Terrorism Financing: Dozens Arrested In Nationwide Crackdown

Dozens of persons have been arrested by security agents in an ongoing nationwide crackdown on suspected financiers and collaborators of Boko Haram and other criminal groups in Nigeria, Daily Trust reports.

This is coming five months after Daily Trust exclusively reported the jailing of six Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates over allegations of terrorism financing.

The ongoing inter-agency operation is being led by a top intelligence officer, with an army general leading a task team comprising military personnel and staff from intelligence services.

Multiple sources informed Daily Trust that the closely guarded operation is being coordinated by Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

As part of the operation, billions of naira traced to businesses belonging to persons of interest have been blocked in banks in series of “post no debit” letters sent out to banks by the CBN and NFIU. The apex bank has also lately obtained court orders directing freezing of dozens of accounts flagged for suspicious transactions.

While officials expressed hope that the ongoing operation would be a “game-changer” in the lingering fight against Boko Haram insurgents and other criminal gangs, some analysts say the method may not provide the needed elixir as terrorists and bandits operate largely outside the financial system.

A security source familiar with the operation confided in our reporter that the operation started last year with massive gathering and analysis of financial intelligence and drawing uplink analysis, leading to the initial marking of some 60 businesses and individuals.

A source disclosed to Daily Trust that an initial list of 957 suspects comprising bureau de change operators, gold miners and sellers, and other businessmen are being acted upon.

Already, according to the source, about 400 persons have been arrested in series of arrests in Kano, Borno, Abuja, Lagos, Sokoto, Adamawa, Kaduna and Zamfara.

In Kano, a major focus for the operation, traders at the foreign exchange open market in Wapa, Fagge Local Government, were picked up on March 9, 15th and 16th.

How many months or years should a soldier spend in the Northeast before he can be redeployed?

I met a soldier who told me he has spent 3years and 2months in my location. I felt it’s not right angry A soldier should not spend more than 24months in the NE. A soldier committed suicide last week in a Battalion under our Brigade.

Sincerely PTSD is real. If someone like me chilling in an NGO Guest house with Internet, DSTV, sport equipments can still have PTSD, I really wonder how our guys in the trench are coping
Baba, 24months is too much. The standard should be 9months at most

Sincerely I feel it’s unfair. In fact, if possible they should be switching Soldiers here on rotation between Northern and Southern Borno.

Many Soldiers in my location have never witnessed an attack since January 2018 till date.

While in Northern Borno I don’t think any Soldier has stayed up to six month without exchanging gun fire with ISWAP.

My GOC is enjoying his Aircondition in office and room grin, while a GOC in Marte/Dikwa or Ngala is sweating it out.

Army Guys here please has the Brigade returned back to Dikwa or its still in Marte cool
A soldier that hasn't seen combat in a time of war? Hmm...this doesn't bode well for their marksmanship skills. Little wonder such soldiers can't hold their own in a firefight

When James Harden was lighting up the league in 18/19 nobody was shouting MVP (except me of course, my receipts are here smiley). Man literally went 32 games scoring at least 30, averaging 41 in the process. But here we are with Curry going on an 11-game streak scoring 30 and his shameless fanboys are screaming MVP. Not to even add to the fact that he's languishing in 9th position. In 18/19 Harden finished 4th with a record if 53-29, just 4 games behind 1st placed Warriors.

That was the biggest robbery in the history of this game. Las las this game na about love and hate. Harden isn't as loved as Curry. If it were Curry that had those numbers in 18/19 he's winning the MVP straight up. Fans don't like Harden, and that's just the plain truth.
Because he was doing it with approximately 15+ free throws and suspect foul calls from the ref.

Curry doesn't get as much calls as harden. Curry is a better shooter and offensive player and most media guys know it.

Make una yarn another thing abeg

I wish you did not reply this intelligently. Just call the post rubbish and move on. An intelligent person would have looked at the control experiment: Suns and GSW without CP3 and Curry to see what obtains. Just from last season, Suns had 19 more wins than GSW. Today it is 12 with both players featuring (never mind how many games Curry missed). Bearing in mind, pound for pound, Suns has a far better roster than GSW. I mean, look at GSWs bench compared to the Suns. What do some people smoke when they type? GSW is essentially a G-league outfit barring 2 All star level players and 2 other good players without Klay. Some crapanalyst wants you to believe Wiggins is not enjoying career highs in FG% and 3 PT shooting playing with Curry. With all the injuries GSW have faced this season despite their bad roster, it is CP3's so-called floor general coordination that would have given GSW 6 more wins. Nairaland needs a dislike and mute button abeg.
You guys didn't need to reply the CP3 fanboy. CP3 is a better floor general because he passes to teammates who actually get the points. Apart from Curry, I can't mention another consistent shooter on the GSW team. Curry still managed to beat the assist record of GSW even with shitty teammates. This tells you how good a passer he is (and very underrated). CP3 wouldn't do as good as curry in this situation.

The dude is just a curry hater looking for every avenue to troll. But he wasn't intelligent doing it

Are you giving up on fed govt job search or on the betterment of your life? If it's the former, then it's fair. If it's the latter, then you're being unreasonable and unfair to yourself and your parents and family.

Let's view it from the former; you already know that there are no free fed govt jobs. No fair recruitment. Nearly all the people working in MDA's got it through job buying or 5G connection. You're not the only one without connection. You can choose to hustle, save up and buy your own job too.

For the latter; daben, you want to give up bcoz you don't have a white collar job, a house, a car, or maybe a wife etc! You can actually be happy with your life without some of these things. First, erase your mind from the fact that you're a graduate. This is really deceiving a whole lot of us. Hide your certificates and go out and do dirty jobs. Go lekki/Ajah, enter building sites and become a labourer there. Pick up a driving job. Pick up janitor's job, etc! Your goal should be to save up and buy your fed govt dream job. Talk to family members, extended family, church people, friends, etc, to help you make up the money when you've saved up to a reasonable amount.

In getting married, forget classy Lagos babes. Go to your village and get a local girl who can read or write. Some of these village girls are graduates too. Pay dowry and do some other traditions and take your wife home. You don't need crowd. Just your family members. You can do white wedding when money come. You can even do white without involving much people. My inlaw(younger brother to my brother's wife) did his white wedding reception at KFC eating section. They were not more than 10. Just rice, chicken and soft drinks.

And then also, once a while, go hang out. Give yourself a good treat. Drink beer, chop shawama, chop pizza. Be happy with life. God gave it freely. Forget about the riches of this world and make yourself happy in your little way. I am not a motivational speaker. I just dey feel your pain as a guy like me.

The use of bad bp machines was intentional.

You see, the NA needed to screen people out by any means necessary and ran out of ideas...hence their resort to chicanery.

They will reap what they sow.

MrSuama:
This thread is supposed to be a resource center but the manner in which people are assuming go make them taste similar faith.

Why una think say men lockup after the screening? Most of us were battling with post Falgore traumatic syndrome.

About 60 percent of the population were dropped on Bp issues without review.

A case study is that of the white horse from Yobe during SSC screening. The guy was diagnosed with HBp ( about 200 or so) yet in almost all the races they ran, he came first. How can a person with such Bp run 10km and about 60km cumulatively and still be alive. Guess what, he was dropped also due to HBp.

I personally know of a very fit intelligence non commissioned officer from my state, who was an instructor during the RRI screening at Falgore, yet the Baba was screened out for Bp.

No doubt destiny played a special role in everything, notwithstanding, almost the whole process was flawed.
Bro, it's not even wise arguing with people who weren't there.

Those BP readings were flawed and the officials knew this. However, they wanted to reduce population by all means necessary and couldn't think if another fair way of doing so.

It is quite painful. I spoke to a colonel about my experiences online and he was really saddened at what the NA has become.

Imagine people who didn't even write the exams being screened too. Some failed and yet they were allowed at the screening grounds because of 5G connection.

Baba, there's something seriously wrong with this country. The earlier our Leaders come to terms with this reality, the better.

Imagine someone like Major Adanu in the army. That man doesn't even look fit and yet I can imagine that someone fitter was dropped for him. That's Naija for you.

I mean, some recruitments should be sacred due to the sensitive nature of the job, yet the NA allowed politicians to bastardize their recruitment. Why won't we struggle with boko haram and iswap? Henceforth, I've lost all pity for our service chiefs since they know the right thing to do and have refused to do it. They have refused to recruit fairly, procure the right weapons etc and yet they are looking for sympathy from Nigerians. They don't deserve any.
