EMILO2STAY:Parker beat Takam and scored a knockdown against Whyte yet he needed a fraudulent decision to beat Ruiz. Do you know Lennox Lewis? AJ is nowhere as good as Lewis was. Yet Rahman beat Lewis in 2001 in one of the greatest upsets in boxing. Upsets happen in every sport. It happens in football, MMA, wrestling, tennis, etc when a small team or fighter beats the favorite and shakes the world. And yes, I have watched many of AJ's fights. Now, let me ask my own question. Have you watched any of Ruiz's fights? |
duality:I also agree with Foreman. When Lennox Lewis was beaten by Rahman, everyone knew that Rahman was just lucky. Lewis had had little time to train and was busy acting a movie when he should be training. He underestimated Rahman and was beaten and he lost his belts. When they had the rematch, Lewis expectedly beat Rahman. But Anthony Joshua is not a beast like Lennox Lewis. Anthony Joshua is nowhere as good as Lennox Lewis. He should get his acts right if he hopes to fight so soon (November) because Ruiz would beat him again. This time, he won't even see the 7th round. And when he loses again, he would be totally finished. Hearn should have him fight some journeymen for a start. He needs his confidence back and he needs to learn on the job. Without all these, Ruiz would finish him in the rematch. |

EMILO2STAY:Bro, your level of ignorance is staggering. Rematch clauses are not new. There was a rematch clause when an underdog Rahman beat world champion Lennox Lewis in a fight that shocked the world. Using your mentality, it means Lewis also fixed his loss to Rahman. And you call Ruiz the bumest fighter AJ has met yet you are forgetting that he is the only one who has beaten AJ. You are also forgetting that Ruiz is the only fighter who really came forward to fight. Aside Whyte and Ruiz, how many fighters really came forward to fight AJ? Klitschko was too defensive and Parker was too careful. But Ruiz kept coming at AJ and using his fast hands. It is disrespectful to AJ and Ruiz to say that the fight was fixed. |
ORIENTATION101:Bro, just stop showing so much ignorance. When Parker became a heavyweight champion, did you hear about it? There was an upset and so it is expected that the world would buzz about it rather than about the new champion. It was exactly the same thing that happened when Rahman beat Lewis. The world would be shocked by the upset that they might not even be excited that the world of boxing has a new champion. Ruiz has worked hard to get to where he is. The only loss in his record is debatable as he was clearly robbed against Parker. Ruiz has technically never been beaten before. He has got fast hands and he likes to come to fight. Aside Whyte, everyone Joshua has fought were defensive. Ruiz came out to fight and had Joshua on the backfoot for the first time in his career. |
hermesprogidy:Thank you very much. Exactly my thought. When AJ knocked Ruiz onto the canvas, he thought he had scored a KO. Even when Ruiz beat the count, AJ still felt he had the fight under his control. Then he got hit and was different from then on. |
YorubaWarrior:Then, Lewis must have also lost to Rahman to generate more revenue for a rematch? In short, all Ali's losses were fixed. In short, all boxing upsets were fixed. You people are funny. White men rationalizing the fight are talking about pre-fight injury, overconfidence, and concussion as a possible cause of Joshua's loss. Only Nigerians are talking about match fixing. The country is so corrupt that we can't even rationalize an upset without being certain that something illegal was involved. |
Needtolove:OK, I have a few questions. 1. When did the body shaming start? Were there traces of it before the marriage? 2. Do you have anger issues? Have you taken an anger issue test before? 3. What do you intend to do when you wrote that they will both get it I am after the solution rather that complicating it. |
The way our police look down on the masses is disgusting. What is the crime in asking who flashed the light? Is it an abomination to question a police officer? |
I will always remember an experience I had with a beggar in Lagos. He was a very small boy, around 10 or so. I had some change with me when the beggar came to me. I had some 20, 50 and 100 naira notes in my hand. So, I gave the beggar 20 naira but he was saying "No broda, give me fifty." I laughed and told him I could only give him 20 naira as I was not a rich man myself. The beggar became angry and insisted. I told him to run along. This boy kept following me. I got angry and told him to get out. This boy saw a broken windscreen on the ground and took a piece of glass and threatened to stab me. It was not small drama that day. I had to pick up my own piece of glass and threaten him too before this small boy backed off. |
They should thank their stars that they represented Nigeria. If it were North Korea, they would not even dare open their useless mouths to demand for match bonuses. Bunch of useless nitwits. Let them remain there in Poland. Good riddance!!! |
Hearn should get in the ring for a change. Hearn vs Joshua Snr What a fight that would be. Joshua Snr to knock Hearn out in the 9th round for sure. |

2special:Why fix to lose? They could have fixed to draw and then have a rematch. Joshua does not need any help to draw a crowd in Britain. You people should stop this speculation that he lost on purpose to have a rematch. A draw would still have led to a rematch. If this fight had ended in a draw, I could slightly believe that Joshua allowed it. But losing in such an embarrassing manner, I don't believe AJ would allow himself to be disgraced because of a rematch. Obvious factors for the loss are: 1. AJ overlooked Ruiz. He had his full attention on Wilder rather than Ruiz. 2. His camp in the US was full of distractions (the Miami beach example) while Ruiz had a much serious and focus camp. 3. AJ can't really take a punch. Every news media and pundits put it that Ruiz hit AJ over the head which affected AJ throughout the rounds to the 7th. But what I saw was a punch to AJ's right temple which made AJ jump. Ruiz rushed him and AJ suffered his first knockdown of the day. A punch to the temple can be devastating and it had a huge negative impact on AJ until the end of the game. The match was no fixed. AJ lost fair and square. After scoring a knockdown on Ruiz, he decided to go home early but Ruiz hit him on the temple and AJ was different after that. |
priceaction:The match was not fixed. You people should stop this nonsense. If the match was fixed, the least result would have been a draw. The odds for draw was also very high. No elite boxer would allow himself to be disgraced for money. |
To the ignorant ones, the match was fixed because Joshua (the loser) earned more than Ruiz (the winner). If you know nothing about boxing, then you should not pretend to or you would end up embarrassing yourself. |
The level of ignorance here is staggering. In this age, people are still asking why a loser earned more than the winner in a boxing match. And it is these same people who would be arguing blindly with people like me who have been following the sport for many years now. |
Nancy2020:AJ is worth 60. Hope you know that the worth would continue to increase if he maintained his belts? Why would he want to lose his belts for 200 when he can move closer by beating Ruiz and taking Wilder's belt and becoming the undisputed champion of the world? |
SmellingAnus:Bro, this is a simple matter. Did these teams fix to lose important matches? Did they fix to lose at all? Do you think Messi can fix to lose a World Cup semi finals or final? Messi would rather fix to win. Why did the judges have AJ clearly ahead after suffering 4 knockdowns? The match was not fixed for AJ to lose. As a matter of fact, it looked like they were even favoring Joshua. If the match had gone the distance, Ruiz would have been robbed by the judges and Joshua would have won. |
SmellingAnus:AJ has cash and record. I don't understand how any of you can think that this match was fixed. I can't imagine how AJ who has self-pride would want to lose to a Ruiz in such an embarrassing manner for cash. We are talking about AJ the Landlord who was (until today) the most marketable boxer alive. How would you even approach such an elite boxer to fix him to lose? "Hey, AJ, I want to buy your belts. You have to lose to Fatboy Ruiz. Let him punish you and score 4 knockdowns against you. Let him disgrace you in front of the world." |
emmahardgun:So that is why he allowed himself to be disgraced abi? Anyone who thinks Hearn or Joshua would fix a match for Joshua to lose needs to start reading more about what Joshua means to Hearn. |
A lot of people are looking at Ruiz's body and thinking about lazing around. Ruiz is not flabby because of lack of exercise. He is flabby because he can't help it. The guy works hard. As a matter of fact, he has just come off a camp only a few weeks back before taking the AJ fight. Don't be deceived by his body to the extent that you start filling your body with junk. In boxing, muscles can be a problem, not a solution. Ruiz is flabby but he can punch and take a punch. If you like go and become flabby like Ruiz and think you will beat a muscular guy with zero boxing skills or exercise regimen. As for the fight, some ignorant people are saying it was a fixed match as though Anthony Joshua is invisible. The truth is today was not just his day. He gassed out early and looked faded. It happens to every sportsman and woman once in a while. Some of them even end up dying in the ring or pitch. It happened to Joshua today and you could see the look of bewilderment on his face every time he went back to his corner. The truth is Joshua overlooked Ruiz and had his eyes set beyond the man. Then, it was his first fight outside the UK. I also think he needs to cut down on those bodybuilding supplements he is taking. Muscles are only good for sports that demand a burst of energy like 100 metre races. Your muscle becomes useless when you are doing sports that test endurance. |
aspirebig:You are just sounding more silly. Did you check the judges' cards? Joshua was comfortably leading. Which meant that Hearn had probably bought the judges to declare Joshua winner if the match went the distance. So, how was the match fixed for Joshua to purposely lose 3 vital belts and his market value? Until now, Joshua was the most marketable boxer in the world. Now, he has lost everything because (according to you), he lost on purpose. And because of what? Because of money that any promotion company would be more than glad to give Joshua. As for Povetkin and flu. First, every fight is different. That he beat Povetkin with flu does not mean he cannot lose to Ruiz without flu. Every fight is different. It was not like Joshua was great against Povetkin anyway. I repeat, you can only buy journeymen or boxers without heart or ambition, not an elite boxer like Joshua who had 3 belts on the line and needed only a fight with Wilder to make history. Even if Joshua was bought, I am sure he would have preferred that it was against Wilder or Fury. This is an embarrassing loss. Joshua would never fix a loss to Ruiz. Even Wilder with one belt would never do it. No man would approach an elite boxer and ask him to lose 3 belts and his market value to a Ruiz who has no belt. Hope you know that Joshua's market value has dropped drastically? He doesn't garner exciting fights and now he has no belt. Now, if he wants to fight Wilder or Fury, he is the one who would be begging for even a flat fee. Mega money are arranged behind the scenes, but it is always for journeymen or for referees. |
aspirebig: emmahardgun:The match was not fixed. Joshua lost fair and square. Or you think Joshua would have thrown away 3 belts just to pretend to lose to Ruiz? Perhaps, you don't know how boxing works. Until now, Joshua was a cash cow who filled up arenas. Now that he has lost, his market value would reduce drastically. You think Joshua would want to fix to get himself beaten when he knows he would lose 3 belts and value? If you are looking for fixed boxing matches, look in fights involving journeymen who have nothing to lose. |
Lalas247:Don't mind them. Fury will deal with him easily. However, I feel sorry for Joshua. He didn't look well going into the fight. They need to investigate the reason. Perhaps, he needs to slow down on all those body building supplements he is taking. He looked faded even in the early rounds before he even dropped Ruiz. He is overhyped but he was just totally poor against Ruiz. |
Saltybear:Don't mind those people. I have said it over and over again that Joshua is overhyped and he only looks good because of how less competitive the heavyweight class has become. Fury is way better, in my opinion. Lalas247 mentioned it too and they went abusive on her. |
Her story does not sound truthful. According to her, he was always beating her. On that fateful day, they had a quarrel, and as usual, he battered her. She ran into the restroom but came out to see that he had taken poison. Why would he take poison after battering her? She never mentioned that the deceased was ever suicidal even if for once. Suicide victims don't just take their own lives like that. They had quarrels that turned violent over the years. On the fateful day, they had another one of such quarrels and it turned violent. And then he took his own life. It is either she is lying about the cause of death or she is trying to lessen her own contribution to what caused the victim to take his own life. I will keep on saying this: Domestic violence is a four part thing. We are forgetting that it involves emotional abuse as well. Emotional abuse is even worse because it sums up all the other forms of domestic/spousal abuse. Maybe you don't beat your wife and then you regard yourself a gentleman. But what if you nag her or belittle her? What if you bully her by always shutting her up or disregarding her advice or fears or feelings? Then, you are not a gentleman. Emotional abuse is the worst form of abuse. In my opinion, if it is indeed true that he was always beating her, it is very likely that she abused him too, emotionally obviously. I can't understand why he would just kill himself within the time she escaped from the room and returned to it. She is not telling the whole truth. She has told a part of the story that favors her and places all the blames on the deceased. |
Lalas247 is right. Anthony Joshua is overhyped. However, it is no fault of his. The present heavyweight class is a fraud. Look at the three champions (Joshua, Wilder and Fury) and see who they are busy fighting this year. Over the weeks leading to today's fight, Hearn and his cash cow (AJ) have been praising Ruiz like he is the next Mike Tyson all in a bid to make Ruiz look like a serious contender. Yes, Ruiz is good. But the world wants better. Now, Wilder seems likely to rematch grandpa Ortiz who has been 40 for years now and who should be taking medications for his high blood pressure. Maybe, this time, grandpa would die in the ring. And then, there is Hearn who seems more likely to have AJ rematch Whyte. Well, the fight should make for an interesting watch. Then, maybe Fury would rematch Chisora. Three shameless heavyweight fighters wasting our time with needless boasting. |
moralistic:And they would end up giving us a very boring fight. |
Very silly title and storyline. What the heck is "Bobrisky in Love"? Bobrisky that cannot compose a sentence free of errors even if his life depended on it. Moreover, isn't it rather silly that Bobrisky (in the movie) would be revealed as pretending to be gay? Why must Bobrisky be used at all? Why does the title contain the name "Bobrisky"? |

They need the hype and noise else, Professional Heavy-weight boxing will be dead like it did after the Tyson-Douglas-Holyfield era.
