ariketalks:Wisdom. God bless you. Many Christians need to unlearn a lot of things. |
Netanyahu1:Government is not scared of any anointing. Rather they are scared of being accused of trying to islamize the country. In a religious country like Nigeria, it is hard to arrest pastors with large followers. The day we become less religious and more sincere with ourselves, the government itself will work. |
I have always said it that the punishment of these pastors is never asleep. |
Sirpaul:NYSC has long been a scam. No be today. And it is not because of this issue. Moreover, this issue is not about NYSC but about whether you need to participate in NYSC to be eligible to contest/hold a pubic office. The provision is that you need proof of NYSC to get employed. But any lawyer can make a case against NYSC participation to get contest for public office. |
Ferrous:Provisions are made for those who graduate after 30 years. However, some people graduate before 30 but skip NYSC. However, APC has a point here. While one needs proof of NYSC to get employment. I don't think one needs it to get a public office such as the office of governor. |
etcsines:Did you read the news at all? NYSC is not the issue here. The issue is also not whether you need NYSC to get employment. The issue is whether there is a law that mandates that one needs NYSC to get a public office. |
Magnifico2000:That is why we are complaining. If he had scored, there would be no need to complain. It is common sense. |
mastermaestro:Musa was in a better position to score. Football is a team sport. Ighalo should have made the pass. The scenario would have been better if Ighalo was in a better place to score than Musa. |
LilMissFavvy:Don't stoop to the OP's level. |
Ugosample:Bro, if you can't read, you shouldn't have replied my post. My post was specifically directed to another post. My post was not to pass judgment on who is right or wrong. I reacted to someone that mentioned asslicking. If you are no concerned about the asslicking part, then why did you reply my post? |
Ugosample:I don't care how you feel. All I know is that it would soon be asslicking to prostrate and greet one's parents or to take their bags from them. The excuse then would be that adults ought to have discretion as though discretion is not influenced by norms. As if we can totally separate personal judgment from sociatal norms. Perhaps, the young man was right, perhaps, he was right. That is not my call. But when some of us think he should have left his seat for the elderly man, we are no asslicking. Africans have a strong family system which emphasizes respect for elders. We once held this dearly. I don't see how this is asslicking. |
doggedfighter:That is my Queen. I love her very much. ![]() You see, when you genuinely love someone, you want to woo them over and over again. |
Ladyhippolyta88:You don't have a choice. You have to buy the African value. ![]() On our wedding day, you will have to kneel to feed me, at least. You will call me "Olowo ori mi" which translates loosely to "The owner of the money on my head". And when I am angry, you will have to pacify me with a good meal. Yorubas have a saying "Olobe lo loko". This translates loosely as "The cook owns the husband". Of course, I will love you, expectedly. ![]() |
Ladyhippolyta88:You misunderstood me, my Queen. I have not passed judgment on who is right or wrong in this case. I only reacted to the post that accused people of asslicking. I don't see how it is asslicking. I remembered my time in Lagos. How I used to stand up to let an elderly person have my seat. In Lagos of those days, you will see elderly people standing and holding on to overhead rails while young people sit with headphones to their ears. I always gave my seat out to these people. Is that asslicking? I do the same for handicapped people and pregnant women. Would that pass as asslicking? With the way things are going, it would soon be asslicking to do things that we once held dearly as Africans. |
hisexcellency34:Where is the asslicking here? Until the white man brought his colonialism, elders were accorded huge respect in Nigeria, even in your Igboland. There are many proverbs to that effect. There is no asslicking here. Any Nigerian that is well brought up would have been shocked even if the elderly person was a nobody. There is no asslicking here. I would have gladly forfeited my seat for any elderly person whether they are Soyinka or not. It is just my upbringing. |
OGHENAOGIE:You are the biggest fool in the world. Show me where I wrote that partying is wrong? Alcohol is not bad. It even has health benefits. But when you consume it excessively and it becomes to affect your life, then it becomes a problem. Mikel was constantly partying to the extent that he was missing trainings. Is that a good thing to do? Will you party when you should be at work at a period in your life when you should be building your career. Yet again, you are bringing Iheanacho in this. Perhaps, you cannot remember how high Mikel's profile was after that youth world cup. Who is Iheanacho again? He was only touted as a natural striker. Nothing else. Mikel was seen as midfielder with the potential to rule the world. |
OGHENAOGIE:Your stupidity is staggering. We are talking about Mikel, you talking nonsense. Perhaps, you need to go back and read news articles in 2005. Mikel was not just one of the best players in the 2005 u20 World Cup, but he was someone whom everyone knew had the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world. His gift was obvious to some of the best coaches of that time. And he had started well on the pitch with Chelsea, but partying and constant absence in training destroyed him. |
udemzyudex:See who is talking about comprehension skills. I asked if we should condone badness because politicians are bad? If you can't read with understanding, stay off replying posts. Read and pass. |
OGHENAOGIE:Don't be stupid. Messi and Mikel were the two best players in that competition and coming off that competition, the world was expecting much from Mikel. We all remember the struggles of Manchester United and Chelsea over him, including court injunctions. Go and read about what Mourinho said about Mikel when Chelsea eventually won the rights to him. Even Messi did not get so much buzz. As for legends, Mikel does not come close to the first 10 even among the midfielders that we have had. |
udemzyudex:So, because politicians are bad, we should condone badness? Moreover, we are not talking about protests, but criticism. I criticize politicians failing in their duties. There is no need to be sentimental when someone is serving poorly. I am am an auditor. If I fail in my duties, a lot of people will be affected and I should expect and accept criticisms. Mikel Obi partied and missed trainings in his earliest seasons in Chelsea and was almost sacked if not for his father flying in to beg. Still, Mikel barely took training seriously. Mourinho did not destroy Mikel. Mikel destroyed himself. In fact, Mikel has Mourinho to thank for his stay in Chelsea. Other coaches would have sacked him for his lack of seriousness and constant partying. Mikel is also known for selecting matches, especially when it comes to Nigeria. Siasia wanted him on the 2008 Olympics football team, but Mikel declined. The same thing happened recently when he kept giving Rohr excuses. This is a nonsense he can never try with a coach like Westahof. That is why Oliseh gave Ahmed Musa the captain's band rather than Mikel. Mikel lacks commitments to country. |
udemzyudex:Taxpayers' money go into preparing these guys for the AFCON. They are not doing it for free. They should be criticized when they do a bad job. If you pay a mechanic to check your car, and he does a below par job, won't you complain? As for your question, not everyone is a footballer. The fact that someone is not a footballer does not mean he can't criticize a footballer. I don't have to be a doctor to criticize a doctor who has failed to do the job he is paid handsomely to do. I am not trying to judge Mikel's level of competency as I do believe that he is very talented but was destroyed by a lack of seriousness and ambition. This was a guy who was sought after by major clubs after the 2005 u20 world cup. He went to Chelsea and led a reckless life while Messi was busy building his own career. Today, we can see where Messi and Mikel stand as far as reputation is concerned. In my opinion, Mikel should not even be in this team, not because of age or a lack of talent, but because of his obvious lack of commitment. Ahmed Musa should be captain. |
gwmlogistic:The pitch. Especially the one that Egypt and Zimbabwe played on. |
All the pitches used so far look too small for a major competition like the AFCON. |
ikewaterwater:This grandpa is 21? Anyway, get well soon. |
hoopLA:Thank you, my brother. |
Nigeria vs Burundi. Nigeria Double Chance BTTS: Yes. Analysis (By Bluntboy) Super Eagles have a poor striking force. They have fired blank in their last two games. It would be a miracle if they achieve more than a goal margin against Burundi. The Burundians have a great striking force. In their last 6 matches, they have scored in every game, including against a rejuvenated Tunisian squad this month, and they have only lost once in 10 matches, including against a more fancied Malian squad. With our crops of goalkeepers, Burundi would get a goal. However, the experience of the Super Eagles would be too much for them just as the experience of the Tunisians was too much to cope with. The Burundian squad is very compact and physical. As debutants, they will be under less pressure, and are very likely to pose the toughest opposition to the Super Eagles in our supposedly easy group. In 2013, it took two penalties to save us from an onslaught of Ethiopian attacks. The same would happen this evening. However, inexperience would be Burundi's greatest undoing in the match. Correct Score: 2-1 in favor of Nigeria. |
Briller:It doesn't have to be pretence. Marriage is much deeper than you and Abioye can ever understand. Abioye should not even be discussing pre-marital financial commitments. |
luminouz:Which makes it bad advice. How should a man show commitments financially before marriage? The Bible is quite conservative when it comes to dating. I was a little less conservative by even discussing terms such as love and respect. I will take it that Abioye wants to be more accommodating by considering the modern trend of dating and financial commitments to somebody you are not responsible to under the laws of the land and church. Even at that, it is still bad advice. |
luminouz:Abioye's advice is misleading. I would like to read the advice in full. But for that part that I read, it is bad advice. For one thing, any man can show commitments financially just to get what he wants. It is one major reason why people lament "He/she didn't use to be like this before marriage. He/she has changed". A man showing financial commitments before marriage does not mean that he would foot bills during the marriage. Some men can go to Jupiter and back just to impress a lady. Wait until they finally marry her. Many things happen to commitments during marriages. And it is not necessarily due to the diminishing of love. I think it is time pastors stopped dabbling into deeper/relative aspects of relationships. They should rather emphasize mutual love and respect which is exactly what the Bible emphasizes. |
Is it an abomination for a woman to foot bills? Supposing the man showed financial commitments before marriage but then loses everything later, should the woman run? |
bunmconig:Obviously from eyewitnesses's accounts. That is why police question those who witness crimes. |
