TonyeBarcanista:He has no choice. You cannot fight a government. It appears we do not entirely understand what that means - you cannot fight a government. You can ask Ameachi, he is a living witness and don't forget that he was also part of the government plus immunity. However, he was vilified and humbled. |
God this is just too sad to look and reflect on |
Well I like Akpabio's shade. |
Saraki is a wise man. You ignore Obasanjo at your own peril. There is a reason he sent that letter and he has actually calculated his next move based on action or inaction. |
ChetaNwaeze:This is not a matter of jealousy. This is a matter of accountability and probity. What is wrong with you people? We are talking about our country here for Pete sake and how some people in their actions or inactions decided to mismanage or loot our commonwealth. She served her country and there are heavy allegations against her, let her come forth to explain. We as Nigerians deserve that. |
Na wa oh. Falana really prepare for the Iweala. He was dousing out facts and not mere speculation. Ngozi Iweala has serious questions to answer and according to Jimi Disu, she has a million dollar question to answer. |
Iniobong Effiong, a staff member of Diamond Bank, on Wednesday testified against Olisa Metuh, spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Effiong, who managed the account of Metuh’s Destra Investment Limited at Diamond Bank, claimed that Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), paid a sum of N400m into the company’s account on November 24, 2014. She claimed that prior to the deposit of the sum by the former NSA, the company’s account balance was N6, 636, 576 million. Earlier Okon Abang, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, had delivered a bench ruling admitting some documents tendered by Tahir Sylvanus, the prosecution counsel, as evidence against Metuh. Emeka Etiaba, counsel to Metuh, had asked the court to dismiss some correspondence between Diamond Bank and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as evidence against his client. But Abang overruled his application for lacking in merit. He therefore admitted, in evidence, a letter from Diamond Bank to the EFCC containing the statement of account, account opening document and certificate of identification of Destra Investment Limited. He also admitted, in evidence, a letter from the EFCC to Diamond Bank asking for the bank details of the company. Effiong is the fourth witness to testify against Metuh. On Monday, Nicole Ararume, another witness, had claimed she received $2m from Metuh, which she converted into naira and transferred to the PDP spokesman’s account. On Tuesday, Bali Ndam, a legal officer at the office of the national security officer (NSA), had also claimed that the former NSA paid N400m into Metuh’s Destra Investment Limited account without an award for any contract. https://www.thecable.ng/dasuki-paid-n400m-to-metuhs-company-in-nov-2014-account-manager-confirms |
I remember vividly. The entire Lagos was in chaos. I remember people running for safety but met their waterloo by running into the canal. My location was far from Ikeja, but I could feel the vibration and also saw the bright light. Bombs are truly dangerous. |
IVORY2009:Bros, at this moment, please they should act without even thinking. We need our money back. The President has sent two bills to the national assembly, we hope the bills address the issue of speedy trial and it is quickly passed into law. We need our money back |
olapluto:Stranger than fiction. I am not against his trial and if found guilty, he should serve his prison term in peace and avoid the ethnic game blame. However, I am just wondering why Metuh's trial is fast-tracked, whilst, Dasuki - the chief culprit is still chilling. How about Dokpesi (AIT Chairman)? I honestly do not want to speculate because Metuh perpetrated a crime against his country, that makes him less a patriot. |
I have been waiting for this ranking. However, I may have to collaborate your source with independent findings. Any improvement in the ranking should be attributed to the anti-corruption policies of the present administration. |
olapluto:In the case of Metuh, I am certain he will go to prison, because his trial commenced so quickly. He must have pissed off power brokers in Aso rock and they decided to teach him a lesson. Dasuki, is still a bait. I believe they need a bigger fish than Dasuki. |
The ranting is not necessary. Winning an election is all that matters. If he has the political will to win an election, then he should run again. |
Americans and Europeans would not love to do business in Africa or Nigeria, in particular because of their strong anti-laundering, anti-corruption and bribery laws. The only major country that would not hesitate is China and that is why the Chinese are everywhere in Africa. A strong stance on anti-corruption will only increase the willingness of Americans to do business in Nigeria. We have cheap labour and a huge market; these are pre-requisite for real investors. We need to monetize the cost of corruption so that Nigerians can see the damage corruption has done to us. I challenge newspapers to take this up. |
Sunnycliff:Not her money. That excitement is not one who spent money to buy the car. Appears to be a gift. |
resty4:A thief is your role model? |
kayfra:Excuse me please. This is a private initiative by the owners of Eko Hotel. Our government is a never do well government. Their thinking is how to steal |
Chinazaekperem5:Our products are currently cheap. International buyers are not complaining. Let me tell you. Immediately the CBN devalue our currency, these FX speculators will jack the price to N400/dollar. They are only interested in the margin they can make and because we have desperate importers, whose goods already have been blacklisted by CBN, looking for dollars, they will purchase at any price to pass the cost to the consumer. Now, as a rational individual, if there is a competing local manufacturer, would you not patronize the manufacturer because his product will now be cheaper? |
Jorussia:The policy should not be relaxed. We are all screaming about employment or loss of jobs. Countries that encourages importation, create more jobs for those producing countries they import from. Additionally, we import a lot of mundane and little things, like toothpicks, needles, plastic chairs, chicken and eggs etc. things we can get from our backyards. We hear all different kind of lexicon - Italian made, London made, China made, America spec etc Why do we hate our country so much, yet we want it to sustain us. |
Absolute Nonsense. So we import polythene bags in this country - what a shame. I support the CBN stance. It discourages lazy importers and middle men, who would refused to put resources in place to create product, but to encourage the import of mundane products into the country. Let these importers go source for dollars themselves, we, the consumers, would be left with no choice but to patronize local manufacturers in view of cheaper prices. |
Absolutely rubbish. If his product is so good enough and cool enough, that would be the only brand he would drive. Elon Musk, the owner of Telsa Motors, only drives his brand, because he believes his brand is better than the luxury cars. Let Innoson make his vehicles better than Range Rover so there would be no need to own one. For now, his actions shows that his vehicles are mediocre. |
9jatriot:Yes. A new charge comes with a new arrest and further detention. What EFCC is doing is within the purview of the law. On the previous charge he has been granted bail, so his lawyers will prepare for trial. This charge is separate from the money laundering charge. EFCC is using this means to keep him in detention till the main trial commences. There is absolutely nothing wrong. |
It is good that investors are showing interests in our local football. However, Ifeanyi 6 Brazilian footballers - you dey vex oh. This may create tension amongst local footballers |
In this country, when you are big, you are big. This is an example of corruption fighting back. It shows that it is good to steal big, so that you can use the proceed to fight back, return some back to the government and then keep the change. If our aim is to imprison corrupt officials, then we are in for a loss. The government should consider recovering and impoverishing corrupt officers by seizing and selling their entire assets and also lay claims to future cash flows of the individual. Prison should be the last resort after recovering so that they person can never get a job or contest for election or appointment in the country |
He is expected to be cuffed because he was reprimanded to prison by the court. Other accused were reprimanded to the Prosecutor's detention centre. Let us stop parading ignorance and hide behind ethnic sentiments. |
This is just greed |
With falling oil prices, this is not the time to steal our oil. The Government can make more money by selling the shipping vessel used in stealing the oil. We need all the money we can get. |
I hope this prophet is in police custody |
jmoore:Yes. Govt has no business in trading |
So much lawlessness in this country. The President must read the Riot Act for everybody to act straight from the North, to Niger Delta to the South East |
Well no need for amnesty payment. Just get the soldiers rolling and make the Niger delta a living hell |
I think this is a sponsored publication for the APC in as much as it looks good. A political party that doesn't know how to fund itself is dead on arrival. For the APC to run to the president for funding means the party is no different from PDP. |
