VaselineCrew: That’s fine and I admire the fact that you are always well prepared, with your ID on hand.
However, you already stated in your response that it’s advisable and not mandated and that’s were the crux of the matter lies.
You can’t be harassed in a developed democracy for just walking around without ID, but here in our underdeveloped democracy, they want to mandate it, hence opening the door to further harassment of innocent civilians by Nigerian authorities.
People are already complaining about sars, do we really need to add military complaints on top of that? Imagine a young chap going to his nearby store by 7pm to quickly get some fruits, holding only cash and walking. Then he runs into some overzealous military men that DEMAND for his ID at random. Why should such a guy be required to have an ID in that scenario?
There are spheres of society where IDs are mandated without interfering with personal freedoms, like for transportation. You are required to have a valid drivers licence to operate a motor vehicle. You are required to have a passport to board an international bound airplane...
This does not translate to the personal lives of citizens, as being required to present an ID at all times, even when one has done nothing wrong and isn’t operating a vehicle, or under any institution that requires it, is an infringement on ones personal freedoms. You can't expect less in countries like Nigeria. In some developed country your finger print is enough to identify you. It is all about systems in place. Thank God for NIN, if possible they can inculcate that but where they don't have such, they'll still want to carry out their stupendous approach. My concern, is what is he job if NPF with all their units which includes antiterrorism and NSCDC |

VaselineCrew: What corrupt officer will stop a pedestrian walking and start demanding for ID card?
In America? Bros haba na!
If you did something wrong, then yes, a police office will need to identify you to book you, but please I don’t believe there is a law in Atlanta that states one must carry ID at all times, haba. From my understanding, it is advisable to have an ID on you even though you aren't mandated. Without Ary operation whatever, I always have an ID with me. |

Lordpeckxy: The Institute? Haaa!! I vividly remember when we were introduced to Visual Basic, Its quite funny when the lecturer won't come to class, but I believe as a student you are suppose to be better than your Lecturer, But if you depend on your Institute then brother you are far from right.!!! Even across the borders of Nigeria, the professor can only so much, you are the one to push yourself to the extreme.!! It is still reliant on the institute. Everywhere looking unkept computers not working, no value culture, copy and paste lecturers etc. Go to foreign universities UK, Canada Australia and their likes, lecturers don't spoon feed well but you don't need to be told to self develop immediately you step your foot in. There's adequate support system and humane environment. But here in Nigeria students study like labourers rather like goal getters |

Many of you are just commenting without reasoning. Minimum wage of 30k isn't the issue but rather increase percentage for those already earning above 30k as it appears that is the real deal. Employees on level 6 aren't much as such but from 7 upwards the percentage increase appears unaffordable for FG and here is where the tussle is. |

HappyCanadian: Hey Guys,
So I had an appointment which made me come to school early today, after that I headed to my class, as I walked in tears dropped my eyes, the memories of how crazy my class was during my undergraduate in Naija just came to my mind.
Take a look at a class and washroom and see the difference in the garbage we have back home. A school with every amenities u could ever think of,, name it . But in 9ja all we do is to glorify politicians that are illiterate, incompetent, corrupt and clueless, imagine the kind of president we have in this 21st century coupled with the cabals, how do we move forward?
Let me not talk of TRIBALISM AND ETHNIC BIGOTRY sef.. Well I won't say much, I am happy I left and I am cool but winter will soon come I will only think of Naija if I wanna come to see my Mum and siblings.
We need to do better in that country. Imagine a country with educated elites and see who is ruling us. And worst of it is that many Nigerian youths focus on irrelevant things probably scared of being picked up if they talk. If our government was responsible and accountable we would have had a better place.
Most times the weird and barbaric news I read here its saddening. It wasn't as bad as this when GEJ was in power but we won't accept the truth.
Say whatever u want to say but it doesn't concern me until I decide to come home briefly, I am only speaking for the good of all.
May God help Us.. Peace! You goofed when you started saying it wasn't worst during GEJ. The same mentality that led us here is what you have displayed. We have always lacked the right amenities, development and attitude GEJ or not. Be truthful to yourself. |

Who created this topic? It's like saying some countries can be recolonised. Apartheid is gone for good. For anyone to even think of Apartheid means that means lacks futuristic think. In many solutions it's apartheid that can be thought of. Why not all African countries cutting diplomatic ties with SA. AU should first address the low human development index in Africa. |

Londonboyrep: Yes please long overdue. This is app is ridiculous and truly a breach of privacy. The app actually saves your name as what majority of others have saved your name as. I once checked my number on the app and saw my name saved a derogatory sexually explicit name that some of my friends call me as a joke. Funny right? Until I lost a business deal just because someone I was trying to do business with was convinced I lied about my name just because truecaller says I'm called something else! I can understand if it pulls the data from the owner of the number but it doesn't and this, in my view, is the main flaw with this app. Why should someone choose to make my name and number available to everyone especially without my permission? Disgrace of an app! Truecaller never made you loose your biz, that potential client is actually an idiotic illiterate |
