Phones › Re: Etisalat - Nigeria's 5th GSM Operator by blackweaver(m): 10:47pm On Jan 04, 2009
nah we can't be talking about the same site 'cos i checked again, closed page, deleted cache and checked again still 15k/kb

however i agree with you that mtn is a serious let down ion more than one occasion i activated the 1-day 24hr data plan and
less than 6hrs later i cant seem to browse anymore, also i find out that the little credit remaining on the line has been used up
fortunately i wasn't using my main line - men those guys can be very sneaky. Am just waiting to get another handset before i get
my etisalat line
Phones › Re: What Telephone Network Do You Use And How Many? by blackweaver(m): 9:40pm On Jan 04, 2009
@4peace do you own a business center? that looks like a mighty great no of lines for someone to have just for personal use.

presently i have just 2 mtn lines one's my main line the other is for when i decide to browse on mtn; i don't trust mtn with my main line anymore;
also 2 starcomms lines one's an office vpn and the other is what i'm using for posting this message i.e browsing.
plan to get Etisalat once i get another phone

@flyuche while you are at it why not add  look for the highest building you can find and drop your phone so that it lands directly in front of the tire a moving vehicle

@niggaman
but seriously i think flyuche said it all: it can't be done

but flyuche, just curious; are you aware of any cdma phone that can work on the gsm network?

Foreign Affairs › Re: An Iraqi Throws A Shoe At President Bush by blackweaver(m): 9:57pm On Jan 01, 2009
A reporter throws a shoe at a president during a press conference? that is a shame;
for a civilian it is bad enough but for a journalist who isn't supposed to let sentiment
come into play when on duty, the guy should be sacked and have his license or
whatever it is that journalists have revoked. It doesn't matter whether Bush deserved
it or not, the fact is that you don't throw objects at presidents, it's not only an insult
to the man; it's an insult to the country. Imagine if he had done that to the queen
of England, i don't know what they would have done to the man but it wouldn't be
good much less if it was another Arab leader

Phones › Re: Etisalat - Nigeria's 5th GSM Operator by blackweaver(m): 1:21am On Jan 01, 2009
well i'm presently on the mtn site and it shows that gprs IS 15k/sec so unless you
work in mtn or you have some inside gist that i'm not aware of, mtn IS CHEAPER for
browsing; for more info check this link: http://www.mtnonline.com/data/infopack.aspx
besides why will anyone want to use the normal gprs rate? it's much better to use a data
plan for browsing and as far as i know Etisalat hasn't started any yet - correct me if am
wrong. And until they start as far as browsing is concerned, Etisalat is definitely NOT the way to go
Phones › Re: Etisalat - Nigeria's 5th GSM Operator by blackweaver(m): 10:50am On Dec 31, 2008
but the data charge for etisalat is higher than mtn; Etisalat: N0.35/kb Mnt: 15kobo/kb
Phones › Re: Nokia Or Sony Erricson by blackweaver(m): 9:48am On Dec 31, 2008
Can anybody could recommend an SE phone that costs less than 35k,
has 3g and runs on a s60 v3 phone? i like s60v3 pones 'cs of the way
i can get applications to xtend their functionalities.
and it has to be brand new am not into those unreliable roadside phones
Phones › Re: In Need Of Cheap 3g Phone by blackweaver(m): 2:52am On Dec 31, 2008

Phones › Re: Updating Firmware On Nokia E71 by blackweaver(m): 2:47am On Dec 31, 2008
Are you crazy? e be like say money full ur hand, what are these busg that you want tofix anyway?
anyway i don't have an E71, what ui would say is that if you want to uograde ur firmware you
MUST have a reliable internet connection and it's advisable that you are charging your phone.
That error you are seeing seems like a connectivity error; can you access your phone via pc-suite
otherwise? besides i hope your phone is still working well. if yourpcsuite is working well it might
mean that you need to install the updater again; google up for other possible solutions
Phones › Re: Nokia Or Sony Erricson by blackweaver(m): 4:38pm On Dec 30, 2008
you know on second thoughts maybe SE does give Nokia a good run for its money
after all, i just have a question from SE users, how durable are they?
i have been using an e50 for over a year and i can't count how many times it has
fallen - a number of times to the point that the battery has fallen out however my screen
is still intact; am just curious are SEs that resistant to falling too?
Not that it matters, am a strictly Nokia series 60 fan
Phones › Re: Nokia Or Sony Erricson by blackweaver(m): 4:26pm On Dec 30, 2008
@n.oxide

while we are at it we may add a more comparisons

Release date
P1i July, 2007
E61i February, 2007
E51 September 2007

Camera
P1i 3.2MP
E61i 2MP . . . wtf
E51 2MP

I shouldn't even have written this, everyone, even u knows SE cameras are better than Nokia cameras
Agreed SEs probably have better cameras

Bluetooth
P1i v2.0 with A2DP
E61i v1.2
E51 v2.0 with A2DP
A2DP is that stuff that makes ur bluetooth support a wireless headset. It stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile

Weigth?
P1i 124g
E61i 150g
E51 100g

just to let u know that ur phone doesn't have too weigh a ton before u can have all the good stuff, afterall size doesn't really matter

EDGE/GPRS
P1i NO EDGE, Class 10 GPRS
E61i Class 10 EDGE, Ordinary GPRS
E51 Class 32 EDGE class 32 GPRS

3g
The same for both e61i & p1i: 384 kbps
for E51: HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps

According to the slot price list am looking at:
E61: 45k, P1i: 41k, E51 : 31k5

ok, E51 doesn't have a qwerty keyboard but all the same given a choice it isn't too
hard to see which of the three i would choose.
I admit, the p1i floors the e61 but the fact still remains even among nokia phones
you can find something cheaper that also floors the E61i

My point is while you can definitely find some SE phones that will floor some Nokia
phones of the same price range, you could also find some other nokia phones that
will also floor the said phone point being ur comparison reference is not the best
Romance › Re: Can You Catch Yourself Before You Fall In Love? by blackweaver(m): 2:43am On Dec 30, 2008
Topup are you a psychiatrist or a literary writer? you tend to use so many words,
my finger is sore from scrolling down - ok just kidding.
personally i agree with the person that said love is a choice, i think there's a great
difference between attraction even infatuation and love and one of the problems in many
relationships is that people are going through one or the other and they mistake it for
love

Politics › Re: Lagos Bans Governors, Others From Use Of Sirens by blackweaver(m): 11:43am On Nov 13, 2008
Yeah nice idea i agree but like many other people, i wonder how he will
enforce it, after all this year they said they would start fining vehicles: cars, bikes trucks
that drive against traffic; many bikes still do so and get away without even a warning.
Also i thought there was also a law against buying stuff on the road during holdups
and such but if anyone has been caught for patronising those that sell on the road,
i am yet to hear of it. My point is this: if it's so difficult to enforce laws made for 'ordinary'
civilians, how does he intend to enforce laws against fellow governors? who's going
to arrest them for violating these rules the traffic wardens that are less armed than
the security personnel in the governor's convoy?
