Don't mind the idiotic press media, na so dem go make Lagos IRS, FIRS and Anambara IRS to begin pursue dem upandan

LegendHero:
Nice one.

But I think the Nigeria media need some schooling in their reporting.

The $100m Facebook grant will be shared among multiple business and infact there are over 30,000 business or so that can qualify when Facebook announced the grant last year.

So these EscrowLock guys will get the cash & ad grant not even up to $10k at maximum but this report made it look like it’s $100m for a single company.

Imagine giving $100m each to 30,000 small businesses, how much is even Zuckerberg worth to start with?

In the USA here I think the grant is $4000 for small businesses ($2500 in cash and $1500 in optional ad credits). I don’t know the actual amount for Africa.

FamilyRe: Cutting The Connection Between My Wife And Her Male Besty by bigtt76(f): 7:24am On May 26, 2021
If I may ask, how old are you and or how many years are you older than your wife? How old is her bestie?

I ask this because babes from the age 20-25 are quite difficult to manage and this means you still got like 3 - 5 more years of her gara gara to put up with before the coin finally drops from her eyes.

Sit with her and ask her what is it that she misses in her bestie that you can help step in.

Like someone mentioned above, possible they are not sexual and possible they are, how you manage them is going to determine how long your marriage lasts.

Don't try to be too bossy or husbandy... be a friend and a lover to her.

Nacoss25:
Good morning everyone. I am a young man newly married to a 22 yr old lady. our marriage is just 2 months old.

Before I met my wife in 2019, she has this male best friend who they have been best friends even before I met her though my wife is a social and jovial person always cheerful, she easily makes friends wherever she finds herself that's her nature and kind of personality.

Right now her friendship with that her male friend is what am becoming uncomfortable with right now because of the so much attention she is lavishing on him. I have complained to her that I am not comfortable with her closeness with the guy but she is seeing it that am trying to cut her off from her friends.

One interesting part of the whole thing is, since we got married the guy has been trying to distance himself from her a bit knowing too well that she is now married but my wife is even the one doing all she could to keep the friendship going the way it has been going. 2 days ago I and my wife were together she called the guy complaining bitterly how he has been distancing himself from her.

My people what do you think I should do to cut down that connection or will the friendship grow week by the day on it's own? My wife is refusing to understand that in marriage there are things u will have to let go.

WebmastersRe: I Am A Pharmacy Student Struggling To Break Into The World Of Coding by bigtt76(f): 1:57pm On May 24, 2021
Stop beating yourself, you're trying your very best. Coding requires much more than just knowing where to apply the appropriate syntaxes or commands as it relates to any particular coding language. It requires a creative, analytical and problem-solving mindset. Above all, it requires patience.

You mentioned having to go back to and forth YouTube... Yes you can't do away with help and that's why you have sites like Stackoverflow and other web forums/communities. You can't avoid this even as an experienced developer.

Lastly, don't try to think once you've learnt coding, you can automatically code the next unicorn or startup product.. No you can't but you can try.

Do you need mentor at this stage? No you don't you only need to motivate yourself and get going what you need to do. Mentors can only encourage but can't knock the knowledge into you. What I'm saying is that you can get the best coder to mentor you but he can never make you the best coder if you lack the ability to do so.

austinceasar:
I am a pharmacy student who is struggling to break into the world of programming...I have downloaded and studied lot of videos on YouTube and i do make use of the free lessons offered by freecodecamp. But all the hours i've put into learning how to code seems to been in vain, as I can't apply most things I've learnt to do something remarkable in real life. I'm sincerely appealing to a programmer who will like to take me under his wings as an apprentice.

I will fovever be grateful for the guidance.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Didn't Attend Yaradua's Burial, See why (Photo) by bigtt76(f): 6:27pm On May 23, 2021
Don't mind people complaining - Obasanjo didn't attend Murtala's funeral in 1976 when he was assassinated and Obasanjo had to be sworn in as Head of State.

Obasanjo later visited the family in Kano like Jonathan did to Ya'ardua's family

Simplyleo:
Since the death of COAS in a plane crash, several conspiracy theories have emerged and still emerging.

Also, meanings are being read to Buhari's absence in the burial of the late COAS.

The question now is; why exactly was GEJ absent from the burial of Yaradua? Was GEJ quarreling with Yaradua or he was simply heartless?

Here is the the reason.

On Mr President's absence yesterday at his COAS's burial?
The most reasonable, and I dare say, most incontrovertible answer is this:

For a President to be at any funeral or event outside the presidential villa, it must have at least 48 hours for intelligence operatives to do surveillance and clearance before the President can go based on the Security report.

In a case where the COAS and his team died yesterday and had to be hurriedly buried today, you don't expect the President to go there where there is no security clearance.

The minimum time of 48 hours wasn't met. In insecurity parlance, funeral ceremonies are where politically exposed persons face more risks.

GEJ could attend Azazi’s burial because it wasn't done within 24 hours.

Security issues and securing the president are not done by emotions or sentiments. There’re laid down procedures that must be followed.

Copied!

ME: Remember that Jonathan didn't also attend Yaaradu's burial which came within 24 hours of his taking oath of office. Jonathan wasn't quarrelling with Yar'Adua; must be because of the same protocols.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What A Friend Did To Me Last Week. by bigtt76(f): 7:48am On May 23, 2021
Sad and thank God you arrived back safely home.

To others who may be in the same shoes as yours, you don't just buzz a friend after many years and seek help. You should first re-establish contact with them and try to get back to that level you guys were on before, and then try make your request subtly to see if they are genuine or not.

While it was a good thing you decided on going back, if you had made your own enquires prior to leaving on your trip to Lagos, perhaps you would've gotten an opportunity you never anticipated.

Always investigate your friends' claims before taking them for their word... Some might be mad sef or into what you would never expect them to be doing.

Cpossibility:
What a friend did to me last week.

Just like in my case, so many graduates in the country are today, traumatized, depressed or even suicidal. Nothing is more depressing than seeing oneself jobless after several years of graduation. More annoying is when there's no finance to even start a business no matter how brilliant the business idea could be. If I have capital or even a collateral to use and get some money somewhere, I would rest completely from job hunting.

My ordeal.
Few months ago, I stumbled on a friend on Facebook whom we were school mates back in secondary school. His parents resided outside the state which he normally came back on school resumption and would go back during holidays.

On meeting him on Facebook, taking a look at his pictures, he's obviously doing well and claimed he's working with an international NGO. I told him my pains which is unemployment. Immediately, he was happy and telling me not to worry again that with his connections here and there, I'll get a job. His promise was to fix me either in the NGO, an insurance company, factory work or any other place of which he has links and connections.

We talked extensively and negotiated my movement and arrived I should come over last week. The plans was to stay in his 2 bedroom apartment and until 3-4 months when I can rent my own place. So I moved from Rivers state to Lagos Monday last week with just 16k on me. En route Lagos, we were keeping in touch so to know how closer I am and until I got to Lagos (God is Good Motors park) around 8pm. I called him that I have arrived the park and he said he was coming to pick me.

Long story short, that was the last time his number went. Initially, I thought it was network, or may be temporary low battery. I kept dialling the number through out the night but it never went again. Of course I had no choice than to sleep in the park. Woke up the next morning hoping his number would go but still same. I had no body else in Lagos nor knowing any where as that was my first time in Lagos. So I was just roaming around the park the whole day like a lost sheep, hungry, frustrating and pains but still hoping for his call but none came. When I tried reaching via Facebook and realized I was blocked, that was when it dawned on me that I have to start going back immediately. Already, transport fare from PH to Lagos finished about N10,500. So I was left with about 4k on me. At that point in the evening, I knew my best bet as I said earlier was to find my way back immediately but I didn't even have enough cash for my return. I had no option than to start telling people about my predicament and appealed for help to raise fund to return home the next morning. I was mocked and laughed at while some were asking to buy my phone at a very ridiculous amount. But then at that point, I could have sold it at the ridiculous amount but the phone was the only medium of communication with people especially my mum who was already worried over the journey right from the onset. I kept approaching people to help me and until one man graciously completed the money for me and I paid for my return.

On reaching home, I did nothing than thanking God that at least my case wasn't like that of late Iniobong Umoren. At least I came back home alive...which is the most important thing. But what I don't understand is why the guy chose to be that wicked to me forgetting this world is a very small place. I mean if there was never a job, why did he have to put me through that? Anyways, I have since moved on. Not even swearing/cursing him but leave everything for God. Such is life!

Fellow nairalanders, that is the dairy of a Nigerian job seeker. This leave me with the question, "will Nigeria ever be good for ordinary Nigerian?"
PoliticsRe: The NAF Plane Landed In Kaduna Before Crashing & Going Up In Flames by bigtt76(f): 12:50pm On May 22, 2021
Correct. It may also be as a result of flooded runway to caused by rain

JeffreyJunior:
If it skidded off the runway then there must have been a problem with the landing and yes, bad weather can cause such.

It's safe to wait for the full report of accident bureau to know what really went wrong. About exploding, yes planes can explode on impact especially when there's much aviation fuel in its tank.

This is why before a plane crash lands, it's advised to circle around and burn all fuel or discharge all if the plane has the capacity to do so.

RIP to the fine gentlemen.

At home it's ok but in public? No dear. What happened to your staff? Can't they do the dish or get some indigent person in the neighborhood to do that for you and you feed him/her if you can't afford paying them a wage.

The husband too proud, he ought to have taken the initiative and assist the wife. I've seen men frying akara with their wives on the roadside to make ends meet.

BonPatrick:
A mother of two who pleaded anonymity has taken to social media to ask members of the public whether it was wrong to ask her husband to do the dishes.
According to her, her husband lost his business to scam and she has been the one catering for the family with the little she earns from her restaurant business.
She said: “Truly, My husband was the one who opened the restaurant for me, I cook very well and I still do my cooking by myself as I only direct my staffs on what to do.My husband lost his business to scam and since then it’s been me carrying the responsibilities, most of my staffs left because I could not pay them and at some point, all of them left and I had to do everything by myself.

“My husband is doing nothing yet, he just sits at home and maybe go pick the kids from school and all, so yesterday I had lots of customers in the shop, I was doing everything by myself, so as soon as my husband walked in, I asked him to help me rush to wash a few plates while I serve, and he looked at me in some strange way, I repeated myself and he slapped me in public, and walked out.

“I ignored the embarrassment and even most of my customers left, when I got home I noticed that he moved his things, I called his phone and he said he is in his friends place till he gets a job he will come home, that I should take care of the kids.

“He cut the call I tried to call and the next he blocked me.

“What did I do wrong, who is supposed to be upset? I just need to clear my conscience.”

A Nigerian man was found acting in an unusual manner as he roamed the streets of Ghana and he was taken off the streets and handed over to Nigerians in Ghana.

In a video making the rounds online, the young man believed to be acting under the influence of drugs is seen handcuffed while sitting in the back of a red car.

Good Samaritans, who are Nigerians, are heard suggesting taking him to a psychiatric hospital.

The young man's international passport revealed that his name is Okolie Christian Daniel Nonso. As the Nigerians tried to get information from him to help him, his answers were erratic and lacked coherence.

"Okay, send me to court, I want to go and bring my father back to life. They killed him without my permission, My mum is an Ashewo , After my father died, I built house for you and you brought a man into the house " Nonso is heard screaming in the video.

The Nigerians who he was handed over to then said: "This is one of our brothers. They brought him here in the Palace this afternoon. The guy is going mad.

"Some great, wonderful Ghanaians met him on the street and they picked him up, and one of our police brothers rescued him and brought him here into the Place, so that he will be taken care of."

Its her day and not your mum's. Advice is welcomed but at the discretion of your wife to implement it, don't ruin her day. BTW she doesn't know what's goin on ...better advise her so as to avoid friction in the future with your mum.

Annoms:
I'll try to make this short.

Yesterday I was having a conversation with my fiancée about my mum's suggestion about how to go about our wedding which is scheduled to take place Jan next year. My mum suggested that we do both trad and white wedding on the same day to cut cost. She opined that we do the white wedding in the morning and hold the traditional marriage as a reception in the afternoon. I pretty much see reasons from her perspective considering the harsh economic condition in Nigeria.

I was relating this to my fiancée yesterday in a phone call, when she flared up and said I should have consulted her to seek her opinion on this marriage arrangement before going to my family to seek theirs because I said my mum's advise seems okay.

What I deduce from her plight was that she wants the trad marriage at the village (south-east) while the white at the town where we base (South-West). That was what I initially wanted but due to high inflation in the land, I'm actually tilting towards my mum advise because I can't go bankruptcy just because I want to satisfy her. Why not use a stone to kill two birds?

She wants a cream-de-la-cream kind of wedding but she's not ready to assist financially to make that happen. (she's an awaiting corper)

I told her that the cost of transportation and lodging people from the village (hers and mine) to the city for our white marriage alone is gulping about 500/600k. That's transportation & lodging alone ooo.. I'll now spend if not x2 of what I spent on trad for white.. Why not just do everything in the village and move on with our lives? We can actually have it in the village and it will still be all nice and glamourous.

She said she wants to have a say in how her marriage will look like. Her imput is welcomed. But if she still insist on having the white wedding and not putting finances into consideration. I'm thinking that she want the white wedding on the city because of her friends who will attend which is not enough reason to go bankruptcy for.

It was a heated argument yesterday. We both went to bed angrily and not in talking terms till now

Pls advice accordingly. Thanks

Your currency makes it look expensive. 18k naira is like 26 pounds. Just like your 1k8 naira buys you lunch at a moderate restaurant, same way 26 pounds would get you a chow from a moderate restaurant in the UK.

270k naira is like 397 pounds and gets his friend the accommodation type for that value same way 397 naira would get you similar board in Nigeria (if it actually can).

That's just one of the ways to quantify the cost of governance. Same way if you own your house, you can valuate it to know the rent it can attract and use that to gauge your decision living there. Some people may build a house and discover they can earn more than they currently spend on rent, they just stay put and rent out the new house grin

Xcellente10:
According to the 2021 Appropriation Bill, Nigeria's seat of power, Aso Rock, is on rent.

The bill contains some bizarre and unexplainable expenditures that would blow the mind of every right thinking Nigerian citizen.

One of such expenditures is a proposed N66 Million for Aso Rock rent!

Yet another is a N45 million sewerage charges.

The rent is for the State House, which includes the offices of the President and Vice President, for which a total of N66.6 million was allocated. My question is why is Nigeria government paying rent for Aso villa and who are they paying it to?
