@chidibrown when your pc starts press f10 to go into the bios options under system configuration, go to device configurations; disable "Sata Native Mode", save changes and you will be able to install winxp |
@mygee, like skydancer says it's probably your rm that's too low another problem might be your display card (although i believe intel graphics cards should be ok if you are sure that you are using the right driver) @dfash it's quite possible that your battery is bad; have you been letting it run down? i once used a laptop and noticed that everytime the battery ran down completely the battery life was reduced |
sorry could you elaborate on what you mean? |
can you give us more info about you pc? is it a laptop? then if you tell me the brand and model i could probably direct you to links where you can download; you say u don't have internet; no big deal; that means you posted this message from a cybercafe; if they al;low flash drives you can download from the cybercafe and install at home. if's an assembled pc it may be a bit harder to get the drivers; if so do this: Open Device Manager (Right-click My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager) The hardware whose drivers are missing will appear as Unknown device, so it’s easier to locate the device. Right click on the unknown device and click on Properties. Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id (or hardware ids) from the drop down box. You should see a code similar to this PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3344&SUBSYS_11223344&REV_01 post the valuse you get and i'll see if i can direct you to links where you can get the drivers but if you want to try to find them yourself thereby increasing your pc knowledge just know that the part that comes after VEN is the vendor id and the part after DEV is the device id for instance in the above example, the vendor id is 1106 and the product id is 3344 with that you can search for compatible drivers |
yes you can ask for powerdvd |
well those of yoou who want to leave to another network, hurry up and go (and don't come back) so that some of us who remain will have better browsing, download speeds |
hello, it's called WINDOWS vista; perhaps you should elaborate on what you mean |
before nko? are you surprised? |
LUDALOOLO:i agree with you; in fact over here they are just copying what has already been done some years ago @abatakan first of all the fraudulent website does not reside on mtn servers; it's when people like you and me see these things and complain to mtn customer care that they become aware and take action; you don't actually expect them to go about surfing all web pages just so that they can find sites that are pretending to be them do you |
wow u formatted you pc? sorry you will have to install those programs again; adobe acrobat is easy - just go to adobe.com; you should be able to get a free download of the latest version. for office i.e. msword, excel etc you'll have to buy the cd. while i don't advocate piracy (including buying pirated software) i also realise that it's not easy to come up with the money for a genuine microsoft office cd if you are based in lagos you can buy from otigba (computer village) though i don;t know how much cds cost now. on the other hand if you want to go legit and are not willing to cough up the exorbitant price of a microsoft office cd, there are also freeware alternatives e.g openoffice.org (www.openoffice.org) |
@ec3l what model of compaq exactly? perhaps i could help you find links to a site where you can download drivers (hp may also be a place to sniff around) but like stan said, your problem is probably with your display @bigafees visual studio 2008 hardware requirements: # Minimum: 1.6 GHz CPU, 384 MB RAM, 1024x768 display, 5400 RPM hard disk # Recommended: 2.2 GHz or higher CPU, 1024 MB or more RAM, 1280x1024 display, 7200 RPM or higher hard disk # On Windows Vista: 2.4 GHz CPU, 768 MB RAM your ram is way too small; you need to increase it - or better still get a new pc (if it's not too inconvenient; pentium3 is way out of date) |
@stan you can try using downloading a software from this site: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html it's called Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer (super for short and it's totally free) i usually use it not only to convert music formats but also videos (avi, 3gp, flv u name it) |
@hayprof does Zoom have a download limit? |
even a virus can do that for you for free |
i just wonder what cheese means; gnu: Gnu's Not Unix (really!!) wine: Wine Is Not an Emulator (then what is it?) |
hey what's smart about that? u mean he was a multimillionaire and didn't have a garage? and since he's a nigerian i REFUSE to believe that he had only that car; so where did he park the other cars? other banks ? |
pc was the police constable apple was a fruit windows were furniture macintosh was a type of raincoat ups was a parcel delivery company |
you can try karrox too (they have branches over lagos; there's one along allen) am not sure if they offer the course though |
did you buy it brand new? what os was it preinstalled with by the manufacturer? if it was vista then the serial no should be underneath; then there is the case where u have a genuine serial no but you still have to call customer care to activate the license |
@lynx install kde - i know it's a waste but at least that way it's sure of working, even if you still use gnome as your window manager |
i think the guy stole the goat |
should have put brooms in their hands |
what version of kde's that? seems 2 me like 4.x (nicer lookin but much heavier than 3.x) |
6120? sensible phone but i support getting a usb modem; browsing with my phone has reduced my phone battery's standby time (i use a usb modem to; only it's starcomms). Unfortunately didn't have much light yesterday so couldn't check internet config |
@4llerbe ubuntu right (i.e a gnome based os - as opposed to kde)? are you connecting by data cable or bluetooth? can you connect in windows? normally i do such stuff manually, unfortunately i can't remember mtn settings at the moment; may try when i get home but if you can set it up in windows i can tell you how to do it in linux but you will have to tell me some settings though |
booo (thumbs down) |
what os (windows/linux/mac)? what kind of hardware? inbuilt, usb we need more info |
by the way i know this is out of context but of all the gsm companies which do you guys think is the easiest to configure for internet (i personally think mtn is) |
@4llerbe those codec issues have somthing to do with licensing (redhat, fedora, ubuntu, debian among others all seem to have that restriction by default) anyway you could use mandriva (i don't really like it too much 'cos it automatically mounts all my partitions and shows the icons on my desktop imagine how cluttered your desktop would look if you had over 20 partitions but you may find it convenient) besides it's the only linux distro i've ever used where i didn't have to configure my modem, i was really shocked i also have slax and puppy both lightweight livecds - you can use them without installing and they also have mp3 & dvd support by default (which windows doesn't even have; you have to install a dvd player to be able to play dvds on media player ) you're on mtn right? i should think configureing internet on it would be easy. |
but is 7 that bad? anyway me i've made up my mind that the only version of windows am going to get is the one that comes with my hardware |
robots; they've been talking about that for years in scifi books |
