jeflexy: Pls i wanna download fonts for my fone, does ifont brick fones? My tecno l3 is rooted
do u really need yo use custom fonts? anyway I tried the Ifont on my tecno p5 and it seems to be ok
PhonesRe: Android, Anyone? Part II by blackweaver(m): 9:24pm On Oct 13, 2013
4llerbuntu: plix dun beef ma sweet tecno o. or else I will buy one and send to you.... then when it gets to customs they will arrest ur ass for bringing in dangerous object grin

tecno users are happy users!!!
hmm u make a strong case for tecno, in fact u have convinced me. bought a p5 yesterday and I'm happy.
ok on a more serious note someone borrowed my galaxy y pro indefinitely while I wasn't looking so I decided to get myself one to even see the noise these people have been making.
the good: the specs are pretty ok, large screen comes with 8 gb sdcard so I didn't have to get another. it also has some nice features, like being able to use ur pc's internet connection via usb For 16k5 it's a pretty decent phone.
bad: the boot animation is a major embarrassment, same thing for default system sounds launcher is nothing to write home about. one thing I really find annoying is that every time I restart the phone I have to switch the keyboard back to Swype (i hate the default android keyboard).
bottom line: most of the recent tecno phones "probably" outdo most android phones in their price range but there are places where they still fall short
PhonesRe: Tecno P5 Discussion Thread by blackweaver(m): 3:24pm On Sep 29, 2013
One other thing, rooting voids your warranty so unless you have a very good reason to, it's usually advisable not to

kcboy34: what's rooting? , what's the importance of rooting?, is it necessary to root the fone and is it all fones that can be rooted?
well if u don't know what rooting is, u probably don't need to root your phone. Most android devices can be rooted though some vendors make it very difficult. I need to root my phone 'cos there are certain apps i must have which need root functionality to function well
PhonesRe: Tecno P5 Discussion Thread by blackweaver(m): 2:11pm On Sep 29, 2013
Has anyone rooted this phone yet? It seems to have the same cpu as the m3. For me sha I can't buy a phone that I can't root

mister awo: huh

huh I don't understand
Bros in the phones section, u will find many Tecno threads. Ask Tecno related questions there or you can just search

have you tried using another computer? I've only had that kind of issue only once, and that one, my phone wasn't showing usb connected even tho it WAS charging. Eventually i put it off for some time when connected to my pc then i put it on while still connected and my phone has been connected since

herveze: i know realise that u are too proud, are you saying the phone you or friends are using now did not lack anything, even your brain lack knowledge, dindinrin.
it's not abt being proud, it's abt being cautious, no matter hw good the manufacturer whether samsung or nokia or apple etc, if they can get away with it they will sell u a lousy product, so u do ur research, weigh the pros and cons and decide if u can live with the cons. That's what he's talking abt. Also research abt hw to deal with the known possible issues so that if they do come up u can deal with them. I personally would rather buy a phone with 24 known serious issues that i can find a fix to online, than one that has just 1 serious issue that no solution has been found for but that's me. The point is, because we do our research first we know what we're getting into and hw to deal with challenges we experience. No phone is perfect.

Swaginton: Yesterday was perhaps a historic day in the world of English football.am not just talking about the mauling of manchester united by their rivals, manchester city. (frankly I don't believe manchester united should be given the privilege of being tagged as manchester city's rivals).
Would you have made that statement when SAF was still managing the team? Also, would they have had such (relatively) poor signings if SAF was still in charge?

herveze: thank you, someone said that i should root the phone maybe that will increase the speed, did u know how to root techo d3
no, never used a tecno, so i don't know how to root one but i think a google search for rooting d3 o a NL search should give you the required info. That said, i seriously doubt rooting will increase the browsing speed seeing that the limitation is hardware based, not software

4llerbuntu: its like there is nothing some folks wont do on NL to continue their imaginary beef with my person

imagine one fellow made a list of BLACKBERRY advocates on NL and inserted my name grin grin grin grin grin grin

i haven't stopped laughing since each time i remember it. as in, even if na today u join NL, u looked at my posts and concluded that? cry cry cry

im sure in 10 months time, someone will include my name in a list of Tecno Advocates again...
NL is just worth a laugh everytime grin grin grin wink
saw the list myself; at first i was tempted to correct the guy but i decided if 4ller wants to defend himself, a whole SAN (ok barrister) should be able to do it even better than i ever could

herveze: I bought my Techo d3 not know that it is not 3G,And now i am regretting because since i bought it i did not enjoy it for browsing instead i am using my Nokia c2 to surf the net,pls any help to increase the speed of the phone or any application that i can download.
well that's just unfortunate. You can't increase your phone speed, but you could either get a wifi router/modem or browse with opera mini/ucweb mini. at least those 2 browsers are more data friendly

hapigirl04: Pls I am new here. I need an android phone (not tecno), new or used. The budget is 18k - 20k. Ur pieces of advice are highly appreciated wink. Thank u.
if you don't mind a low-end smartphone i'm pretty sure you can get lg l3 II E430/E435 (the E435 is dual sim) or the samsung galaxy young s6310/s6312 (the s6312 is dual) within that price range.

Fulaman198: LG Nexus 4, it is last years Google flagship phone. I used a proxy to check how much it is in American Google play store. It is 199 USD which is about 32.5K
First of all, the play store WAS the only place where you could get it that cheap.
I say WAS 'cos secondly the nexus 4s have been sold out at the US store. The $199 one was sold out less than 1 week after google slashed the price of their nexus devices (by $100) was and the $249 one was sold out less than 2 weeks.
However i can't speak for the play store in other countries.
Non play store shops sell at a higher price.
Oh and before i forget, google has no plans of restocking the nexus 4 phones at their store

Fulaman198: Who here believes that Android 4.4 KitKat will have 64-bit capability?
is 64 bit necessary just yet? i mean the largest amount of ram on any android device so far is 3gb and i'm pretty sure android supports physical address extension (PAE) so even if a device came with 6gb ram it would still be able to access all 6gb.
I think that android 5 is more likely to have 64 bit capability, to me as it doesn't make sense to add such a radical change on a revision no (as opposed to a version no).
Besides, android 4.4 has already been announced; to add 64 bit if it didn't already have will cause them to shift release date.
Then there's also the issue of fragmentation that android has been accused of for years ...

pc guru: oops mine was 2gb ram sorry forgot to mention that, he can but he will have to use gnome-fallback-session or xfce
i think 4ller was talking abt the guy suggesting that he use a vm, yeah ubuntu will install but might lag a bit at times, the dual boot method is better and won't affect the system speed. The vm option is invitation for frustration

Dikachiii: is there a way I can download apps from playstore to my pc?
4llerbuntu: No. U install them on your phone. Then if rooted, you can copy then out directly yourself from the system folder
or use applications like Root Uninstaller to backup the .apk files onto your sdcard

YOU NEED TO BE ROOTED to do this.
actually there's a program called real apk leecher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563894) that you can use to download apks to your pc

peterjero: I rooted my samsung galaxy y pro duos and was happy then rummaged thru google for the benefits - which I didn't get like deleting bloatwares, porting apps to SD card nothing. Ooº°°º k I then found a custom rom and flashed it on my phone. The experience isn't nice at all because d only reason I rooted my device was to increase my device space which up till now, I lost more. The only advantage I got was to behave like a geek to my non-geeky friends. I have no game on my fone just whatsapp and opera mini(no space for other apps. Please don't root ur fones
you surprise me, with my galaxy y pro duos i have over 110 apps, even excluding widgets and icon packs and plugins i'm pretty sure i have over 80. Presently i'm not using a custom rom but i used one before and i still have abt 40mb of internal memory free (for you guys with high-end/midrange phones that's pretty small but when u use a gingerbread running low-end phone you'll understand what i'm saying). With my rooted phone i was able to make my favourite launcher a system app, and i also uninstalled that annoying opera mini browser that comes by default with the phone. Might i ask, what custom rom are you using?

By the way, i hope you did a backup of your default rom (using cwm) before installing the custom one - that way you can always return to exacly how your phone was before the custom rom

But what if I'm in a place where I can't access a printer having WiFi?
I once used printbot to print over a shared printer, of course you have to be connected to the same network as pc. I can't remember how i got it done though; it took me a while
