davodyguy:First of all, how many uneducated billionaires do you know? Second, what is the ratio of death between educated billionaires and their uneducated counterparts? If you haven't considered the above questions, then you have merely assumed that every elite billionaire always lived longer than every uneducated billionaire. You assumption may not be the case. That is why in the sciences, we always carry out an experiment or a non-experimental study such as cross-sectional which would be most fitting for the kind of assumption (educated guess) that you have made. Until you have tested your guess, you should not be arguing about it so boldly. |
themonk:Immorality is relative, not subjective. A? ¬A Where A? = what is A? ¬A = is not A A?¬A = What is A(?) is not A. For example Supposing A is a dog Does it make any sense to determine the identity of A and then make a negative statement after about A? Is this statement correct: A is a dog is not a dog? Of course not because A will always be A. If you are taken by your subjective reasoning and argue that A is a cat when in fact A is a dog, you are fooling only yourself. However, as with relativism, A is a dog might not look like a dog. A much acceptable statement. However, I don't understand how A is an immoral act does not look like an immoral act to you. For the sake of ethics and law, while it may not be a crime to sleep with married women, it is a practice that generally falls below the norms in every sane culture that we know of. Infidelity is frowned upon by many cultures, and there are even cultures such as in many Islamic states where infidelity is punished by death. Cheating is widely unacceptable. It is immoral by every standard. |
Excelinpages:The Lord's Resistance Army ( LRA ). Operates in four African countries. One of their main goals is to rule Uganda according to the Ten Commandments. Anti-balaka in the Central African Republic Also, read this: Muslims returning to ethnically-cleansed areas of western Central African Republic (CAR) have in some cases been forced to abandon their religion, said Amnesty International in a report published today. The report reveals how Muslims who have returned to their homes in large parts of western CAR following the 2014 killing spree and mass forced displacement are barred by armed anti-balaka militia from practicing or manifesting their religion in public. Some have been forcibly converted to Christianity on the threat of death. https://www.amnesty.org.uk/press-releases/central-african-republic-unprotected-muslims-forced-abandon-religion Amnesty found that in western CAR, outside of areas where Muslims live under the protection of UN peacekeepers, Muslims have no freedom to practice their religion in public. Prayers are effectively banned, traditional Muslim clothing cannot be freely worn, and the reconstruction of mosques, an estimated 400 of which were destroyed across the country, is not allowed. Elsewhere in CAR, in Bangui and Carnot, only a handful of mosques have been rebuilt. [Same Link as above] A Christian militia is suspected to have killed 12 people, including children, and wounded 30 others in an attack in the Central African Republic (CAR), officials say. "Among the victims were children and a disembowelled pregnant woman. Some managed to escape and there are more than 10 wounded who have been transferred to Bangui," an unnamed military official is quoted by AFP news agency as saying. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-25216351 |
excel001:Christianity has its own bloody past too. So, there was a time in history when Christianity took its own intolerance beyond words and executed non-Christians, especially Jews and Muslims. And there are still countries today where Christian terrorists target Muslims. Fanaticism can predict violence, and many of you Christians are fanatics. You show your own intolerance by cursing out and insulting people with contrary opinions. Supposing you have guns, you would be murdering those atheists and Muslims up and down. But gun running is not very popular down south, and guns here are used to commit other heinous crimes such as armed robbery, thuggery, and kidnappings. But in the North, guns always seem to come cheaply into people's hands just as guns got into the hands of Fulani herdsmen. I still maintain my stance that Muslims are on the average more tolerant than Christians. Christians appear to be peaceful because they hardly resort to violence for religious purposes, but their intolerance is evident. For example, Freeze has been using Bible verses to teach the Word for sometime now. It turned out that he stopped getting called to functions which was obviously a case of blacklisting. While the Muslims might have killed Freeze for touching on issues that they disagree with, Christians are finding other ways to persecute Freeze. So, what is the difference? The difference is in the type of persecution. One group (Muslims) will kill Freeze, one group (Christians) will blacklist Freeze in the hope that he would not get gigs and would definitely shut up. As far as religion is concerned, especially the 3 major Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), there is nothing like religious tolerance. Any of these religion is capable of breeding terrorism. All these three religions have been violent at one time or the other in their history. And all these religions are still violent even till today. There are Muslim terrorist groups, there are Christian terrorist groups and there are Jewish terrorist groups. China did not just ban Islam. They banned religion. They are closing down churches and cracking down on priests and pastors just as much as they are driving Islam out. China understands that any form of religion is capable of breeding terrorism. It is not only Islam. |
excel001:I don't know why you people like to get violent when someone opposes you. The difference between you and a Boko Haram member is in the type of violence. While the Boko Haram member kills, the average Nigerian Christian curses and gets very insultive and mannerless. For the record, Buhari rejected Boko Haram's nomination and has long put it off as a ploy to ruin his name by the then ruling PDP. As for Buhari's words concerning killing Boko Haram members, it could be merely the words of a politician appealing to the North for support. After all, the then president, GEJ, called Boko Haram members his brothers. And like I wrote earlier, many of you Christians are too rude and intolerant. When someone opposes you, your first reaction is always to throw insults. I must confess, Muslims are on the average more tolerant than Christians. Put it to the test. Go to the Muslim thread and abuse Allah. They would either ignore you or tell you to leave their thread. But abuse a mere man like Oyedepo, and all these Christians will start frothing around the mouth. Hypocrites!!! |
odehaj:The emir of Gwoza that was killed by Boko Haram in 2014 was a Christian abi? The Borno mosque that was bombed in 2016 that killed 22 early morning worshippers was owned by your pastor abi? And the 22 worshippers that died inside were Christians abi? Some of you Christians are just too mannerless and obviously violent by nature. |
He has gone to enjoy himself in the pretence of shopping for firetrucks. |
izospindle:If you can afford to lose the 70k, by all means, lend him, form or not. But I will tell you something, never lend money to friends. It doesn't always end well. It destroys relationships. So, if you have any amount that you can afford to lose, give him. For me, I can't afford to lose 70k. Although, there might be exceptions. But I will never lend a friend 70k to pay school fees for a girlfriend. |
qtx:No country has defeated terrorism. And as for Buhari, he has tried by drastically limiting the actions of Boko Haram. The frequency and sophistication of attacks has reduced. Before Buhari, Boko Haram had recorded casualties even outside Borno. They had recorded massive casualties even in Abuja when they masterminded the Nyanya bombings. But today, Boko Haram has been reduced solely to kidnappings. When last did we hear of a Boko Haram bombing or a high number of casualties at a point in time? The reason why terrorism is hard to defeat is due to the brainwashing and blackmailing tactics that the terrorists use in recruiting people. Like one soldier said once, "the more you kill them, the more they come." The question is: "why are these young men and women never scared to die?" Even our soldiers get scared sometimes and run away. But these men don't seem to give a damn about dying. It is the effect of serious brainwashing. It is like those Christians who have been brainwashed into believing something. Show them Bible verses to show them that they are wrong and they would blindly argue on. |
voskia:Christians are not their only enemies. These animals hate anything that goes against their madness. Even if you are a Muslim. If you don't agree with them, they will kill you whenever they catch you. |
persius555:They cover their faces so that no one will be able to identify them. From many indications, many of these Boko Haram members lead normal lives. I even heard that in some villages, people know their neighbors who are Boko Haram members. So, they always alert the military. |
SipCoke:What is the course that has these calculations that you don't like? |
koyyes:Oya, sorry, my sweetpie. Don't be angry. This forum is for discussion. We must not always agree on every issue. And issues like this predictably return varying opinions. I understand your point. But still, killing is extreme. Even in many countries, murderers are no longer sentenced to death. Death sentence has been cancelled in many jurisdictions, and what we have now is life sentence. This is in respect of the sanctity of life. Life is precious. |
Sirumosam:Look at his head like olumo rock. Trying to cash in on an unfortunate situation. |
koyyes:E pain am ![]() |
Afospecialk:Not when they are abroad. They always respect themselves when they are on missions outside the country. |
Lordave:. Please, stop it. The Sultan of Sokoto is one of the most neutral prominent figures in Nigerian when it comes to politics. And supposing he is not even neutral, Buhari can tamper with his choice and nothing will happen. If Sokoto breaks into a riot, the president will simply declare a state of emergency and soldiers will be everywhere do deal mercilessly with miscreants. Just keep one thing in mind: the most prominent figure in the North presently is Muhammadu Buhari. His influence is comparable only to that enjoyed by Ahmadu Bello while he was alive. Not even the Sultan of Sokoto comes close to Buhari in terms of influence. And it has little to do with his position as president. |
Kingpele:Don't mind them. They don't understand that in law, black is not always black. It is the way you present your argument that will convince the jury or judge to pass judgments in your favor. But the emotions of these people will not allow them understand. |
Kobicove:It is not a crime, but it can put you in trouble in a country such as ours where law enforcement is largely a joke. |
hisexcellency34:She had not begun training. And yes, a civilian can kill a soldier. Soldiers are human beings after all. They are flesh and blood, not spirits. |
StarUp:Rather thank God. No matter how careful a driver is, he is not prone to accidents. Some madmen may run into his path. I remembered driving to Lagos from Ibadan. The road was narrow but had traffic going opposite ways. My lane was moving slowly while the other lane was moving freely. Suddenly, I heard a screech of tyres ahead. One madman who was on our lane had moved into the free moving lane withour checking first. A truck was moving quickly through the free lane and on seeing the car of the madman, he swerved onto my own lane just to avoid that madman. The bus in front of me took a slight bashing before the truck driver swerved back onto his lane and then collided with the car of the madman, dragging it through the road. We just thank God it was not a truck loaded with oil. No one died. |
koyyes:The question is for you. I suppose you can read. A supposed lady with bloated ego wants to understand what I am pointing at but didn't bother to read my other post more out of sheer illiteracy than incipient laziness. Read my other post that you refused to read and then see if you might be tempted to ask this question. |
koyyes:I am not such a man who touches people without their consent, whether men or women, boys or girls. And my self-control is what has helped me avoid troubles, especially with women of your kind who run their mouths like baskets. |
Parablesonmarble:When Anthony Joshua lived a world of crime, Britain never rejected him. As a matter of fact, a British judge gave Anthony Joshua a chance at a better life. When Joshua was caught with drugs, the judge told him he better chose one--prison or boxing. Joshua chose boxing. So, you people should stop all this persecution nonsense. There are many foreign professors in American universities. It doesn't take away their nationalities, does it? |
gwinaB:Who told you he is an American? I still have the original news article on my phone since last year or thereabouts. The man was explicitly described as a Nigerian. |
ajalawole:You are welcome, bro. And I like the fact that you are not selfish. You are concerned not just for yourself, but for every human being which is why you are not just thinking of packing out but resolving the issues even for those who will take the room after you. Good luck. |
ajalawole:Report to the state environmental protection agency. If you are in Lagos state, the agency to write/report to is LASEPA. |
koyyes:Many of you have very limited understanding of what self-defence is. Self defence is a countermeasure . How is stabbing someone a countermeasure for waist touching? |
koyyes:One does not need to get physical to make a case for provocation or to begin a doom. Cyber bullying can lead to criminal charges. It is an act of provocation and you can make a case for it at the police station. Yet, it does not involve physical contact but still has the capacity to push the victim to commit suicide. You are the one who needs to think. The summary of the police statement stated that the man was stabbed after he had been warned severally by the suspect. That boils down to provocation, and not the mere physical contact. Whatever happened besides touching her waist is only speculations to the court. What the court will admit is the police report and the testimonies of everyone involved directly or indirectly. It is not our duty to fill up those stories. If they are not in the police report, then they are your speculations to the court. This is a clear case of voluntary manslaughter. She was provoked into using the bottle, but that will not be enough to save her from serving at least 3 years in prison. |
