kemifemi: Shaking my head at some of these responses! Can't believe some people still reason like this. Oga o. May God help women o.

Roles have changed. Things are not the way they used to be. An average naija woman will support her husband whenever the need arises, why can't our men do the same.

Ladies, marry a man that LOVES God and you'll never regret it. If the love of God is not in him...... U know d answer
You can love God and still be hell to marry. In fact, in the Nigerian case, you are more likely to have an understanding relationship with an atheist.

9jacrip: Some people seem to be taking this Goldie's passing very personal/to heart.
FYI, so many people died around the world today so her death isn't a big deal/exceptional.
Drop the rose, say the R.I.P and move on, simple!
The death of people you are familiar with makes it hit home. This is a big deal for any Nigerian. I really never liked her until the BB elimination where she broke down. At least under all the gra gra was a real girl. RIP Goldie...

I cant help but think this had something to do with the long flight, maybe a blood clot developed as this is too sudden.

PoliticsRe: Prof Achebe's "There Was A Country" Is Meticulously Torn Apart & Shredded by birdman(m): 4:19am On Feb 13, 2013
Beside the fact that this has a language consistent with white supremacist literature, Achebe, to demonstrate he is not partial or a chauvinist, based himself on a 17 page report by Paul Anber in Journal of Modern African Studies titled Modernization and Political Disintegration: Nigeria and the Ibos.

I looked up the 1967 journal. Curiously this ‘scholar’ was designated as “a member of staff of one the Nigerian Universities.” Why would a scholar hide his place of work in a journal? I checked the essays and book reviews in all the 196 issues of Journal of Modern African Studies from Volume 1 issue 1 of January 1963 to the last issue Volume 49 November 2011, there was nowhere a piece was published and the designation of the scholar vague or hidden. Also this Paul Anber never published any piece before and after this article in this or any other journal. I wanted to start checking the academic staff list of the five universities in Nigeria then until I realized again that it says “he is a staff of Nigerian university;” I would have to check the names of janitors and cleaners, and other non-academic staff too. The truth is Paul Anber is a fake name under which someone else or a group of people possibly Igbo is masquerading. And he/they never used this name again for any other piece or books. So that this ruse would not be found out was the reason he/they hid his/their university. And this piece like The Protocols of the Elders of Zion has been the cornerstone of books and widely quoted by other journals over a period 45 years. It is the cornerstone of the chapter A History Of Ethnic Tension And Resentment which Achebe used to skew the motive for Igbo people’s maltreatment from the fallout of January 1966 coup and the inflammatory provocations they published to resentment for being allegedly the most successful and dominant tribe in Nigeria.
Whoa!

+1 for scratch. At a young age, you want to encourage creativity, not force kids to think like computers. Python is more intuitive than C for example, but neither are suitable for youngsters. Funny enough, I learnt programming with BASIC and C as a kid. I cant imagine the kind of applications I would have written if I had scratch

madridsta007: Inspiring message Cobhams.

However, I want to think differently. Blindness is not a gift. Sight is.
From his lecture, you could also call the title The Gift of Focus. His point is, being blind to everything else so you can achieve your goal is a gift. Im pretty sure Cobhams would love to get physical sight if he could.

Roland17: My brother, that issue is peripheral, more than 60% of violent crimes, Murder/ homicides, shootings, robbery, rape are gang related carried out by juveniles, Chicago's crime rate has tripled compared to that of New York and twice as violent compared to LA.

Violent crimes have become a norm in Chicago especially south of Chicago, the police is massively corrupt, they know these gang leaders but have refused to tackle them, i am privileged to travel a lot and Brooklyn New York is a place i spend a lot of time.

Previously, Brooklyn was renowned for what Chicago currently suffers, but former Mayor Giuliani in conjunction with NYPD chiefs started a huge crack down on gang leader, threw them in jail and left them there, the Man haunt was massive sweeping through Brooklyn and Queens, made unannounced search in high schools, collaborated with school principals, this strategy greatly reduced the level of violent crimes in New York, today brooklyn has changed, its a new Brooklyn..although not perfect security wise, its safer than most big cities.

Chicago needs a sweep..
Brother, you are making my point for me. When Giuliani increased police presence, see how new york mellow. The same can happen in Chicago - unfortunately it looks like city hall isnt willing to spend the money. And I think that is the most painful fact of all - it boils down to the lives of certain Chicagoans not being worth that much to some politicians.

Eziachi: But the Yoruba are not carrying themselves as those that goofed but rather than as if nothing happened and they are the wise men of the east. If they started by saying or humbly stating how they goofed and do not want Igbos to do the same, that will be different all together.

You can't sh*t on yourself, then turn around to sound sanctimonious to other befall by the same faith just because time has taken care of what happened to you. That is the point I am trying to make.
I am not defending my people, but the last people that should be preaching to them about voting without tribal sentiment will be Yorubas, considering what they did in 2003 with OBJ.
Its not nice calling anyone silly over an issue you had the history of doing exactly the same not long ago.
Stop making stuff up. OBJ nearly lost in the SW, and was only saved my massive rigging and PDP infrastructure on the ground. Till today, the dude is a pariah despite spending money like water. And when the north wouldnt let GEJ take office, it was the SW, again that led the charge at the risk of life and limb.

We already know how this is going to play out, almost. If you want to re-vote in bad leadership solely on the basis of tribalism, do so and stop trying to rope others in to justify your madness. We already know a year or two from now, you will be back talking about marginalization, conveniently forgetting all the dumb stuff you did to get you where you are.
PoliticsRe: Civil Servant Eating Amala And Fish While On Duty At Lagos High Court by birdman(m): 3:00am On Jan 30, 2013
Eating Amala is not the same as meatpie. You can put the meatpie aside and attend to other duties without soiling stuff. And it doesnt have a strong smell, distracting everyone else. If you must eat real food like amala, find a break room or buka for Gods sakes.

Plarp: haha very nice grin

Yea but i don't want to be that guy who asks out a dozen girls every night. No matter what society says ill never abandon my dignity for some a$$. All you see in the club is a buncha dudes getting rejected until they are reduced to trying to hollar at the skank whos practically passed out in the lobby. its sad

Parties and clubs are like confidence transfers, the girls are like parasites. Every time a guy aproches a chick as she says no, she feels a little better about herself, and he feels a little worse. By the time its all over the ladies have sucked up all the dudes confidence until they feel inadequate and she feels like a princess grin

So Ill keep my 95% success rate talking to girls who i know, skrew hollering at random strangers, this was my first and last time.
Talk about school of hard knocks. grin. Am I glad I got that ish out of my system

stillwater: Typical! There is no need to make ridiculous assertions here. This has absolutely nothing to do with confidence. A survey was carried out and showed that the average black woman in America is three times more confident than the White woman.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/08/african-american-women-ha_n_1083182.html

When will you guys realize you are not all that, you are not all that, you are not all thatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt! grin
Unfortunately, 2buff and plarp are right. Black women find it harder to carry out a convo in a club, even when they want to. Instead of giving it a shot, they will generally take the easier route and snub you hard so it looks like its your fault. I usually prefer clubs with mixed chicks - the more carefree(i'm not talking easy or loose women) nature of white women usually pushes black chicks in those clubs to loosen up a bit.

I read that article too. You know something is amiss when huffpo has to write an article claiming black women are confident. Its like those articles people write claiming Islam is not violent. Urhm.

Of course its not. But I dont see any other Igbo speaking up. I didnt see any speaking up when GEJ fraudulently won 99% in SE either. Lets not even get into all the ACN Igbo candidates that were brutally assassinated last election. I didnt hear anything then either. If you dont say anything, then it means you agree with what Ohanaeze is saying and what is happening on the ground.

PoliticsRe: Igbos Support Jonathan 2015 Bid by birdman(m): 7:22am On Jan 26, 2013
danjohn: You are correct. The numbers I provided were not adjusted to account for electoral malpractices. I have a model that accounts for it so here is my summary. In 2011, the voter turnout in the NW was 54.5%, NE 54.2%, NC 47.7%, SW 32.3%, SE 66.9%, and SS 66.9%.

Given that voter intensity was highest in the NW, NE, SE, and SS and given that the results in the NW and NE were perceived to be more credible, we can account for the fraudulent votes in the SE and SS by pegging the voter participation of those regions to the voter participation in the NW and NE. Doing this will decrease the voter participation in the SS and SE by approximately 20%.

Once this adjustment is made, GEJ still nets 3,967,862 votes in the SE vs Buhari's 5,207,166 in the NW and NE (excluding Adamawa and Taraba). All I am saying is that we need some votes from the Southeast in order to improve our chances of winning the election. Right now, the SE and SS are very good buffers for GEJ. It will be a brilliant move by the opposition to eat into that buffer by winning 20% - 30% of the votes in those regions.
You forget the goodwill Jonathan lost in the SW. He is not getting SW vote this time - his best hope is to split that vote by scuttling a CPC-ACN merger.

Bigdigpussylova: whether u as an individual support or not, what matters is what majority of Nigerians say by way of voting. Goodluck might not have performed as expected, but tell me any Nigerian past president who has been so praised while in office? the answer is non. let's be patient, let him finish and step down, den we can measure his successes and failures.
I agree we should wait till the end of his term to judge. Question is, why wont Ohanaeze wait? They have already declared that regardless of how he performs, they will be voting for him again. If anything, it is Ohaneze that is tribalistic for non-questioning support

Lexoria: Abegi, which kind cede the role to the husband.Every woman wants and loves when the kids are close to their father her husband. My hubby loves feeding his girls, mind u they are 4 and 5+ but he prefers to feed them than for them to eat by themselves. He calls it bonding time! And u'll hear them arguing over who will eat with daddy. So pls don't decide for the womenfolks what they like or do no like or what they can/cannot do. Or if feeding the family makes them matured.By the way,its not possible for a woman to leave everyday cookin for her hubby to do unless she's incapacitated.
ok this makes sense. I should leave these topics to actual husbands and wives tongue

davidylan: Grow up. your wife is not your servant but your best friend and lover. I dont know what is wrong with doing dishes and helping to cook and clean. I would rather help out so she can finish quickly and we can move on to more fun stuff than cross my legs in the parlor while she slaves away.
I hear you, but there is more to a marriage than being best friends and lovers. While good cooks like occasional help, they generally do not like others interfering and roaming about the kitchen while they are trying to prepare stuff. So while I have no problems cleaning up or cooking (I'm a pretty good cook), I would be suspicious of a woman that lets the husband take majority control of the kitchen. The person who feeds the house is the nurturer and usually closer to the kids, and I don't see how any mature woman would cede that role to the husband, considering he didn't carry any of the kids for 9 months.
FashionRe: Do Guys Really Need Six Pack Belle? by birdman(m): 1:47am On Jan 23, 2013
Almost nobody has a constant visible six pack. Even abs models need to do lots of reps and use oils/makeup just before a photo shoot to make the abs standout. Athletes certainly cant maintain one - the fat level you need for your abs to show constantly will put your body in starvation mode so you'll be useless strength wise. In other words, stop trying to attain what you are seeing in photos. Its not real and you could injure yourself in the process. Its the Beyonce effect, except its for guys. A flat stomach with a little definition is about as good as you can expect...unless of course you are naturally lean
