doctokwus:Well that makes him the right man for the job. Someone out for vengeance will be difficult to compromise. We need these monies back. |
Surprisingly, it may be Jonathan who is providing the information on who to prosecute. The secret meeting with Buhari comes to mind. Jonathan maybe utterly disappointed with the outcome of the elections and the roles certain individuals played, especially spending some much from the treasury, only to see some individuals enjoying from the loot. I recall reading from the dailies that in the 6 weeks period to the election, Jonathan was solely responsible for his campaign after been disappointed by many PDP chieftains. |
Why would sun newspaper label these thugs as Niger delta militants? First, there are no militants again due to the amnesty program. Second, the location mentioned are not in Niger Delta. If the government is listening to these folks, then crime pays in this country. |
bumpy5ng:For what? They destroyed their school. That is a crime and they should pay for it. If you don't want to do the time, don't do the crime. It baffles me all the time, little disagreement between students and authorities always boil down to destruction. Why burn down properties? |
naijamark:Good comment |
I don't believe this news. However, I do believe that modern diseases are genetically modified e.g Ebola, HIV, SARS, Zika Virus etc Viruses are easy to develop in the laboratory. It is the consequential effect that makes it astonishing. Many super pharmaceutical companies are popular in developing viruses. Recently, I watched a television program - Real time with Bill Maher, where a research scientist claimed he treats HIV and has treated Charlie Sheen with no traces of the virus. He uses alternative method. He published his report but medical institute refused to make them public. He has discovered this cure a long time ago and there have been attempts on his life. In order for him to convince Charlie Sheen, he injected Charlie's blood in his own system before treatment. Questions are why is his research not made public and why are they denying him publicity? |
worlexy:This is going to be my last comment to you. You have made claims which have been refuted by many on this thread. You have posted irrational comments which prove you are a demented soul. I am not an APC or PDP member, but a Nigerian. Without Nigeria, there will be no political party, hence, my views will not be divided based on the affiliation to any political party. Wake up from you slumber, you sloth. |
worlexy:Please go through my timeline, that should assist you to ascertain my age bracket and also the possibility to ascertain what I do for a living. You continue to belong to the category of nairalanders I term Ignorant, Naive and ethnically biased |
tuniski:I have noted this error. |
worlexy:For christ sake, this man or boy, go and research. Google can help you out. Your comments are just out of point. |
agitator:Did my comment indicate anything close to Tompolo. I pity your mind, it is beclouded by stupidity. |
worlexy:You continue to spill garbage from the nutmeg of a skull you have. Unfortunately for your ego, I do not belong to the category that would not criticise the president on misguided policies. I do not form any alliance rather than that of national interest. I am not myopic or ethnically biased like yourself who would jump into conclusions without logical reasoning. FYI, Nigeria is not meeting its own production quota because of the recent pipeline explosion. Nigeria cannot exceed its rationed quota allotted to it by OPEC. Hence, for folks like you, this publication is an eye-opener. To address your comment, I did not hear or read from the President directly, that he would stabilise oil prices because that it very impossible. Oil prices are determined by market forces and even supply manipulations from OPEC is still part of market forces. The decline in Oil prices, which has been termed as Oil Glut, is as a direct consequence of many suppliers in the market, even the Syria crisis is not sufficient enough to create scarcity. The decline started from the US Shale Oil production and the decline of the United State in its demand for oil. Economies, if you do know it, should let you know that once there is a drop in demand, automatically prices go down, in support of the direct correlation with demand-price theorem. Please read through my comment again, I did not offer any suggestion, but addressed your ignorant comment of criticising the president on issues that he has no control over. Now, even if you cut supply, you have other players in the market who would not want to cut supplies. Iran is undergoing an aggressive market strategy in view of the sanctions recently lifted. They are now requesting for payment in Euros and not in Dollars. China is now slowing down on its oil demand, due to the decrease in consumer demand. India, Nigeria's major buyer, is going to Iran. Except there is a pact agreed by oil countries, nothing would stop the price from not hitting $10 per barrel (my prediction for the end of 2016). At that price, many Oil companies will stop production because it is no longer viable. Saudi Arabia break-even point is $12 per barrel, Nigeria is $20 per barrel for some of its oil wells/blocks. You can see that Nigeria will put out quickly than Saudi Arabia and another reason Saudi Arabia, an influential voice in OPEC is refusing to cut down on supplies because it is still profitable. |
989900:Thanks for the correction. OPEC cutting down supply would help, but we have other suppliers. Though it is very expensive crack Shale Oil in the US, but it is still an alternative market. There is Russia too. |
These thieves are just so unpatriotic. |
Now that puts Justice Mary Odili in the limelight. Questions need to be asked. In this country, advisers don't give advice for free. It comes with a token. Also, it is conflict of interest and professionally unethical for a Supreme Judge to frolick with politicians or even become their legal adviser. |
worlexy:Unfortunately, it is you who is poorly knowledgable in Economics. Have you ever heard of OPEC before? Do you know that production quota is rationed amongst member countries of OPEC. Do you also know that reducing supply may reduce your market share? That is why Saudi Arabia is refusing to cut down on production quota. Are you also aware that there are other suppliers in the market apart from OPEC. The Oil industry is now a consumer market and no longer a suppliers' market, where suppliers such as OPEC can control the price of oil. Finally to address your poorly informed brain cells, we have a minister of petroleum who is responsible for pursuing the country's interest. Kachikwu is a sound engineer and has the president's support even if as you said the President has F9 in Economics. The President is not expected to know everything. Please stop being ignorant |
guttentag:Why don't you perpetrate corruption to test if the EFCC is actually deceiving itself. From your comment, I can deduce that you have never visited the EFCC or had any issues with them and please, don't. If tompolo is as brave as he claims. He should come out from the creeks and return back to warri city where he initially resided before his warrant of arrest. Please don't join the bandwagon of ignorants |
Mendelssohn:Exactly what my comment above is trying to address. People just spill out rubbish without trying to reason. You are even complaining about the comment here on this forum, how about hearing people discuss publicly, you would be amazed. The ignorance in Nigeria is just out of order |
The level of ignorance in this country is at an unprecedented high, even amongst literate citizens. My comment is on the rate at which everybody accuses the president in disobeying court order. That is absolutely incorrect. First, the President does not prosecute crime offenders, that is left for institutions legally instituted to prosecute criminals such as the Police, DSS, Attorney General's Office, EFCC etc. Second, every suspect is entitled to bail hearing and it is at the discretion of the judge to grant or not grant bail, especially when the prosecuting officer/lawyer cannot provide sufficient evidence why the accused should not be granted bail. Third, in view of the flight risk associated with many of these suspects, these prosecuting officers can decide to remove some charges from the charge sheet of the accused, this is entirely at their discretion, and proceed with the remaining charges. Where there is the possibility that the accused could be granted bail, he would be re-arrested on the previously removed charges and rearraigned in court again. This procedure is a tactic employed by prosecutors to avoid suspects jumping bail. The prosecutors will continue this tactic till trial date commences. Additionally, we should commend the EFCC on their resolve in fighting corruption and their ability to use the law to their advantage. In the past, we read on how EFCC operatives cooperate with suspects in order to have a mistrial. Finally, we must learn to leave out the President on issues like this. He has already done his part, developed the framework for anti-corruption crusade, appointed new heads of anti-corruption commissions, discussed with the judiciary on the need to ensure that the war on corruption is won and seek international cooperation and assistance on retrieving proceeds from corruption and extradition of suspects hiding outside our borders. Hence, it is not the President duty or responsibility to go to court and prosecute these suspects. |
TheAziz:Please you don't need to be against Christians to say the truth. Say it the way it should. Many churches and their members including their pastors are disgusting |
philip0906:Oh you busy waiting for others to reduce their decibels before you and your pastors follow suit. Your comments reek of ignorance because the judge who may try your case will not accept your excuse. |
Blade21:I deliberately ignored this part for reasons exclusively relating to my personal view. However, if you have seen or met with a monk, who presumably carry out the same services just like Nigerian pastors, you would understand my view. My concerns also are that Nigerians are boxed into two major religions, Islam and Christianity, both fighting for dominance and their views opinionated. |
Blade21:Your comment continues to support the argument for taxation of church income. Period. |
KoldKash:I do not know how to address your comment because it was intertwined with mine. Regardless, it is rather confusing when you relate to the bible on things that are purely unethical and immoral. Your bible says "thou shall not kill" however it was plausible for David, Moses and Joshua to kill or witness the killings of other humans. Though I still consider the bible as a good moral book, I refuse to refer to it because of the many inconsistencies the book contains. For avoidance of doubt, if you give in church, you give to your pastor and not God. Let's stop the nonsense and put on common sense. That amount is lodge into any of the 25 Banks in the country and not in any heavenly account. That same amount can be withdrawn and spent by your pastor as signatory to the account and not by imaginary angels. My reference to sexual escapades is because the same pastor agreed he had sex with his member in London. Please also note that there nothing absolutely wrong in criticizing immoral and unethical pastors based on the abuses they carry out. Don't get petrified over some quote. |
blackfase:I agree with your posit. We have greedy pastors and gullible members. It is like a demand and supply situation. On the other hand, people go to church for reasons best known to them but disguise with the view of worshipping in the presence of God. What I rather tell people is that whatever you are looking for is within your own control. Don't sell that to anybody. |
Bigtoto:Nice suggestion. However, I am not a member of his church or a journalist. Hence it is not within my right to pose such question to him. I am just an interested stakeholder who feel churches/pastors are doing more harm to our society than good. Another reason for not trying is that pastors are known to be consistent with lying. It is habitual for them to lie without thinking of the consequences. Recall, they carry out this trait every Sunday when they talk to their members. |
BuddhaPalm:Which Solomon? The King? Oh please! |
Bigtoto:These are mere speculation and I don't enjoy speculations. He may have cornered church funds for the same purpose. Well many of them do. After all, which member is brave enough to question his daddy in the lord |
thepolymat:Stop this nonsense. How do you think Solomon was rich? He operated an effective tax system and gold was donated to his coffers. National geography can assist you in understanding the riches of Solomon and trust me, he wasn't the richest of all men during his time. |
Lamore:I do not find your comment funny. Here are my reasons - Pastors are not celebrities nor can they be classified as working Nigerians. - Pastors are not business entrepreneurs, who generate economic activities and whose wealth can be easily identifiable, traced and accountable. That is why churches are not taxed. - Pastors are depicted to be morally upright in society. Hence your correlation with night clubs is unrealistic. - Pastors operate charitable organizations, whose objectives are for the welfare of their members. Please go and read the Article of association of your church so you can exercise your right. - Pastors/churches survive on member donations. Hence, public outcry when pastors live a life of opulence whilst members live in abject poverty. |
poiZon:I think there are stakeholders pushing for FIRS to start taxing churches and other religious houses. First, religious organizations need to be tightly regulated because we have witness pervasive abuses from these organizations. Afterwards, rigorous tax regimes. The government will truly benefit especially now that oil revenue is going down. On the other hand, you cannot continue to insult the president over flimsy issues. It depicts how lowly your life and attitude is irrespective of your opinion. |
KoldKash:. Your comment is disgusting. I hope the mind the comment came out from is not rotten. People of your mindset see the truth and refuse to address the ethical and moral consequences involved but justify such action with the bible. The same bible that condemns extravagance lifestyle and opulence. I think many of us are not interested in whether the bible justifies your pastor to take a trip to Dubai, hire a yacht, wear white Versace, drink champagne, have sex and blow money. We are concerned because here is a man who arguably do no economic activity in the country. He pays no taxes, he doesn't manufacture anything. He just speaks on Sundays and collects donations from supposedly gullible members. His economic activities do not relate with the lifestyle he is living. Now, these donations, supposedly are expected to be used for members welfare. However, how many members can confidently say they know how their donations are being spent! You just come to me and tell me God is blessing your life when I see no economic activities around you. What you and these blood sucking pastors are succeeding in doing is to encourage this corrupt system we frown against. Nobody wants to preach or talk about hard work anymore. What you hear is God bless me - how? Except you want to steal, just like we are seeing presently in the economy. A pastor would receive a Porsche from a member without asking him how he got the cash to procure such vehicle. So my friend, ethically, your pastor is wrong. He is supporting a bad system of life. Whether you want to coat it with some more sweet bible verses is up to you. |
