BusinessRe: How To Save More Money As A Nigerian by bigtt76(f): 7:34am On Jun 18, 2021
Honestly. In a country where you think more of survival than saving. How can an average worker who cut costs by living 2-3 commute hrs away from place of work, without enough money for data, sit down and begin to check out investment options?

Grace001:
He even said “save MORE money” in Nigeria where people live from hand to mouth, where 8hrs minimum wage of most Nigeria isn’t up to N1,250 I guess they won’t eat, or even transport themselves to their work place. Nonsense strategy

All these small boys writer born yesterday turned strategist overnight will be giving tips that is workable in a saner country like the US, UK, Germany etc to Nigerians.

What magic do you want someone who earn N50k Naira monthly “N1,250 8hrs ” to do, to save MORE money.

I don’t think it’s misleading though. The tips are valid regardless of how much income is earned.

AnonPoet:
In this video, YouTube creator Fisayo Fosudo discuss strategies about saving and growing money.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kOCvgGZ8Dk

It’s not a little known fact that Nigeria’s 30,000 Naira minimum wage sits at less than $100 (50,000 Naira) per month. Acccording to Nairametrics, it was revealed that due to the global pandemic, many many Nigerians have no emergency savings. The savings Deposit rate has dropped from 4% to 1.6% in the span of a few years. 40.1 percent of population in Nigeria lives in poverty. 4 out of every 10 people in Nigeria live in poverty (less than $1 (500 Naira) per day) and that’s roughly around 85 million people. This statistics was even before the global pandemic and things have become worse. Narrowed down by states, we have Sokoto and Taraba as the highest rate of poor people in the country where it’s almost at 90% or 9 out of 10 people in poverty there…but I could go on and on and on. This video seeks to help shine the light on already existing principles and how to use them in day to day life and save while keeping costs down. I think you might find value in this. Here are some tips mentioned in the video:

1 - Cut Back on Unnecessary Spending

Adjusting your relationship to money and stop spending frivolously can really help. It really pays to be frugal and it doesn’t mean that you’ll deprive yourself of something valuable. Think of it like you’re paying your future self. You’re not looking to spend tomorrow’s money today because you can’t work forever. There’s a reason why we retire and that’s because we can’t keep doing the same thing till we’re 50, so it’s better to take advantage of that now and when it comes to the time where you can’t work anymore.

2 - Budgeting and Expense Tracking

Budgeting and expense tracking can reveal serious holes and leakages in people’s earnings. For many people, it’s difficult to account for their monthly income. Expense tracking at the end of the month right after you receive your account statement can be highly effective in helping you discover the things that you’re unnecessarily spending on and that you can cut back on.

3 - Saving in a High-Interest Savings Account

One way to stay happy with your finances is to save a very significant portion of your income. Most high savers save as high as 50% of their salary, for some, 30% is tolerable. However, saving can really help people out of a rut and have people set up for emergency purposes or even better, retirement in the long term.

4 - Investing in the Stock Market / Securities

A more advanced way of saving while growing one's money is investing in the stock market or buying shares of publicly traded companies. It can be highly risky but value investing has proven to yield successful results over the long run. This is a great way to hedge against inflation and also make passive income with consistency.

5 - Hack your Rent and Transportation

One of the advantages and also disadvantages of living in Nigeria is the fact that we have to pay the rent yearly, instead of monthly. It’s good because now you don’t have to worry about a monthly bill coming your way for where you live, you only need to worry about things like electricity and charges for services. You don’t have to worry about someone kicking you out. However, that’s also another very bad thing because it’s become so expensive now. You have to cough up almost 500,000 to millions of Naira all at once because you want to rent somewhere. This kind of makes the barrier to living by yourself high.

Anyway, another way to even save way more is by living with a roommate or housemate. If you’re living on your own you should consider a smaller real estate if you need more space, consider living with someone you can trust.

Transportation too is another thing. If you can, you should carpool with your friends on your way to work or school and split uber fares. Again, if you’re young no one cares with your mode of transportation is. As far as you can get to where you’re going, that’s really what matters.

6 - Investing in yourself

It doesn’t directly correlate to saving money but investing money in things that would build up your knowledge base and your skill is unrivalled in creating true wealth.

What are your tips for saving, growing and investing money as a Nigerian?

Honest truth!

ImaIma1:
There's always a balance that people like Chimamanda might apply. You can't be married and carrying feminism on your head and in your home. Marriage comes with selflessness, compromise, etc.

The single feminist(maybe not all) in Nigeria think being a feminist is about being rude to men or challenging them wherever they go. Feminists that have remained married especially to Nigerian men need a balance. Or they can marry white men who don't place emphasis on respect and honour.

Besides, your example, Chimamanda can claim feminism in public, do you know how she is in her home? Does she fight to be the head? Or is she submissive when it applies?
CelebritiesRe: ''Feminists Avoid Me''- Mercy Eke Writes (photo) by bigtt76(f): 6:53am On Jun 18, 2021
Do we not have women perpetrating such too? Or is it all men that are criminals? The online feminists generalize and accuse ALL men which is not the case. Only a fraction of men and women are criminals. We should note that and try to educate the other remaining fraction on how to be better people not stigmatized them

Depends on your living tastes though. $100 = GhS 570 and for context,

1. From the airport to your hotel or AirBnB may cost between Ghs20 - 40 via Uber/Bolt depending on the time of the day. It would cost more using the airport taxis.

2. A bottle of 50cl pet coke cost like GhS 5 at the airport or GhS 4 outside

3. A decent KFC (or other posh eateries) meal may set you back like GhS 40 - 60 They have local eateries but beware of food poisoning and ensure you also get your preventive medications like Imodium, activated charcoal tablets etc Malaria tablets and mosquito repellant.

4. Hotel or AirBnB may cost you like $100 a night or less

I will advise you do this on arrival

1. After sorting out your airport tests (if you can pay online better for you), change very little dollars for your first day expense. Airport rates might be exploitive.

2. Get a SIM Card - MTN is popular but wahala too much, Vodafone is good but may have coverage issue depending on your location, Airtel is good too but coverage area may be an issue.

3. Request they enable Mobile money on your line whichever network you chose - might come handy later on. It's a very secure and reliable payment mode here and it's called MoMo

4. Get data on your line to enable you do your Uber searches etc. Try not to use your Nigeria sim card to receive calls or browse. Veery expensive.

5. Your hotel room or AirBnB may come with Internet

Again depending on your location and itinerary in the city, not every where you use Uber /Bolt to, sometimes it might be cheaper to use Trotro (more decent than our danfo buses but very similar). Always ask for directions and how to use the bus before embarking on your local run around.

Avoid exploitive people looking to latch on tourists and protect your mobile phone. Avoid showing off too much. Robberies are now a thing here.

It's the way many women portrayed feminism that's fueling the men's outrage. Feminism is a way of life for the women and shouldn't be seen as challenging the authority of men but rather to complement them equally. But no.... online feminists will come and saying men are scum, men are broke, men are disgusting, men are this or that. Some nor de gree f@ck men again sef cheesy

In addition to the below, Uber, Bolt your best bet but hold your cash in Cedis to pay. The most hail app drivers don't accept card payment.

There are lots of affordable AirBnB to chose from but beware of scammers posing as AirBnB owners. Always insist on seeing the apartment.

Transport costs are much higher in Ghana than Nigeria because instead of subsidy, Ghana has taxes on every liter of petrol.

But that's wrong naaau! Its not his personal interview and Heineken are not sponsoring him but the tournament for whom the interview was conducted. They should sanction him and Ronaldo, it could lead to the sponsors pulling out of the tournament.

[quote author=obembet post=102773002]France star midfielder Paul Pogba followed Cristiano Ronaldo`s footsteps as he removed a bottle of Heineken bottle placed on his table at a press-conference.

France star midfielder Paul Pogba followed Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps as he removed a bottle of Heineken bottle placed on his table at a press-conference. The beverage company is one of the sponsor of UEFA Euro 2020, but Pogba, who follows Islam, didn't seem pleased with the bottle placed in front of him.

Pogba is not the first Muslim sportsperson to openly display their reluctance towards promoting or being involved in any celebration involving alcohol. England cricketers Moeen Ali and Rashid Khan fled from champagne celebrations, when England lifted the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Pogba on numerous ocassion has expressed his religious belief, with the latest being during the holy month of Ramadan, when the midfielder went on to continue with a Europa League tie despite being on fast. He has also publicly stated that he doesn't consume alcohol in any form.

The move by the Manchester United star comes a day after Ronaldo removed Coca-Cola bottles placed on his table and urged people to consume water. The move by Ronaldo saw a significant dip in the beverage's stock value and is reported to be at least $4 billion.

Meanwhile, World Cup-winners France kicked-off their Euro 2020 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Germany on Tuesday (June 15), courtesy of an own goal by defender Mats Hummels, as the sluggish-looking hosts lost their opening fixture at the European Championship for the first time.

The world champions went ahead in the 20th minute when Pogba’s raking pass was fired back across the goal by Lucas Hernandez and defender Hummels shanked the ball into his own net as he tried to clear it.

They mostly travel on diplomatic passports or are issued visa through note verbale which is an official communication between a country's foreign affairs department to the embassy or high commission of a destination country requesting passage for its government officials.

They also have protocol departments that handle all of these and if the official presence is required, then he or she goes there

Best thing is go to Abuja and retrieve it back as you would need it in the future as proof of previous travels.

So I have this 9 weeks old eskimo dog, she is lovely and a beauty to behold. I love her so much and play a lot with her, but my only problem is that she doesn't know where to urinate. She urinates on my tiles which gets me annoyed a lot of times, I have watched dog potty training videos and tried all the tips but with very little success. I have a potty for her kept in the toilet but she prefers to urinate on my room tiles.

I have tried to keep the potty where she loves to go urinate but everytime, she shuns it and still urinate on the tiles, and at one point, I beat her and put her in the bathroom so she can see that when she urinated there, I won't beat her and will reward her, but this dog held the urine for over 10 hours and immediately I opened the bathroom door, she rushed out to the room and urinated on the tiles.

I don't know what to do again, please house, help me, she seems to be confusing the room for the rest room and the rest room for the room.
