I dont think Nigerians fully understand what it means to lose 180 people from the same village. Try imagining this happening in your hometown... the number of your loved ones lost and the ripple effect is unimaginable. What kind of country does this to its own people? And some people are still singing for one Nigeria - lets see how loud you sing when the boots invade your neck of the woods.

safeLove: All this "mental illness" talk na wa o!

A woman is not happy in her marriage and is nagging the beJesus out of her husband and a man who is confused about the situation and some people are calling her a "mad".

That means a lot of married women in Nigeria are mentally ill naw.

My opinion, she's just showing her true self which op never saw (or refused to see) during courtship.

@OP,hang in there o! Marriage is for better for "worst" . Maybe its you who will eventually need mental treatment by the time she's done with you.

My dear, no woman really want a divorce. Like I said above, you need to stoop to conquer. Allow her have her way for sometime, then have a heart to heart talk with her. Once you point out the rolee reversal she is clamouring for, she will most likely come to her senses.
Makee it look likee she is the one voluntarily giving you authority over the marriage. Also try and find out, if there is no outsider feeding her with rubbish opinion about marriage.
This is bad, bad advice.

Its called baby fat. Some women keep it forever, but most dont. Its almost funny how sudden it is, becasue women go from being on top of the hill to a "has been" within the span of a few months

I generally hate conspiracy theories, but you have to wonder. People just dont wake up and kill other people. If you are not that type of person, not even your mother, talk less of your brother can make you do such things. Was this dude brainwashed?
PoliticsRe: Fashola Puts Country’s Woes On Leaders’ Poor Education by birdman(m): 4:21am On Apr 20, 2013
You can be educated and corrupt, but your education makes a difference. Instead of brazenly stealing money stashed in bags and sending them abroad, educated politicians at least start industries in their own backyard with that money. They would rather award themselves a contract to build a world class hospital, because they may need it some day. Even Fashola has been criticised for favoring a few, eg Tinubu with contracts. But you know what, it still helped Lagos state. That really is the difference between the Nigerian politician and other politicians - education and a good dose of common sense. So you want an oil block? OK, at least start something with it, like Dangote instead of junkets to countries where nobody even knows your name.

There is more to Africa than tropical west Africa. Some places actually have snow, and they have longer thinner noses to adapt to the mountainous air. Stop listening to Alingo all day and expand your horizon smiley
PoliticsRe: American Senators Pass Resolution On Achebe by birdman(m): 4:08am On Apr 18, 2013
naijaking1: Embellishhuh?
What, which, and where is the embelishment? The senate has a right to assess and evaluate African writers using their own standards, not yours. And if they judge Chinua as a pioneer, so be it. Is your point that they must agree with your cock-eyed evaluationhuh
There is nothing rooster eyed about it. Achebe is not the pioneer or founder of African literature. Neither is Soyinka btw, in case you think I'm being tribalistic. If Achebe rightfully rejected the awards given to him by the FG, he would also in principle reject this award. This is fraud, plain and simple.

chukymoney: Thanks seun.

Thank you all for your contributions, sorry i have not been following up all the while, i was indisposed. To all that corrected me, i discovered now in nairaland that there are people that checks word to word peoples post, all the same thank you.

Back to my story. i would try to answer some few questions and go back to my story.
1. No i did not marry her, she married someone else and i did same too, hers was in 2008 while
mine was in 2010. she came for my wedding but she hid hers from me, we both have two kids.

My reason for putting up this thread is that back then i was so naive about the reality of life and a lot of things that has to do with women.Am so experience now, back then i thought i would die without her,but known am happy it never worked out because something better was actually waiting for me
Although we are still friends we communicate like 2-3 times in a year.

Recently i was transferred out of lagos. God has been good to me i have fully settled down in my new place within two months which happens to be close to where she is, i never told her all of a sudden i received a call from her i suspected she knows something, but she did not say anything relating to my present status,so i thought is our normal once in while talk on phone.

She now called again within two weeks during our discussion she started saying some things we used to say back then as in name i used to call her and the one she calls me too,and she try to bring some kind of discussion you know what i mean. I am beginning to suspect her ordinarily she is not my Facebook friend and not also on my BB. Just thinking that someone somewhere might have passed the info to her you now how this social media thing works, but am still watching to see if i would receive another call and probably she says something.
Or maybe she is trying to rekindle things?

PoliticsRe: American Senators Pass Resolution On Achebe by birdman(m): 3:37am On Apr 18, 2013
Founder and pioneer of African literature? Even giants like Diop, Mudimbe, Senghor cannot claim this title. Dear God, those senators just embarassed themselves - Achebe's achievements can stand on its own two feet. Any attempt to embellish his record ends up cheapening it.

Negro_Ntns: I disagree. Poor judgement and lack of vision is the root of our endemic poor leadership, not poor education. Nigerian leaders received far better education than the leaders in say, Tanzania or Zambia or Niger. Thos three countries perform far better for their people and their countries.
Any evidence to back your claim up? How do you know Nigerian leaders received better education?

delvinmaya: Yes, Yes, Yes, we keep hearing that story, over and over and it has become stale. This is not an issue of meaningless patriotism, but a question of morality and social justice. Bernard Shaw once wrote "It is said that every people has the Government it deserves". I want to add, we deserve the mess we are in cause we all caused it. We fix ourselves, we can then talk about breaking up whatever we want to break-up, and that's if we remember.
You dont repair a house without foundation. Once it starts to sink, you tear it down and rebuild properly. Simple.

NeoTesla: Because our homes are products of our choices. Nigeria is a product of a "petty" European mind. Keep laughing, you have a right to have an opinion after all.
This is something Nigerians are unable to grasp, yet. The country itself was designed as a construct to further aid the transfer of resources to the head of the colony. It has nothing to do with the welfare of those being colonised. This is why the Delta cannot have a fair shake, even when its own son is on top. I have no problem with Nigeria, but we need to understand the basics before meaningless patriotism.

Anyone remember the burial ceremony in the delta where Azazi died? I think it was a relative of one of GEJ's spokesmen being buried. I remember one of the OPC heavyweights was at this event, being ferried by armed guards over the creek. If not for that tragedy, we would never have seen that pic, and probably wouldnt know that parts of OPC are in bed with the enemy.

By 35, most athletes have retired from competitive MMA. Attempting to start at that age is just suicide - at least boxing has padded gloves - MMA is russian roulette. There is a set number of hard knuckle punches you can eat from a pro. Once its up, you are a goner.

What was his corner doing btw? You know your fighter - how do you allow him to eat that many blows to the head without throwing in the towel. RIP warrior

PoliticsRe: No More Tribal Attack In Politics Section by birdman(m): 4:20am On Apr 11, 2013
Katsumoto: You are been divisive as usual. Both sides are guilty of distasteful posts. If you take a sample of posters who identify themselves as Yoruba, you will find out that it's a very small minority that have posted pictures of children on NL. It is most dreadfully unwise to use what a minority does/did to judge a majority.

Having said that, the main issue with Nigeria is not even tribalism, it is that people don't understand cultural differences. People judge other groups based on their own values and norms. You have made that error quite a number of times. When American and Japanese companies began collaborating in the 80s, they was a lot of conflict between Americans and Japanes. American managers didn't understand that Japanese folks don't like being admonished publicly while Japanese managers didn't understand that Americans prefer direct and blunt feedback. This work (cultural dimensions) as well as in most places was covered by a man called Dr Hofstede. The result of his work is that HR departments should educate employees who are going on overseas travel. Nigeria would benefit from such an education.

The marriage of the various ethnic groups in Nigeria can be likened to a relationship between a girl and a boy who like each other on the surface but must still get to know one each other deeply. Without patience and tolerance on both sides, it is going to be a volatile relationship. When you state that Yoruba don't share other's 'pain' it is because you don't understand Yoruba expressions. If Yoruba don't share the pain of others, would Soyinka, Beko, Gani, Falana, and Fela put themselves at pain of death and torture fighting for the rights of all Nigerians? Another example, when you folks state that Yoruba are cowards, it is because you refuse to understand that Yoruba fought wars between the 13th century and the 19th century. They know the value of peace and prefer it to war.

You have been selected by your folks as the leader of Ndigbo on NL; it is time for you to start acting like a leader who understands the value of building bridges. This division on NL takes away from more important issues.
I agree with what you said except the bolded. A vocal minority can make a lot of noise and make things seem different from what the reality is. Onlytruth doesnt lead anything other than a few kids and even fewer bigots. When good people go silent or are dis-interested, the bottom of the barrel usually runs affairs. Anyone that takes a chieftancy title bestowed online seriously is telling you a lot about their real life. Most Nigerians intuitively understand the issues, including Biafra etc far more than this forum would give them credit for. And they generally live peacable together, inter-marrying like rabbits cheesy

Again stop giving a vocal minority more credit than they deserve - you simply legitimize their tyranny.

Good luck to you, Ikenna abi kini won tin pe oruko e tongue
