First I am not from that place and not even from delta, and I am bot in support of the murder of anyone soldier or civilian for whatever purpose and I hate it more when I hear that any person died because of nigeria, I never believe that the blood of any human being is supposed to be shed because of nigeria.
We heard how Obasanjo destroyed a while village in odi during his days and we hear stories of the nigerian soldiers going on rampage and burning people's houses each time this type of senseless murders happened, have it stopped it from happening? We are hearing of how the old and the weak are being sacked from their houses, do we really believe that this heinous acts were committed by this old people? I am thinking that there is something as military intelligence, there are sss, there are police, and there are people in these places where these things happen that will be ready to help fish out this murderers, why all these collective punishment? Where most likely those murderers have fled those communities, or is there anyone hear who believes that those that did this will wait for the military to come?
I am thinking that the military and the govt can change tactics if what they have tried before did not work, personally I don't believe that this is the most effective way to fish out the murderers, I will think that if by any chance the real murderers are apprehended and taken to courts and judged, would have been better at stopping these type of evil

You have a very valid point. But you also need to consider the nature and tactics of those criminal elements. These are hardened heavily armed terrorists who have mastered the skills and art of laying ambush. If the military do not invade the community with overwhelming force they could be ambushed again by those criminals.

It's sad that innocent people always suffer losses or get killed in situations like this. But lesson to learn here is that people should not be condoning criminal elements among them. Criminals you allow to operate freely in your community will eventually bring calamity to the community.

I like his honesty and straightforwardness. It's now left for his people who voted him to make him account for the billion he collected by showing them what project he did with the money, otherwise he lose re-election.

For those of you saying Ned will use the money to marry fresh virgin, I think you are wrong. I am not here to tell who is wrong or right but I can't imagine myself being a police officer in this dangerous time without arming myself with enough tear gas and a loaded gun ready to shoot whoever i suspect may be a treat to my life.

How can you, as a police officer find yourself in such a situation and still allow some group of angry youths especially in a place like Edo to come near you without making sure you teargas them and warn them not to come near you. If they won't listen to the warning kill as many of them as possible before they finally overpower and kill you.

No zone or tribe in Nigeria has the monopoly of having highly qualified and competent people who can run the affairs of this country or their respective state. Every other tribe or zone also have qualified and competent people but the zones or tribe with highest population tend to take undue advantage of their large population to suppress and marginalise minority tribes who, in some cases, are even the economic backbone of the nation or state.

Nigeria cannot make progress and remain stable if every tribe does not have a sense of belonging and feel fairly treated. And one of the ways to ensure this happens is by making sure there is a law that mandates that power be rotated among the geopolitical zones. Instead of two terms of four years, I would recommend one term of six years. After six years the president would hand over power to another person from a zone that has not produced a president yet. And no political parties should be allowed to field a candidate from a zone that has already produced a democratic president until all the zones that have not produced a president have produced one.

I know ethnic chauvinists and bigots won't like or support this type of bill because they believe their tribes are the only one that must rule the country. But we can't and must not continue like this!

And some will argue that it is competence and qualification of the candidate we should be thinking about and my question is: what makes you think its only your tribe that can produce competent and qualified people to occupy the position of the president?

You are either naive or insincere if you can't see that the people from the minority tribes will never have opportunity to also rule this country (no matter how competent or qualified they are) has long has people from the majority tribes keep coming out to contest, and we all know the average Nigerian vote according to tribal and religious sentiment rather than competence of the candidate. Hence, the need for this law.
