Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, recently disclosed that Nigeria will begin to export Yam to other parts of the world beginning from today June 29th.

According to Ogbeh, this will serve as possible means of economic diversification and also as a way of generating foreign exchange.

These photos show some Tubers of yams being packaged ahead of their exportation to countries where they are needed.

They probably thought because you're black, then you must have broken into the white guy's home hence holding you and others hostage undecided That cold nor go funny shaaa ....your blokos go don nearly frozen tongue

SmartMugu:
While you're right to an extent, these white officers often over-exercise their powers. I was a victim of such treatments in Detroit, Michigan about 9 years ago, and I thought they were going to kill me.
My neighbor held me and two others hostage pointing his gun at us, the police came to the house, probably over 15 police vehicles and one negotiator finally talked him into letting his hostages go.
It happened on New Years day. It was snowing badly. He let us leave one at a time, the first two of his hostages were white, they got out of the house and got blankets because it was cold outside. I was the last hostage he let out, as soon as I stepped out, almost 7 police officers pounced on me, threw me in the snow, holding me like they just did this man and eventually put me in handcuffs. I was telling them I didn't do anything, that I was just a victim. They didn't listen to me, I thought they were going to kill me. It was freaking cold, I only had on a pair of boxers and a t-shirt before my neighbor came to knock on my door pointing a gun at me. Yet these many policemen pounced on me in cold snow, holding my head with their collective weights on me and screaming "Stop resisting". I was screaming I wasn't resisting, I was already in handcuffs, how could I possibly be resisting? I just didn't want to die of suffocation.

Eventually they bundled me into one of their cars and started asking me about my relationship with the gun man. I told them he's my neighbor, he lived in the flat below and I stayed in the floor above. He just came knocking on my door, when I opened it he pointed his shotgun at me and walked me to his flat. That was when I saw two other people there crying. I knew nothing about what made him do that because we had lived together for over 2 years without any problems.

They double checked my story with the other two hostages and confirmed my legal status in the US. They then apologized took me off the cuffs and told me I could go, but I couldn't go to my house because it was a crime scene.

My neighbor ended up getting shot, he didn't die though and got locked up for 8 years for that event.
For me, after they let me go, I had no where to go, my house was taped around because it was a crime scene. I was roaming around streets in boxers, a t-shirt, and bare feet in cold winter. They wouldn't even let me get in my car because they said that was a part of their investigation. I felt so humiliated. Why were the other hostages given blankets and I was made to walk around like a mad man?

So, sometimes it's not people's faults, the police just make it seem like you're resisting for their own planned accolades. In my case, I never did anything wrong but I was treated like an animal.

Politics › Re: Biafra: Why Are Obasanjo, IBB, Others Not Talking On Agitation? – Doyin Okupe by bigtt76(f): 5:48am On Jun 23, 2017
Exactly my thoughts too. Obasanjo and others voiced out against Shariah implementation back then in the northern part of the country, did it solve any thing? No!

Truth is that the people are so frustrated now and they listen to anything people tell them that is against the government of the day.

If only that young lazy boy thinking of going to Lagos to sell roasted cashew nuts in traffic realizes that his own people are the architect of his predicament and face them, he would continue to live in the illusion that creating a new country would benefit him.

When we agitate that my tribe is not a minister or that, those you elected, what have they done for you to better your life? Nothing instead they flaunt their children school in abroad in our face but we still cry and beg for them to be appointed SMH

chuksanambra:
I remember when the Obi of Onitsha spoke cautioning Igbos about Biafra, some Igbos here on Nairaland insulted the Obi and called him names.

Now, Doyin wants Segun and Ibrahim to talk about Biafra after the ipods have insulted the Obi of Onitsha.

If they won't listen to their elders, what makes you think they'll listen to others?
